    Timing Chain replacement.
On This one the Customer was the one saying he just wanted the timing chain replaced cause he new and another mechanic told him. and it was all about the price. [He was an employee of a friend of mine asking for a favor.]
This did not fix his issue engine light continued to come back on after driving the car for a while. He then blamed us , We rechecked our job was correct. yep all good.
Told him to replace the VVT Valves he did not want to, so he took it, and went to another workshop who rang me and we both agreed . But customer did not believe us. anyway i don't know what happened after that.
    The Chains needed replacing anyway.

Hi Phil after seeing this Clip all I want to do is get my daughters 2005 VZ SV6 down to you pronto...I have had such a run around on this timing chain issue ending in they are not designed to be changed - you seem to be right on the wagon ..It was my old company car fully Optioned Leather Sunroof etc..daughter has had for 5 years & loves it - but the chain is starting to get noisy on startup...I will call tomorrow --D

That and run them hard to circulate oil.If run normal, timing crains don't get enough oil hence heat hence stretch.i also recommend oil flush. But end of the day interval service.

Good video mate, I'm looking at purchasing a 06 VZ Calais with 135Ks on the clock. The guy said it has a full service history and listed that the timing chains had been replaced along with a trans flush plus full synthetic oil swaps. Is there any other major underlying problems with the alloytec that can be costly or should I look at a VY with the trust ecotec instead?

I just got the car,the engine/car is very clean, all parts look great for its age,,it's a vz v6 Commodore, 05,212kls,
Just seemed to be gutless at first,
I changed the oil,oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, cleaned mass air intake sencer, coils seem fines,
It has improved it but it's still not a 100% I feel lol,I had the older vy for years and that seems faster, but yet I'm told the vz Alloytec is 20% faster engine lol,,
Not a great idle on it either but it's not so bad,,
Either pvc or fuel injectors I guess lol, sorry for long texts

I just brought a vz 2006 Holden commodore.
I wasn’t aware that these cars need chain replacements.
    It’s done over 195000 km.
I don’t know if it has ever been replaced.
How much does it cost to get this done at normal price and at how many km do the chains start wearing out and need to be replaced please?

@@ESISTTIGER wow that suxs because we get a 5.3/ 6.0 with harness and computer for $800 bucks in a running truck. A lot motors we can hear run before we pull it out. A swap will run with all parts is around is $1800. Now don't get me wrong I am in the south of usa and labor rates here are 95 bucks an hour. so labor time on the chains are 4 to 5 hours plus parts. Is what 800 to 1200 dollars is what we charge here in the usa plus auto shop make money on the parts to. How do I know this I work as a head mechanic at the same job for 30 years before retiring. A LS swap now a days on 10 year car is cheaper than fixing a mod 4 cam v6 motor.

    • @ESISTTIGER
      @ESISTTIGER 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@acemay3 it cause every electronic in the vehicle is security protected and when you change one thing you have too change all because the security code gets thrown on the electrics and also the electrics in them is specific too the engine a loom in a V6 is not compatible with anything but that V6 sadly but Holden did it too prevent people from stealing the electronics of the car and it carried over too the export models (Pontiac G8, Chevrolet lumina) and I also makes modding the electrics harder too.
