Bonds was my favorite player, and I will say that Jeff Kent should and will be in the Hall of Fame. Congrats to both of their careers. They made good money and were great players.

Jeff got the good pitches bc he was batting 4th after bonds who had a great on base percentage which allowed him to accumulate more RBIs and got him an mvp award as a result in 2000.

Being a friend and teamate of Jeff's through high school, i can vouch for his ability to piss people off , he is quite the spoiled brat, one instance was when we were going to a connie mack summer leaague game in 1983-84, he was in the back seat and i was in the front , and he said something to me and i returned it back on him and he didnt like what i said bc we laughed at him and so he tgot angry and took my hat off my head from the back seat and threw it out the window,. As we were driving., My brother , who was driving stopped the car and I got out and retrieved my hat.
At the time i never thought he would become such great player as well as a great pain in the ass! The interesting thing is , his parents ( dad being a cop) and mom, were some of the nicest people you could ever meet. And for the most part so was Jeff.

While all that was going on, I thought, "Barry, what is your problem?!" I didn't understand it. It didn't make sense to me. I think Jeff stood up to 'im. Good 4 him!

I enjoyed Jeff Kent s time in Houston as an Astro he played about as good as he did everywhere else and as an Astros fan I appreciated that, the Astros were better I wish he’d stayed one more season in Houston because they could of used his bat in the 2005 World Series because the Astros were swept by the White Sox

@MatthewBaumgarten So funny enough i have been working on that team as my first "Forgotten Season" as growing up that was the first time i saw a pure pitching powered team dominate. I know the 01 diamondbacks were also great but i was 9 at the time and didnt get to watch that team like I did the 05 Stros.

Giants should've never let Kent leave. Edgardo Alfonzo was an expensive yet dismal replacement at 2B (OPS+ of 90, 95, 76 in his three years in SF). Can't help but think there was some ego involved with Sabean letting Kent walk.

The dude is obviously a pretty well-known jerk. But, being a jerk shouldn't effect his gigantic hof snub! He is statistically one of the greatest hitting 2nd baseman of all time! All time people! It's just ridiculous.

There is also what I believe a race factor. Jeff Kent and Barry Bonds have vastly different experiences. Bonds grew with a distant father who was hurt by the racism he experienced in America. Kent's father was more closer to his son, and also a police officer; a profession not known for being open minded especially when it comes to race issues. Kent thus grew up believing hard work/blue collar ethic was enough with most likely a conservative ideology. Bonds was reminded that fame couldn't protect you from being judged by the color of your skin. Jeff Kent, during his career, was praised by sportswriters and fans for being a "hard-working player" who wasn't a diva. As if Barry Bonds wasn't this intelligent, hard working player (which he was). He won the MVP one year over bonds which today looks absolutely insane especially when Bonds was ALWAYS the better player. Kent's ego did things that Bonds would have gotten heat for like injuring himself on motorcycle, lying to the team about it, bullying teamates, to complaining bout typical rookie hazing. In fact, kent was reported to have openly disparaged women and homosexuals to reporters. But kent was white and more accommodating to reporters. And yes, bigotry/violence towards women in sports is something more or less tolerated still today and certainly back then. Recall, bonds has been accused of domestic battery. It just goes to show that Kent wasn't exactly the person he proclaimed himself to be.
Whether or not his scholarship for female college athletes showed a change, I cant say.
If kent goes to the hall, it feels like its a slap in Bonds's face and baseball history when you realize Bonds was the greater player (although i am not sure if i would vote bonds in because of the domestic violence accusations). You have to wonder how many rbis Kent accumulated because bonds was batting before him.
Asa defender, kent is surprisingly bad. His jaws, and peak are also below what you would want from a hof second basemen.

Bonds suffers from the oppressed gene. Which is hilarious since his entire life he has lived in privilege.

A much shorter list than people who hated Barry Bonds. I hope he rots in obscurity.

Nah, greatest value player even before roids. Waaaaay better than Griffey. Two consecutive seasons of 200+ ops+ is unreal... KG jr best seasons in the ninties were regular seasons for bonds, or worse... Even with his 56 homers... Compare the war and ops+

Nobody cares who bonds hated in baseball.
As soon as he loved steroid, he was hated by baseball.
