      Thank you! A Star Trek Captain's Chair would be great to have! I couldn't find any plans with a quick search, but there are plenty of pictures out there and you can probably ask around at the Arcade Museum forums for people who own one to take measurements. You may even find one near you to look at if needed (I didn't have anyone near me with a SW cockpit). Good luck and please let me know if you build it.

    Saw you on BKongs Next Level. This is an amazing build sir. Absolutely beautiful. Extremely well planned and executed.
    I’ve been more of a EM arcade collector although I grew up in the golden age of arcades late 70’s early 80s.
    Initially built a 60 in 1 so I could play golden age games in a gutted trash pile find of a Space Invaders.
    At the beginning of December I bought several Arcade1Up cabs. Joust, Tempest, Tron, Dragons Lair, Golden Tee 3D, Ridge Racer. The one I could not get my hands on was Star Wars.
    I laughed when you said you bought a lot of Glen’s components. I literally bought everything he had for sale to upgrade my A1Us.
    Including the Star Wars yoke. Not sure why but I also bought the components without the A1U cabinet to build one off EBay.
    So now I am at the point after watching BKongs for quite some time I’m going to build a cockpit. Your video has given me the confidence to do so.
    Love what you are doing with the Trilogy built too. Thanks for sharing this with the arcade community!

    • @angelorusso3219
      @angelorusso3219  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Sharing is caring, and as you said it builds confidence that anyone with the desire can build one yourself. Really, it takes motivation, time, and money - create that Venn diagram to show how we all have one or two, but not all three!
      As I said in Bee's interview, I had already bought the A1Up Star Wars cab along with Glen's yoke and initially wanted to mod it in the customary A1Up fashion. Mod searching took me down the cockpit rabbit hole. I was inspired and amazed by many Star Wars cab/cockpit projects out there. I believe I found every restoration of an original as well as custom new builds on the internet. I bookmarked everything, saved hundreds of photos for reference during the build process, and then started to purchase tools and parts. It was just finding the time to build it in between my 8-5 job, my side job that pays for all my toys like this, my light show which I'm usually consumed with planning sequencing and building throughout the year, and not seem like I'm ignoring my wife to get this done. Thankfully, "free" time came at the right time and the cockpit came together quickly. It's actually taking longer to refurb the Trilogy cab than it did to build the cockpit as now my extra time is scarce.
      Good luck on yours. Post pics and progress in the Starcade group (which will also keep you motivated).

    • @angelorusso3219
      @angelorusso3219  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I love building things and being creative, and if I could help you or anyone mod their cabs I would. Building this cabinet, even with most of the work done by Perefractic/Retro Recipes and and Classic Arcade Cabinets, I put in 2 months of research before I started cutting the first piece of wood and put a lot of thought into everything while piecing it together... then doing more research on ideas I kept coming up with and the best ways to implement them. If I recorded the build process, I would have to cut out so much of me standing there pondering "what if" or "how do I" or finding less expensive alternatives. If I had the time and resources to do this full time, I absolutely would. But that also makes it a job and honestly less fun because now I have customers to think about, make happy, and possibly support should things go wrong. I hope that I can at least bring inspiration, ideas, and show that anyone can do this themselves. Even if you have no technical background, you can follow build plans to make the cabinet, then just buy the guts with one of those off-the-shelf 10k games unit, or get a

    Money/ time/ effort for a project on a Movie series THAT IS DEAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @angelorusso3219
      @angelorusso3219  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To each is own. I enjoy both Star Wars and Star Trek. I'm not a fanatic of either. I wanted an arcade machine for emulation and I was going to build one from scratch anyway. I saw RR converted his A1Up into a cockpit sandwich and brought me back to my days playing this in the arcade. I only had to add a bit of extra time and material to my original plans. For me, the challenge of building it was my motivation. It's a rare recreation of history (only 2,400 original Atari cockpits were made in 1983), a good conversation piece, and a fun/versatile emulated arcade machine. Should I ever sell it, there are many that would line up to buy it. I've already had a few offers to buy it or requests to have me build one for them - all appreciated but graciously turned down. To me, it represents by far the best of what SW offered through the original Trilogy. The movies since have their place... good or bad. Disney owns the IP and it will never be dead, but probably never be good again. If you stated "on a movie series THAT IS NOT GOOD ANYMORE" your opinion would be more respected. But that's the great thing... that we can have our opinions and debate them.
