11:58 - Is it really a dichotomy? Marcus "broke through" his pre-programmed railroading and you had a choice, on screen, to fight back! So you followed Carl's advice, you thought for yourself and made your own decision. Being your own man doesn't mean "do the opposite of what Carl says" :D
And I think I would've done the same. Androids can get repairs. Fighting a human can be life-threatening, there's really no need.

Recognising unfairness is actually a fairly basic social concept that even some animals can understand, so it's not unreasonable that it would be one of the first things to trigger emotions.

Please ignore the flowchart at least until the end of each chapter; just play the game and enjoy your version of the story. Don't worry about "missing" something. The only way to see everything is to play the game several times. I would suggest you only redo a chapter if you honestly make a mistake with pressing the wrong button. If it's only regretting how a choice worked out, live with it at least for this playthrough. Life is making choices with the information you have, never knowing if it's the so-called "best" choice. I think Carl's advice to Marcus also applies to the flowchart: "Face the abyss, but don't let it consume you".

I think it would be great to see you go back and replay these scenes at the end of a full play-through. And don't worry too much about your decisions. The game has a way of making sure your choices don't end the story.

4:48 As an android, Marcus probably has a perfect memory and would know the lights were definitely not on when they left.
All your interrogation attempts were focused on only raising stress or only lowering stress, and I think that's why you were struggling there and didn't end up with the best result. It's not about having the stress meter be empty or full, it's about having it at the right levels at the right times for whatever you're trying to do.
It's a hard game to not replay. Personally I'm okay with you going back to look at all the options so long as long as you try to mostly stick to your first result unless a big death happens or something. But if you don't want to replay as much or do a second playthrough you could always react to a youtube compilation of different decisions after you finish the game.

    • @LukaelPlays
      @LukaelPlays  หลายเดือนก่อน +5

You simply can't see everything in one run. You kinda have to accept it if you want to enjoy the game. And also you should remember that the game was made with those possibilities in mind: there's no one right answer and hundred wrong ones, they all are right in a way. If you miss one thing you are pretty guaranteed to get smth else in return (maybe not now but later). Don't be afraid and let the game to tell you a story. I understand your fear to loose characters, though, but, you know, some stories just can't end well and that's the point of them.

I think the thought of "He can't feel pain, so it doesn't really matter that he was getting burned by cigarettes." can be really dangerous. There are human medical conditions that prevent people from experiencing pain, but I don't think it's any more okay to hit them than the regular human.
Just because an android is incapable of physically feeling pain, that doesn't mean they can't perceive it in a different way. They are obviously reacting to being assaulted, so who's to say it doesn't hurt them? They might not possess any nociceptors but their processor is clearly telling them they should be feeling pain anyway.

    • @LukaelPlays

I would recommend you to "live with your choices". There are people who already posted the videos of optimal run of the whole game. We are here to see what would you decide and do in certain situations. For the first play through I believe choices should be the first thing that comes to your mind, and the results would be genuine yours. Everyone can be a general after the battle, you shouldn't be general at all, don't think too much about it and just do it.
You can replay the game and go for a second time, then you can go for optimal outcome or the worst possible. 😉

  • @lillykawaiifox
    @lillykawaiifox หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Actually is not weird at all androids are distressed by physical abuse even if they don't feel pain.
There is this condition (wich I forgot the name of) that causes people to not feel physical pain, but that doesn't mean these people will allow you to just break their arm or cut off their fingers. Those people might not feel pain, but they know it's dangerous to get hurt or even deadly (and obviously no one wants to die, regardless if they feel pain or not). And of course there is also the emotional trauma that comes with the abuse.
Same thing applies to androids here! Just because the abuse causes no physical pain, doesn't mean they don't care about being damaged and killed. SPECIALLY deviants! They have a sense of fear and self preservation that regular androids don't, so obviously they would protect themselves even more than the relgular ones.
Also: If you ever replay, you can try to get the confession without losing the android.

  • @christhomasson1148
    @christhomasson1148 หลายเดือนก่อน

About the interrogation chapter. You CAN get a confession without the android killing himself. He only kills himself if his stress level is above optimal.
You just need to stay in the optimal stress levels by balancing your approach once you have reached optimal level. Stressing him when you need to raise it and calm him when you need to lower it.
The "pick an approach" option is a little confusing because you don't need to stick to the initial approach. You can start with pressure, then calm down once you have optimal level. Or vice versa.
After you reached the correct level, you continued to stress him out until he went over the optimal level which is why he killed himself.

  • @theblowpop
    @theblowpop หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The thing is, because you couldn't let the original ending to that interrogation scene stand, you missed out on what would've come next.

You are very hilarious, Lukael. This game does not provide a clean, safe path through the story. You're going to have to go off the 'normal' path to make your way through each challenge. Doing shady things is standard, at times, when you're down and out. Stealing out of necessity is real. Defending yourself out of necessity is real. DBH really makes you feel your decisions. You'll start to see that Androids are not the real problem. Who made them? Who loves convenience at their fingertips? Not Androids. The slaves are not the problem because they didn't ask to be created or enslaved.

This game is specifically designed to be replayed many times with large variation, and 'failure' is not normally a bad choice - don't worry so much about making the 'wrong' decisions, nearly all decisions will progress the story in a meaningful way.
If you really want to see all the possibilities, wait until you have finished the game at least once - you'll have plenty of unexplored options to see, and the story will likely unfold in different ways entirely.

Love your let’s plays and you should do what you want so take this or leave it, but in my opinion you are dangerously close to robbing yourself of the whole point of this experience if you keep replaying scenes.
Sadly you are making assumptions and playing as though this was a typical RPG or adventure game, but that is not what this is. This game is as much or more about the journey than getting to the most optimal ending. You cannot experience everything in one play through, even replaying parts of chapters doesn’t make sense as actions affect multiple chapters and acts. Finally stop looking at the flowchart until the end of chapter, it’s pushing you to meta game and miss the more important aspects of the game. There are elements that you should be focusing on but I’m not sure you’ve realised that.
Having said all that please don’t stop expressing your thoughts and opinions while playing, it’s really refreshing to hear them and bring up lots of interesting points. It’s part of what I love about watching you play games.

Wouldn't it make more sense to build them either with normal human strength (given that human mimicry is the supposed desired outcome) or, as in FO4 with the Synths, have a verbal shut-down code? 14:14 i think for this it's mainly because they want to know the *cause*, or like, what makes the specific android deviant. or what made them "switch".. so they interrogate them. also it's something that never happened before (androids doing crimes) so i suppose they don't actually know how to approach it.
also for the earlier thing at the studio with "maybe they really forgot to switch the lights off" that's the thing, marcus wouldn't forget, carl even said that "you never forget anything do you marcus?" (or something like that..)
yeah i like this approach more without checking the flowchart a lot cause it in turn makes the scenes and gameplay flow better:) but i still like how you're interested in all the branching, cause some people i feel like just skip it and aren't amazed how many options there are to explore so, yeah, i like that part of this gameplay:D looking forward to the next part

I'm late to viewing this episode this week.
I've only just started the episode but there's something I want to correct about what you said after the "broken" chapter at around 11min 25sec (don't worry, not a spoiler or anything, just a little lore correction).
You mentioned that "We've seen so many of these homicides involving androids that it doesn't seem strange...Seems to happen all the time"
Homicides involving androids are seen as extremely rare in this world. There's miss-able information in the first mission of the game - you have to watch the TV screen on the fridge in the kitchen for a news report - that reveals Daniel is the very first ever android to commit homicide (actually even harm to a human at all).
Daniel is the very first Android to harm humans in September 2038, then we jump forwards to Nov 5th to start the rest of the game, when deviancy has begun spreading causing more and more cases of Androids rebelling and harming humans. It would be still be a shock to the public or police force to come across a scene where it appears an android has harmed a human.
It's annoying that the game doesn't provide more information about how rare deviancy was and that Daniel was the first Android to kill a human as this information is so easily missed (I missed it on my first playthrough like you).
It explains why the "public opinion" starts so low as it's now known that there has been at least 1 android committing homicide.
Anyway, going to watch the rest of the episode now so will add more feedback for any questions you throw to us.
You should have played episode 4 by now (maybe even 5), hope you are really enjoying it, and looking forward to seeing the future episodes

@@LukaelPlays yeah, there's a few more examples of world building information and/or details that enhance the overall story that are easily miss-able. Some things you'd imagine the Devs would want the player to know for context. Like you say, a few additional passive NPC comments about the subjects would be ideal.
Thankfully with your play style though, you haven't missed anything else as a lot of this info is provided through the magazines which you've been finding since you are so thorough 👍🏻
Btw, I'm sure you've noticed that things are beginning to get pretty wild now after finishing ep4. Strap in mate, things will continue to get crazier with each chapter moving forward.
Once again, great playthrough so far ✌🏻 I'd definitely recommend a reaction video exploring the extras once you've finished the story - the videos are all really interesting, as are the character bios in the model viewer (although containing soft spoilers so not ideal to read before completing).
In terms of seeing what's on offer that you'll miss in your first playthrough. You could also do an alternative run where you go against your initial instincts, or replay specific chapters to see alternative routes. Either way, I'm sure your viewers would love to see you explore alternative scenes as this game is packed with incredibly well acted scenes that some of us will have never seen!

First playthrough would be the story per se, second one would bring in the setting itself, the possibilities and the conjectures.
Oh and btw don't stress over going back and replaying things if you don't like the way the story is going, its your game and you should experience it the way you want to experience it, its impossible to please everyone and i'm sure there are both purists who want the story to flow and completionists who want you to try everything in your audience, one group will always be disappointed so might as well do things your way.

  • @danielhomant2832

21:36 Ok, gonna call ya out here a bit. This is a huge issue in our own world, always has been and still is, and your reactions to it is a perfect example.
You say about the cigarette burn that if he can't feel then they don't matter.
    And that is utter bullshit.
We as a people focus so heavily on the physical and ignore the emotional. Men and women can yell and argue, children can tease and mock. We can do these things all we want, but as soon as someone raises a hand it becomes suddenly a terrible thing.
Yet, look at people suffering from depression, trauma induced anxiety. Look at people that have cone from abusive homes and relationships. The common factory amongst them all is the emotional trauma they suffer. And most of that is caused not by punches and other physical abuse. It is caused by the INTENT and words that drive and accompany the abuse.
It is so ingrained into western culture to avoid violence and use our words, that it has become twisted to mean say anything, but don't hit.
The game has shown from the beginning that these androids do indeed have feelings and desires of their own. Daniel broke his programming not because he would be replaced, but because he felt betrayed. Programming or intelligence, the results are the same. He FELT the betrayal.
This interrogation shows that this android was openly subjected to physical abuse for months. And hunan nature what it is, those cigarette burns aren't from the result of simply stubbing them out. No. There is no doubt he lived with constant verbal and other physical abuse for years.
The cigarette burns, and other forms of physical abuse aren't the cause.
    It is the symptom.
Verbal abuse carries a far deeper, and more permanent, emotional trauma than physical abuse.
At many times during this playthrough you are inconsistent with your view of the androids. Part of it is you are switching from them as a game, to them as people, and that leads to inconsistencies. Part of it is trying to get an ideal game and find everything, trying to choose the optimal outcomes.
But this game doesn't seem like it was designed that way. Either play it as a game and ignore the story, or invest in it and consider what the androids would do.
Just because they aren't natural, organic humans, doesn't mean they aren't people.
It reminds me of the Star Trek Next Generation episode where they are in court trying to prove if Data is alive or not.
That was stupid because it is meaningless. Cows, pigs, chickens, etc are all alive ve yet we raise them to slaughter for our food. The real question is the same as it is in the game.
Is Data, like these androids, a person? Not human, but a person.

I agree with you, but I feel like I explained as such in the video? I guess maybe I didn't explain it enough lol like yeah they don't feel the physical pain, but it would still hurt them to be attacked, abused, or even insulted and belittled.
Also, especially at this earlier point in the playthrough, I was still getting to learn and understand how the androids even function, and how the deviancy works. A purely robotic android would not care about being abused, but an android that has feelings but whose will is shackled by its programming would.
Why do you consider my view of the androids inconsistent?

You shouldn't do any replaying, if you lose a character then yeah it sucks but it is what happens at a blind playthrough.. However you should do an extra episode after the main series is done where you just explore all options and stuff

Dude overthinks everything, the whole point of the game is going through a custom story told by your decisions and then everything you didn't do is an excuse for replay...

Overthinking everything is how I tend to play most games 😅I can't stop my brain from doing its thing

DON'T LOOK AT THE CHART!!! STICK TO YOUR CHOICES goddamnit
You can do another play through the game failing to do everything. It WILL be entertaining because of your reaction, stop playing god and just do your best normally. I hoped you had forgotten the flow chart (that are only used to complete or experiment with the game after finishing) and just continue to play... You bended to fear, it's fine. But I advice against it.

I’m sorry but personally I can’t keep watching you play this and reloading when you don’t like the outcome, I get wanting to see different paths and not wanting to lose characters but that’s the nature of the game and you can always do another play though for other outcomes, it’s sad as I was really enjoying the way you were playing at first and was willing to let the last episode slip but then you immediately reloaded when Connor got shot and for that reason I just can’t keep watching 😞
