I've yet to see anybody else come even close to the teaching skills of Kevin......he not only "walks the talk", but has an amazing ability to make your "learning to walk the talk" so much easier to do! Thank you is not enough but guess that's the best I can do for now :-)
Yes'sir... I like it, a style named 52 blocks have an identical way of blocking the jab, and hook punch. it's called, Skull and Crossbones. It works exactly the same way. Top info Sir.
Hands down Kevin is the BEST instructor I have ever seen. I was fortunate enough to attend one of his seminars and hopefully soon after this pandemic, I can fly back to beautiful Montreal to attend another seminar. Thank you for all that you do Kevin! Much love from 🇺🇸
AWESOME VID KS!! Protection of that NECK area is vital.. I would much rather get cut on arm's and hands then a JUGULAR or CAROTID!! I hope all you CANUCKS appreciate that you have KEVIN S in person. In my opinion is one of the BEST teachers I've watched.. 👌👍🔥💥👀
My only question is when a person is punching bare handed, do we want to stick our arms out and take the full fist on the arm or parry the punching hand. I've never tried what you are doing so I really don't know.
Parrying is a distance skill. If the attacker throws from a distance or if you are able to move, avoiding contact is always the priority. When the attacker is able to close the distance or when you are unable to evade shielding is preferable. We don’t want to shield needlessly because we invite the aggressor into our space. Likewise, we don’t want to attempt to parry at close range because the attacker is inside our reactionary gap and too close to be easily avoided. Muhammad Ali was an incredible example of evasion and parrying.n his prime but when his foot speed began to fail him he started shielding more, using the rope-a-door and similar tactics to compensate. Each tactic has its place.
I don’t subscribe to the systema bare knuckle nonsense. We wear pads, gloves, use rubber training knives, mouth guards etc. If your partner honestly punches an elbow shield barehanded, training is done after one rep. We wear gloves because we attack with speed and power.
Gloves are a tool with uses It is the habituation to and dependency on gloves that is dangerous when people strike with bare knuckles but don't know how.

The cross-guard was used by a lot of old school boxers like Archie Moore, I've always seen its value in a self-defense situation
Absolutely . His protégés like Frazier and Norton as well. I love it from my back on the ground
How about against body strikes

@@Combatprofessor Thanks
Greetings Mr. Secours, what is a quality flashlight that a civilian should purchase for their EDC?
Sure fire is a great company. I’m a fan of their stuff
I have their defender which is amazing. Olight is also great
Cool
All excellent, but we are systema, why the boxing gloves, professor?
