    Finally! Someone in the tarot community on TH-cam dared to express their opinion saying: Not every deck has to have diversity. Thank you!

      Hi, no in my opinion not at all! Btw the beloved RWS that almost all use has zero diversity so 🤷‍♀️

      I agree, I think is a creator's choice. Then people can choose what is best for them to use. TDM is not diverse either.

      Well ... quite a few decks thrive on removing diversity.
      Some powerful examples:
      The mesquite tarot removes both the concept of sex/gender and the concept of skin colour/"race" by reducing them to kind of an artistic variation of bodies.
      The Spacious Tarot removes human figures altogether witn the intention of the reader/querent putting themselves into the scene.
      The Animal Woman Tarot centers the body and soul of it's creator and by doing so serves as an interface, identification figure and role model for the users/querents.
      The Divine Masculine Tarot ... just depicts the variety of (cis, trans, inter) male bodies. Probably no women included.
      Dust II Onyx is black people only ...
      To me: A deck doesn't need to be diverse. Newer decks just should be aware of the kind of diversity they promote. Just going with cis white heteronormativity might harm what the deck's trying to do - as might an "diversity for diversity's sake" approach. The route taken ... affects which audience can relate to the cards ...
      (The RWS ... is a concept deck to me. It's uses heavily idealised figures and goes with a play theme - all cards depict stage scenes. It includes the occult lore of the Golden Dawn and had been created in colonial England. It has it's merits. It's just not a deck I'm eager to work with.)

      Exactly, diversity is a form of division.

    Wow, this was a great video! I have heard about the healing power of story but I didnt know how story heals and you nailed it! Tarot/story provides us with a way to change the meaning of our wounds. I believe Hillman said soul is "meaning making" and this connects so well with healing. Thank you Natalia.❤😊

    A few months ago I found out at the age of 56 that the man i thought was my biological father wasn’t , and I was in fact fifty percent a completely different ethnicity then I always thought I was, and it’s brought up all my childhood trauma I went through with parents who told me all the time I wasn’t wanted, and it was my fault they had to marry. There marriage was violent and as a child I heard and witnessed beatings. And now I don’t even feel I know who I am any more. I’m still searching for a deck that helps so watching to get some ideas

    Thanks for this. I'd love to see how you use the deck when you do the work with yourself. Decks I liked that challlenge me but don't overwhelm me are Sibyls Oraculum, Radiant Wilds Tarot, Tarot of the Divine, A Yogic Path and Unusual Animal Messages.

      Oh I also want to mention my favorite deck for working through trauma around being a child of parental issues and divorce…the Playful Heart Tarot. Every time I use it, I get into the mindset of my inner child very quickly. It’s sweet and brings a lot of joy, but doesn’t mock how I’m feeling.

    Some oracle decks by Gabriel Sanchez - all in french - were created for healing trauma. I own "The oracle of Ishtar" and will buy Le souffle des Amazones. It really helps me ground when my trauma shows up.

    This is a bit outside of the ones people listed below, but The Serpent Ikons by Helena Van El, has helped me process a bad breakup, my marriage ending and cope with my CPSTD. The book and deck are a combination of philosophical commentary and a magical grimoire, plus an oracle deck that can be used like a major's only tarot deck. I like journaling on the descriptions/commentary of the cards, while incorporating the listed rituals that accompany each card.

    Omg the deck choices in these video are 🤌🏽👌🏽 so diverse and beautiful. Some I haven’t heard of. Off to Amazon I go 😅😂🤣 but I thought I’d also add that I don’t understand the hate in the tarot community with the Muse Tarot (and to an extent the MoonChild Tarot and others that are within the same artistic realm), the artwork is beyond gorgeous - so what if they have haute couture fashionable models on them. In my opinion it was these decks that paved the way to the popularity of the modern wave of digital collaged decks. This is a big reason why I avoid some tarot community groups, it can get too tribal for my liking.

    • @tarotshrink
      @tarotshrink  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tarotshrink Remember the days of fashion magazines, mtv, vh1, I would say it was about the late 1990s into the early 2000s? That style is very reminiscent of those times, very nostalgic 😂😂😂 I mean I totally get when a deck doesn’t speak to someone, but I think sometimes people go too far.

  • @debbiekofoed7554
    @debbiekofoed7554 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Natalia I couldn’t agree with you more when it comes to decks like the Ceccoli tarot! Coming from a DV background if I was presented with a deck that showed physical violence towards women resistance would pop up immediately I wouldn’t even want to look at it so it wouldn’t be helpful at all quite the opposite in fact..I actually don’t recommend doing the work on your own when the trauma is extreme the best thing I ever done was therapy from there I’ve been able to see from a detached place my trauma behaviour and not get caught up in it the last thing I would have needed would have been images that put me back in that space…thanks for the recommendations another great video ❤

    • @tarotshrink
      @tarotshrink  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for additional feedback and I agree that the severe trauma is left to professionals. Sadly therapy is also a luxury this days so I totally get why ppl do DIY. The least I can do is throw a warning.
