  • Being a crochet business owner is NOT something I EVER thought I would be doing at this time in my life, but there’s nothing I’d rather spend my time doing.
    And this week I’m going to take you along and show you what it’s like running my own crochet business. This might be interesting to you if you already have your own handmade business, you want to start your own crochet business, or if you’re just nosy like me and like to take a peek into others lives just to see what it’s like.

    Hi Elise. First let me say, I've seen some chewed up fingers, so I can't understand why anyone would say anything derogatory about your hands. Your hands are just fine the way they are, but you should absolutely pamper yourself. Second, thank you so much for explaining why content creators have their picture with their mouths hanging open. It drives me crazy, I think it's goofy looking ( among other not flattering words) and not just on you but other lovely ladies like yourself also. I had no idea TH-cam wanted it done that way! I do enjoy these types of videos, I learn a lot from you.

    • @EliseRoseCrochet
      @EliseRoseCrochet  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I should clarify, it's not that TH-cam wants us to do it that way. It's that people will click on thumbnails that have expressive faces, the crazier the better. For many years I made thumbnails the way I thought looked nice and my channel did ok, once I started making the expressive face thumbnails my channel started growing like crazy! ❤️❤️❤️

      Drives me crazy, too. Unattractive, and juvenile.

      Woah…”among other unflattering words?”, not everything are we going to like or agree with. Good to take what you can from everything and leave what you don’t want behind. Just seems like a not very nice thing to say.

    • @kellycarter2497
      @kellycarter2497 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've never said unflattering things to any content creator. My mother told me if I had nothing nice to say, to say nothing at all. My point was, I was glad that Elise explained the reasoning behind the expressions on the thumb nails. I would never say anything ugly to anyone, in person or online. I think Elise is a beautiful lady, I didn't realize different expressions got more clicks than others.

    I temember those days! I am a nurse and worked at a residential school for the Deaf for 30 years. Hands were very important. In hospital nursing (10 years before that) I never thought about self-care especially for my hands. They took s lot of abuse every day and manicures didn't last long! Sign language gives you a different perspective on your hands! Now that i've retired - and more or less adjusted to not having 24- hour call, no kids at home, and less laundry, house chores and less demands on my time, i wonder how i did it. It took a while to realize i didn't have to keep up the pace but i think i've got it now and i love it. I wouldn't trade those days for anything but it's nice not to have a schedule - except for grandkid duty once in a while and in the summer. You are awesome and the job you do is incredible. As long as you still enjoy it, go for it. Don't let others change your fun! ❤❤🤟🙏

I really don't understand why anyone would make a negative comment about your hands. That's crazy to me. Hi Elise
    Thank you for sharing your behind the scenes 💗 it is very insightful to know all that goes on…I’ll keep chewing on the idea of creating a channel as I have a lot going on behind the scenes and I’m not sure I’ll have the time to dedicate right now. But I appreciate all that you do and the food for thought.
    I absolutely love Pickle and Olive as they remind me of my two girls as they hated and loved each other at the same time, sadly I lost my grey calico as she was run over back In March this year 😢
    I love that you take time to pamper yourself and I loved the colour you chose. It’s always nice to take time for yourself especially in the crazy world we live in.
    I’ve never really noticed the funny faces on the thumbnails I think for me to be clicking on a channel to watch it’s what the person or channel is going to show or teach me…but that’s just me! Aside from the channels that are an automatic click like yours 🥰
    I can’t wait to see your new Amigurumi toy and congratulations to you being showcased in a magazine, that is absolutely awesome and deserved!
    And I’m happy for you that you can take the time to interact/respond with your followers as you are definitely one of a kind.

    Im a bit late to this video, but Elise I wanted to say that there's absolutely nothing wrong with your hands, they're very beautiful! I'm currently at the point when I decided not to go to university, but become a full time crocheter, and yt crochet content creator (I'm also nearing the end of designing my first amigurumi pattern!) but I'm extremely self-consious about my hands too. I've had dyshidrotic eczema on my hand for two years now, and it now has permanent scarring here or there, especially just above my "nail-bed". Its not like VERY bad, but if i were to make close up crochet video tutorials, it would definitely be visible. I paused the video just to say that I think it’s really sad that someone said something negative about your hands. That is so harsh and insensitive so say… To everyone: If someone tells you that you are no good or ugly in any way: don’t listen and don’t believe them. They are actually telling you something about them. Not about you.
    Thank you for your nice and positive video’s!

    Hi Elise,
    I'm a lifelong nail biter so, I've seen and had issues with my hands for years. Your hands are always very nice in my opinion.
    Lol! Now I know why you always have thumbnails that are full of energy. My grandpa used to always ask me if I was catching flies. Which was his way of letting me know my mouth was "hanging open." I had the habit of letting my mouth "hang open" when I was concentrating on either drawing, homework or crochet. Now I have a tendency to clench my mouth shut or kinda grind my teeth (which I think is way worse than hanging open). But, I always hear him in my head when I see thumbnails with someone with their mouth open. Lol!
    Anyways, I always enjoy your videos and I learn a lot too. I really need to check out some of your crochet or knitting tutorials sometime.
    I love your blog page too. Some day, when I've got some money to spend, I'm going to pick up the cotton bunnies patterns collection, like you suggested. They're just too adorable not to try.
    I've got quite an Amazon wish list growing too.
    Now, I'm going to say catch you in the next video before I chew up too much more of your busy day 😊.
    🤟💜✌️🧶

    That was super interesting. I do think that most creative businesses involve more business than creative. Which is why when people say “Why don’t you sell your art?” I just say “Great idea!” And don’t bother to explain to them that it’s not just you sitting around creating. It’s sales, and packing and shipping, and SEO, and marketing, and so much more that you barely have time or energy to create

    I have looked and cannot find a resource that tells which knitting needles you use for MJTR and little Cotton Rabbits. I have Lykke but when you get down to 2.5 mm they are going to break. I must say that is the one problem I’ve had with that pattern. 3.0 mm needles almost impossible to find. The yarn stores inevitably hand me US3 which is 3.25 ugh. If you are ever back in the Asheville area you MUST go to Friends and Fiber Works. Sitting in the middle of a pasture sits a devine yarn shop. Love it.
