Etsy has never worked for me. I have things out there all handmade. Nothing's ever sold. No traffic. Nothing. I make my money at craft fairs, word of mouth and my FB page. I do pay my bills. Sometimes it is a struggle. Thank you for sharing. Take care
Etsy used to be great, I used to have a shop there myself, I joined just a couple years after they started, but once it got publicly listed then sold, it just tanked. A _ton_ of fees, often hidden, really high fees, if you don't do free shipping, you aren't promoted, a lot of what they do actively punishes small crafters, and the sight has been flooded with cheap, poorly made, mass produced, Chinese made knock-offs that are marketed as hand made and use stolen photos from real crafters. I shut my shop down, everyone I know who had a shop there has shut down, and all the shops I used to follow there have shut down.
This is also where social media can really help. Instagram is great. But it takes being active on it. Ask for followers on all your socials. Then interact with others on there. as you interact many will naturally follow you. Organic growth takes interaction.
Yes, surely does. I also saw that you didn't care for the regular posting continuously on social, which I understand. I think it can help in the beginning so people find you. Once you have a following like you do now, you can post when it feels good. Love the ideas! @@EliseRoseCrochet
Just beginning my crochet business journey. I was born with a physical disability that prevents me from working in the traditional sense. So something I can do that requires limited mobility and can be done at home is perfect for me. I wish I had the courage to begin sooner. Thank you for your tips and positive attitude
Thanks for your Honesty in discussing selling handmade items! Especially about the income part. I’ve had some home businesses, and began to understand that I basically want my hobbies to pay for themselves, like make enough money to cover the materials cost, and some for my time.
One thing on packaging/handmade tags, etc that I discovered making my own stickers is use EVERYTHING. I had sticker paper left over after printing and cutting out stickers, and those trimmings were the perfet size to draw or stamp my logo to add to the envelope and make a plain envelope look a little bit nicer. Those trimmings otherwise would have been thrown away and been a loss, but reusing them helps you maximize profit vs expense (as well as minimizing the waste your creating generates!)
Thank you so much for this video! I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in June of 2023. I finished my last Chemo treatment in October, and my Double Mastectomy was in Nov. Now I am in the process of putting my life and my body (literally) back together after my world absolutely stopped! In the midst of all this I have been doing some research trying to determine where my Cancer came from. Sense then I have committed to learn about all the carcinogens that are in our home unbeknownst to us, ways my diet and lifestyle can support my treatments, and what I can do to generate income from a much less stressful source. My goal is to create a side hustle, crochet and sewn home goods that are as carcinogen free as possible that also support reducing waste in our world. I am willing to learn whatever I need in order to make this side hustle work. Like you, I am not willing to go into debt for this little adventure. So I am reaching out to anyone that I can in order to get advice, direction, tips, tricks, ideas, support, whatever! Prayers for you and your family!
Every country besides usa has their people do parasite cleanses every six months, because they are actually in our bodies but our govt doesn’t tell us this or want us to know. Parasites and inflammation are big cancer starters, research this! Doing a parasite cleanse can change your life. Just felt moved to tell you this n relay this information. ❤ I hope you stay cancer free!!!! 🥰
Your positivity is wonderful! And from a fellow small business owner, everything you said is spot on…a dedicated space in the house, separate banking, emails, phone, etc is important. I would even say getting business cards is essential. You have to treat it seriously if you expect others to. I formed my LLC in 2020 and it took a couple years to create the business… sweat equity for 2 years… and finally in 2023 is the first truly profit year. Patient with yourself and the process is very important. Everything you say here is wonderful!
Thank you so much for sharing! It takes a while to start seeing a profit but you have to work like there's a profit from day 1! It's hard work but so worth it in my opinion! ❤️
Elise, I have been following you for at least 2 years now and I am always inspired by your love of crochet, knitting and amigurumi; however, this video tops the list! You speak from the heart and graciously share your experiences in an effort to spare the rest of us the pain and anguish of business creation. Thank you for being a wonderful mentor and support person. And thank you for speaking honestly and openly about self doubt and the negative voice we probably all hear more than not. What a lovely gift you have offered!
I opened a successful physical therapy practice in 2011 (and I have been crocheting since Feb 2023) Your advice is so relevant for all of those creating a business! Wonderful advice!
I've never seen someone like you answering questions in such a helpful way. Thanks to you, I opened an Instagram account and I am showing off the toys I make. My priority is to show people how much fun and happiness this hobby gives me. Your advice is really useful, thank you :)
You are just the sweetest and highly motivational! Everyone has to begin somewhere, and it’s helpful that you shared just how little skills you had when it came to making videos (editing, for example) and to see how you’ve evolved through the years. I’m currently a school teacher, forced to learn a lot of new technology, and it STILL intimidates me thinking about learning different skills associated with social media! 😅
Thank you so much!!! I literally had zero skills!!! 🤣🤣🤣 And being open to learning new things is the most important quality for running a business! IMHO! ❤️
Thank you for sharing about how crocheting just finished items is not going to make a reasonable income. Soooo many people talk about their "Full time" income from crocheting, and don't mention it is not just finished products. I uploaded a video this morning talking about a very similar topic, and honestly thought I was the only one who thought this.
Thank you! I wish we could make a full time income from making handmade items but I think 99% of us will need to supplement with something else. But making a full time income from crochet is possible, you just have to think outside of the box! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for this, Elise. I'm not yet in the position to start my business, but this has me very excited for when I am. My head is buzzing with potential branding, products, revenue streams, etc. I've always been interested in design and fashion, but never had the chance to embrace it. I hope to have a business that allows me to explore all my ideas and continuously be inspired by the creators around me. This video has helped put a lot of my uncertainties to rest. I am so excited to learn and grow, and hopefully apply this knowledge in the near future. Thanks again for all that you do.
As someone who watched you blossom off of the dream blog Facebook group… you have come so far so fast. I never took the leap. I need to but I am honestly so self critical. I honest remember commenting on your initial website colors! I was introduced to amigrumi as a hobby crocheter through you! I at the time was trying to do massage and esthetics blogs. But I have since pivoted to crochet.
This is a great video! One thing you kept saying is "when I was selling finished projects" . If you're not selling finished projects, what do you do with thngs you make from your patterns and is all your profits now from your patterns sales and youtube, etc
Thank you so much for this video! I'm working on business setup and because I don't know anything about business I have done hours of research. Just when I thought I had settled on a plan, doubts started to creep in, then I felt confused and frustrated. The last couple days I've been second guessing my decisions and still had some unanswered questions, I wasn't sure would get answered as I had no idea who to ask. This video is so timely and most of all so helpful! You had answered a question I had exactly in the way I needed to hear it. This video has really encouraged and motivated me so I am now excited to keep pushing forward and start executing the plans. Thank you so much!
I crochet part time and I have a shop on Etsy . I sell physical products . Crochet world become very competitive that a lot of people sells their Amigurumi for nothing. 😢 My next goal is to try patterns . My Main issue is ..English is not my main language so I’m little bit scared 😅. But I must confront my fear .
People ask me a lot about opening an Etsy shop and stuff and I just don’t want to 😅 I just don’t want a business; maybe I’m weird lol. But I make stuff for my friends a lot, gifts etc. Also Elise; I literally only know you from TH-cam lol , and love the videos ❤
Thank you so much for a great video. I decided not to renew my business license this year because for the last 3 years I have not made a single profit. I’m just feeling defeated and overwhelmed. I feel like your video helped and will definitely be looking into the resources you shared.
Elise, you are so warm and inspirational! I certainly am not looking to start a business but always enjoy your energetic videos! Thank you for what you are doing to help others who wish to do what you are doing! You're amazing!
The question of whether you still enjoy crochet made me wish so much that I could spend more of my work time crocheting! Like you, I'm most of the time on computer. For videos I mainly only need to crochet small samples. For that reason I was excited to make a video of a cardigan, it took so much crocheting ! So I'm planning more projects that actually require crochet 😊
I love your videos. Watching you has reinvigorated my love for crochet. I started 20 years ago making baby blankets and nothing else to taking a long break with only making scarves and a couple small things in between to a few months ago trying amigurumi and now it’s my daily release. I’m married, work full time and have 2 small daughters (ages 2 and 4). I bought the TH-cam course you recommended and I keep thinking about trying it but get overwhelmed thinking about fitting it in my already crazy schedule. However with every video I see like this, I start inching closer. I’d love to quit my job and for this to be my full time thing. Thanks for being such an inspiration. ❤
You and Toni are my two fav makers to watch. A pleasure to hear your words of wisdom and see your authenticity. Thank you for brightening up my day with your videos. Crochet skills and life skills!
Thank you! This was informative and encouraging! I recently went from homeschool mom to being back in the workforce. I dream of possibilities for a crochet/knit business. I believe this crochet / knit world has so much possibility to help people with stress and anxiety and we need positive folks like you to spur us to share the joy with others!
I know exactly what stage of life you're in! It's a weird transition! And I totally agree this is a wonderful way to encourage people and bring joy to their lives! 🧶🧶🧶
You're amazing. Thanks for sharing your journey - it's so powerful when we give back to the community and help others avoid the roadblocks and struggles of just beginning a business. I hope to see you all at the Crochet Business Summit or inside the Academy!!
I love the idea about looking back on how you improved instead of looking at high business people that's how I feel some of the time. I came to this video because I almost always underpay myself with hademade finished crochet projects thanks for the advice
Oh Elise, thank you so much for this video! The timing couldn’t be more perfect. I started selling my crochet last year as was thrilled by how well it went, but I now need to start levelling up and am now doing Pam Grice’s course, designing my website etc. you have given me the hope and encouragement I need to keep going as I know I’m on the right path. Love your videos and so glad I found you last year 🎉😊x
Elise, you are so inspiring and practical, too! Right now I am happy to just earn enough money to buy more yarn, but someday I may want to expand from this, so thanks for the info.
You have had a wonderful journey with your business. I’ve enjoyed every video you’ve done ☺️. I had a toy business with my husband many years ago before the internet and it was both challenging and satisfying. I made and sold teddy bears while he made furniture. I agree that you have to make what you love ☺️❤️
THANK YOU for answering my question!! It’s been BURNING in my mind for SO LONG. Thank you! Such a terrific video - I’ll be watching this again (& again)! Thank you! Hugs (NurseLisaFromOhio) ☺️🫶🏻🧶
Catering to clients: she gave a good answer you should do, but I would offer what I call bread and butter. These are small items that you can put a low price on (under $10) that catches the eye. They need to be small and cutsey, like magnets, keychain/zipper pulls, even stickers. The b and b usually bring more into the booth, both in people and income. The reason I call them bread and butter is they usually only cover booth fees, but that means everything else sold, is profit.
Hi Elise, this was yet another fantastic video. It was so good I had to share it with my cousin. She has a music blog where she is teaching music. She and I were talking on the phone and she mentioned some people were telling her negative things and telling her to get a "real job." Your words were so encouraging to me and I hope they will be for her too. God bless you and your family and business.
People keep telling me to sell my creations and while I might eventually, right now I just want to have fun with it, you know? I just started the last week of October 2023 so I'm still a beginner! (Though I picked up the craft very easily.) This video will definitely help me when I do eventually decide to sell my stuff though!
Yes injuries... as I sit here with tears as I just tore the ligament in my right thumb on the weekend. I was just recovering from wrist surgery on that hand and now I'm messed up. Surgery again in my future. I don't know if I'll ever spin, knit and crochet again.😢
I don't even want to start a crochet business but you are so motivating that you make me want to at least think about it 😂 ❤ i follow you on Facebook too but honestly, I'm only there to keep up with family so oftentimes I'll get the notification from TH-cam long before I see it on Facebook 😊 l come here to TH-cam for almost all of my interactions with the various channels I follow. Honestly, if I ever do decide to give a crochet business a go you'd be the person I would look to for tips 😊
Hi Elise! I dont know if you can still remember me, i've written to you once before, a long time back. I'm from Singapore. Just want to say the last part of this video brought tears to my eyes, it really resonated w me, as I've always felt that im a useless mother now, not needed anymore by my grown up kids. Thank you so much for saying you'll be cheering us on, coz i can feel that coming from you and i appreciate that a lot. I've been watching your videos since you had 23k followers, you have grown so much since and you deserve it. Looking foward always to your future videos. Take care! ❤
Yes!! Thank you so much!! It really is a very difficult transition from our children being young to adulthood. I don't think it's talked about enough! I hope you'll find something that gives you that feeling of purpose again! 🫶🏻❤️🧶🪡
Thank you so much for this video. I enjoyed the positive and "matter of fact" responses to the questions, many of which I had myself! I'm disabled and neurodivergent and so I have many obstacles to achieving a clear direction with my love for crochet. I always find your videos inspiring and just a breath of fresh air amidst uncertainty and anxiety I face.
Thank you, Elise! I recently decided to start my own TH-cam crochet channel, @CrochetingWithMichelle and you have inspired me so much. I've been going back and watching your past videos on this topic, too. You're the best!
Hi Elise and right now I am working on my cottage core mosaic blanket and granny squares blanket and butterfly mosaic blanket and my somebunny and I love your channel and your videos and if you keep making videos I will keep watching them and what is your favorite crochet project to work on right now and favorite types of yarn to used when crocheting and keep up the great work on your TH-cam channel and keep up the great work on your crochet projects
Thank you so much for this video and sharing such fantastic insight into starting a business, Elise. I started a paper crafting business last autumn and I felt many of those anxious and nervous emotions, so even though I work in paper, your frank Q&A was so helpful! Your book recommendations are on my list. Thank you so very much!
Thanks for answering my question! Glad it was a helpful one as well. And thanks for making this video, so many great tips! I like the one about making what motivates you, I'm definitely one of those who only wants to make what l like, rather than trying to make to market. I'm not planning to start a business any time soon, but I've had it in the back of my mind to maybe do something small to cover the cost of my materials and such (and be able to buy better yarn). Thanks for sharing your own story - definitely very encouraging! I think I'll let the ideas percolate awhile, and if l really do want to start something in the future l will definitely be checking out some of the resources you mention. Glad that you've been able to do well in your business, and bless so many of us with your videos as well!
Elise, this was a great video. Thank you! Every question you answered was something I I was also wondering about. Thank you for the encouragement. Totally love you and your channel!!!
Fantastic video Elise! I love everything you do. I'm so proud of you for doing what you love AND being able to make a living from it! Also, how awesome for your to mentor people and cheer them on. So refreshing to see and you do it so well! Thank you so much!
i Elise, I just heard from my cousin. She loved your video! She found it so inspiring and positive. She liked the video so much she subscribed to your channel and said she might start crocheting again. Thanks again for all you do.
Thank you so much for this! I’m going back and forth about doing it. I have had an Etsy shop with patterns, I have tried selling toys, but it never really took off. And now I’m in a position when I can’t have full or even part time job, but I really need to make an income. For money, yes, but also for feeling of accomplishment. And I don’t have atom of support in it. My husband keeps saying about every idea I have “it’s too difficult, there’s no money in it, you’re too busy for it”. Not that he says no, don’t do it. But I don’t feel like he believes in me. Listening to you really helped me!
I'm so sorry you don't have that support. One of my kids was really against me starting a TH-cam channel. She thought I was going to make a fool out of myself. But now she realizes that she was wrong and freely admits it. I hope someday your husband will say the same thing to you!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thanks for this video. I’m in the process of retiring from my business of 20 years that grew up around my family and I really don’t want a job. I have thought about crocheting because I love it!
Excellent video! I am an accountant for work and a knitter/crocheter for recreation. All of your answers and advice were spot on! I also love hearing your story - very inspiring. Thank you! 👍😊
watching this as I do my first set of coasters for my shop. I really hope I can do this, i will try to make enought to buy some things for my future home next year. I am music teacher student, I already worked as a music teacher, but sadly I live in a place where teachers are not valued, and music is reason to laugh. I know that with time I will be able to work as a teacher, but while I can't, I will try my best with my shop!
I can't thank you enough! Your words left me feeling excited and ambitious! Your story you shared at the end about your journey brought a smile and tears of admiration.
I started making amigurumis gifts for family and friends for Christmas last yr when I decided I wanted to take it a step further and sell them. I've been working on my stash ever since and each day I'm thinking about it I get more and more excited! This video came at a great time because I was wondering about all the different things I need to do besides just creating. Thank you for this! I love watching your videos it's very inspiring for all of us. 😁
i finally decided i’d love to make crocheting my main source of income (obviously over time) so i’ve been watching so many videos and i think yours helped me and gave me a bit of confidence!
You are a good person!!! You have given really honest information and supportive! I’ve been following you since the beginning. I think you are amazing!!!
Thank you so much. I'm a caregiver . I have wanted to start my own business for a while now. I have sold some things. This video was so helpful. I am dealing with grief. My son was killed on his motorcycle 12-3-22. So my grief is getting in the way of my Productivity. How do you get past that. The lack of motivation?
Cindy, I'm so sorry for your loss. Grief affects each of us in different ways. I have found that I need to set aside time periodically to let myself grieve, maybe 15 minutes at a special time of day, maybe one morning a week, whatever frequency I need. Then when that time is up I set aside my remembrance of that special person and go on to what I next need to do. But I will revisit my grief periodically. Maybe tears will come, maybe not. Maybe I need to look at photos, maybe hold something, maybe listen to music or remember a silly joke. Grief visits us because of love, and love never dies, it changes. Just as you set aside time to grieve, set grief aside, too. When you need to remember him, let it happen, it's okay. Over time grief changes, and it reminds us of shared love.
My heart goes out to you, Cindy. I can't even imagine what you're going through and I don't feel qualified to give you any advice. I just wish I could give you a big ole hug. ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
Thank you so much. I k ow this is a life long journey. I have a support group. They are amazing. I take it 1 day at a time. I'm working Is towards starting my own business. I feel as though care giving is becoming too much. I will continue to do it for as long as I can. But I am looking into crocheting crocheting and selling to become my new next next adventure
Thank you for posting! Recently started building my crochet channel, with LIVE crochet sessions in hopes of building a business…these are some really great tips! Love your adoption certificate idea, and everything really makes sense!
Hello there, I found your channel sometimes late last year. This video couldn’t have come at any better time, at age 66 I find myself in a need of housing, in order to do that I need to have an extra income. I have been trying the so called normal way to find a job, unfortunately I’ve been unsuccessful. In the mean time I have been watching videos on how to start my own crochet business at the same time I’m gripped with so much fear of the unknown. I know I don’t know you personally for some reason I felt I can trust you & follow your leads. I know I have to continue the old traditional way to find a job in the mean time I’ll continue to pursue the way of having my own business. Thank you for this video, the info & the links you’ve provided. I’m in Canada, & I will look up the legal info in regards to licensing. Keep up the good work, look forward to your next video. ❤ T
My heart goes out to you! ❤️ I think it's very wise to be thinking of multiple different ways to make money. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
You are such an inspiring creator! Right at the end when you said if you feel something stiring inside, you can and should do it, that is so motivating. Thank you for all you do!!
Thank you! I have been struggling lately with wondering if I should put myself out there, if my stuff is good enough or even if I have original ideas. Thanks to all your resources I think I'm going to take the leap 🥰
Hey Elise, I really appreciate you taking time to give some insight into a crochet business. I recently started my own TH-cam channel, I don't expect it to be huge but something I can add to show my joy of creating. I am kinda doing things backwards lol, as I have not started selling things. I am still finding where I find my biggest joy in creating, I know I love making Amigurumi and blankets. But I won't do custom orders again, I did one and it was just not fun at all. My love of crocheting took a hit for a few months but it is back now. Hearing your thoughts as someone I have come to respect as a creator was very encouraging.
❤Thank you so much for your encouraging words at the time I started by crocheting again and a senior who is caring for my husband now I can’t leave him alone and I love yarn and need income so I am overwhelmed and have sold a few items but I don’t know how to start a small business but I really appreciated your love for crocheting and the information that was given …you’re awesome and I thank you very much… take care Joy😊
You crack me up! I love your answers to comments/questions. You're honest (which I love). You give answers based on experiences. You can relate. I enjoy the answer about social media when you stated Tik Tok, Facebook, Instagram were soul-sucking to you. I can see that. Instagram gives you about 24 hrs viewing and then it kind of vanishes (if it is harder to get viewed for 24 hrs then I'm not bothering). Love it. You also link things of importance in the description below. I check those out too.
Great video. I think a lot of these tips apply to many businesses. I do think what really helps is having a great support network. It can make all the difference. The information you provide is so helpful. Thank you
I guess the timing was perfect for me with this video because, yes, I've had this stirring up in me for a while. I learned how to crochet during the pandemic and everyone who has seen my ami's says "You should be selling these!" Of course I agree but now I just have to go for it! Although, the stupid silly thing that was holding me back was the name of my business! It drove me insane because I have the know-how on the selling and technical stuff but I was or am very picky about how my logo and banner will look across platforms. BUT, I finally came up with it yesterday! (After 2 years! Lol!) I had said to myself, just keep crocheting and it will come when the time is right. I want to diversify my income stream, as you mentioned. I want to sell patterns. I'm very good at understanding and following patterns but I want to write my own. You would think I would know by now but it still stumps me on how to draw something and then make it! I've taken one or two courses and read a book but it didn't really help. Do you have any suggestions or resources that you'd reccomend? Thanks Elise!!❤ Your video was perfect!
This is so inspiring. I have been making birthday and Christmas presents all year round for friends and family. I have always wanted to set up my own booth at events or farmers' market as a side hustle, and your video motivated me. Thank you so much!
Hi, I'm from Brazil 🇧🇷 and I recently discovered your channel. I love your videos, your energy and your passion is so contagious. Thank you for sharing all of this with us. ❤
Thank you for this video! I started my channel in August just for fun, and now I really trying to find my way, as I try to grow it into something more. You hit on so many great points!
thank you so much for all the insider tips :) I am going to start my small business up this summer. Its a mix of homemade items, paintings and patterns. I live on a farm and have a building thats being renovated for that purpose alone. After seeing this vlog, i realized that most of the things i have already thought of, but there was some that i didn't had, so thank you :)
I have a youtube channel, and it's taken 2 plus years and still not monetized. This year I took steps to get business license, signed up to use affiliate links etc. It's slow going, but as I am disabled (Epilepsy, Surgical Brain injury etc.), and can no longer work outside the home, this is the most feasible for me. So I keep at it, adding where I am able. One day, I'll get there.
Thank you Elise for your advice ...it gives me hope that maybe at some point I can do something with this hobby that I love and at this time that the normal income is so much compromised. ❤
I recently found your videos and enjoy watching each one. Your energy and authenticity is comforting. This video was absolutely wonderful, so honest and encouraging, thank you. My biggest struggle is confidence that my items are good enough to sell. Friends and family of course order my stuff but I’ve yet to sell to an unknown person, this is my first goal of this new year. Again thank you, this video was very informative and has me thinking, but also thank you for all your videos I truly enjoy them.
Ha ha! Ive got loads of ideas in my head now as to what or how i would do a business, even though i have zero intention of doing one right now, because I'm homeschooling my three children, 10, 12 and 13 so i won't be retiring from that for a while. But its nice to think about what I might be able to do with my time when they all finish and go off their separate ways to make their own way in the world. Thanks tho you r a great inspiration!! ❤
Thank you Elise. I found this really inspiring even though I don't intend to start a business of any kind! I can apply everything you said to my life plans in general. 😊
This is a wonderful video. I have been selling on line and at vendor events for a few years. A lot of what you have said I have experienced, yet I learn more from you thanks so much.
omg this video is pushing me to post mine >< my reason on not slling my crochet stuff : 1. im working full time job n when is my time to crochet? 2. I'm afraid of my skill is actually a lousy one and its give me anxiety. 🤦♀ however when i make crochet item for my friend and family pushing me to go n sell it. So I start to getting serious this year and start selling some item at my aunt stall >< start your 1st step guys
You are such a beautiful person! Thank you for sharing your experiences and wisdom. Mostly importantly, I appreciate how encouraging you are to those who want to make crochet a profitable business. I’m happy to just crochet for my family but definitely need to consider charging their friends for the yarn at least 😊
Etsy has never worked for me. I have things out there all handmade. Nothing's ever sold. No traffic. Nothing. I make my money at craft fairs, word of mouth and my FB page. I do pay my bills. Sometimes it is a struggle. Thank you for sharing. Take care
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! 🧶🧶🧶
I had the same problem and shut down my shop a year ago. My only sakes since then have been on FB Marketplace.
@@savysuzzie1 same here along with craft fairs.
It definitely does! I will also mention adding value when you share on social media. Give people a helpful tip! It makes a big difference! 🧶🧶🧶
Yes, surely does. I also saw that you didn't care for the regular posting continuously on social, which I understand. I think it can help in the beginning so people find you. Once you have a following like you do now, you can post when it feels good. Love the ideas!

Just beginning my crochet business journey. I was born with a physical disability that prevents me from working in the traditional sense. So something I can do that requires limited mobility and can be done at home is perfect for me. I wish I had the courage to begin sooner. Thank you for your tips and positive attitude
That's wonderful! My son is physically disabled as well so I can sympathize with wanting to find an alternative for work! Good luck to you!! 👏👏👏
Thanks for your Honesty in discussing selling handmade items! Especially about the income part. I’ve had some home businesses, and began to understand that I basically want my hobbies to pay for themselves, like make enough money to cover the materials cost, and some for my time.
Glad it was helpful! ❤️
Off topic.....I Just want to say....your skin ALWAYS look on point! Flawless and healthy. 😊
Thank you!! I really think it's my camera!! It doesn't look that good in real life!! 🤣
@EliseRoseCrochet lol I highly doubt it lol
I agree, you always look fresh and beautiful 😊
One thing on packaging/handmade tags, etc that I discovered making my own stickers is use EVERYTHING.
I had sticker paper left over after printing and cutting out stickers, and those trimmings were the perfet size to draw or stamp my logo to add to the envelope and make a plain envelope look a little bit nicer. Those trimmings otherwise would have been thrown away and been a loss, but reusing them helps you maximize profit vs expense (as well as minimizing the waste your creating generates!)
Great tip!! Thank you for sharing! ❤️❤️
Sounds like this could be a wonderful passion project for you!! 🩷🩷🩷
Wonderful!!! That's amazing!!! 👏👏👏
I've never seen someone like you answering questions in such a helpful way. Thanks to you, I opened an Instagram account and I am showing off the toys I make. My priority is to show people how much fun and happiness this hobby gives me. Your advice is really useful, thank you :)
That's wonderful!!!! 👏👏👏
I really do admire you and consider you a real wonder woman you work so hard and sounds like you are a wonderful mum. I do hope life treats you well.
Thank you so very much! ❤️❤️❤️
I’m reading Profit First right now too!! I already set up my accounts and have started taking a profit! Amazing 🎉 I highly recommend.
It's a fantastic book and has literally changed my business for the better! ❤️❤️❤️
I've been crochet for around 6 months now, and yesterday, my mom taught me how to knit. I still have a lot of learning to do, but I'm getting there 😊
Thank you so much for this, Elise.
That is wonderful!!! I'm so excited for you!!! 👏👏👏
It's been 5 years! Which is crazy to think!! 🤯 And thank you so much for your support!! ❤️❤️❤️
This is a great video! One thing you kept saying is "when I was selling finished projects" . If you're not selling finished projects, what do you do with thngs you make from your patterns and is all your profits now from your patterns sales and youtube, etc
I typically hoard the toys I make, but I also give them away. I may end up needing to sell some in the future (when I run out of room) 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome!!! 👏👏👏 Just know that we all second guess ourselves. The point is to push past it, be decisive and learn from the success and failures! ❤️❤️❤️
I crochet part time and I have a shop on Etsy . I sell physical products . Crochet world become very competitive that a lot of people sells their Amigurumi for nothing. 😢
My next goal is to try patterns . My Main issue is ..English is not my main language so I’m little bit scared 😅. But I must confront my fear .
Yes! Won't let fear stop you! You can do it!! 👏👏👏
That's good that you know what you want from your crocheting! Doing this as a business isn't for everyone! ❤️❤️❤️
@@EliseRoseCrochet thank you! 🫶🏻 but I absolutely love watching crochet content while I crochet and I love your channel 🥰
Thank you so much for a great video. I decided not to renew my business license this year because for the last 3 years I have not made a single profit.
I’m just feeling defeated and overwhelmed. I feel like your video helped and will definitely be looking into the resources you shared.
I totally understand! It's not easy to keep going when you're not seeing the return you were hoping for! ❤️❤️❤️
Elise, you are so warm and inspirational! I certainly am not looking to start a business but always enjoy your energetic videos! Thank you for what you are doing to help others who wish to do what you are doing! You're amazing!
Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️❤️
That's wonderful!!! It really can be tough to squeeze in crochet time when you have a crochet TH-cam channel!! 🧶🧶🧶
You have a lot on your plate! Be gentle with yourself! Hopefully someday soon you'll be ready to dive in and make this your full time job! 🧶🧶🧶
I love your positivity & it’s true that you can’t know until you try❤
Exactly!! There's not a lot to lose either! ❤️❤️❤️
You're so welcome!! I'm so glad it was helpful advice! 🧶🧶🧶
Awesome!!! I'm glad you're taking CBA! I wish I had done it much sooner than I did! ❤️
Elise, you are so inspiring and practical, too! Right now I am happy to just earn enough money to buy more yarn, but someday I may want to expand from this, so thanks for the info.
That's exactly how I felt in the beginning! ❤️❤️❤️
How wonderful!!! That sounds like a dream business!!! 🧸🧶❤️
THANK YOU for answering my question!! It’s been BURNING in my mind for SO LONG. Thank you! Such a terrific video - I’ll be watching this again (& again)! Thank you! Hugs (NurseLisaFromOhio) ☺️🫶🏻🧶
Thank you, Lisa! I'm so glad you found it helpful! ❤️❤️❤️
I was also obsessed with CPK!!!!
That is awesome advice!!! Thank you for sharing your strategy!! 👏👏👏
I hope it will be encouraging for her as well!! ❤️❤️❤️
People keep telling me to sell my creations and while I might eventually, right now I just want to have fun with it, you know? I just started the last week of October 2023 so I'm still a beginner! (Though I picked up the craft very easily.) This video will definitely help me when I do eventually decide to sell my stuff though!
Yes! Have fun with it! Start selling when it feels right! ❤️❤️❤️
Yes injuries... as I sit here with tears as I just tore the ligament in my right thumb on the weekend. I was just recovering from wrist surgery on that hand and now I'm messed up. Surgery again in my future. I don't know if I'll ever spin, knit and crochet again.😢
Oh no!!!! I'm so so sorry! Best wishes for making a full recovery! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you so much! There are a lot of amazing crochet business owners out there who are killing it!!! It's very inspiring! ❤️
Thank you so much Elise! I'm hoping crocheting will give me that sense of purpose again. Thank you!! ❤❤
I'm so glad it was helpful! 🧶
Thank you, Elise! I recently decided to start my own TH-cam crochet channel, @CrochetingWithMichelle and you have inspired me so much. I've been going back and watching your past videos on this topic, too. You're the best!
That's awesome! Thank you for sharing! 👏👏👏
Congrats on getting to fulltime pay status! That takes hard work, dedication, and drive!
Thank you so much! ❤️
I didn't know you were a homeschool mom! This is my sixth year and we are loving it!
Yes! I still miss it very much even though it's the hardest work I've ever done! ❤️
Thank you so much, Samantha! I am working on a granny blanket and enjoying something simple! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm so glad it was helpful!! And a paper craft business sounds like so much fun!! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm so glad it was helpful!! ❤️❤️❤️
Elise, this was a great video. Thank you! Every question you answered was something I I was also wondering about. Thank you for the encouragement. Totally love you and your channel!!!
Glad it was helpful! ❤️
Fantastic video Elise! I love everything you do. I'm so proud of you for doing what you love AND being able to make a living from it! Also, how awesome for your to mentor people and cheer them on. So refreshing to see and you do it so well! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️❤️
I've been looking into creating a creative TH-cam channel for a while now, and now I have a path. Thank you!
I'm so glad it was helpful! ❤️
i Elise, I just heard from my cousin. She loved your video! She found it so inspiring and positive. She liked the video so much she subscribed to your channel and said she might start crocheting again. Thanks again for all you do.
Wonderful! ❤️❤️❤️
These are all questions in my own mind! Thank you for the motivation. I have a lot of little kids too and just stuck taking the first business step.
You got this! 👏👏👏
@@EliseRoseCrochet thank you!!
Enjoy your videos. I am so glad you are on learning so much thank you
I'm so glad! 😀
Great Video and so great to hear your cheerful voice UK has had storm after storm and I looking forward to spring and your voice is cheerful
Thank you so much!! We've had a lot of rain here in North Carolina recently as well! 🌧️
That's wonderful!! Good luck with the transition! ❤️
Excellent video! I am an accountant for work and a knitter/crocheter for recreation. All of your answers and advice were spot on! I also love hearing your story - very inspiring. Thank you! 👍😊
Glad it was helpful! Thank you! ❤️
Thank you for your videos!! What a great way to spend my Saturday morning! ❤
You are so welcome! I'm so glad you liked it! ❤️
watching this as I do my first set of coasters for my shop.
Thank you so much! You really inspired me! I was so excited to share with my family that a famous TH-camr answered my questions.
lol!! Thank you for the question! ❤️
Thank you so much! I'm so glad it was helpful! 🧶🧶🧶
i finally decided i’d love to make crocheting my main source of income (obviously over time) so i’ve been watching so many videos and i think yours helped me and gave me a bit of confidence!
This was one of the most inspiring and helpful video I’ve come across for helping grow a crochet business! Thank you ❤❤
You are so welcome! And thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for being so straight forward and so honest with all the questions. You're such an inspiration to all of us 👍🏻💖
You're so welcome! Glad it was helpful! ❤️❤️❤️
You are a good person!!! You have given really honest information and supportive! I’ve been following you since the beginning. I think you are amazing!!!
Thank you so much 🤗
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! What wonderful advice.
Awesome! 🙌
I'm so glad it was helpful! There really is no right way to do it! We are all just making it up as we go! 🤣❤️🧶
I just watched this for the 2nd time. So worthwhile, thank you.
Bless your heart, Joy! ❤️ I wish nothing but the best for you!!! 🩷💙🩵💚
Thank you
Thanks so much!! I couldn't agree more! ❤️
Thanks Elise!!❤
Your video was perfect!
Awesome!!!! Sounds like the timing is right for you! I think the best thing to do is just keep working on designing and it will get easier! ❤️
this is really inspirational! I'm staring out with shorts but now im inspired to make a full video
That's great! There are a lot of people doing really well with Shorts and TikTok! 🧶🧶🧶
I always make what I love too, hehe I'm happy to hear that you do the same, I thought I was the only stubborn person! Lol
Haha!!! Nope! You're not the only one, Katie! 🤣🤣🤣
This is so inspiring. I have been making birthday and Christmas presents all year round for friends and family. I have always wanted to set up my own booth at events or farmers' market as a side hustle, and your video motivated me. Thank you so much!
That's great! Good luck to you!! ❤️
Wonderful!! Keep learning! 👏👏👏
why am i gonna cry thank you for this video
Awww! I hope it was helpful! ❤️
thank you so much for all the insider tips :) I am going to start my small business up this summer. Its a mix of homemade items, paintings and patterns. I live on a farm and have a building thats being renovated for that purpose alone. After seeing this vlog, i realized that most of the things i have already thought of, but there was some that i didn't had, so thank you :)
That's amazing!!! Good luck to you!! 👏👏👏
Thank you so much for this video ❤ as I’m trying to figure out on what direction I want to go in my crochet 🧶 journey here in Southern Ontario
You are so welcome! Good luck to you! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for this! This was so helpful and informative. You really got the gears turning in my head. Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you SO MUCH, Elise! This video is such a gift and I am grateful for your encouragement!
You're so welcome! ❤️
Dear Elise, what a fantastic video. You gave a lot of valuable tips. Worth watching it again and again. Appreciate your honesty. Love from Singapore

Thank you Elise🤍 As always you deliver🧶🧶
You’re so welcome! 😊
Thank you Elise for your advice ...it gives me hope that maybe at some point I can do something with this hobby that I love and at this time that the normal income is so much compromised. ❤
You're so welcome! Good luck to you! ❤️
That's such a great goal for this year! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you for your video. It was very informative.
You are welcome! ❤️
This is a wonderful video. I have been selling on line and at vendor events for a few years. A lot of what you have said I have experienced, yet I learn more from you thanks so much.

You are such a beautiful person! Thank you for sharing your experiences and wisdom. Mostly importantly, I appreciate how encouraging you are to those who want to make crochet a profitable business. I’m happy to just crochet for my family but definitely need to consider charging their friends for the yarn at least 😊
Thank you so much for your kind words! ❤️❤️❤️
