Great video, I'm 22 and a londoner and owning a home is going to be a nightmare and impossible for me and always considered just buying a van and making it my own home on wheels. This has been a very helpful video. Thanks for sharing.
hey man, its actually a pretty viable option if you have the basic skills to build one then you can save thousands on rent, especially in London!
Yhh exactly, I'm handy with using tools and the odd job DIY but yhh I feel good to take on the challenge, and not waste it on a property that i would never own... but the van would be my own home away from the mad London
I agree. I converted an Iveco Daily to be "full time liveable". A little tip to make it "full time liveable", you need a washing machine and dryer i spent £25148.83 to fully covert mine, changed to a new engine, and its fine for going round the whole world.
i now saved £26,180 in rent/extras working on £35 per day saving, so its all paid for itself. Converting takes longer than you think. To save time i have pasted my full setup summary.

I live in London and I am in the process of buying a van to start that van life. I really enjoyed watching this video. Even going to watch it again. I was trying to get a Mercedes Sprnter but they are so expensive. After watching this, I will get an Iveco which is far cheaper. Looking forward to the journey. I am able to save so much money each month with the liberty to go when you feel like. Really good to watch.

Thank you for sharing your build. There are so few people who have built out their vans so that you can put a bike underneath without having to take off the wheel to make it fit. I ride my bike EVERYDAY so as silly as it sounds, not being able to put away my bike fully assembled has been a deal breaker for me so far. I also really like the passthrough doorway to your storage area from the inside.

Great van build Ash, love what you've done inside! This is a similar layout I want for mine, high bed and loads of 'garage' space for bikes, paddle board, snowboard etc. Want to make van life a reality for me because I like the freedom of not being tied down to a specific location.

I bought a 2007 lwb high top for 1000 with 114 thousand on the clock 2 owners , I’ve had the same issues with rust, luckily I weld so that was the easy bit, the inside is a different issue, now working out a floor plan . You don well on your van good job ! Also I had to find gearbox back diff ,you name it 😵💫

Inspired by you Ash, we have just driven our 2002 Iveco Iris bus back home (Derby) from Barcelona.
Brilliant trip, called in to see the Gaudi Experience - highly recommended if you're near Reus (where he was born).
Caught up with our old mates in south of France and cruised up the French motorways (at max. 62mph!) & villages (via Bayeux to see the tapestry) and the overnight sleeper boat to Portsmouth. Seats are all out already so the fit-out begins next month. Thanks again for the excellent travel and vehicle info videos.

Such a nice video, grinding the 12 hour shifts away from home dreaming about this in my security cabin, my two bosses take their old traditional RVs to their job sites and maybe I will be able too aswell.
I've got the same van (2005) and I'm just starting the strip out of the interior. Will have a look at the rest of the channel for ideas.

Great video great van, Ivecos are more like a small lorry than a van, I have a MWB 12s that I will be converting this year.
I lived for a year in a chevy G20 twenty years ago, the freedom was amazing!

Nice! I have the same era Daily and just love it. Not quite as long wheel base though. Like you I opted for the high bed and heaps of storage underneath. Good move....love the hatch. Seriously considering this :)
