    My dad was never affectionate and never ever said "I love you." In fact, on his deathbed, I told him "I love you, Dad." He could only say, "I know that."😢

    The only time I remember my mother say "I love you" was when she said "I love you but I don't like you" and that's just the tip of the iceberg

      I always hated that. I love you but I don't like you? Bitch, stop the cap. You have to like someone first before you love them. You can have like without Love, but you can't have love without like.

    Story 3.
    Nah, your friends are dumb.
    My rule of thumb is if your willing to get drunk and risk your life then you do you.
    I'm not going to risk my life because you lack self preservation.

    Story #3 - OP did a great job.
    If you're not comfortable with a situation, get out of it. People need to have a little situational awareness.
    I say this as a man who has made the same mistake the bride and her friends were making, and down-playing danger. I'm a big guy, so I don't worry about my safety in that sense. Any "Bad Guys" out there are going to leave me alone. They obviously have no sexual interest in me, if they wanted to rob me, there are many easier targets. Those people are more scared of me than I am of them, lol. Not to claim I'm some sort of bad-ass, I'm not, I haven't earned that title, lol. I don't need to be because nobody would ever test that theory anyway.
    But the same isn't true for a lot of people, and women especially. I had to learn how to think in those terms, which takes deliberate, conscious effort on my part. If a girl says "Hey, I'm on my way home, gonna grab some take-out, what do you want?" In my mind, the options are limitless, whatever is on the way between where she is and home. I have to remember the Chinese place is in a really bad neighborhood, and the Greek restaurant requires street parking around the corner from the main road, so those are bad options for her. If it were me, I wouldn't think twice about either of them. It wouldn't even cross my mind.
    It's not always easy to understand other people's anxiety over a situation, even if there is a rational reason for it. I can logically connect the dots on this, but the dots don't connect themselves, lol. It's something of which I've needed to force myself to become more aware. It takes effort and forethought, and the ability to at least attempt to empathize with circumstances beyond my own personal experience. And I don't always get it right, I just try and make an effort.
    So from where I stand, I think it's really cool that OP is comfortable voicing those concerns instead of just going along with something that makes her uncomfortable. I'm sure her boyfriend is relieved that she is able to do that and take action instead of just going along with everyone else. It took considerably more courage for her to look her friends in the eye and tell them "No" than it would have to blindly follow them. against her better judgement. I think OP's friends could learn a lot from her example.

    The dad in the first story is so gull of shit. "You are loved" is so fucking generic it sounds like it came from a youtuber apology. If you wanted your kids to know their mother loved them, say "I'll always love you, and your mom will too." Dad is just playcating OP because OP confronted him.

    • @lindah3803
      @lindah3803 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Dad was representing OP's Mom and himself by saying that. OP's Dad raised him from a baby. By saying I'll always love you and so will your Mom, just continuously shoves the missing Mom in OP's face. OP's got a really good Dad. I personally don't agree with OP telling his Dad to just say " I love you." Dad's way was very special. It was specifically for OP and his older brother.

      @@lindah3803 but then why not say “we love you?” It honestly could be subconsciously taken as saying “someone loves you…. Just not me tbh” but with the other child he is just like “I love you.” It’s just a little infuriating because it’s not what he did with his other child. I can understand why op feels a bit slighted, and not really that loved. I think it’s good that he’s telling his father that he no longer needs to speak for his mother, and to just tell him “I love you” instead.

      @lindah3803 so I'm assuming him being a great loving father was all non existent because he didn't say I love you it sounds spoiled all these kids out here wanting love and he's complaining about the way he's loved

      @@tsunadejr Saying "We love you." Would bring on the same problems. The kids would want to know who is "we". Yes, Mom is back in the picture. How long was she gone. Dad did his best to raise the kids by himself. He told his kids that he loves them and that their Mom loves them. There are very few men who would do that. He deserves respect for that.
