    Both the regular Chevy Silverado and the 4 cylinder version are combined together in this video for trucks that won't make it to 100,000 miles,
    that's why it's 5 trucks in the title and only 4 sections mentioned in the video

      The 4 cylinder Chevy is a turbo all they did was traded off the 2 cylinder for the turbo. I've been noticing alot of manufacturers doing that. Like Nissan they got rid of the v6 option for the Altima and made a 4 cylinder turbo. All in all I think all these turbo vehicles are gonna fail sooner to keep people buying new cars every 4 years or so since quality has gone down hill across the board, and manufacturers only care about is profits. Not all are bad, some are better then others.

      I worked for a company and we had 2 ram 2500s an 1 3500. They never saw the highway, drove in the same neighborhood doing yardwork and plowing. 2009, 11 and 13. None of them could go more than 3 months without needing work, starting the day they were bought. One had constant wiring harness issues and transmission programming problems, it went to the dealer twice a year for weeks at a time and just like he said they never fixed much, they let it sit for up to two weeks at a time just to punish us for sending it back. Once they said the trans was in limp mode because we installed rear axle air bags. The other two had tranny malfunctions requiring a tow within the first five years. All three had driveline issues constantly, mostly in the front end. They used wheel bearings, axle hubs and steering system components at insane rates and every single job took twice as long as it should. The two fords we had that were 2003 and 2007 needed shop time at probably one tenth of the rate until the 03 was about 13 years old when it started to really age and even then it was half of what the dodges saw. All the trucks had the same use and upkeep. They guys I worked with that ran their own rams all got rid of them, except for one who could afford to buy new, for other brands because they were dealing the same things. Not trustworthy, no support.

    I had a 2002 dodge ram 1500 that truck had 289,000 miles on it when I traded it in and still had the factory transmission. The only problem I had was the fender rot that almost all dodges have. If you keep up on the fluid changes and all the other mateience and wash it on a regular basis then there should not be any issues.

    • @theundeadbeholder284
      @theundeadbeholder284 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In 2007, I bought a 2003 RAM 1500. I just rebuilt the original transmission at 247K miles, and the engine was rebuilt at 207K miles. I didn't have any rust problems, but maybe that is because I live in Nevada and the humidity is almost non-existent here.
      I have heard many people bashing the 3rd Gen Dodge RAMs during the years, but in my experience, they will be dependable vehicles if you properly maintain them.

A generation who's dad's didn't pull a trailer down 95 and attempt to pass a semi going 80 mph with a full truck and trailer. You end up with a ricer engine that uses diesel tech. (Sky Active) technology to allow fast and furious fantasy to meld with a truck. Perfect engine for people who buy a truck to have it decorate their driveway. Better not drive it much. Chevy did a Chinese style knock off of V-tec on that 4 banger and they included cylinder deactivation too.. cause yeah. Your 1/2 ton Chevy will get better gas mileage if it can run on one cylinder.

    An easy way to see which vehicles are junk. Go look at a few used vehicle lots and see what they have most of. If there is allot of a certain type dont't buy that vehicle. When I was looking for a truck a few years ago I did this. Every lot was filled with used dodge trucks. This tells me allot of people were not happy with there dodge.

These are Dana 44, same as my 63 Studebaker, Jeeps, Dodges and bunch of other American vehicles. Part of failue is dint break in as instructed and since Titan was first American made light truck rated for 9300 lb towing (forcing the others to catch up) many overloaded them. Way advanced, 6 bolt main bearing DOHC engine awesome, fully boxed high stregth steel frame, no complaints.

When I got it it had a Stinger pcu, headers and all kinds of other bolt-ons and I drove it like it owed me money. I would much rather have a vehicle with intermediate sized engine that makes mediocre power and gets mediocre fuel economy but lasts forever than a truck that has all the power and tech but isn't reliable and I have to sell kidneys to pay repair bills on. @@andretigiovaneti7587 The largest repair I had to make on it was having the TIPM replaced, which is a poorly made module that apparently affects a lot of Chrysler cars.
      The horn started randomly honking and then my car would randomly shut off while driving or idling. I took the car to the local Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/Ram/Fiat dealership and it took them almost a year to properly diagnose my car because they couldn't duplicate the problem... even though if you Google this part they eventually replaced, the exact symptoms it was having were there and it seems to be a huge problem for Chrysler cars made between 2007 and 2014. So not only is the car and its parts poorly made, but the Dodge mechanics seem to not know much about these cars either.
      I have subsequently had to replace the alternator and the thermostats. Now the car needs a replacement ac actuator.
      The car has 85k miles on it, so maybe the smaller stuff is normal repairs, but trying to figure out why my car is doing weird stuff that no one seemed to have the answers to has been a scary experience for a woman who doesn't know much about cars.
      If this car was not still under a ridiculously upside down auto loan, I probably wouldn't have cared about the car problems as much.

    Made the decision the next day to look for a Tundra. Figured if I'm not wanting to spend a lot of money on a truck, buying a high mileage Toyota was going to be better than buying a high mileage anything else, except maybe Ford (got an '02 MPV, which is a essentially a Ford, that has over 270k on it and still runs pretty well).
    By the end of Wednesday, I had myself a "new to me" 2001 Tundra with 205k on it that doesn't leak a drop of oil. Just needed a little brake work, new struts, and a transmission fluid change. Going to be replacing the timing belt and water pump here in a few days as well, once the parts arrive.
