Tarot, a way to evoke synchronicity. Exactly.

      oh yes, controlled synchronicity

As a non-Jungian, non-Freudian, psychotherapist, this is one of the best interviews I’ve ever seen on therapy. You both bring your honest experiences to the table in a beautiful way. Thank You.

Fascinating interview! We enjoyed the interaction between Dr. Bernie and Dr. Ken, which illuminated some welcome insights about the significance of synchronicity in our lives.

      like what did we illuminate?

@@Coinciders For me, the interview highlighted:
      - the understanding that we humans often do play a role in creating synchronicity (while not overinflating the ego's sense of control over reality)
      - two perspectives on synchronicity: as an intentional manifestation process, or as correlation without causation
      - the value of mathematical thinking (esp. the use of probability statistics) in recognizing patterns that don't 'fit' into preconceived paradigms (as someone who had only a moderate interest in math in school, this surprised me)
      - how we may unwittingly bring people into our lives who sometimes provoke intense reactions from us but also open us up to experiences we (unconsciously) wanted/needed to explore in order to rise to the next level of being (as in the young psychiatrist who wasn't comfortable with tarot cards before he met and worked with Dr. James).
      - divination, and specifically tarot, as "a way to evoke/domesticate synchronicity, which is usually roaming about in the wild" (😄lovely phrase)
      - probably the best explanation I've heard as to how tarot works and why the information it shows us can be so worthwhile, as evidenced by the understandable shock and disorientation felt by class participants who saw the same sets of tarot cards arising for them across multiple readings (an experience I'm familiar with).
      - not to mention, "Slip, slidin' away..." jogged my memory of Dana Carvey's famous SNL comedy skit. 😆
Thanks again for such a great discussion! (By the way, my father is a psychologist, and we made sure to show him this interview. The whole family enjoyed this topic.)

The web analogy shows up in an old Hindu scripture as Indra’s Net. At each intersection of the net is a jewel and each jewel reflects every other jewel. This interaction reflects the connections between the wavicles in the physical universe, but also the relationships between each spiritual being (such as yourself) and every other being.

It is my custom that when I watch videos I take recommendations from it for other videos. During such an occasion I was writing down the particulars of the video I wanted to search. Now my memory is very poor but say the person in the video is Harry. Now I do mull over the name in order to help me recall it. Now just as I wrote down the name Harry a guy a couple of away simultaneously said "her phone was on voice so I called Harry".

  • @AhmedKhan-w1l7o
    @AhmedKhan-w1l7o ปีที่แล้ว +1

My TV and my cell would be on together and sometimes I would use my headphones for the latter. On one such occasion I found the same phrase coming from both at the same time. Now it was one consisting of 3 or 4 words. It may have been common words such as "of course you are". I am 74 and I paid it no mind. Now people have told me on occasion that I would live long because they just spoke about me when I appeared. Now if such an event happens a couple of times then it amounts to a lot and it amounts to a significance. Ahmed Khan 🇿🇦

Dean Radin has done statistical meta-analysis of all available ESP research. It shows that most people get better than random results on such tests with the odds against this happening by coincidence over a billion to one. He has written several books about his research: So math can have a role in proving the numinous!

My report, as you asked, on synchronicity: On May 4, my boyfriend of 2-1/2 years walked out the door to drive home to another state (he visits every couple of months but calls 3-4 times a week). He's 73 and his driving has deteriorated. His diet is very unhealthy but he's stubborn. I was concerned that he make it home safely. Close to 3 weeks went by with no word from him. He doesn't have a computer nor a smart phone. He uses a flip phone. I call and he never answers. I leave voicemail messages and he calls back later. So I left several messages on voicemail and by text. I told him how worried I was. I told him I had a heartache from his noncommunication. He cannot reply via text. I became VERY worried. I used a pendulum and asked if he had left his body. I couldn't believe that he would not call me back since he says he loves me. The pendulum said Yes! I was in a heartache and beside myself. I didn't know how to find out. I checked police reports for accidents on the roads to no avail. Then I took the introductory, free start to Ken James' new course on Jungian tarot. I drew the first card the next morning from my Rider deck. I got Eight of Cups!! It was so very synchronous! I was sure this man had ghosted me (walked away), as I have a pattern of being ghosted by 95% of men I've dated. It's so painful when they do that! (for the evening 3 cards, I got: 1) 7 of cups. 2) The Tower reversed. 3) Judgment. I was unable to decipher much from these as I'm fairly new to Tarot.) The next day, I got the Queen of Wands in the morning. This actually restored me to my usual happy state of mind. I'm so used to doing life alone these days. I'm 71. The third morning, I got Nine of Pentacles. Oh, and each time I draw cards from the deck, I ask the Heavenly Host to help me draw cards that will teach me about myself and/or life. This is key! Again, 9 of Pentacles made me very happy. Then lo and behold, on the 4th morning, I again drew the same 9 of Pentacles! This all, to me, seems VERY synchronous! Thank you both for this enlightening video! I neglected to mention that my guy finally called yesterday. He has been very sick with a flu and chest congestion--he says it's not Covid. So yes, things are looking up, I suppose.

very insightful session on synchronicity and tarot cards, just curious how did Dr. Kenneth James, Ph.D. learn to read tarot cards?

Hello and thank you for your question. I learned basic principles of divination from my Scottish aunt, who read tea leaves but not cards. I don’t know when I was drawn to the cards, but eventually, I studied with a teacher at a place in Chicago called The Astrologer’s Medium. This was all long before I entered Jungian analysis. Still, my studies of Jung enhanced my understanding of the cards and deepened my appreciation of the psychological value of divination and synchronicity.

Jung was definitely a step beyond dour, grumpy Freud. But I have issues with Jung’s rambling writing style and how some of his speculative hypotheses have put psychology in a brain lock. The evidence of archetypes and collective unconscious is better explained by the idea that we are immortal beings who have played similar roles (father, mother, child, etc.) over and over, almost forever. Well, since there have been meat bodies. Use of Dianetics can confirm this subjectively. The drug-free, wide-awake out-of-body experience verifies that we are spiritual beings not limited by physical laws. I have had many psychic, spiritual and mystical experiences and I’m just an apprentice on my spiritual journey. So, good on you, but you have just scratched the surface. Your video is probably a good first step for many people.

    • @Coinciders

I love introductory courses because they give us the broad range of the subject. Archetypes--I am getting used to them as Archie Types, to make lighter of them. I prefer these days to think of them as a special kind of repeated pattern that can often evolve. So the mother of the 1930s is evolving as the mother of now.
