I had a full size Star Wars machine in my bedroom for many years! I rebuilt it myself. It even had a flawless amplifone vector monitor which I did the upgrades on. Clean CRT!!
But like anything, at some point the nostalgia wears off and the giant machine was sold to a theme restaurant where it lives on. I am honestly glad I didn't have to haul it cross country when I moved, but those were good times. I miss arcades, despite my age today.
I do still have a rom copy of it. This game looks amazing on the color vector.

I would have never imagined that an oscilloscope could be used as a vector graphics display. I mean, of course it can now that I think about it; just that I would never have come up with the idea to use it to run a game.

This is how the first arcade cames did it, back whenthe concept of video-ram was expensive as heck.

Running an oscilloscope in X-Y mode is a pretty practical way of testing the system without requiring the original CRT. By the way, you can mod an oscilloscope into a TV set. My grandfather used to do that for fun!

I played Starwars for years, and I'd never heard Luke say, "Look at the size of that thing."

very cool! would have liked to see a little more about your controller and how you interface to an oscilloscope and speaker though

Thanks. These vids are really just tests for customer repairs, so they can see their boards running. I hope to do more full rundowns on the supergun kit and games at some point.

You probably dont care about how many veiws you get, but changing the name of this video will help people find it, if its something they are looking to see again.

I think it's pretty cool using an oscilloscope as a display. Can it display composite video?

Vector displays don't function as raster displays. At least not easily.

Not directly. But there are circuits to do this.
