In one of the most inspirational segments we've ever shot, The Total Package Lex Luger describes dealing with the mental toll of his devastating spinal injury that left him nearly paralyzed from the neck down. Boy do we have a lot in common! I was a bodybuilder, power lifter, and a FireFighter/Medic. One day I came down with an Auto Immune Disease that eventually paralyzed me from the neck down, it was called CIDP. I was treated with Prednisone at high doses and IVIG and eventually Chemotherapy . Nothing worked so I was wheelchair bound for 4 years and my family fed and cared for me because I couldn’t do anything. While fighting that, I came down with leukemia AML. I had to be treated for a year and 3 months of chemotherapy again. Then I had to get a Bone Marrow transplant and still recovering from that today! I’m alive and walking because the Lord Jesus Christ took care of me! If you don’t believe in the Lord, I am living proof that he Lives!

Wow ! Holy Molly !! I am so glad he is alive and well. So true he is not what he was but mentally he is even better now 👍🙏🏻 Sadly I do understand Lex’s pain and suffering!!! Very hard mentally then it is physically…
I have first hand experience myself just like Luger, only he has been suffering longer than me and he mostly lives in a wheelchair.
Very happy for him that he found peace ☮️ now. Hopefully one day he will get back some more of what he lost. A very humble, nice gentleman he is still. Yes I can relate very well.
Past 5 years I was the victim of 4 car accidents that were my fault !!
I too went from 265 down to 135lbs today ! Yes I know how it is to have to learn how to walk again, dress, shower, move around in a wheelchair,
a walker, a cane or stay put in bed 😞
Been out of work like Lex for over a year now. Lost so much memory of my past 1-5 years of my sad life now.

I can relate..I'm in and out of the gym since my accident 5 years ago and the things I did there was like drinking water now it's like drinking cement so I had to decide whether or not just to give up or be creative so just like you lex..we don't quit!..not in our blood..God bless you brother.

I'm fighting negative emotions and needed a kick in the butt and hearing you has just helped me to stop feeling sorry for my stupid ass self and make the most of this day. This man is amazing. From his football days to being the first guy to body slam the huge Yokozuna to losing his mobility. The pastor of my church is going thru the exact same type of illness Lex Luger is. How you keep an upbeat attitude and keep moving forward is beyond me. I guess until someone is experiencing what they are going thru it themselves they’ll never understand. Also Lex I’m so happy to hear you’re a Christian now. Welcome to the family of God brother. I was a big lex fan growing up. His testimony as a fellow Christian is truly inspiring and I have a whole new level of respect for him. God continue to bless him. Still the total package!

The biggest transformation I've seen in a wrestler is Lex Luger, and I'm not talking about a physical transformation. I'm talking about an inner transformation. He went from a egotistical, self absorbed guy to a humble and happy friendly guy. I was a big fan of Lex Luger as a kid, but I'm an even bigger fan of who Lex Luger is today. I'm so glad to see the person he's become. I hope I get to meet him some day. I got to meet Sting and now I'd love to meet my other favorite wrestler Luger.
He was paralyzed from the neck down. Just because he fell asleep on a plane and his head and neck were turned the wrong way. And cut off the blood supply to his neck. And pinched a nerve in his neck. And was paralyzed from it. Man ! That was such a bad thing. Poor guy.

I once met Lex in Orlando's airport while waiting in this long ass line to board. Seeing how there was enough time, i went to him and asked for his autograph. He tells me he doesn't have the time, has a plane to catch. Guess when you're a dick to your fans Karma has a funny way of getting you back.

Lex has been through a hell of alot of up and downs throughout his career starting back with the miss Elizabeth incident and hes real inspiration with his testimony now not with his physical muscles but with his spiritual muscles no matter how bad it gets you never give up.

Not a lot of guys walking around in their late 50’s and up that looked like Alex or were as big . Puts a lot of stress on you to maintain it and as we get older the body can’t take it .
You can really feel the sincerity from Lex and the support that both guys are giving him. As incredible and awesome as Lex was physically, his character is even more awesome today. And that's saying a lot!

I love that some of these wrestlers from before are still encourage each other nowadays. It's great to hear. And man, I remember seeing Lex in his wrestling days and just going "Jeez, he looks like a Greek God!". Great to hear he's doing so well and also want to say that 63 IS NOT OLD to any of the youth out there.

Amazing interview and perspective on life from Lex
Spinal problems have been an issue in the Pfohl family. Some of our cousins (including myself, in Wrestling) have become temporarily injured at times like the back and spinal cord. But it's good you lift and exercise that keeps the bones strong.

I met Lex about 10 years ago at Chic fila in atlanta. He was able to walk with a cane and drive his chrysler 300. After i talked to him in the restaurant i went to my car. It started to ran when i got to my car and I saw Lex getting ready to walk to his car, i got my umbrella and ran to walk him to his car under my umbrella so he wouldn’t get wet. He was very appreciative but i was the one who felt honored.
Loved him in the 80s and still do, such an awesome guy! He understands you dont have to look a certain way to live or exist.
Followed you since your debut in Florida God Bless you I appreciate your honesty and keep spreading his word God is good everyday 🙏

Being in a wheelchair isn’t dead it’s just different. Been in one for 5 years, without God it would be impossible. Great video, I expected to be disappointed after being around many in a chair, thank you for the great lift in spirt. I have seen suicide and much sadness from others, for me it’s just been another turn in life. I have many blessings that I could spends days listing, even my chair in many ways, God bless. It’s a humbling experience for sure but something I needed, Gods gift to me.
Just wanted to add after doing a little research, I was born 5/18/58, less than a moth apart. My life never crossed yours until now, but you definitely have had a interesting life, glad you choose to keep it that way. God will guide you forward, sometimes I forget that, thanks for the reminder.

His higher power like a addict recovering from addiction he is recovering from being almost super human to mortal I went from 198 for my size was big to having muscle disease and loosing 30 pounds down to nothing but my higher power was my niece n loved ones started training again told my mom can't get worst wrong blood cancer the muscle I gained back gone again met a someone who made me want to beat anything her n her kiddos made me train and my new muscle doc my cancer doc said he had no idea how I was doing still don't I am so bad I should be bed ridden but I am not not the 198 I was but 165 and climbing and I will get bigger stringer for them have a higher power that works for you can be anything that makes you want to live keep it up.

I patterned some of my own facial expressions from those of Lex Luger. I would watch his pre match monologues and pick out some of the coolest. I also ripped off Clint Eastwood looks.
I'm not the only one hiding behind custom crafted masks.
