How is it running ad I am concerned about the new injectors with smaller ports getting clogged due to a dirty old fuel system. I'm really curious and bet simply cleaning or tossing in OEM single port would still make a noticeable dufferents vs the crudy 20 year old injectors.
well i just installed a simple one hole injector and it is doing the same thing your 4 hole injector is doing . the reason your injector is making the car run better is simply because it is new . i stuck with the one hole injector because that is what was originally used on my vehicle and my advice is to stick with the type injector and number of holes your vehicle was designed for .
I port matched my intake manifold with a Felcro gasket and installed a set of 4 hole injectors and experienced excellent throttle response and increased power.
Ive seen a video of dyno results going from stock injectors, to 4 hole, to 12 hole on the jeep 4.0, The 4 hole gave the biggest overall hp improvement, the 12 hole gave just a little less hp compared to the 4 hole, however the 12 hole added more torque than the 4 hole. With that being said, the stock injectors had atleast 150k on them (i forget the mileage, it was a jeep XJ), after the 1st dyno w/ stock injectors, he swapped in the 4 hole and did another dyno run, then swapped in the 12 hole and did the dyno run. The ECU and adaptive memory did not have any time to learn the optimal characteristics on how to go about controlling the new injectors. With my experience, the 4.0 needs to do a few complete drive cycles to get the overall best mpg and performance. When I first installed my 4 hole injectors roughly 8 or 9 years ago, first test run i noticed a smoother idle, much quicker pedal response, and quicker pickup off the line, however just about the same fuel mileage (leaning in the direction of a tad more fuel being used per tank, but not much). After a month of having them in, i checked again, and thats when i seen the big increase per tank. I forget the exact numbers as this was almost 10 years ago, however i know i get a minimum 400 miles per tank at a 50/50 split of city and highway/backroad driving. When i did the tests, it was mainly highway and backroad driving to work and back ever day, somewhere around 45miles/45minutes 1 way with less than 10min city driving. 2003 4.0 WJ, K&N FIPK, Bored Throttle Body, 4 Hole Injectors, Doug Throley Headers, Hi Flow Down Pipe w/ Pre-Cats, 2.5" Exhaust, FlowMaster 70, 3" IRO Lift, Stillen Brake Pads w/Drilled Rotors, Superchips Tuner, 32" DuraTrac's, 3.73 Vari-Lok Axles, NV242HD Selec-Trac Transfer Case. Just curious on where you purchased the 4 hole Injectors. Looking for an honest, reputable place that can sell me good quality Injectors & not China knock offs for my 93 Jeep GC Laredo I6 4.0. Thx so much.
I swapped my injectors to 4 hole ones from a Dodge Neon. My smoother startup is likely because the 4 hole injectors were clean. The one hole injectors spray into the back of the valve so when the engine heats up, the nebulization should be fine even though it's one stream. Cold starts may be better off with the 4 holes. The flow volume of the 4 hole injectors were close enough to the stock ones such that the ecu can trim to what it needs. My 2000 XJ 4.0L with the A4 transmission gets 22mpg on the highway if I go 65mph. It's stock build with 130k miles.
I ran the 4 hole on my 99 XJ Cherokee and there was a very noticeable power gain at low and mid range power. MPG seems to be the same. I do have a header on my 4.0L which benefits as well.
I went with 4 hole injectors on my V8 ZJ. I saw about a half mpg improvement and smoother idle. I really think the mileage boost was more from "new" injectors compare to the original one's with 247k miles on them. I would still recommend the upgrade as if I'm going to replace an item I would rather take the opportunity to do an upgrade.
Went from stock 1 hole to 12. Startups are way quicker and instant. Idle and general acceleration is much smoother with maybe a mile per gallon increase.
What about if I weld up the one big hole and after drill out 4 tiny holes.. would that work assuming the injector doesn’t melt from the quick intense heat
Did you select a fuel rate equivalent to the one hole? I just put in 4 hole injectors. They are rated a bit more flow at a bit less pressure. It runs fine, but hard starting sometimes. Thanks for the vid.

Not the belt, just a tensioner pulley. Always turn key to on position and give it 2-3seconds to pressurize your rail. It will start faster evertime. Also, when replacing injectors, pull fuel pump fuse and start and let run until it dies. Shouldn't be much fuel left in rail after that! Don't pull injector fuses! Lol

The problem with aluminum rails they oxide. If you use a fine wire bottle brush. Chuck it up in a very slow drill motor and buff out the injector holes in the fuel rail. A little spit on the o-ring and they slide in with ease.

I know I'm returning to an old video, but I replaced my 94 yj with 4holes, but now it will crank with no start up. Right after I replaced them it would fire up, after turning it off and leaving it, it won't now. Any ideas?
Been contemplating this upgrade. Sounds like we're going to the same school, Dale. My only question/concern is - wouldn't these smaller holes clog up sooner with varnish build-up than the single-hole injectors? Or does that really matter, in the long run?
Injectors usually clog up with debris that gets past the fuel filter, there is also varnish build up. I added an extra inline fuel filter to my Jeep along with the PIA ONE in the tank. I would say NO ( JUST MY OPINION ) that the 4 or 12 hole injectors will not clog up because of the smaller holes. Almost all the ones I've cleaned was either crap in the screen filter inside the injector or the Pintle is not working, dead injector. I also run cleaner in my fuel tank & buy the best gas I can. I have to run 89 Octane in my 97 4.0 ZJ or it has bad performance & terrible fuel mileage. Any higher Octane gas & I see NO DIFFERENCE ? I'll probably switch to the 12 hole injectors ?
You are not going to see a significant increase in gas mileage. The engine will idle and run smoother. New injectors are a great idea anyways if they are the originals. Keep in mind that the only filter in line on most models is on the intake inside the tank. If you question your fuel at all an inline filter is probably a great idea especially going to a smaller hole on the injectors. My 99 XJ with Pacesetter header & 2.5" exhaust (no crush point behind the manifold) and 4 hole Mustang injectors now pulls strong from 60 to 90mph and easily spins the tires (255/55/18) from a start.
Hello, I made the 4 holes injector upgrade and the performance change its awesome, is there anything more that can be done to improve the ride performance or engine performance?, what you think about the throttle body spacer?
Careful with ebay and Amazon new injectors they could be cheap knock offs that actually sometimes make your engine run worst i know from experience. I ended up buying my reman ones from rock auto. I ordered them for a 2001 volvo c70 2.4l turbocharger. They fit the jeep 4.0 and they are ev1 connectors with 4 holes and same flow rating as oem ones.
Ummmmm Dale.... I believe you were supposed to remove the lil white plastic rings that were on the outlet 4 hole side...I'm pretty sure they are just there to hold the o-rings in place during shipping... I'm actually doing mine tomorrow with those same type. I tried to do mine a few weeks ago, had it all the new ones in the rail and went to insert them onto the ports...and they didn't fit. Turned out they sent me the wrong part number. I had to reinstall my old ones, after cleaning them up a bit... They resent me the same as you now, the right part number now. I've already removed my white rings. Just used a pair of needle nose pliers to pop them off... I'll update ya about the removal of those white plastic rings... Please, please, please check for leaks around the mating surface between the injector and the head... I'd really hate for all your work to go up in flames my friend...
Huh... mine didn't come with a cover over the injector nozzles, just that nylon plastic ring that looks like it's holding the o-ring in place for shipping. The old injectors don't have anything between the o-ring and the o-ring seat in the intake manifold. I guess if it's not leaking...then it's not leaking...but are those nylon rings going to stand up to the heat?!?! I was supposed to do mine yesterday, but good ol' home ownership tasks got in the way....had to prioritize... Just did mine this morning. Had them done in about 40 mins... Easy peasy..... Purrs like a kitten.... Installed without the rings, I kept the rings though just in case...
@@Flyby-1000 I just got some 4 hole injectors as well and I now wonder if, like you, if the plastic ring that seems like it's holding the oring on needs to come off 😬

Ive had the 12 hole in my wj for 2 years. My fuel mileage went from 12.5mpg to 16mpg , but that could have just been just replacing dirty, worn out injectors. I do feel that it starts better and idles smoother.

Great fuel injection swap out but why didn't you show the fuel injectors after you started it up they could be leaking? Also you should have shown the inside of the fuel rail there could be a lot of corrosion and rust in there that might need to be cleaned.

Been contemplating this upgrade. Sounds like we're going to the same school, Dale. My only question/concern is - wouldn't these smaller holes clog up sooner with varnish build-up than the single-hole injectors? Or does that really matter, in the long run?
I haven't heard of that being an issue, but I'll keep you posted

Waste of time and money.
Cool video bro 👏👏👏👏👏💯😎
How did these injectors end up doing? Im skeptical about ordering due to the mixed reviews.
I haven't had any issues with them. Seem to work fine
@@JeepSolid thank you for the response.
@@JeepSolid Did you see the 20% mpg improvement?
@@JeepSolid Did you see an MPG improvement?
Mine clogged after a week but my rail was a bit dirty lol second time may last longer lol
Have you done a updated video yet??????
Did this 4 months ago and the jeep does start quicker and runs smoother but did not see mpg gains , also noticed top speed increase (98 tj sport )
Wow! Awesome. Gotta test run mine some more
You are not going to see a significant increase in gas mileage.
Where is best to place for the filter to avoid pressure issues
Hello, I made the 4 holes injector upgrade and the performance change its awesome, is there anything more that can be done to improve the ride performance or engine performance?, what you think about the throttle body spacer?
Get rid of your cat
Careful with ebay and Amazon new injectors they could be cheap knock offs that actually sometimes make your engine run worst i know from experience. I ended up buying my reman ones from rock auto. I ordered them for a 2001 volvo c70 2.4l turbocharger. They fit the jeep 4.0 and they are ev1 connectors with 4 holes and same flow rating as oem ones.
Do you have a link to these? What did they cost you? How are they working?
Did you ever have problems with these? Did your fuel economy improve?
Six Jeep injectors $60. Six Cummins 6.7 injectors $2200. Out looking for a jeep!
I forgot to add new shoes and spring kits in the rear and wheel cyl
Hard to imagine the 6 cylinder gets better fuel mileage than the 4 cylinder. 13 mpg with my 2.5. it's like having an 8 cylinder gas hog.
So did it increase you MPG by 20%? Did you check?
That did not work for my jeep 2001 had to put back the olds ones it was berning gas like hell and dont now y
They came with plastic covers over them that I removed.
Huh... mine didn't come with a cover over the injector nozzles, just that nylon plastic ring that looks like it's holding the o-ring in place for shipping.
@@Flyby-1000 I just got some 4 hole injectors as well and I now wonder if, like you, if the plastic ring that seems like it's holding the oring on needs to come off 😬
Always lube before inserting in tight place, don't want to tear an "O" ring😉
I just put 12 hole injectors in my WJ I can’t tell the difference from the 4 hole injectors
NO KIDDING ? I was going to put 12 hole ones in my 97 ZJ 4.0. Maybe I'll do some more research. THANKS., TREVOR. OH, What engine do you have in your WJ ?.
I have a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 supercharged.keep up the good work.
I'm curious to see if I see and fuel mileage change..
Ive had the 12 hole in my wj for 2 years. My fuel mileage went from 12.5mpg to 16mpg , but that could have just been just replacing dirty, worn out injectors. I do feel that it starts better and idles smoother.
OUCH, How's the fuel mileage ? I hear it drops it pretty bad ?
Hi, Dale! So the question everybody seem so curious to get answered - did it help improve your MPG?
Runs great, but haven't run multiple tanks through yet. Its currently in the shop with a leaf spring off
I upgraded to 4 hole on my f150 and check engine light won’t turn off
well, it is a ford
Dirk Hodge have you ever seen a f-150 with 400.000 miles? yeah I didn’t think so.
@@ironman3743 I have a 1986 Ford E-150 van that has over 400,000 miles
@@coler154 yeah great cars but people don’t appreciate em!!
Better I don't know most time injectors removed are used maybe dirty " restricted" new is definitely better though my 2 cents
Help please, I'm a military vet and looking for a reputable place online that sells quality, non China knock offs, dynamically tested (besides matched based on peak flow alone) 4 hole Injectors for my 93 Jeep GC Laredo I6 4.0. It would be so appreciated if anyone could help me in this manner. Thx all.
Atomized!
It's amazing! Ha
Great fuel injection swap out but why didn't you show the fuel injectors after you started it up they could be leaking? Also you should have shown the inside of the fuel rail there could be a lot of corrosion and rust in there that might need to be cleaned.
Someday I will see if this most improves gas mileage. I don't have a Dyno.
Yeah. Super curious if it helps!
Taz

So SAD :( Going to be selling soon...
JeepSolid well I can’t say I’m thrilled but nonetheless, still love the channel!
Update? I hear Amazon injectors are crap
👍🇺🇸
Most of your single hole injectors actually spray a cone shaped pattern…
single hole injectors are better because they are much bigger holes than the very small 4 hole holes which can easily clog in a short time because they are so tiny .
Dyno or bust. Won't make a difference.
Its not for power, its for better atomization therefore better idle and smoother acceleration.
Did it improve the fuel economy?
