hello I am the girl who you met at the airport that day, so nice to meet you guys and sorry that day I point you wrong place to buy tickets, wish you enjoy your trip at Chengdu 😉
Firstly I'm not from China but have visited China 5 times in fact I just got back one month ago from my 5th visit to Guizhou, China, my other 4 trips to China were: - 1994 to Guangzhou, Shenzen - 2002 to Shanghai and Qingdao - 2006 to Shanghai - 2018 to Shanghai, Hangzhou and Suzhou. Let me tell you guys, you're going to love China the more you travel within, 50+ different Chinese ethnicities, so many different cultures, modern and advanced big cities and don't forget to visit those heaven-like mountainous tourist attractions like Zhangjiajie where the movie Avatar used its mountain landscapes as reference. I know of many western foreigners actually moved to China after visiting with working visa. So whatever negative perspectives you guys read or heard from many western media about China, just prepare to turn them to the opposite side (positive) and you'll see the right China and that's the truth. After your trip(s) to multiple states or provinces of China, believe me, you'll start to question why your own leaders in government positions did not manage your country as well as China with such easy, advanced and safe livelihoods. I know because that's what had happened to me after witnessing those huge development progress in China the last 30 years. Call it Fortunately or unfortunately, China has put every country to shame with its progress especially those from the western hemispheres, China's progress indirectly made them look bad. Just enjoy your trip, observe and keep an open mind, I'm sure this will be an eye opening trip.
"you'll start to question why your own leaders in government positions did not manage your country as well as China with such easy, advanced and safe livelihoods." That's exactly why western governments don't want their people to come visit China and put out all those travel warnings to scare them off.😂
Someone who’s traveled the world used to tell me that no matter what the media says, the state of the local people never lies. That’s why you need to measure the world with your own feet and see everything with your own eyes.

Through my work in New Zealand I met a number of people from Chengdu. They were all warm, friendly people who were keen to learn about our culture while sharing information about their's. I would love to visit the area to see the sights and the Panda Bears.

I am very lucky to have seen and experienced China grow the last 30+ years and to see the development. I'm very happy to see people like you traveling and experience China 🇨🇳. It's to the credit of the people in this country and it's government that China is what it is today ❤️ I hope you will have many more adventures going to China 🇨🇳❤️ All the best from Hong Kong!
Welcome to China! Your first stop is also a city that I love very much. I have been to Chengdu 8 times, with countless delicious food, cultural attractions, and the panda base. Don't go to many places, and slowly experience the leisurely life of the Chinese people. When you fall in love with this place, you will automatically explore the mountains and rivers of China. Welcome again!
I am from Singapore and I backpacked to Chengdu probably 50 yrs ago…when China just open up. I am 76 yrs old now. No internet at that time. Imagine the underdeveloped Chengdu than and the modern Chengdu now. 😳 Have a nice trip in Asia. 🙏
@@AllenNail I cannot read Chinese. At that time 2 currencies were used. Foreign Exchange & The Chinese Yuan. Local Chinese cannot use the Chinese Yuan to buy Motor cycle, TV, etc. 😳
The most dangerous thing in China is: when you come back from the gym at night, there are many barbecue restaurants or late-night restaurants on the way, and your wallet will be empty. So you'd better take a taxi home instead of walking
If Americans travelled more they could realise they actually live in the shit land of the world and some of us don't understand why people want to move their. I guess everyone believes that Hollywood is America. Sad
Please tell your people to stop coming to SK to make money. There are over 1.3 million of them in my country, with a good number of them being illegals.
I was in China last year, and it was easily one of the best trips I had, contrary to what I have learn from the mainstream media. That’s the essence of travel, isn’t it; to find out and see from our own eyes. Thanks for sharing!! Have fun and safe travel!! 🤗
I guess you must be a loser at the bottom of society, because since you are very concerned about Xinjiang, Tibet and Hong Kong, but you can't afford a plane ticket to where to go!😂
Honestly speaking, chengdu is the most recreational, chilling, entertainment city in China, great cafe, food and bar. The only negative side is the air quality especially in Winter. Good luck
China has a large population and many people do not speak English, but don’t worry, feel free to ask especially young people, it will be easier to communicate. Regardless of whether you speak English or not, people in China are very friendly and will try their best to help you!
I've travelled a lot...it's always different to how the newspapers and TV news give out there negative spin on a country. I met an American in Vietnam...they thought Vietnamese would hate them .......they found the complete opposite ....the Vietnamese people were totally super friendly to them...enjoy china! It will be great. Martin....Bristol .England

99% of the cases digital payment can work even 90 Yrs nanny Do that in China. But it's illegal to refuse cash in China for business owners, it's just sometimes too rare to see cash so that small business may not prepare enough change to give. Another thing is local banks charges nothing to business via Alipay, but foreign banks do, so sometimes small business don't wanna Pay extra fee so they don't open the access for visa/master trade, that's why sometimes foreigner's Alipay can't work.
That sounds like an incredible adventure! We moved to China in March 2023 for work, and wow, what an eye-opener! It's truly unlike anything we had heard in the media. China is absolutely wonderful-super friendly people, amazing food, affordable living, and the safety here is top-notch. Plus, you can get pretty much anything delivered right to your door the next day. We're sure you'll discover even more delightful surprises. Enjoy your trip, and definitely don't miss out on the hotpot-it's the best! 😁
As a Chinese person, I hope more foreign friends can come to understand China. I come from Yueyang, Hunan, China. Welcome everyone to taste our delicious cuisine!
I have spent two weeks in China last year without Chinese Sim card nor local payment app download. After arriving, I went to a local bank and exchanged a lot of small bills of RMB, 1, 5, 10, 20 etc. Cash is still widely accepted. BTW, English is taught in almost all the schools in China. So the chance of getting help in English from younger population in China is much better.
@@pandas-hx8ix It is not that they don't want the cash, it is that everybody uses cashless now that they don't have any cash to make change. When i was there as a tourist, many can not make change. It is either you give the rest of your money as tip or you go find someone who can make change. Crystal?
I split my time between Qingdao, China and the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas. My wife is Chinese, and we maintain a newly purchased condo in the New West Coast area of Qingdao. The Western concepts of China as a dirty place with lots of people living in poverty are in error. My area of Qingdao is an ocean side paradise. The walkways near me are wide with lots of landscaping. All the streets have bike lanes for your electric mopeds and bikes. The subway system is clean modern and constantly expanding. The cost of living for most items is much cheaper than the west. The people here like westerners and are very friendly. The only downside is my lack of Mandarin speaking skills. I never see any homeless or beggars asking for money, people stealing catalytic converters or anything that isn't bolted down like back in the states. The weather is perfect in the spring and summer months. It does start to get cold in late October to March but other than that, this is a great place to live.

Before visiting China, Beijing, Wuhan, and Guangzhou, My perceptions, and expectations were low. I was pleasantly surprised the modern cities Malls and people, I felt safe and respected, Had no issues and would visit again,
I just came back to Malaysia last night from Chongqin after going for a 7day tour there. The place and people there are super amazing and friendly. So many beautiful places to visit and food were good too. Can't wait to see more places in China in the near future. Thank you awesome people in Chongqin.!
During my five-year tenure studying in China, I have consistently encountered remarkable hospitality from the local populace, despite the prevalence of limited English proficiency. Nevertheless, their willingness to assist and support me has been commendable.
are you from somalia? if so then how do they treat black muslims in china? cuz i know in europe and the us are very islamophobic and racist. does china feed its population anti-black and anti-islam propaganda like the west does? i hope you are safe there!
About the lady who tell you Alipay is not able to use in metro. What she means "you can not use Alipay " was you may not able to use Alipay QR code directly at metro entrance. Usually we dont use the metro card if we can use Alipay or Wechat pay directly. But when it come to the metro card, you can use all the ways to buy it, include cash, wechat pay , alipay pay , union pay and etc.
@@TwoMadExplorers You can try to find the metro code in Alipay instead of buying a metro card every time. It's usually in Transport (city)/metro. Have a good trip!😁
My son would love to visit China as he says there is a cool skate park and he loves to explore new cultures. We love to travel as a family. Really enjoying your arrival experience so far. Makes me want to visit China. Enjoy! 😊
Welcome to China, not sure Guangzhou will be your destination or not, but if you are planning to come, make sure you know it was known as Canton in ancient times. Canton fair, Cantonese food, Cantonese language, the Canton tower is amazing too!
@@TwoMadExplorers I'm a Cantonese. If you are not a businessman, do not visit Guangzhou during the Canton Fair. Hotels are double price as expensive as usual. Other times, you will be surprised that Guangzhou is such a city that with modern fashion, delicious cuisine, a long history, and unique traditional culture
Although China is essentially a cashless society (last time for me was two years ago) because of inability to use digital payment system by people like senior citizens and visitors it is mandatory to accept cash. You will be fine as everything else. Welcome to China.
Although digital payments are highly popular, if cash is not accepted anywhere, you can call the police, which is not in compliance with Chinese law. Foreign tourists need to know.
All true, although I have seen senior citizens using wechat pay just as comfortably as younger people. No more fumbling with coins at the till. Also makes it easier to collect hongbao.
What I learnt from the Beijing Metro is, once you did not pay enough for your multiple lines, you can pay the rest at the final exit. The reason that I did not know about the metro rule in Chengdu is because I only ride sharing bikes for outing, riding along the rivers is too enjoyable. My bike ride last month was in Yu Lin road, I stopped almost every corner for the street food, so satisfying.
Not entirely true. China does have a long history, but not the longest. It is, however, the only extant country with the oldest continuous history, at its core genetically, linguistically and culturally mostly uninterrupted and unaltered 😊.
What a smooth arrival! Nowadays China is not particularly crowded since people live in a multi-dimensional manner in subways, on the ground mostly by car and high-speed train, in high-rise buildings and flying in the air.
Having travelled China 7 times so far Beijing down to Guangxi province and Nanning the southern beautiful countryside of the areas near the Vietnam borders. I also found most media representation of China to be quite in-factual. The people are generally very helpful and never hard to find an English speaker willing to help you. The Public Transport system embarrasses most countries and cash is still king there although many of the app style payments are easy enough to use. .. the food is great , but I found out the first time to only drink bottled water. Tap water is a definite no ... Do not be scared to travel China ...do not listen to all the negative media this great country cops from biased Western sources.
Welcome to China, there are several suitable alternatives in China, Amap (more accurate than Google Maps in China), Didi Dache (similar to Uber), Railway 12306 (It is highly recommended that you take China's high-speed rail passport can be used, but use the manual channel), Dianping (food recommendation), Ctrip or XiaoHongshu (there are many travel guides but I don't know if there will be an English version) and the most important translation software (when you need help, you can greet strangers or staff, usually you can say "hello" first, most Chinese are willing to help foreign guests), in addition to the city of Chengdu, You are also welcome to visit Tibet (Lhasa) and Xinjiang (Urumqi), which have the most beautiful natural scenery in China
For foreigners who don’t eat spicy and oily food, Sichuan is easily misunderstood food in China is too oily, several foreigners told me about that , I explained Sichuan cuisine just one of the cuisines, many provinces have completely different tastes
there are altogether more than 300000 registered and still running restaurants in Chengdu, that is to say, take 4 meals a day in different restaurant every day, it will cost you 75000 days, which more than 200 years to finish this mission.
Yes, China is indeed good, but many people don't know about it. Therefore, today I have made a Chinese teaching video to help everyone better understand China❤
I'm a new subscriber. I've been to China four times in the past and backpacking for a month each time. My first arrival was in Kunming and it was nothing like the China I had imagined. I'm originally from the UK and lived mostly in Nepal with my Nepalese wife. Now we are planning on relocating to Killarney in Ireland. It's a beautiful area of Ireland with a lot of tourists. Many thanks for posting this SUPERB vlog and for sure I'll be watching many more. Best wishes from Anthony Dai
It's incredible how everything is so negative toward China and Korea in the West. When you arrive, it's a completely different picture! So many kind strangers went out of their way to help me despite language barriers. In Korea I even left a laptop in a taxi and the driver tracked me down and brought it back to me
Wow 😯 yeah, it’s really a different world here. The west has painted these places as so bad and evil. In reality, it’s quite the opposite in our experience 🫶🏼
@@littleowlbooks8514 True, far fewer people. But you'd be surprised how many uneducated people I meet from North America or Europe that confuse South Korea with North Korea or think it's a communist hell hole.
@@littleowlbooks8514 i wouldn’t say “no one!” you’d be surprised about how many people who have never traveled are ignorant to the world. Traveling is the easiest way to break the lies but not everyone have the time, willing and money to travel to an unknown place. The good news is that, social media and smart phones are so developed and affordable, that the majority of people with rationality in the world can know more about the true world following others' lens. That's why vloggers are important. Enjoy your trip and have a good time.👍
In fact, many Chinese people do not scan the QR code to enter the subway, only need to gently attach the phone to the sensor through the NFC function of the phone. The iPhone can also be used with an e-bus card attached to your wallet, and it is available nationwide.
As a chinese, i dont want so many people to know how good it is. China is a treasure, we just want to live here happily, instead of exposed to the world.
Honestly you are right bro, though everyone will not understand what you mean, but when you allow your treasure open to the world, it going to be like the smallest island discovering large amount of oil in USA eyes. Love from Nigeria
I am a graduate student studying in Chengdu. There are multiple ways to take the metro, a ticket card you guys used in the video, QR code in Alipay, NFC on your phone, etc. But I usually take the metro by scanning my face. You can see a screen on top of each gate machine at every metro station in Chengdu. I don’t need to take out my phone or ticket, just put my face in the middle of the screen and the gate would open seamlessly. This method is less used than other ways of metro payment but still good to use. The face scanning never fails. And I haven’t seen it elsewhere in China, be it in other mega cities like Shanghai, Hangzhou or Nanjing.
There are older trains and the newer ones in diffrent cities in China. Just got back from our SEA tour. The one we took from Beijing to Xi'an was great 350 km/hr., comfortable, spacious seats, very smooth and quiet ride. The other one in Yichang to Shanghai was older, 250 km/hr. max speed, still comfortable seats and faster than other high-speed trains in other countries. I've been to Europe including Germany, France and UK. I've traveled in 3 high-speed trains there and these were comparable to the older ones in China. So in conclusion, I can say that China's infrastructure is much more advanced than the rest of the world.
A new audience 1. Welcome to Chengdu, China 2. After Chengdu, I suggest going to Chongqing, because the two cities are very close 3. The dishes in Chengdu and Chongqing taste similar, both are very spicy 4. Generally speaking, you can use Alipay, but you must have cash in case Alipay does not work To take the subway, you only need to scan the "travel QR code" of Alipay, no need to buy a ticket

I would like to say that you have come to the right place in Chengdu. Chengdu is a convenient and leisurely place, where you can feel the food and the ancient Shu culture. Sanxingdui Museum is also recommended
I have been watching Chinese dramas for the last few years and it has been eye opening, the difference between what they show and what we are told/taught. I would definitely visit if I ever had the chance.
@@xuexizhongwen Keep in mind that this was during the late 70’s through 80’s so I cannot speak for what is being taught today, but we were basically led to believe that China was a third world country and I remember being shown a video where people were going through a market area and there were stalls where skinned rats were hanging up and being sold as food.
If your health permits, please come back to China. China 50 years ago is a very distant thing for us. At that time, my father was a teenager, and most Chinese people probably lived a not very rich life, just solving the problem of food and clothing. The monthly salary at that time might be only a few dozen yuan.

interesting choice of first city to check out in china. I'm pretty sure most westerners never even heard of chengdu before lol even though there's over 20m living there. always good to carry some cash, especially with some small denominations. some street vendors do not have business accounts so they can't accept payment that's linked to a foreign credit card. and yes the payment apps have everything including translation apps. if you see robots in the hotel lobby, you can try ordering food. once delivered to the hotel lobby, the robots will take it to your room 😅. also suggest renting bikes to get around when you not in the busier city central. it's cheap and one of the best ways to see large portions of the city otherwise you will be walking A LOT. chengdu is surrounded by rivers and mountains so there's a lot to do outside the city, but because of this geography it's overcast a lot so if you see sunshine it'd be your lucky day. enjoy your trip!
I’m studying in Chengdu right now,it’s such an amazing city.U definitely should taste the local food here which is one of the best meals in China. The province is also the hometown of panda,U can also see many pandas in the panda center, the metro is very convenient to get there, but there are always crowded it’s such a shortage. When the sunny day,if you look forward to the west side in high places, maybe you will see the snow mountains,it’s such amazing! But unfortunately, recently the weather is cloudy. I hope that you have a nice trip in this city, and I also recommend my hometown Fujian Province, especially Xiamen and Fuzhou, there are also a magical place 😊
Welcome to my hometown, it’s been raining lately, but I like rain, lol~~Scenic spots in the city are easily accessible by subway. The city's attractions are easily accessible by metro. Scenic spots outside the city can be reached by high-speed rail, which is very convenient.By the way, they tell you not to come to China, we don't think it matters. As long as we are happy ourselves.Have fun.~
Very welcome to my city,As a local, in addition to the regular city like hot-pot panda , I highly recommend you to go to the so-called Oriental Switzerland, which has unparalleled natural scenery in western Sichuan.
Wow, it reached over 43k clicks in 20 hours. I visited Ireland on a business trip once and still have many friends over there from work. Welcome to China and enjoy your stay in China!
China is such a diverse and beautiful place that it will take more than a lifetime to see it properly. It ranges from Alpine to tropical forests, ancient villages to ultra modern cities, exotic foods to western fine dining.
Thank you for this. I've been wanting to go to China since I was a kid watching martial arts movies in the 80's! It's because of the media and the language/communication barriers (especially if I arrive at the airport and am busting to use the loo and can't read the signs haha) that I've been hesitating until now. I hope to tick it off my bucket list soon :)
And also for Chinese, before the economic crisis they were forbidden in most cities. But now when most Chinese can't afford a car anymore they are allowed again.

The people here like westerners and are
very friendly.

Yes, cash is still accepted. Now that we can make the payment with our local i-banking app, perhaps I would try it out on my next trip to China.

如果去重庆,千万不要骑自行车!!切记!!!
外国人的新手村一般都是上海
All my U.S. friends, relatives, & classmates who have visited China seemed to LOVE it, esp. the History & Cultural Heritage, & the warm people.❤
Subscribed. Explore China for those who can't. Waiting for your videos! Love from Northeast India.
Well done 👍
Great job
I wish you all the best looking forward to see what next for you in China 🇨🇳
Blessings
Thank you so much!❤️
Very welcome to my city,As a local, in addition to the regular city like hot-pot panda , I highly recommend you to go to the so-called Oriental Switzerland, which has unparalleled natural scenery in western Sichuan.
You are very polite. We welcome you to travel to China!😊
Wow, it reached over 43k clicks in 20 hours. I visited Ireland on a business trip once and still have many friends over there from work. Welcome to China and enjoy your stay in China!
Thank you so much for watching and supporting us ❤️
Hi Luke Naomi... welcome to China...
Thank you! 😃
hopefully we can meet when you visit Guangzhou city.
The only perception of any country we get from mainstream media, is never like it is in reality in my experience!
China is such a diverse and beautiful place that it will take more than a lifetime to see it properly. It ranges from Alpine to tropical forests, ancient villages to ultra modern cities, exotic foods to western fine dining.
and Tiananmen Square....
The more you travel in China and meet with ordinary Chinese, the more you will love China
❤
Thank you for this. I've been wanting to go to China since I was a kid watching martial arts movies in the 80's! It's because of the media and the language/communication barriers (especially if I arrive at the airport and am busting to use the loo and can't read the signs haha) that I've been hesitating until now. I hope to tick it off my bucket list soon :)
It’s amazing ❤️

Hi there, I could be your translator if needs😄
China is pretty safe but please be careful with the traffic, especially those silent scooters, that's only dangerous things for foreigners
Thank you so much ☺️ we will be extra careful with those!
And also for Chinese, before the economic crisis they were forbidden in most cities. But now when most Chinese can't afford a car anymore they are allowed again.
Just for your information, more than 30 million new cars were sold in Chinese market just in 2023, which set the new record in the world.
@@Naikomi95 can't afford a car? you make me lol
@@Naikomi95 and BTW that means an EV or e-moped, definitely you won't search any data about how China goes far on new energy industry. Keep isolating in western's information cocoons.
I stayed there when I went to Chengdu. Great place, very affordable, friendly staff and good coffee...
