I picked up my own ex30 that's identical to the press car you're getting... Yellow twin ultra. I really love it. Thanks for covering Volvo so sincerely, it helped me a lot to understand what to expect!
My wife wanted the same… after my very bad range experience during the last 5 month with my xc40 I’ll buy a Model 3, owner’s reviews in the forums are way better.
Great video Kristian. Unfortunately for me i would give up all of those updates for the one most needed update in the EX40 is changing the ultra outdated infotainment system to they much nicer one in the EX90. They could also work more on improving charging speeds and range. So personally i will still look for mid size EV SUV with other car makes.
I ruled out the MY24s from my search for my next vehicle because they suffer in range in comparison with my target. Slightly low range when paired with their slower charging makes puts these vehicles slightly down my list of targets. If the MY25s either improved their charging curves or battery chemistry to get longer range, then they would move right back near the top for me. My wife currently drives the XC40 B5 Plus and I really like it. I'd consider the EC40 Black if range got closer to 300 miles and charging time was closer to 20 minutes than 30. As it stands, the EX30 Twin is more attractive because it has longer range and gets to 80% faster, if only slightly, AND it is faster.
The range got significantly bumped with the MY24 lineup. Bigger battery, faster charging and longer range. But see your point. Could always be better, but the XC40 range vs EX30 are actually quite a bit more. The XC40 has a WLTP on up to 570 km, and the EX30 has a WLTP on up to 470 km. Depending on motor setup. Also higher charging speed. 205 kW peak vs 153 kW 👍
@@volvo_kristian I heard the XC40 could take 30-32 minutes to get to 80, depending upon conditions, while the EX30 was 26 minutes. And I only compare dual motor specs, since if never get a single motor EV.
Kristain, as a C40 owner I was especially interested in the rear-view camera accessory, which evidently will be integrated into the shark fin. I have a favour to ask. Could you use your influence with Volvo to get them to offer that accessory as a retrofit for earlier year C40's? Incidentally, I could see some XC40 owners being interested in that as well, such as those who often have big dogs in the back.
Wonderful news! I spoke to someone at my local dealer (in Canada) who knew about it but said no details regarding price and availability are available at this time. I have great expectations for it and look forward to your review. If you could include approximate installed cost in Norway that would be great.
Also, in terms of colors, I can see in volvo's site (greek one) that E models come only with black top color. My MY24 Recharge ER is full body Silver dawn color. Now all options come with two-color configuration. black top + the selected color for the rest of the car. Don't know if color options depend on region/country, probably not. Btw, it should be really nice if we could have any news of upcoming volvo's models for 2025 and 2026. Any replacements(new models) for ex40, ec40, xc60 and when these replacements are scheduled? 2026? 2027?
Yeah Volvo have made some changes to the color combinations. Regarding upcoming cars. Next car are the EX90, that's already released. But Volvo will also release Something elSe Sweet in the 90 range tight year. Then next year I'm hoping we're getting the long-awaited electric X in between 40 and 90
Just got my MY24 this week. I'm told the performance upgrade will be available via a software upgrade. However my lease company clearly say I must not install software updates that affect performance 😞Can't see anything on the MY25 id want. Hoping for more tweaks to the charge curve, from what i've seen there is an odd dip in the curve from 70% ish
Yeah, I also mentioned here that's its available as an software update. Regards to the charging curve, I personally don't find it weird. Always tapers down when reaching high SOC
The bit I find odd is 73% to 90% it drops rather than following a nice line. It seems to recover. Will try again at the end of the week when I next charge
The biggest weakness of the xc40 and c40 is heavy consumption. Software bugs and instability is also a big problem. In addition, due to the bad range, the car is about 20% too expensive.
@@volvo_kristian It is tricky trying to sort through the latest changes. But here is what I see: MY24 P2 RWD: 320 mile range, 295 HP. EX40: 293 mile range, 248 HP. Different motor - or just different software? Polestar announced the MY24 inverter is 10% more efficient than MY23. Do you know if they have the same inverter? They sure seem to test differently.
Bad range; my xc40 extended range rear wheel has a very bad range, not even close to the advertise 580kms, about 400kms if I make them below 90kms… Change the colours, the name… whatever… first and last Volvo I ever bought, very sorry I didn’t go for the Tesla. I leave in Portugal, temperature is better for the battery, still… I imagine if I leave in ª northern country I couldn’t use the car to make 100 kms without charging. 😂

5:44 me worrying you would almost fall into the water, lol! Good video mate
Hehe 😂 Yeah, that would be something. Thanks
Nice light interior color and also the black color. So nice
Yeah, looks nice 😎
Good video, good information. I will order my ex40 this week. Thanks

I couldn't agree more regarding the infotainment ...
Love the number plate.
Hehe 😂 yeah
Would love an EX40 but sadly higher priced than my budget! Keep the videos coming.

At least in Germany, the stupid all-season tires are now optional (250€). The vehicle comes with summer tires.

Yeah, I'm actually trying to look further into this. Have booked a C40 during Easter so will make a update on it soon.
Great news. It's available to retrofit it as accessories. It's expensive but at least possible. Available now

bonuspoints for the license plate 🙂
Volvo need to change their wheels and tyres. Current wheel (rim) flushed out with tyre and it easily subject to curb side damages.
Hello Kristian
Are the acc going off with something on the hook; as it is in the EX30. Or do you still have a Cruise control ?
The biggest weakness of the xc40 and c40 is heavy consumption. Software bugs and instability is also a big problem. In addition, due to the bad range, the car is about 20% too expensive.
You nailed it.
See your point there.. However the consumption on the MY24 aren't as bad. At least compared to previous versions
Totally agree, my new extended range is far from the advertised range, hope the reviews weren’t so misleading. Last Volvo I buy.
@@antoniogoncalves4878How are the reviews misleading?
Been driving MY24 rwd since november. 4000 km. 19.4 avg. I love the car.
No news about a more efficient power train to match the Polestar 2?
More efficient? Has the same powertrain as the Polestar 2 already.

When can you order EC40 and EX40 in Norway?
Was supposed to be this week. Been to busy to check in, but heard rumors about a little delay. But maybe next week 🤔
Isnt the 2025 C40 actually EC40 😊
Yeah, wasn't sure if I should write it in the caption or not 😂

You can definitely drive further than 100km? Check my winter range test with my XC40 Twin. Came oudh further 👍
NOTHING NEW!
volvo stopped in time.
I just did order ec40 black edition twin 🫡
