The acceleration on the BULITT is so prodigious, that when I did a 2nd gear pull, my BULLITT badge popped off, and landed on my passenger seat. POWERRRRRR!!!

Nice to see you drive it in a way that even Steve McQueen would approve of. This is the best effort by Ford to capture the feeling that the original 1968 GT gave. I will start giving your reviews a 1-10 taco 🌮 score. Score for this one:
10 🌮 with some hot sauce on the side.

I'm not a big Mustang fan, but a dark green 2 door Mustang holds a special allure for me. And yes, I was not only alive, but a teen (barely) when Bullitt came out.

Your content is very entertaining, and your car reviews are getting a lot better. All you are missing is dramatic drone footage of hooning on a closed road or airport runway like a certain unnamed car show... That Highland Green color is just beautiful, and the movie is worth a watch.

Great review, Sarah. I was hoping you would shred some rubber off those Michelins; and you did! You mentioned it and I think the nicest thing about this car is the exhaust note. Love the pops and crackles. Keep up the great work. Love your channel.

  • @jamesw1659
    @jamesw1659 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

About the badges...the car is not a "Bullitt", it is a Mustang, Bullitt Edition. The debadging was not done to disconnect it from the Mustang line, it was done because Steve McQueen's car in the movie was missing some of its badges, most notably, the one in the grille. This model is actually badged properly to match the movie car, with a couple of cute special edition badges (like the fake fuel filler) to identify it as such. Ford didn't "forget" to change the wheel caps. Same with the added chromed trim, versus the usual black...it is designed to suggest the 1968 model, which had more brightwork.

what is about the car you weren't able to put your finger on is the V8 engine. The sound, the feel and the push in the back when you lay into it.
Also Sarah I have to compliment you on your ability to drive that thing like a it should be driven. Your shifting is near spot on way better than most guys I see doing performance car reviews. I myself am old school and love to "powershift" when trying to go really fast in my old 1999 GT.

Wait, I have to find my walker, teeth, and hearing aid. I learned to drive in a 1964 1/2 HO Mustang convertible. 289 CI, 4 on the floor, AM Radio, no A/C, and 57 T-Bird wheels (The real pretty wire spoke ones). So while you get your sippy cup, I'm going for the Red Solo Cup. I may not be as good as I once was, but that 65 stang was as good as it will ever get. We invented 'Drifting' and 'Rally' driving in that car during the winters in Minnesota. I saw Bullet on the Silver Screen (that is what we called movie theaters last century.) You may have your youth and looks, but you will never have a Mustang slide for 40 feet across a movie screen.
Great review, love them all, during the brake test, your ears moved right next to your eyes, and your hair was reaching for the windscreen.
BUT, THREE BEANS. You gave the Honda Cart car 3.5 beans. I think it deserves at least a 357, maybe even a 44 magnum.

For years I've been dreaming about owning a bullitt (68, 08 or the newest model) and driving it across country to San Francisco where the movie was filmed. And really want to drive through that desert area to enjoy the view and just listen to that V8 rumble. I guess I'm gonna have to pull the trigger soon and buy one.

I’m one of the old”er” group Sarah! Whilst I was on the fringe of the Bullitt movie age wise, I am a huge fan of the late & great Steve McQueen. I really liked your take & perspective on this car. You summed it up perfectly saying you don’t know exactly what it is about this car, whether it’s the package or the character. Simply that’s it. I bought mine in December & every single time I take it out for a spin I just can’t put my finger on why I love it but I just bloody do! So from “Down Under” cheers!👍🏼😎

Absolutely right on the Christmas calipers. Also, I totally agree with thw affordable muscle identity of the mustang. There should be a stripped V8 Mustang for 17,000. No screens, no radio, steelies, manual windows and locks, etc. Just a raw V8 beast

    • @twoeightythreez

The Coyote engine alone adds over $10k to the car....
But yes, an LX5.0 would be pretty awesome, even if there is no way it coild ever come in under $20k, though it could probably happen for $25-27k.
Thats still a significant difference from the over $40k it now takes to even get into a v8 mustang. I am happy with my pre loved 2016 eco for just over $20k😊

A refreshing review! About time someone didn’t fanboy a Bullitt (not that I’m not a fan, just realistic about what they are). I own a 2018 Mustang ecoboost, and love how torque builds quite rapidly. No tune yet, just a custom catback that sounds way better than stock without being obnoxious. I know this is 5 years old, but having owned a similar power Mustang (14 GTCS retuned to boss 305 specs) we bought brand new, its hard to appreciate how much stupid fun one of these can be as a daily driver. I don't romp on mine much but if you turn off the electronic protection, you can really get nuts quickly. I found I would skid it sideways with too much power early on and had to learn how to feather the power and also how to brake into the corners to keep from sliding the front or spinning out the rear. Put the electronics back on and its a much more sane car but still a bunch of fun. Sarah, while you still can, go back and re-review the big modern V8 beasts like Mustang, Camaro, Corvette and the like. I suspect their time is limited which is why I bought two GTCS's. A convertible and coupe so we have the best of both worlds in big V8 power with the 305 tune and upgrades.

While it's a throwback name, this car is so very new that it's really a brand new car. Who cares about the idea coming from an old movie- it's still a cool name. Nothing about this car is the same as the original xc (except) that it kicks serious arse. I think that before the Mach 1, was the Bullitt. Nice review, as usual.

    • @brian5o
      @brian5o 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The car is pretty ridiculously priced, I agree but the sad thing is Ford will not have any problem selling them at that price because they are really cool cars, definitely the best incarnation of Ford's special Bullitt Mustang compared to the 2001 and 2008 by a mile.
These are toys for people with money or people willing to overextend their debt to own one. Unfortunately, I don't fall into either of those categories.
Ford built a one-off Kona Blue Bullitt for charity, I did buy several raffle tickets to to try to win it but no such luck, unfortunately. I am going to keep an eye open for these on the used market but I have a feeling, even used there will be a hefty premium to buy one. A run-of-the-mill GT can be had particularly used for significantly less than a Bullitt, they are plentiful and can usually be had for the low $30s with very low mileage. It is getting harder and harder to find one with a proper manual transmission which makes me nervous though. Ford had better not drop the manual because I absolutely refuse to own a Mustang with an automatic transmission.
I remember looking at a new 2001 Bullitt when they first came out at the dealership. If I remember correctly, it had a sticker price of just under $30,000. I thought that was a crazy price for a Mustang back then, even a Bullitt. Boy how times have changed....

I know the manufacturers tell us the future is four or six cylinder cars, or god forbid, electrics, but that sound out of the tailpipes of that Stang is just too good to ever let get away. My number one gripe about the 2019 Ford Raptor...no V8.

Hey Sarah, check this for a coincidence. I went to Casa Grande earlier for a 2007 Mustang GT. It has a 5 speed with a sweet Hurst shifter. Fortunately, the car runs, just not reliably enough, so I got the call to hook it up and take it to Chandler. We have a driver who lives closer to the pickup and delivery locations, but because it is lowered, I got the job.
Anyway, once I got rolling North, I checked my notifications and there you were with the Mustang. The one I hauled has similar wheels, but with cobras on the caps. Cool feeling and sounding car, but since I sit about 8 feet in the air, getting in a car feels like squatting in a bucket.

Oh, those are special rims that come on the car, those were not legs. What she used for walking are true gifts from God.

I saw Bullitt when it first hit the theater. Still one of the best car chase scenes in any movie. I do like the 5.0L V-8. However, I wouldn't spend $50,000 on a Mustang.

My Uncle just picked up a green Bullit. Would be krazy if that was the same one.

Enjoyed the review. AND, if you haven’t already, SEE ALL THE STEVE McQUEEN MOVIES! Especially Bullitt and Le Mons

Should have had the voodoo engine instead of the coyote to pay more homage to movie.

I’m thinking of buying one. How does the volume button feel when you turn it? How many cup holders does this beauty have?

If you like that exhaust tone, definitely rent the movie. It's worth the rental fee even if you just fast forward to the chase scene. Still the best car chase in movie history.
Love your reviews. Keep 'em coming!

I dunno Sarah, I got my Bullitt equipped with Magnaride and the electronic package, and I paid 46k for it. I test drove a BMW 440 and the Bullitt back to back, and the Bullitt has way more character and balls than the 440. Plus I saved 16k!

I saw the original Bullitt in a theatre and admit to being old. Ford V8 engines have a distinctive sound. McQueen's mustang did not have flatulence, though. :-)

Love this car and the color.. the green is just a slick color! I actually would like to pull all the badges off including the bullitt on the boot and the interior as well as the wheels. I just looks better with 0 badges and that sound is great.

Fyi, a brand new 5.0 mustang in Australia is 80k.
    5 year old f-150 raptor is 130k.
Please don't complain about your 50k special edition

When is Sarah not friendly someone might ask when it involves anything with theee pedals mainly the one all the way to the right cause I don’t think Sarah had a doubt in her mind that of course yes any review wouldn’t be a good review if it weren’t either flatout or with some sort of head back acceleration

Spot on about the rims and Red Brembos, x-mas colors, should have gone with a gold Brembo with a better wheel. I thought they put the Tremec in the Billit. Brake color I could live with, but not a German engineered and Chinese built transmission. I would buy a 2013 or 2014 GT 500, or 2012 0r 2013 , 302 Boss
