The good news for this car if you don't like one-pedal drive is that regenerative braking works regardless of the mode. Using the regular brake pedal works the same, and will blend in the friction brakes when extra stopping power is needed.

THIS. People really need to realize that Tesla is the only manufacturer whose cars will not use regen with the brake pedal. Everyone else will use regen to when you use the brake pedal and then blend in friction brakes if you need more power when you max out regen. Also the coasting effect of not having regen on the accelerator pedal makes driving smoother and potentially even more efficient.

@@adamcarlson4922 Exactly. I cringe when I hear reviewers praising the Tesla's brake pedal feel compared to others, but it's really not a just comparison. I chose this car over the Model 3 as I like one-pedal drive and my wife doesn't. This way we can both drive the way we like. The Tesla doesn't offer that choice at all.

The chasis was built for different drive trains in mind hence they could use the same body for fwd/awd in ev, hybrid, gas. This is also likely an attempt to save money.
The tunnel does add rigidity to the over all chassis.

I'm one of those crazy outliers apparently. Loved the car when I test-drove it, but didn't find the seats comfortable. Everyone's body ergonomics are different I guess, but that really surprised me, as everyone seems to universally love Volvo seats.

I love the seats in the Volvo but I agree definitely not my favourite seats in terms of comfort. But I agree ergonomics are different for everyone

We used to have the gas version of this car and we really liked it. The only thing we didn't like was the lack of power, and the electric version fixes all of it. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Ya the electric version is crazy fast. Feels small but sporty! What are you driving now?

Great review! The one thing I will differ on is the screen. @ Volvo if you see this please DO NOT change that screen on the xc40. I hate the tablet look in newer models. I chose the xc40 for this reason.

Thanks Jacob! It doesn't need to be horizontal. I'm fine with vertical just a bigger screen would be nice and less piano black around it.

I have my xc40 for about 2 weeks and there's something I can't figure out. With apple carplay i would get calendar entries as suggested destnations in the maps app. I've been trying to get a similar flow with google calendar and maps in Android automotive but it just doesn't seem possible. Anyone experience with this?

11:45 You should step back after kicking underneath the car for the trunk to open. It's not that finicky. 😂

I find the trick is to kick, back to front (not sweeping your foot), just under the first "V" in the Volvo emblem. Or, for a method that will work 100% of the time, just simply forget your keys are in your pocket when installing or removing a hitch-mounted bike rack. You are guaranteed to trigger it, especially when you don't mean to 😅
