  • How can red light help your eyes? I m often asked if red light is harmful to eyes. There is a lot of data on the benefits of red light used in ophthalmology. In fact it is approved in some countries for helping people see better and even macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and dry eye. Today I go through some of the data and how I use my cosmetic LED mask and eye protection. this should get everyone up to date about the concepts. LED aesthetic masks are not meant to treat medical conditions and should not be used in such a manner.

    I've only just tried using my Red/Infrared belt (660nm/880nm, 50mw/cm2 at 0 inch) around my scalp and face (for the past year I've only used it on my back and knee). On the website I saw no warnings for eye hazard, so I assumed it should be safe for small exposure to the eye. I did a short stint with the belt loosely arced around my face (with eyes closed) before bed and the next day I noticed a dramatic improvement in visual contrast of my vision, everything I read seemed sharper and more vivid. Then last night I wrapped the belt around my scalp and chin, only exposing my closed eyes indirectly. Something remarkable is happening, I see wild fractal patterns and feel warm waves of vitalizing sensations. Today my vision seems even better. I'm going to investigate this further.

    What an info packed video and such a relief to hear! I have a red light panel that came with the eye covering you see people using when they’re in a tanning bed, except it is made of metal. I always am nervous about getting any light in my eyes from the panel, eyesight being my favorite sense.…now I won’t worry. ❤

    Oh, finally a video that goes actually deeper into health and not just superficial looks ( sign of a spiritually impoverished society). I suspect this is something the ancient yogis knew long long time ago: the practice of sun gazing ( gazing directly into the sun when is rising or setting) to improve eyesight probably harnesses those same red light wavelengths 😍
    I now suspect that exposing our naked body may do just the same for the skin 😍
    FYI I used to get styes frequently as a kid and my Dr prescribed b-complex. It was helping 😊

      @@mkryuEyes closed he said. I have meibomian gland dysfunction as well as chalazia formation from subsequent poison ivy exposure under my lid. It is literally the worst thing that has ever happened to me. I notice the red light gives me relief, it’s been extremely effective in reducing the inflammation and secretion of meibom. It’s good to know this is safe for the eyes. Also flax, fish and borage oil help my eyes with inflammation and dryness.

    • @mkryu
      @mkryu 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Melanie-nk2ij having MGD sucks big time! A couple years ago I had to have 2 chalazia surgically removed from my under eyes. Last year I underwent lower lid surgery to correct ectropion (drooping lower lid). I just went and got my 7th IPL treatment last week and my eyes finally feel some relief and the puffiness has gone down significantly. I have another IPL scheduled in 6 months. I really am considering getting this LED mask, mainly for my skin but if it helps my blepharitis, then it’s a bonus.

    What about LED machine treatments as part of beautician facials? I had one 2 months ago, woke with conjunctivitis in one eye the next day and my eye is still slowly recovering. I often can’t read a book at night (as I do every evening) without covering my now sensitive and inflamed eye. I went to my optometrist who sees no obvious difference and prescribed eye drops for dry eyes. I went back to the clinic who basically said what you’ve said here and that perhaps the treatment brought out something that was ‘dormant’, yet the aching red and inflamed eye continues (albeit lessening). Any thoughts?

I use the compresses two or three times daily for 15 minutes to an hour until the stye/chalazion is gone. Usually they resolve within 2-3 days. I wonder if red light therapy would stop the styes/chalazions from returning, but am not sure of which type of device you would suggest. I do use red light therapy for collagen rebuilding. .

      depends on the reason...tinnitus can be multireaaon problem... if its due to LOCAL circulation fluctuation or lowered circulation or inflammation with nerve compression, I would say yes, it may be very helpful. why not try? issue is ability of NIR to penetrate tissue is limited

      @rnkim2564 ..thank you. I have been to an audiologist but he did not give me any information about the cause in my case. It is constant, high pitched and getting worse as I age. I can ignore it most of the time. I suppose I could purchase a small hand held red light therapy device and point it into my ear canals, I suppose it couldn't hurt and it certainly would be a miracle if it helped!

    Of concern is the Near Infra Red light in the mask- not the red light. NIR light damages the eyes in a variety of ways. Dr. Rajani: if we should want protection beyond the provided eye inserts, what do you suggest we use that both will block NIR and also allow the benefit you designed to treat the under eye area? Goggles on Amazon do not work with your mask. Thanks.
