Gilbert Mendez, I bet The God of The Hebrews responding with an encore performance of plaguing Egyptian themed Las Vegas Sin City with Locusts, the likes of the 10 plagues described when Mosed walked the earth with his book Exodus, proves that that story in The Bible is true. Once upon a time approximately 3300+ years ago, God with Moses and Israel performed divine intervention and crushed Egypt and their Pharaoh at that time. And it's only the beginning of his encore performance that we have heard the wonders of, from generation to generation. BOOK IT!
In your face Gilberto. Never doubt The LORD God Almight and The Son of God The One True King Jesus Christ, The Lion of Judah, The Root of David. The hype for this was unreal, I remember my parents and my grandmother all sitting and watching this game and we didn't partake in any Christmas festivities until it was over.
Remember this very well, I was 17 at the time in my Junior year of high school. At this time the Kobe and Shaq soap-opera was the biggest story in basketball. Kobe and Shaq's relationship was highly publicized in the media, and this was a time before social media blew up. Even if you were not a Lakers fan, and you followed the NBA, you understood the drama here. It was just a lot of curiosity of how the scene would with Kobe and Shaq on opposite teams for the first time since Kobe has been in the NBA. People wanted to see would they acknowledge each other, would Kobe drive the lane with Shaq in the middle, would there even be some words or an altercation between the two. It was interesting to see what was such a great duo winning 3 NBA Championship's devolve into them separating because they could not just co-operate with each other. I remember being a little upset when they broke up even though the writing were on the wall especially after that debacle in the finals against Detroit because I was a fan of the Kobe-Shaq, and Phil dynamic. But in the end it was what was best for all involved.
These kind of videos have been therapy for me as a basketball fan. Thanks SB Nation. Can't wait for your other Kobe videos to help tell his unforgettable story.
I remember this hype so well. There was even a entire episode of the TV show "Scrubs" dedicated to a character trying to get home to watch a recording before he got the result spoiled for him. I didn't remember how it ended, and I don't know why, but when Kobe missed that three I unexpectedly burst into laughter. Something just hit me as funny.
Formula 1, 2008 Brazil, last corner. Two guys fighting for the championship and it got decided in the last corner, of the last lap in the last race ! This needs a rewinder episode !!
"It's not something that I have time to think about, because I'm not that type of player." This would be akin to Shaq trying to convince us he's not black.

A 42 Win team was good enough for the 4th seed in the eastern conference. In the west that year, the Nuggets were the 8th seed with 43 wins. Let that sink in and realize how much the 2000s eastern conference sucked ass outside of the Pistons, the only consistently good team in the east for that decade.
@@jayjames4629 The Pistons made 7 straight conference finals and were good for the entire decade. Great video, I remember this iconic game, I was like I don't think Kobe made that shot, but the game was still a HUGE deal. I'm impressed you really set the scene for this great moment even thought he didn't make it. Most other content creators would have passed on this for just that.

Was born in 98 so I don’t remember this game (let alone most Christmas games that I’ve watched). I think that’s y they did it on this one. It’s less memorable so for a younger generation like myself, a lot of us thought Kobe was going to make it
I'll never forget Christmas 2004 mainly for 1 reason... it was the 1st time in my lifetime (was 12 years old) where it snowed in new orleans!! 1st time I picked up/got Hit by a snowball. & after I had fun outside, I was in the house watching this game!
I remember watching this game when i was a kid as a huge Kobe fan, and I left with so much admiration and respect for D Wade. Wade is my 2nd fave player.
This Video is Gold! I Love The Lakers and I'm a Lakers Fan Kobe and Shaq are Unstoppabble! Unfortunately this Happens But I'm Still a Fan of Both of these players! thanks SB Nation for This!
Alex Collins It started with Kobe being a fan of Shaq’s even meeting him as a child while he was playing for the Magic having a pleasant exchange to being ganged up on by Del Harris (Lakers coach 1994-99) for being a high school drop out forced to play garbage time off the bench (for 2 and a half seasons) until he became a good defender ending him playing time, Shaq calling him “Showboat/Showbe” and the rest of the roster followed. That’s where their issues stated. I’d love to make a video about it myself actually.
they did an interview together where they said it wasnt really a beef, they have a ton of respect for each other, all this 'beef' was just a way to get them both fired up as team mates, which went a bit too far in the end, and after that a way to motivate themselves
Yeah me and my Moms was apped for that game! She was on Shaq side during the beef with Kobe and I was behind Kobe 110% And that damn miss by Kobe broke my heart
Warren Pricefield I agree. That’s a reason to why Kobe and him had such an tumultuous relationship, Kobe grew up a fan and was envious of Shaquille’s physical gifts but filled with repugnance of his lack of work ethic as he saw it as wasted talent while busting his ass to overcome his own debilities and being told by Phil to take the backseat. I adore Shaq (he’s in my top 5-10) but yeah when he demanded crazy money as an aging and injured center of course they would’ve picked younger, cheaper more talented and projected to be the new/next Micheal Jordan. It was a business move as he admitted in their interview together. While still drying any drama will Kobe just flat out told him us Shaq was being diplomatic they didn’t liken each other but respected each other’s game, but Kobe as well as Shaq was ready to catch a homicide at times. Btw, all that just makes Shaq look so much greater in my eyes, he was running of natural talent he came in with the same game as he went out with.
Do one on Steven Bradbury's Olympic gold medal in Salt Lake City in 2002. Bradbury's story is fantastic but that final also featured Apolo Anton Ohno and a young Hyun Soo Ahn who would go on to become the GOAT of shorttrack.
It’s crazy to me that not many people in the comment section know about Kobe vs Shaq. This was HUGE even if you weren’t watching the NBA you knew about this because it was on the news. This game was a big deal after Shaq left Kobe after winning all those years with him, on top of that they had beef with each other, another layer being who was the true better player Kobe or Shaq? This all boiled down to this one game on Christmas.
What I remember most about this game was that as a Lakers fan living somewhere in L.A., I was a bit "torn" during this game bec during the Shaq-Kobe feud in the Lakers, I was among the fans who were on Shaq's side. Kids these days don't know it but the Shaq-Kobe rift was so intense that it actually divided the fan base in L.A..
