I'm 37 years old now with young kids myself. Although I stopped watching wrestling well over 2 decades ago, Lex Luger was one of my all time favorites in the early 90s. A hero then, and a hero today. Straight shooter for sure!

Me too, 36 now and was obsessed with wrestling around 22yr ago. Lex Luger was kind of anti-hero back then who came bust into the ring with a baseball bat lol. But that looks nothing like this humble nice guy. He seems to have lost all his muscles too. I remember he said he's lucky or even surprised to be alive still after all the use. I remember the incident too where miss Elizabeth who was in WCW too sometime passed away with him due to drugs use. Not necessarily his fault tho.

I applaud Lex Luger for being open and admitting his steroid use, which is very rare among wrestlers to admit using steroids despite how common it was back in the 1980’s and 1990’s. I have a lot of respect for him after seeing his interviews, he’s got nothing to hide.

@@MichaelSmith-te3nv It was VERY common. Why be so hateful? It’s a fact that steroids dominate(ed)sports, MMA, boxing, professional wrestling, and even Hollywood. That man was so ripped when I was 14 years old. He looks like a sick old man now and I’m only 41. It’s surreal and heartbreaking to see one of my wrestling heroes literally dwindle to a small, frail man. Lex is blessed to have his life still though…so many amazing talent has been tragically lost to steroid and drug abuse. Thank God it’s actually being tested for and taken seriously now. I

@Man E Mr. J I'm not arguing his wrestling abilities or mic work. I agree they weren't anything special. I only had an issue with you saying he wasn't ever a top tier guy. Also you don't necessarily need to have the 3 things you mentioned to get over. Look at Goldberg. Goldberg was the most over thing in WCW and he couldn't talk or wrestle. Sting was red hot in 97(probably the hottest he has ever been in his career) from mostly spending his time in the rafters and not talking or wrestling for a whole year. Both Goldberg and Sting were more over than Ric Flair had ever been in WCW. Another category which I think your forgetting is a signature move which is really what got Luger over in 97. The torture rack was one of the most over moves in WCW. Luger torture racking everyone in 97 is what propelled him to top tier status for a little while. So yes Luger lacked in ring ability and mic skills but he made up for what he lacked in his look and signature move.

At 45 years old I feel so old when I see Lex Luger and other famous wrestlers from my childhood are old men who don't look anything like they used to. Lex Luger is just probably the most noticeable because he was built like a comic book hero in the '80s and '90s when I was watching him and now he looks so weak and feeble. Ric Flair was my all-time favorite from the early '80s until the late 90s with the Attitude Era when Stone Cold became my favorite, but I hate to see Ric Flair in his condition looking like somebody's great great granddaddy. I guess they are lucky to have lived so long though because so many people don't. I look at them and it makes me think I'm 45 years old and I will be looking like that in 20 years. It's a shame that we have to get old.

I met LEX LUTER, when he was an American wrestling star, he was a good citizen, super strong, extremely muscular, a living force of nature, he took more than two hundred kilos in weight training exercises, and he was extremely agile, he was a WARRIOR of modern times, a VIKING of the modern era, I was sorry that hollywood did not hire him to make action films, he made an excellent actor in action films and fights, he could be an excellent CONAN the Barbarian, or a Viking warrior in movies, he had a lot of professional pressure on him, and ended up consuming drugs and sank but GOD almighty, once again helped him to overcome this difficult phase. ,.,.,

Did Luger just not get tested or was the fact he was signed as a bodybuilder initially instead of a wrestler get him out of it?
