This episode made me think about tissue boxes. Some people will have boxes that they'll place their tissue boxes in so that it will match their bathroom theme. A few ideas: A monster's mouth with jagged teeth dispensing the tissue. A mini graveyard where it looks like the tissues are in an open grave. A white box absolutely covered in bones which would look like a pile of bones. A box of any design but with a hand or skeleton hand creeping out. A coffin, though this would require extending the box in shape past a normal box and make the project slightly more complicated. An eerie cave covered in stickers that look like entrances and exits to the cave, possibly with little bats on wires. Edit: Grammar Edit 2: I think this could be a really creative project with all sorts of possibilities.
Love it - You should create a true "Medicine Cabinet" that looks like a vintage apothecary stand or something a witch would have in her lair...just a thought!
I love how you show the entire process, because this is just how it is, a series of fails and solutions, seeing what works for you, and what doesn't, changing stuff as you go. It's what makes it equal parts frustrating and satisfying to do stuff yourself, and in the end you'll love it more for having struggled a bit.
That frame shop you suggested helped me finish so many projects including one that has sat unfinished since last year! I've had such a time finding reasonably priced, ornate frames. My vintage suitcase hair implement organizer can finally be completed! Yay Thank you!
I love how both mirrors ended up looking! Even though the medicine cabinet didn’t work out you could totally make a gothic bathroom tray for your toiletries! Or be a cheap ass like me and get one of those surprisingly elegant silver trays from Dollar Tree
Love Orville's supervision of these projects. Without his Mastery of all Things, your efforts would be lackluster at best. Really, Mr. D should have his own show!
I do like the mirrors in all white, but for some reason the one on the white door got lost, so it was a good call to paint ot black.... My bathroom is white, gray, black and chrome I like this idea
I was trapped in the whole "Paint it Black!" debacle with Orville the whole time, LOL. Except I saw that last one coming. (The white frame on the white door just wasn't great, the frame kept vanishing into the door. Painting it black was a good call.)
I've been procrastinating on finishing a coffee table I've been working on because I'm afraid of messing it up. I gotta get over that and move on with it..
Question: Why not use crown molding like what they have available to cut down to size at Home Depot? That way you can have it cut to the size and angles you need, paint it, and glue it to the front without adding too much weight. I'm having to redo my bathroom after getting the vanity replaced and that stuff is actually pretty light. Things like this: www.homedepot.com/p/Woodgrain-Millwork-WM-366-11-16-in-x-2-1-4-in-x-84-in-Primed-Finger-Jointed-Casing-Molding-Door-Pack-10001390/202086608
TH-cam kicked out this video as a recommendation, my guess is because I've been watching a fair bit of Abney Park and Ask a Mortician. I'm so glad it did! The passion, creativity, practicality and technical skill you bring to these videos are delightful to watch. I'm a multimedia and found object artist and there is something to inspire in every video. Thanks Voltaire!
Perfect timing! Thank you for doing so much trial-and-error to make this work. I just moved into a new home where the previous owner replaced their beautiful medicine cabinet with a cheaper one (that didn’t even fit properly into the wall!). I swapped it out and had been brainstorming what to do with the old cabinet. I shall make a mirror for the gothic vanity I’ve always wanted! This video has really helped me save time not having to figure out the tedious stuff. Can’t wait to start measuring.
I make my own frames out of cardboard and paper mache. Sometimes I make the ornate flourishes out of air-dry clay, pc clay or epoxy . There are lots of moulds available online for next to nothing. Not only is it super inexpensive, easy and aesthetically pleasing when finished but it's only very very lightweight.
I think you could get around the cheap medicine cabinet by making somewhat of the same thing out of wood. Just a simple box frame with two pieces of wood on the inside to make shelves and anchoring it to the wall. It might work since it’ll be stronger than thin plastic. But I love the white mirror, the subtle accents are right up my dark alley
Another idea to file away for future inspiration. I already made a bone towel rail after a previous video, ok so it’s a 1/12th scale miniature for a doll house but even miniatures deserve a gothic home.
I'd LIKE to turn my bathroom very momento-mori esque with light, muted colors so it's not just so heavy with black and dark colors. I think these frames are a great idea! Now I just need to find a good shower curtain...
Stylish, simple and elegant 😍🦇 love the outcome and especially loving the predictable comedy in each episode 🖤🖤 I love that quote about mistakes and learning at the end of the video, I find it motivational and inspiring 😱🦇😍🖤
Yay! A bathroom episode! Finally! And upcoming kitchen decor? Double yay!💗 Maybe you can decorate a medicine cabinet with the plastic bones so it doesn't weigh so much?
Thank you! I spent most of the evening watching past videos, learning amazing things, bird protection laws, monster theme restaurant where abouts and how to clean bones! Even Halloween shopping, I'm decorating and hoping the show will go on. Damn 2020, dumpster fire of a year. 🎃
As an art school drop out I know all about failed projects. I live in a hundred year old house with my hubby. I found a really nice black lacquered mirror at an antique store it couldn't have cost more then $20. I know Ikea had one similar but it was plastic and cost the same. It's on my bedroom wall.
I dub thee Goth King! I recently started watching your videos, and it's so good to know not only you can do music, but this! You're so creative and I love your work! 🖤
Whew! I thought you were going to leave me thirsty there for a minute! Nice episode. I have a mirror and a frame that need some spooking up, and this gives me ideas.
I’m not really into homemaking myself, but I tune into Voltaire’s videos every now and again. How popular is he among the groups of people who regularly watch this type of content?
Beautiful job, they came out perfect. Find an old wooden medicine cabinet. They are sturdier and have more character plus they usually have the nice old mirrors in them. 🖤👍
Hey right on time making up my day before therapy yeay! and after so long im excited for some fun, but watch yourself or you might fall into the mirror realm.
Both look great! But you could have bought moulding or trim from the hardware store and made your own frame for the cabinets. It would probably been lighter.
I assume you already have an idea (and probably have it finished) but I think a medicine cabinet with a window rather than a mirror done up in an "alchemical" style could be an interesting feature. Though, if you're storing standard medicine bottles in it, might not be so great...still, concept to explore
When I heard the ,,Masquerade" playing in the background , I realized this video really is serious. Question though , I'll finish 1st year of highschool on 29th of May , and I wanted to learn to play some songs. I saw the ,,Ex Lover's Lover" , and I'll be sure to learn the rhythm for that song , as I already know the chords , it will just be to learn the strumming. I'm wondering if you'll be doing more of those videos , because you've got some really great songs , like previously mentioned ,,Masquerade" , ,,The Night'' , ,,Pirate's Bay" and so on , and yet you hide the secrets behind those songs. I don't want to sound like an asshole , but I just want to learn to play those songs , and I don't even need to bet , because there are a lot of people that want the same thing as me , of which I can bet a few are toxic or just horrible people.
"Mistakes are not the enemy, they're how we grow and how we learn to be better at the things we love doing" - I'm hanging that on my wall.
I need this cross stitched now in black and silver !
Voltaire saying "paint it white" was the biggest plot twist in all of history
Hahaha I know right
I’m far too early but my goth king has summoned us we must watch
Goth Bob Ross!
I say this as someone who knew Bob.
This brought me such joy.
This episode made me think about tissue boxes. Some people will have boxes that they'll place their tissue boxes in so that it will match their bathroom theme.

Those are some really good ideas !
Love these ideas

If you stand in a dark room, look in a mirror, and say 'Paint it black' three times, Voltaire will appear and compliment your decor.
Hahaha this is great!!!

Orville has a bone dry sense of humour.
Can't believe I saw Voltaire at a private concert when I was in middle school and now he's teaching me how to spruce up my home. Life is wild.
Caring so much about such common and simple things like medicine cabinets or towel racks gives Voltaire some Big Goth Dad Energy and I'm living for it
Yes!! I love the white gothic mirrors! My gothic heart loves black, but it starts to make a little depressed with all black so this is so perfect!!
Love Orville's supervision of these projects. Without his Mastery of all Things, your efforts would be lackluster at best. Really, Mr. D should have his own show!
I'm vegan, and I do appreciate your thought to do that option, however I do like to use natural bones as long as they're found, not hunted. ❤️
I do like the mirrors in all white, but for some reason the one on the white door got lost, so it was a good call to paint ot black.... My bathroom is white, gray, black and chrome I like this idea
@ morrigan Laveau I have wondered if Voltaire knows that krylon also makes I spray paint in a course and in a fine texture that is to simulate Stone
I was trapped in the whole "Paint it Black!" debacle with Orville the whole time, LOL. Except I saw that last one coming. (The white frame on the white door just wasn't great, the frame kept vanishing into the door. Painting it black was a good call.)
Loving the contrast of the black bone mirror on against the white door. 🖤
I've been procrastinating on finishing a coffee table I've been working on because I'm afraid of messing it up. I gotta get over that and move on with it..
Yes girl! Then post a link to pictures in here so we can see. That's so exciting!
Finally a bathroom episode! Lovely!
Voltaire, you are the Gothic father we don't deserve. Thanks for the tips! I can't wait to start working to make my home Gothic.
It's always a good idea to take inventory of your bones.
Wasn't expecting my gothic entertainment to have the most positive message I've heard in awhile. Thank you for being you 💖
Time to make a creepy shelf to make up for the lost cabinet portion! Necessity is the mother of creepy invention!

And if possible, reinforce the hinge with some piano hinge, small but strong.

I love that at the first you look just like eddy musican but you are just a normal person who loves bats.
You'll be happy to hear I came up with a substitute for heavy frames--lace!
I want this man to do a challenge for college students have a awesome goth room on a budget
As Orville would say, "He needs both those mirrors self appreciate himself and make sure he paints his hair a proper black" :P
Phylosophy AND homemade tutorials? Hell yeah!
Not only do I enjoy the DIY project, but I am also very glad about the lesson on mistakes at the end. Thank you for another great video, good Sir.
You have such a kind energy here. Like Goth Bob Ross. Goth Ross... okay I have a cosplay idea now and I'm blaming you.
A coffin medicine cabinet would be cool.

That white frame mirror is absolutely gorgeous! Makes me think I'll have to keep the walls white in any future apartments.
If I’m honest Voltaire is one of the best musicians ever, in my opinion the best but hey that’s my opinion
I can’t wait for Voltaire to turn his toilet into a Gothic Throne
Another idea to file away for future inspiration. I already made a bone towel rail after a previous video, ok so it’s a 1/12th scale miniature for a doll house but even miniatures deserve a gothic home.
I LOVE how you decorate, Aurelio!
Lair of Voltaire - come for the spooky decor, stay for the heartwarming loveliness
I used to watch you perform at Dragoncon...and found your youtube today... its so gothic wholesome, its wonderful!! its a pleasure to watch :)
I strongly suggest taking a lid or a canvas board and making a custom painting for the medicine cabinet
7:09 That piece of bone on the top left looks so happy...
Oh that perfect fit was so satisfying
I think the mirrors would look wonderfully macabre with some DIY antiquing. There are some great tips for it on pinterest.
Congratulations on season 5!!! I love these!!!!!
I 🖤 this idea!
I'd LIKE to turn my bathroom very momento-mori esque with light, muted colors so it's not just so heavy with black and dark colors. I think these frames are a great idea! Now I just need to find a good shower curtain...
You rock!
Stylish, simple and elegant 😍🦇 love the outcome and especially loving the predictable comedy in each episode 🖤🖤
I love that quote about mistakes and learning at the end of the video, I find it motivational and inspiring 😱🦇😍🖤
I did the bone framing for my signed set list I got from your shows🖤
Yay! A bathroom episode!
Finally! And upcoming kitchen decor? Double yay!💗
Maybe you can decorate a medicine cabinet with the plastic bones so it doesn't weigh so much?
Me encantó la transformación de esos cuadros!
I love decorated mirrors!
Love you
Great idea on the mirrors!
Just found you! I'm late to the game but I love a man who can work a glue gun and sets up his design before he glues! I'm in! 💝
Welcome aboard!
Thank you! I spent most of the evening watching past videos, learning amazing things, bird protection laws, monster theme restaurant where abouts and how to clean bones! Even Halloween shopping, I'm decorating and hoping the show will go on. Damn 2020, dumpster fire of a year. 🎃

Great video nice look 👍👍👍
I was shocked when he said I painted it white, but it looks so nice :D
I dub thee Goth King! I recently started watching your videos, and it's so good to know not only you can do music, but this! You're so creative and I love your work! 🖤
Love your videos!! I enjoyed this DIY and am happy you are staying safe! Can't wait to see you at another show in Arizona once we can safely do so!
Whew! I thought you were going to leave me thirsty there for a minute! Nice episode. I have a mirror and a frame that need some spooking up, and this gives me ideas.
Thanks for the ideal I have learned a lot from you and I love your videos helps with stress
I love how creative you are
I’m not really into homemaking myself, but I tune into Voltaire’s videos every now and again. How popular is he among the groups of people who regularly watch this type of content?
Love those!!
I DO AGREE WITH THAT TOO! 🧛♀️
Love the mirrors 😘
🦇 This is terrific. I really do appreciate you doing these videos. And I'm certainly not the only one.🦇
Beautiful job, they came out perfect. Find an old wooden medicine cabinet. They are sturdier and have more character plus they usually have the nice old mirrors in them. 🖤👍
Are we not going to talk about how he said "human" and not "animal bones" at 7:56 lmao 🖤
The results are really cool
Aurelio , such a sweet makeover I wonder if I could do something similar to my skinny door mirror.
I'd opt for shelves with a gothic-style trim. Oh shoot! I'm giving away my idea.
Brilliant ideas!
A small antique apothecary cabinet might work as a medicine cabinet for you.
Wonderful designs and video!!!
Hey right on time making up my day before therapy yeay! and after so long im excited for some fun, but watch yourself or you might fall into the mirror realm.
Beautiful look, really
Both turned out gorgeous, now I want a bone mirror.
Great! Love your style! And you are so right, my dear: Failiure is hidden treasure. Love your attitude, have the same...
Yayyy!! I live for these videos ❤️
My gothic grandpa teaching me how to make my home beautiful and cozy. Haha.
Slow down! I'm a dad, not a grandpa!!! Damn whippersnappers!!!! Lol
@@TheLairofVoltaire Lmao!! Sorry, goth fatherrrrrr. Pfft hahah!
He is very good DIY
I like the bats and the mirror
Both look great! But you could have bought moulding or trim from the hardware store and made your own frame for the cabinets. It would probably been lighter.
Awesome episode
Lovely mirrors, and I hope everything works out with a new medicine cabinet. I’m sure you’ll think of something! ;)
If you would like to make a frame for any size buy crown molding from lowes or home depot and you can cut the trim to size
Nice job on the DIY
I assume you already have an idea (and probably have it finished) but I think a medicine cabinet with a window rather than a mirror done up in an "alchemical" style could be an interesting feature. Though, if you're storing standard medicine bottles in it, might not be so great...still, concept to explore
That's a good way to store your bones
Ooh what about something like balsa wood for the medicine cabinet frame? It's lightweight and should take to paint easily.
When I heard the ,,Masquerade" playing in the background , I realized this video really is serious.

Those are lovely! What will you do about the lack of medicine cabinet?
