I recall my Grandfathers mantra on wooden handled and indeed wooden tools. He said, “boiled Linseed Oil, One a week for a month, Once a month for a year, Once a year for life”. My Father had many of his tools and followed the same principle. Proof in point was; I loaned one of my Grandfathers garden forks to my nephew. He did his digging in my garden but lost the fork.
A year later I was digging for a hard standing to place a shed and dug it up!
One year in the ground and it was almost as if I had loaned it yesterday.
We live in ‘throw away’ times: Medication, tools, people and beliefs. Our history though had the answers for longevity of tools and life.
👍👍👍
A Mantra that has stood the test of time.
Raw linsseedoil is best, penetrates deeper and has no lead and other metals or stuff in it. That is what they used in the old days and on millitary rifles too. Just a tip.
I'm Saxon, but I love Viking stuff. Thanks!
I love axes! The ax is the machete of the north. Being in the timberland without an ax is like being in the jungle without a machete.
I wish they would have sponsored you.
I trust your evaluation.
No need to apologize for sponsorships. I trust that you won't promote something you don't like.
Thank you Bjorn!
So manly it has a beard
So does my ex wife
you beat me to it 🤣🤣👍@@jfilm7466

Edge weapon amd tool content is always awesome. I recently was inspired by this channel to take a sog tactical axe head and mount onto a custom hickory handle wrapped in full grain leather
Hello, from the heart enjoy all that you talk about.
The small Skeggox is great! I've done a review on it too, I really like it-- came out of the box sharp as hell, I did lightly sand and finish the Ash handle with Linseed Oil, love it.
I love how you carved the handle, not only looks ergonomic but it also looks great.
Looks like I am picking up another axe. You were the final reason that I picked up my last one. Small forest axe. I love everything about it.
Love it all!!!
The cabin looks great! I love the ax, thank you for sharing.
A few years ago I found a large, antique Hewing axe. It was such a thing of beauty that I had to have it. I think I paid $60 for it and it was well-used but taken care of. I used it to make some timbers and it is really satisfying but a serious workout lifting that head and the flakes flying. I sometimes wonder if there are any buildings still standing with timbers hewed with this axe. Ever since then, I've had a thing for axes. If you think about it, the axe was a pivotal invention. It made all kinds of things possible.
*I WAS NOTIFIED*
Wow, it's a miracle! No, seriously, I am glad to hear that.
I grew up in the Northwoods of New England on the Canadian Border. We still used axes and small saws in the woods,, especially as children. It was the young boys job to scamper along the felled logs with an axe to limb the trees ahead of the men who would run the chain saws to cut the trees into logs or firewood. I learned to be nimble at an early age. Lol. I have a few axes, hatchets and splitting mauls now. And a few decent saws. Setting and sharpening a saw is becoming a lost art. Just as using a scythe. I am looking forward to retiring back to my land.
Awesome axe - I picked up 4 of them from Grimfrost earlier this year and did some handle and blade refinishing.
Grimfrost has some nice stuff. Ordered quite a bit from them in past and happy with purchases
Thanks for sharing Bjorn! Enjoyed the reveal!
I like it. Looks light enough an older lady like me could use it.
A very nice and light-weight = Gotta have!
Excellent demo. I am excited to get one for firewood chores. Thank you
Lovely Bjorn,I'd love an axe that is lightweight and well made my hands are small and that one looks perfect. Thanks for letting us see it .I want one.martha on the hill in Cornwall uk.
Nice axe Bjorn! Love the cabin also!
Definitely a nice looking axe thanks for sharing.👍
Would love more content about the viking cabin
You will find videos on that on my main channel, in the Viking playlist.
Love your reviews, thank you!
axes of various sizes gain some of their popularity as a tool that can be used effectually as a weapon or a backup weapon. Cutting firewood, cutting logs for a tent. Logging. very useful for both travelers and farmers and general survival. Small axes are easy to carry and transport. Spears are one of the most common weapons. Cheap and affordable and can be thrown like throwing axes and daggers. Goths developed some very effective throwing axes that was effective as melee weapons and used it in one of their rebellions against the roman empire. The axe was able to crack roman shield when thrown and in melee. Less effective at breaking shields used by the Germanic tribes like the Danes and Saxons Roman use large light thin wooden shields.
Gotta love a bearded axe
Very nice Fibula. And I love your hood, yes its grey I know, but just, just a little bit different than the others LOL
I’ve been eying this one for a while, just waiting for my finance to allow such a fine addition. Quality items worth the asking price from Grimfrost.
It appears to be the small Skegox. It IS a high quality item. Skal
Very cool. Take care Bjorn 💕
I'm seriously considering buying this axe and have it sent to Canada even though I could go somewhere local or, heaven forbid, Amazon. I'll look at sucking up the cost just because I feel Grimfrost knows what they are doing. As well, this is the second time watching this video that introduced me to your channel.
Definietly would like to see reviews on old Norse clothing from Grimfrost
Simple, yet stylish - I love it!
EVERYTHING is PERFECT AGAIN
awesome, thanks!
Looks great! I’d love to try one out.
Great looking axe. It looks like something I'd love to be seen with.
nice axe, i only have 1 axe and its a Frankish throwing axe with a small head but i am yet to try it out in some bushcraft. awesome videos Bjorn, Thanks.
I will get this axe. 🤘💪⚡️
Glad you're still around...thanks for the review.
Awesome little axe
Cheers Bjorn ☕️
yes, a very nice bearded axe ... found here on Amazon, in the US (Well, several kinds) NIFDO Viking Axe of Ragnar Lothbrok - Handmade Outdoor Axe - Camping Hunting Tool - Leather Sheath - Anti-Slip Handle Grip for 55.00 US
Excellent stuff as always Bjorn
you look happy :) have a great day.
I was just looking at this axe along with a few others. It's surprisingly hard to find bearded axes for bushcraft that aren't ridiculously expensive.
Use angle grinder I do this to mine 1. Saves weight 2. Looks cool 3. Could be used to throw
In eastern Europe, this shape is regular for an axe, and they cost like 10 EUR
Love this video like all the others. Thank you for sharing! 😊
Hell yeah!!! Fantastic to see the viking cabin again. Thank you sir.
That is a fine axe. Thank you for sharing.
Enjoyed your video
Great vid and yes looks a great axe

Great tool for alot of things...love your hut...
😊love your cabin Bjorn ..very cool...
Thanks for the recommendation. I like this ax, maybe I'll buy it at some point.
I think axe is such a great tool and weapon. And hey, I'm so happy to see your viking cabin again! I like all the viking gear and stuff. Thank you for sharing always and stay strong!
I love my Grimfrost axe as well!
Got to have it!
Really enjoyed this one. Smiled when you said you adjusted the handle, my father often does the same with his tools.
Thank you Bjorn ❤
I was notified by YT about this video being uploaded… !
Than you for the timely review and recommendation. Looks to be an excellent axe . I’ll be looking into ordering one .
😮😊very nice ax there. I have several axes and hatchets . I have a couple that have a wicked beard 😊that beard could penetrate well. I use my hatchets for carving spoons and camp chores. Take care 😊
Miss the fire side chats in the woods. That axe would bring the comfort of a small warming fire as we watch the last of the leaves fall before the snow blankets the landscape. Surviving into winter.
A wonderful Axe!!! The Viking Cabin looks so nice now. ..stay safe, see you soon!!!
Nice looking axe for sure.
Looks very balanced ❤
Nice axe Bjorn. I'm going to see if I can find them.
Nice gear! I've bought a lot of things based on these kind of recommendations, and have no complaints!
Looks like a really nice axe!
I probably shouldn’t be watching this at a time when I’m thinking about thinning out my axe collection. 😅
Now that is a nice axe.
I love Grimfrost's products. I have the big two handed broad axe and am planning to get one of the smaller ones.
I love Grimfrost!
Been looking at them for a while, I purchased my sword and many other items from Grimfrost... this will be added to my collection when I have the funds. Cheers brother.
great vid brother (Y)
oh my now I need this
Love the axe, I have one about that size, however not as cool as yours! Mines not bearded, LOL. Love your cabin and your outfit❤.
Bjorn you should create a playlist of "Axe Cooking" !!
Nifty.
Just watching get your buyout ready
What do you mean by that?
Wonderful review Bjorn my friend, have a wonderful day! Been a while bröder.
Thank you kindly. I know, I will be back with more frequent videos here.
Thanks for the review. I'm looking at getting a couple of bearded hatchet and axe in the coming months. Grundfos near the top of the list.
I'm not in Scandinavia, but I have ordered and followed Grimfrost for a long time. I like their message and products. I'm not sure what kind of relationship you may have with Grimfrost Bjorn, but they have recently acquired I think 5 viking ships , and are looking for like minded people to row.. just a thought.
I like your axe !
I love that ax.
I need an axe like that !
Nice axe i like it
I always get your notifications. Weird, huh!

.

The bearded axe is great but the Galgo brooch is awesome as well! 🤗
Hej HEL-LO ! From the Upper Peninsula of Michigan
Grimfrost !
Given the choice, I'll always opt to use pine tar on wooden handles. While linseed oil is nice, the pine tar beats it by a mile in terms of looks and performance, imo. Natural anti-microbial action, plus it's a tradition that goes back a thousand years. What's not to love?!?
Axebeard is my middle name!
I'm currently rocking the CRKT Berserker axe myself
