The very first gun I ever owned was given to me by my dad. It was this rifle, carbine length, standard lever. I still own it and I love it to death I'll never sell it. Many a small game this rifle has helped me eat.

The rifle arrived today and I dialed in the scope just a couple hours ago th-cam.com/users/postUgkxQt2uORDRfFOVSrO4idv4B90ThT6EOnEL . I haven’t shot with a scope in probably 25 years. The X on the left was my target. (the shot almost in the bullseye on the right X was my father in laws first shot after I made adjustments) The two shots circled are my first 2 shots. Then I brought it down - shot once. Then brought it over to the left. From there zeroed it in to dead center. This all was from 25 yards out. Follow instructions carefully when mounting the scope. So far I'm very happy with the purchase.

I've had a Henry Big Boy in .357 magnum going on 7 years and it's an excellent rifle. The action was very smooth right out of the box, super accurate and has never had an issue. The only draw back was scoping the older models however within the last year or two they have resolved that issue making it much easier to mount an optic. I'm just getting started with teaching my soon to be 5 year old son with a Savage Rascal .22lr once he is big enough and ready to move up he wants a Henry and when that day comes the squirrels in NEPA are done for.
    Nice review thanks for sharing.

The 357 Big Boy carbine is a great rifle. Just got one about 3 weeks ago and I love it. Supposedly the 38 specials may have feeding problems but I use the 150 grain round nose Federal American Eagle for the 38 specials and they feed right every time. They are just almost as long in overall length as a 357 158 grain Semi Jacketed soft point which also feed great so that helps.

I bought one of these several years ago and absolutely love it!!! It’s so much more fun than semi auto and it’s so short and light it can be toted anywhere. It’s my favorite rifle and I own many. The open sights are right on the money. If SHTF I honestly might prefer to grab this little carbine and a few thousand rounds of ammo rather than a larger rifle and less ammo. • @bobg1685
      @bobg1685 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Gun channels gave been doing great reviews of lever-actions for as far back as I can remember. I think I've only seen one gun channel recently state they suck at about the same time they released a vid claiming bolt-action was superior. Whoever said these were bad have their heads up their own butts and are high on the fumes; lever-action are fun to shoot, are fast, and fill a depth-range that a bolt might not. These are Americana. Don't listen to the Troglodytes say bad things about these. FWIW, I'm looking to get a .38/.357 carbine next year, so perhaps I'm slightly biased.

Man oh man, I bought one of these just like the one in the video except with a standard lever when I graduated high school in 99. I bought a simmons 8 point scope and a sling the same day and had less then 200 in the whole thing. I squirrel hunted with it for quite some time and killed tons with it. At 40 yards I could hit a dime size target spot every time with cci stingers, that was the load it seemed to favor best. Like an idiot I ended up selling it for 150 and could kick myself ever since. I finally bought another one later but the trigger pull on it was no comparison, it was very stiff. I sold it with no regrets because I wasn't very accurate with it and that bear of a trigger. I do still miss my old one just because and especially considering how they have went up in price as have all guns. Anyhow, i. like the video sootch but you make me miss my rifle man!

.. Loved your coverage on the Henry .22 lever action.
.. When I was 12, I got a Winchester 62 .22 pump. That will be 60 years ago this coming Christmas. I still have it.
.. I was vacationing in South Dakota at my father's parents farm. We were able to go out to the fields to get some game, any time we wanted. Back then, .22 shorts really saved money.
.. I learned how to reload (or top off) while in the field. I would withdraw the spring tube far enough to expose the loading port. Holding the rifle in my left arm, kind of like a baby, I would be able to pull ammo from my jacket pocket and feed the magazine tube until full. When full, I would grasp the receiver with my right hand and reach up with my left hand to pull the spring tube into the magazine tube.
.. Your review of the Taurus TX22 has be wanting to get one. The magazines cost $22 each. They now have a loading aid for pulling those buttons down.
.. I really enjoy your videos and the way that you inform me of the features, etc.
    Richard

    nice job.
i just bought the Henry "Evil Roy" .22 lr lever action carbine and LOVE it!
THIS is the Henry lever action .22 to own!
the gleaming stainless finished receiver and barrel band against the luscious deeply blued octagonal barrel and rich dark American walnut stock and forend just drips with beauty!
its got a nice slick action as always and my trigger is super nice with zero creep or takeup and a nice crisp break with a good bit of overtravel as most lever guns tend to have.
its got a nice flat brass bead front sight and all steel buckhorn rear sight with a white diamond.
its just a beautiful little rifle.
it holds 12 rds of .22 lr ammo (mine holds 13 rds) in its brass tube magazine and goes through all of them lightning quick if you want.
mine seems quite accurate. ive only tried 2 different ammo brands so far but both produce about 3/8"-1/2" groups at 25 yds with one 3/16" group using iron sights.
i plan to add a gloss black 4x scope in see through stainless rings for a bit more accuracy potential.
man this thing is sweet! if you get a chance check out the Evil Roy model! id love to hear your take on it!

I only review things I like after a lot of research. There is too much work & time that goes into the final video you see for me to get motivated to do any less. As far as saying anything negative, I mentions issues in every review but unless it's inaccurate, malfunctions or is not durable, the gun sells on it's own merits. Complain when you can tell me something I've missed, then I'll listen. This little carbine is top notch.

Most of Henry's walnut comes from Missouri, or it did on my .30-30. I wish I had one of each flavor of everything Henry makes. I'm working on it. But this company is such a pure example of fine American manufacturing, and under sound patriotic ownership and management.

I collect the henry lever action and the Uberti single action pistols. They go well together. I never had the 22 though until my dad passed away. I inherited his collection then added the leather butt stock and sling that holds all the rounds on it. I also added a picatinny rail and scope. It's a lot more accurate that i would have guessed. I can shoot it all day for minimal dollars.

I've had two of these. I sold them both. They're very well built, but in the end, bolt and semi auto savages are more convenient for how I use a .22lr.

I bought this carbine 2 months ago. shooting it with a scope is much much more accurate than using the iron sight. I've been having a lot of fun with it.

I have the same gun with a different rear sight it is now "in the white" because the receivers coating started chipping so I just stripped it down to gun metal gray. I have had it for years and it is a tack driver but the best thing is Henry customer service. I bought my gun long enough ago that they still had plastic front sights and plastic barrel bands, one e mail to Henry and they sent metal front sight and band for free in like 2 days and I broke a firing pin I called they sent a new one free. In my experience they have the best customer service of just about anyone they have really taken good care of me.

Bought one just a month ago at Wal-Mart on sale for $240. This is a nice lightweight rifle as he said and won't wear u out while u enjoy shredding a few targets. The sights have me hitting in and around the center in a nice grouping from 75ft.

The one con that led me to sell mine in favor of a vintage Marlin Mountie was the inability to separate the action for cleaning. I agree that for the price it can't be beat. The "safe queen" 1964 Mountie cost me nearly 3 times as much as the Henry. Also the Mountie is heavy for a small kid learning to shoot. I LOVE 22's and I enjoyed the video!

I sure love mine! Safe, accurate....great with CCI Subsonic’s (“Quiet”) no louder than a pellet gun. I can shoot without scaring the wildlife or “pilgrims.” I don’t really like loading tube mags at the muzzle, but understand why no side gate. Could Henry do one for single-shot firing? That would be fun with youth.

I got my H001 Plain Jane for my 37th birthday from some fancy location Walmart Upstate New York n June 2017. My serial number is just under the 1,000,000 mark. The week after i got mine, Henry celebrated the one millionth.
I didn’t baby mine. It’s got signs of honest wear because i use it a lot. Thinking of getting a large loop for it as well.

I have 2 black Ruger Wranglers and wanted a good lever action to go with them . I picker up a Henry Classic 001 lever action , love it. All 3 shoot the same ammo . When the grand kids come out we load them up with CCI cb .22 shorts 29 grain , 710 fps. And shoot at gallon milk jugs full of water. They love it.
I hunt with CCI Mini mags 40 grain , 1235 fps , and shoot large varmints with CCI Velocitors 40 grain hollow points ,1435 fps. Plinking ammo for me is Federal Auto-Match--Coke cans. The Henry 001 and
the Wranglers will shoot all most any .22 rounds from cb shorts to CCI Stingers.
Left one out, last summer I a got a boarder collie puppy he was outside and was barking and crying to get in. He had dug up a nest of ground bees and they were stinging him. Got him in the house and took care of him. Went to the gun safe and pulled out the Henry , filled it with rat shot . Declared war on the
bees. Henry 11 bees 0. Up to 15 feet Henry was deadly on bees. Love my .22s.

I want a lever action Henry to teach my son how to shoot. Looked at a 10/22 and didn’t want any accidents because of the semi auto ability of it, a lever action is perfect for what I want. Also, I can take it on a a trail ride with my side arm just Incase, nobody will have an heart attack or call the police like they would for my M4’s.

  • @DougHinVA

They are fed by a lever , so they can shoot .22, .22LR, and .22short one after another. So that means you can shoot all 3 rounds as needed (or available). Right? Mine is scoped and you can see the open sights under the scope for up close. Very nice value and well made and all USA made.

I believe Anthony Imperato's father bought the name and rights to Henry way back 80s? possibly. Check out their history with Anthony. I have several Henrys and Communicate with Anthony occasionally, but I try to keep it to a minimum because he is a very busy man!!!!! Thanks for the video!!!! These videos keeps me wanting to shoot my Henrys!!!! Sometimes they include a Henry rifle history with their catalog and a news letter.

Be careful with the finish on the receiver. It's some kind of baked on powder that scrapes off pretty easy once you scratch it somewhere.

Not to mention the receiver is pieced together and made of cheap pot metal. Be careful adding scope base mounts on that low quality receiver. He said there was no cons that he could think of. I just mentioned 2. The barrel is also pinned to the receiver. Thats 3.

What no one ever talks about is that a Lever rifle is the lowest maintenance and cleaning firearm. With a lever rifle, all you really have to do is clean the barrel with a couple of patches. you do not need to take the henry levers apart..... just brush some lubricant onto the sliding parts once in a while. PS, this made me get the 357 big boy.
