This film is a good exemple of old jungle law "strong survive and weak die". I have to say for the moment therevI was afraid that the robot might lose considering his thin and fragile appereance. I am glad that he survived.
Really neat! Great work! The protagonist reminds me of something out of Star Wars and the recent movie about an inventor who finds a dog and creates a robotic companion to accompany them.
Amazing work, love the idea and implementation. Sound design is really difficult but sometimes just adding more noisy sound effects helps sell the idea even better.
This looks amazing, the camera and the animation and the textures. Also, it is quite hard to do a short with two, completely different environments, here it worked perfectly. The animation on the humanoid robot is very well-done, but what was amazing, that even the insect droid walks realisticly, which - I think - is even harder to do, with more legs. I would say, the sounds are a little bit subtle for me, it is probably the design, but especially at the beginning, sometimes the robot doesn't make that much noise, when e.g.: grabs that concrete wall. Throughout the video, it gets better and better, and on the inside, sounds are pretty good too! Also, the music reminds me of demoscene, which goes very well with the theme of the short, reminds me of the CGI shorts from the early 2000s, wigh a lot of scifi elements.
Thanks for the input mate! This is the first time we made foley, every noise and music is original, recorded in our house with everything we could find. The synth is a home made analogue modular synth. some fun facts: the spider growl is a C64 disk drive reading a disk, the elevator is a VHS player rewinding, etc. I’m glad you enjoyed it :)
Thanks! :) The funny thing is the insect animation is way more easier than the humanoid. If you animate one pair of the legs, all you have to do is do the inverse on the next row, and if it has 6 or more legs, just keep inverting the movement row by row. And it has very little hip (body in this case of course) movement, and also no hands, shoulders, fingers etc.
@@Agerthas69 "the spider growl is a C64 disk drive reading a disk, the elevator is a VHS player rewinding" - :) cool! Once again, amazing short film, and great first foley!
What was in the little containers that they were fighting over. Were they like batteries or some sort of power source I am assuming. Fantastic and joyed it very much would like to have more four-story to see what went on on that planet
My robots are always made of wood, but I am worried about this one's right hand. Is there a place where he can acquire a spare? What is the white power-supply substance? Who made it. See Mr. Baka, you have made such a good video that I have lots of questions!
It took about 1.5 years, but with big gaps (there were months when I did nothing at all). So I would say it took about 4-5 months with 4 hour workdays on average. So yeah, there were a lot of compromises, otherwise I still would be making it :D But my next short definietly won't be longer than 3 minutes, so hopefully I can spend more time on quality while also finishing it a little bit faster.
