In this video i share exactly that and also let you know how ownership of the 4c has been like for the last 8 months. I cant believe i have owned the alfa romeo 4c for that long already! Stef Great review as usual! I was thinking about You yesterday (when should coming your spacers review😁) As a daily I have a Sw here in Italy. My 4C is a superb Toy to be used time time like When You test a Precious Wine. You don’t drink it every day. 👍👍keep it!!

      The rear wheel coverage doesn't look legal, one of the reasons for wheel coverage is not peppering those behind with stones etc. Done 13k in the 4 years I've had mine try adding up the service cost also :-) spent over 2k with a good dealer discount.

    I've had my 4C for over 2 years now and still love it. It's the longest I have kept a sports car and currently have no plans to change it. Its exceptional on fuel efficiency given its performance. Really not sure what else there is at that price point (had a Cayman and a Lotus and got bored with both)

    Great vlog Stef 👍🏻 I have to admit I ❤️ your *4C* .. haven't seen many but the 1's I have do look great❗ good to know about the spacers aswell as I'm just about to get a load of stuff done on mine (Remus Catback + Remus mid pipe + Spacers) I use the *M140i* as a daily too aswell the wife drives it to work so it well used. The spacers definitely make any car look better that's true 👍🏻

    I only have the spacers on the back. Had them in the front, but the stone chips on the side of the car were to much, so I deleted them and in combination with 215/40/18 wheels, the gap is smaller then with standard tyres. But, important: I added shimms to the lower front wishbones. That puts the under side of the tyre a bit more outwards. It's great with the 15mm spacers at the back! I have -2 camber at the front and with the more stable rear it just gave so much more grip. Madness!

    Don't like the spacers Stef. I don't think it looks better with the wheels pushed out. You lose the details of the arches. Personally I don't get why we have this craze of pushing wheels out. It also adds to the road rash.

    • @DDd-hr6mz
      @DDd-hr6mz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. And the car is wide enough, thank you. It also doesn't need any help in the looks department.

    • @rvcasa
      @rvcasa 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, my (other) Alfa wheels are all curb rashed, 'cause they are wider than car itself, making it difficult to see when parking (unless I adjust the side mirrors all the time) !

    • @CAR_NL
      @CAR_NL 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Believe me: in real life it looks so much better. Stef did only one 1 thing wrong. Just add the spacers to the back, and a bit wider tyres to the front. That's the best combination, also looking at the geometry. I have shimms at the lower front wishbones, which put the wheels at the under side a bit more out, so you get more camber. This combination makes the car so much more planted. It just transformed my 4C

    Have a 2015 LE 4C. I bought new. I did put unibals in the lower rear triangle....big improvement in high speed corners as it doesn't allow the suspensiion to change camber as it loads/unleads. I set toe to 0 front and that helps a lot as does junking the stock PZero AR tires. I went to MIchelin 215/245 PSS and with no other changes on the stock race suspension other than a good alignment and 0 front toe, it eliminated 90% of tramming and really improves handling. This is for street and occasional auto-cross....stickier tires would be the Bridgestone 71s for more serious tracking but will wear faster.
    I can see putting spacers or wider wheels as long as the offset is kept at the same front/rear ratio as stock. But I am very much against putting them only on one end. Yeah.....some like the looks as the tires are pushed out a bit....but that is the last reason I would do that. as widening the front wheels track will change the scrub radius and that can have serious complications for handling if you don't do a complete wheel alignment front and back. Those who have widened the track with spacers or wider offset wheels have found the one major issue quickly....it causes grit to sandblast the sides of your car and ruins the paint.
    It seems UK roads seem to have more issues with pavement changes than here in the US so tramming isn't as much of an issue here.

    I had hubcentric spacers on my Leon FR for 5 years until i sold it, never noticed any negative effect in the handling, im thinking of sticking a set on my SLK.

  • @TheCalvinnnnn
    @TheCalvinnnnn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yeh unfortunately spacers are all for looks. They do not do anything positive for driving experience. However I completely understand why you got them. I just dont understand why manufacturers can't give a wider stance/better fitment from factory.

  • @dsguidolin
    @dsguidolin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As a fellow 4C owner who put on spacers, your mistake is that your spacers are not equal. When the front spacer is narrower than the rear, you have changed the geometry. I have tracked my car many times with spacers on and the handling has not changed and now I have the benefit of the looks. The rear wheel looks so much better with the wheel filling out the wheel well. Change your front spacer to be equal to the rear and it will go back to the way it drove before.

    Sold my 4c last month for a Quadrifoglio and allready miss it a lot. The sound & feel are uncomparable. If you want to have fun in the quadrifoglio it has to be absolutely dry for starters (wich it hasn't been for 6 weeks now...) and the moment you push on and feel + hear the car you're speeding in a way they put you in jail in some countries. Luckely here they will 'just' take away your licence for 1-2 months and a fine that will cover your running costs for a year or so... As I daily the car, yes a Giulia is so much more practical then a 4c, but it isn't half the fun. I drove the 4C for 2 years and 38.000kms and had fun every day (once last winter in snow on summer tyres was a bit of an event but still managed to get home without troubles). Like you said their is no other car in that pricerange that offers the same. Once over 500hp you realise that around 300hp was/is al you need to have the best time behind the wheel! Enjoy it as much as you can! (btw did you also get the ecu from Alfaworks? their exhaust is also way better then the race one from factory.)

      Great summary. Not got a map done yet but I think it’s on the list :) haha yeah I am finding that with the Giulia at the moment. It really is a silly quick car lol!

    Do you find that you have to re-torque the spacer bolts every so often? Or is it a one and done deal? As a prospective 4C buyer looking to do the exact same mod you've done, I was curious as to whether it required a little maintenance to keep the bolts tight. Thanks!

    Are you still using the OE Pirelli tyres? I am thinking of changing mine to run on Michelin PS4's... I think the only problem running a 4c as a daily is speed humps.... The car is very low as you know, other than that I think you can run it as a daily (I mostly do)

    Are the spacers only for aesthetics? The 4C is already well known for tram-lining, widening the track (even more than it already is on the WIDE 4C) will only increase this characteristic. If you don't care how the car drives, then this is probably not a problem.

    Look: the car is a toy. It's a motorcycle with four wheels, and that's why most of them have motorcycle mileage on them. If you can afford it as a weekender, great. Just keep an Abarth you can daily with, and it's as close to heaven on the cheap as you'll ever get. Expensive? Yes. For what you get, considering no one is going to daily an exotic anyway, not really.
