As someone who started off playing street fighter and many Capcom fighters throughout my life. I have to say, Tekken is shining brighter than anything else right now and I never thought I would be saying this. One of my favorite fighting games had been Capcom vs SNK 2 and I think now it is Tekken 7.
Tekken to me is actually harder than usual fighting games, making it more competitive plus each character has its own playstyle, timing, and combos. Totally love this game
Its fun playing and learning Tekken with others, but when the best of Tekken go toe to toe and you got Tasty Steve commentating, that is where Tekken thrives and makes watching the game hype as hell.
We Indians Literally Grow Up With Tekken 3.Its Little Bit In Our Modern Culture Even Now Mostly Every Millinial And GenZ Nows Whats Tekken Is Even If They Haven't Played It. We Got Small Shops Having Arcade Machine With Tekken In It Only In Most Areas Of Almost Every City

And The Time I Used To Play It We Dont Even Know About Professional Matches Hell We Dont Even Have Internet As Cheap As Now So Everyone Can Have It. Learning A Move Was Probably How We Play It Cause Shops Wont Let Us See Move Lists And 10 Move Combos Is What We Called Combos. Man I remember playing Tekken since I was a child from the arcade machines to Tekken 3's beat em up side game... its heart warming to see it have the recognition it always deserved thanks theScore you guys are great
As someone who got into Virtua Fighter during its peak, I'd be interested to see exactly when (and why) tekken overtook that series. VF is now dead and Tekken is stronger than ever. VF had some very cool mechanics and a lot of depth, but I suspect what it lacked was a sense of flashiness and style. One game featured a generic Chinese guy, and the other had Bruce Lee punching the opponent in the nutsack.
Virtua Fighter is a much more complex game with deeper fighting mechanics, all characters are viable, but Tekken went for the normies and won in that department.
@@minxy6121 He's really not wrong though. Tekken has a lot of depth, but it's also very accessible. You can understand Tekken to a reasonable level and start pulling off combos and utilizing proper movement and spacing to a basic degree within a day or two of playing. Virtua Fighter is absolutely nothing like that at all. The game is like running straight in to a brick wall in comparison when you start.
Virtua Fighter was still more widespread than Tekken in the arcades in the late 90s and early 2000s, but Tekken 3 on PS1 was the king on home consoles and the subsequent games built on that.
This was such a great video. Tekken has so many great stories and moments it's truly amazing. I remember I went to ceo and thought I would do better in sfv rather then tekken and this was my first time competing at the time. And so I played and I ended up rekked in sfv and won a few in my pool for tekken it was amazing so I spent the rest of the days learning and playing tekken hard it was amazing and that live finals was perfect. I still have videos of it all it was amazing :)
Outside of being the most hype FG (IMO), it also helps that their main commentators are also incredibly hype. Aris, Markman, Rip, Steve, Spag, etc. It's just a blast listening to their commentary.
TBH Tekken has always been a popular game. Its rise in competitive FGC popularity is really complication and a mix of things. I think a lot of the player base wasnt aware of the scene compared to the capcom games or less willing to go out and compete in the game. Tekken 7 is a great game and people enjoy it a enough to go out and compete, Also international travel and world tour has helped it grow as well which was less common back in the early 2000. SFV's rocky launch and the disaster launch of MvCI also likely helped a lot too. Im a SF player who started with Tekken (Tekken 5 and DR being the ones I enjoyed the most) so its cool to see it grow even though I dont play Tekken 7 myself often.
The people that disliked this were probably crying from how good this video actually is and mistook the dislike for the like button cos of the tears in their eyes ❤️

@lolumad If what he said is true, we might not have to wait long to find out.
@lolumad Our Countries Shares Lots Of Common Things We Are The Same People With Mostly Same Things Just Divided By Borders That Includes Bangladesh Too.
And I Never Said We Have Pro Players I Just Said We Have Grown Up With Tekken And Lots Of People Are Aware It.
Most People Played Tekken For Fun After School Including Me And Arcade Mashine Were Not Mostly Gaming Shops They Was Just Normal Shops With Tekken Arcade Machine Cause Kids Love It.
(Tho There Maybe Pro Too That I Am Not Aware Of Cause We Are After All So Many Have Played It Some Nut Ones Could Have Loved It To Have Gone To The Next Level.)
@@theindianneek7225 India has a lot of people. If Tekken is popular, there's bound to be some people who are good enough to fight the best the world has to offer.
The history of takken is so amazing and awesome video man :]
I love this tekken content, the reason i started playing was from watching jdcr play. On the first year of release he was a god it was amazing , he sweeped as hard as knee and arslan id love to see you guys do a piece on him. love this stuff.
Outstanding mini-documentary, very well done.
On a personal note I've been a fan since Tekken 1 in arcade & PS1 & have played all (casually) iterations with the exception of Tekken Tag 1.
For me it has been & always will be the best fighting game. 😎👍
Qudans’ story is beautiful. Man tears when he was talking about his dad.

"Firmly grasp it in your hand."
@@franciscor390 "Normies" lol ok
Ps1 install base, different controls
@@minxy6121 He's really not wrong though. Tekken has a lot of depth, but it's also very accessible. You can understand Tekken to a reasonable level and start pulling off combos and utilizing proper movement and spacing to a basic degree within a day or two of playing. Virtua Fighter is absolutely nothing like that at all. The game is like running straight in to a brick wall in comparison when you start.
Virtua Fighter was still more widespread than Tekken in the arcades in the late 90s and early 2000s, but Tekken 3 on PS1 was the king on home consoles and the subsequent games built on that.
every time you guys upload a Tekken vid, i get reminded of how much i love this game
tekken > any other fighting game
Ah yes, Tekken the only game that makes you question your entire existence after fighting an old geezer with a mouth for his stomach...
I disagree, but i understand your opinion
I dont have a favorite, but i realy like KoF and Smash Bros
@@kaiquesantos4999 love kof...tekken is better though
@@kaiquesantos4999 KoF looks awesome. I stopped playing when Fatal Fury was still relevant. Before kof lore.
The quality of the videos theScore esports puts out never ceases to amaze me, y'all deserve the million subs and more. Keep up the great work.
This channel really did introduce me to Tekken ,you need more subs man!
I literally just watched Lil Majin EVO run, and then this popped up
Man, fighting game competitions are the best ever out of all video game competitions.
The Mixed Plate Frequency facts 👊
The people that disliked this were probably crying from how good this video actually is and mistook the dislike for the like button cos of the tears in their eyes ❤️
Yep.
I started following this channel for Tekken Esports
YESSSSSS TEKKEN!! Perfect video to watch while I eat!!
What did you eat?
Richard Heath I ate some Chinese
There will never be a better character selection screen than Tekken 7 I’m sorry.
It’s god tier
Love the shade being thrown at GranBlue Fantasy. XD
And the best casters. Not even professional sports or game shows have as good hosts, they make the game even better to watch for beginners or experts
Damned ninjas cutting onions while I was watching Qudan holding the trophy.
With the background he has, the sight of Qdans lifting his Evo trophy bring tears to my eyes
Just 5 more hours til the finals start hella hyped
but you said that 4 hours ago :) thanks
I am sold. For years i was playing only Tekken 6 and TTT2, this sudden emerging hype for Tekken 7 urges me to play the game. What a time to be a fan
I’m SO HAPPY for this franchise!!! I’ve been down since I was 4yrs old playing Tekken 3 everyday before kindergarten lmao FORREAL!!!

theScore esports, you are killing it. Amazing content, non stop.
In the wise words of Steve himself, "If you arent playing Tekken right now, what are you doing?".
Steve Fox....first game was Tekken 4....
@@tmcttf8087 That one went over my head.
I was quoting what Tasty Steve said.
@@KindredDoomBot I know. And I'm simply stating that Steve first appeared in Tekken 4.

Came back to watch this after the TWT finals was over
However, please theScore esports, do a video on Knee
Even if he didn't win the championship, still do a video
Brilliant video
Played Tekken 3 to death and only now just jumped back in with Tekken 7. Used to play loads of friendly tournaments with friends in T4 and 5.
It's like putting on an old and comfortable pair of shoes. Missed it.
this is like a mini smash documentary, but tekken. can you guys do a 3 hour tekken special?
i'd watch the hell out of that, yo.
*PLEASE.*

Man this gets me hype to boot up tekken 7 on my pc right now. One of my fondest memories is in a small town arcade. Almost 20 years ago, there was a Tekken tag cabinet and I loved playing it when I went to the mall. I was having a blast with Yoshimitsu and Roger when some middle or high schooler came over and asked to play.... he proceeded to body me, poor 7 year old, and called over his friends and I just went back to Star Wars arcade..... lol
Truthfully, I just like playing Gigas in a suit.
A man of class I see
gIGAS is so undermined shame
Since 1998 my friend introduce me to this game tekken i was blowned away by tekken tag 1 the stories of mishimas are out of nowhere and the moves is so amazing and then tekken 7 im still playing my goodness its already 21 years
