If you liked the video I’d be stoked if you checked out my music on Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, or wherever you listen, especially my album “There’s Something Better”. Thank you!
@@jakehunt4144If you already have an iPad, get the trial and see if you like it. It is very beginner friendly. If you don’t have an iPad, don’t buy one for music production. Get a Mac Mini with 16gb of ram, and if you have a bit more money, a MacBook.
Thanks!!! I was going to bring all my Angelic Vibes kits to my iPad. I’m also going to spend the $60 for the BA-1 and Model 15 synths! I already have MKSensation, Pure Synth platinum, Korg module and free others. I will definitely be putting over my NI Expansions!
For the non-believers who say you can't create a song using an iPad and have it sound good. If it made me get up and dance all the way in Arizona, you've done awesome work, my friend. I can totally do some vocals over that if you ever plan to make it into an official song.
Thank you very much Dylan, it was an informative and enjoyable video. It would be great if you could make more videos about using Logic Pro on iPad. Please continue to produce content like this. I think I will learn a lot from you. Thank you very much, good job 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You can MOST DEFINITELY use Native Instruments Expansions! They are WAV files so drum kit designer will work fine. Just port over your favorite expansions. All won’t make it 🤣. Even for my favorite Angelic Vibe drum kits and loops
Logic Pro on iPad is just making everything move more fluidly lately. I haven’t finished off anything just quite yet, but I’m definitely looking forward to remaking some of the songs that I deleted off of my channel.
@@DylanParisMusic I do electronic music, so I really like the electronic drums that it comes with, but I’m still trying to figure out if I can get other options into my iPad that are not available directly through Logic Pro.
I guess what I'm wondering here is - is this really any more convenient or simple than using a macbook pro, which has more power and allows for the full standard version of Logic Pro along with wider support of audio interfaces? I'm torn on whether this is better or worse. At some point the setup just becomes the same as using a laptop
The only area I think it’s truly better is that you could use just the tablet and make a full song with a lot more portability and flexibility. As soon as you start adding accessories or need to use headphones… there’s an argument a MacBook is a better choice!
This was a fun, exciting video, and a great demonstration of an iPad workflow. Thank you for putting it together! The way you were able to track and mix an entire song without a keyboard and mouse-and alas, without the distractions of a desktop setup-is just inspiring! I say, great work on that, man. Now, you're just gonna export it, airdrop, and then master! Amazing. I've been aspiring for a music production and video editing iPad setup for a while now, and this video has got me thinking about it even more. Though, it has also raised a question I had not thought of before-how exactly do you Command + Z on an iPad? 😄
Thank you! As far as command z, a lot of apps have an undo button, and if you’re using a Bluetooth keyboard or something like the Magic Keyboard, command z usually works in a lot of apps
Hullo Dylan, I was here yesterday and I kinda forgot to ask, what stand is that you have your ipad on, is attached to the main midi controller stand or seperate. the main plate with the tablet, I am struggling to find a nice convinient place for the tablet, would surely appreciate the help, point me some place, thanks..
Once you are done aren’t you afraid to go back to your project and move something by accident ? You know because it’s always saving , no save as feature , it’s always live like clay that never dries. How do you handle that ?
It’s not bothered me but I do save a lot of versions of songs in Ableton so it’s definitely worth considering! I’d probably make a copy if I was gonna try something drastic in a mix

Great video! Do you know how to connect a midi foot switch to launch the loops for guitat playing? Do you might also know which kind of small midi keyboard would work for controlling the instrument parameters (synth, amp etc ). Thx, keep up the great work! btw I want to built an ipad set up for quick songwriting/pre production in the evening after work. - got great inspiration from your video!
Hi, when I record a midi track using my Roland fp10, connecting it via a midi cable, the midi track gets recorded in the logicpro for iPad, however since I am using the sustain pedal on my Roland, the midi track has either too much sustain or if I reduce the sustain it becomes too little. Why doesn’t record just the way I use the sustain pedal?

Been watching your videos for a while, good stuff! Question: how do you finish composing these beats into real tracks? I have loads of beats I made like this one in the video, but then just drop them.
It depends! Some songs I make for videos are just sketches and then sort of stay that way. The ones I really vibe with get recorded into arrangers / song modes like in my tutorial last week for logic, and then I usually export the stems out into Ableton where I add extra layers, come up with real lyrics, and re record vocals. Depending on the song I will then send to my friend for mixing and some additional elements like with a lot of my album There’s Something Better where my friend Jake Stein aka WRNG HAUS did a bunch of mixing and production. Some songs I do entirely myself as well. I’m not amazing at mixing or mastering though
Super understandable! I definitely didn’t have the sort of stuff I have now when I started. You can do most of this with a cheaper iPad and midi keyboard for sure!
Ableton isn't on ipad (other than Ableton Note which is barely in the same category of app and is more for song sketching with huge limitations). Logic on ipad seems to be a beefed up version of Garageband for ipad. It's one of the more processor heavy apps I've used. I upgraded to an M2 ipad pro with 1tb SSD / 16 gigs of ram once logic dropped and i've had very few issues with this configuration. If a full version of ableton was created for ipad, i suspect it would be a more intensive app, but it's hard to say without it existing.
