      Great video!
      But, I have to put in some corrections here:
      Drummer - Follow another track IS THERE on the iPad!
      Battery life - this is nothing I have on my iPad Pro 12.9’ M1 - can the Sound Interface be the power thief?
      Problem with touch interface in the track/region area (copy/paste/cut) - why not use a bluetooth mouse when you using iPad on the studio desk?
      Sending a iPad Logic project to the Mac - why pass a cloud services when you just can Airdrop it - big projects takes just seconds or few minutes if they are huge…
      Overall - my opinion about Logic Pro for iPad, it’s fuckin’ awesome, and, sure, there are some missing features, but, a lot of users complain often results into that the missing features is already there, on the iPad, but not easy to find without RTFM…

    I'm not an Apple guy, so my iPad Air 11" M2 is the first iAnything I've ever bought. I've only been playing around with the month trial of Logic Pro for about a day, and I already see it becoming my main DAW. I have a monster desktop PC with FL Studio and all the plugins, but since my day job involves sitting at a computer, I don't really like doing it when I get home. While the iPad isn't entirely different, it's enough of a different vibe to make me want to pick it up. Some more specific thoughts/tips I've already figured out:
    1. If you're going to be using it in one spot, and with external gear, get a USB hub with power pass through, aka PD(Power Delivery), you won't have to worry about draining your battery
    2. You DO NOT NEED AN IPAD PRO. Unless you're doing really large projects or using a lot of the AI musician stuff, I don't think you really need an iPad Air. The 10th gen iPad has the power to run this app pretty well, I'm sure, since it's get as much or more than some of the older Pro models I've seen people using on TH-cam. With 256GB of storage I think it's under $500 here in the USA right now.

    The drummer can follow a track; it's just that the interface is a little different.
    The touch interface is a little hit or miss, but I think things are moving in the right direction.
    It's amazing that we can have an inexpensive, lightweight, truly portable studio that fits in your backpack.
    Thanks for the video and the track. I hope you get your records back someday 😅

      Not that cheap if you want a iPad Pro M2 with 1 TB of storage and 16G of Ram, and an apple pencil ,,, here in Australia that would cost about AU$3.500 thereabouts.. cheaper to use a MacBook Pro or Air.

I’ve never seen your channel before but i truly appreciate you using it in a real life demonstration and also being transparent that it’s not the right application for your workflow but it could be for others. Hi Jason, well done tutorial, congratulations. Two points I see differently: for me there is no either/or with Logic iPad7Mac, only and. I start something, sometimes in bed, on the deckchair and see it's on a promising path. So far I haven't had to boot up a computer or add any peripherals. Now it's worth the effort to switch to the computer. I don't transfer the project via the cloud, but with airdrop. It works great. I also come from the guitar, but I rarely play it any more. As a guitarist, I automatically have more devices on the iPad, which is not so easy..
    You describe the problems of using a new program and compare it with a program that you have been using blindly for years. Don't you think the problem will simply disappear over time? I'm sure it does. I‘m Logic user since it‘s very first version and iPads for a year now, and happy with both

    Enjoyed your painfully honest approach about the iPad's limitations. I think the proposed future benefit for me as a professional credited recordered composer is getting away from the confines of the home studio to a (lol) park bench after a brisk walk, clearing my head and pulling out the pad and picking up where I left off. to date, I've used Jump Desktop to work this way and hopeful with the iPad software that the cloud storage quickens and pulls this all together. I'm hopeful for a more collaborative writing future as well with Apple devices. Thoughts?

    I’ve been swapping projects back and forth between my iMac and iPad via iCloud and it’s literally instantaneous so something was ‘not quite right’ when you tried this I’d suggest. Since I am still using an Intel iMac I like how I can now easily share recordings from AUv3 plugins on the iPad that are only currently M1 supported. Similarly, if I want to drop a stem from say UVI Falcon into a track I’m developing on the iPad I can now do that more easily. I tend to do a lot of brainstorming on the iPad so I’ll probably invest in a 1-year annual subscription and device next steps at the end of that year.

    Thanks. My experience is that it takes time to get your head around another way of working. After working with it for several nights in a row I feel I can find my way around easily and produce tracks efficiently. I make electronic music and use Synthmaster one and 2, which produce desktop class sound on the iPad. This gives me hope for other manufacturers to port Serum, for example.

However, I'm not interested in a subscription nor is my iPad Pro new enough to support LP so Cubasis is what I'm toying around with presently. Maybe at some point in the future when I get a newer iPad I'll look at Logic.

Logic Remote let’s you use an iPad for a lot of the user interface functions to control alógico running on your Mac. You can even use two iPads controlling different functions at the same time. I found Logic Remote to be more useful than alógica Oro for iPad.

    Excellent excellent video, and excellent excellent song! So true that as songwriters we never often know where the inspiration will come from..be it the lyrics, or grooves., or from Up Above or whatever...We only need our tools to be easy to use, and not to get in the way and stifle the creativity. The drum tool in Logic sounded great, as the drums kick, and sound powerful. I would have enjoyed a few "in the process " audio clips prior to the finished song. The platforms we use to record the music are ultimately irrelevant, as getting the music or video completed with an enhancement of our creativity is a reasonable expectation from most of the modern DAWs and tools at our disposal. AI is also an incredible aid to this process. People sometimes laugh when I say that I use Band In The Box, to aid in my songwriting, because they don't know how good it's current capabilities are, but over the years it has become a fantastic idea generator. Any tool that works and helps us create is a winner as far as I am concerned,, and when Apple has a good product, they often make it a great one with their constant updates, and I think Logic Ipad will be a great one over time as they keep improving it. For people who need or want the portability, it's one of the only hi-level products around. For the final mix on the tune I might bring the vocals up a bit more in the mix. ( we can all be producers and engineers now with these excellent products.) This video was really a great demonstration of the power of TH-cam and the way it can be used to review and show us about a product in a really meaningful way.

I think i m missing 3rd party VST effects like on Mac ……can u plz suggest how I can get better output ( specially for Fingerstyle cover recordings )

    • @thejasontlewis
      @thejasontlewis  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You have to know what plugins to pick. Logic's stock plugins are all pretty much based on well-known gear of the past. The stock compressor mimics all the different styles of compressors. The EQ as well. So do some research on the signal chains that have worked best for other folks.
      Also, make sure you're mixing the guitar in the best way possible to get the sound you hear in your head. the sound of finger-style guitar close miccd (~12" away ) is much different than the sound of a good room and the guitar 3 feet away.
      Also, make sure you're recording at a decent level (around -6db peak) and if you're blending the pickup and the mic sound, the pickup should barely be audible comparatively. Acoustic guitar pickups can be great for adding body and presence to the sound, but the sound terrible if you can actually hear them.
      Hope that helps.

    I tried like you used logic since emagic days ,won’t be subscribing it’s ok but not into subscriptions and all my favourite plug ins can’t be used. I think it’s a hobby version and the iPad just doesn’t feel like a proper device for serious work! Enjoyed this........................But as an aside........ I have a Mac Pro sitting under my desk that cost me about $5,000.00 plus software. It may as well be a boat anchor because it can't use the updates that Apple so conveniently give away once one pays the one up cost as you point out. What's the point? They only give one updates for free to make one buy another computer. Bloody expensive updates I reckon having to spent thousands every five years for a new box.

    • @thejasontlewis
      @thejasontlewis  ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re stuck in the sunk cost fallacy. You got what you paid for. It’s still operational. If you want new features you have to buy new stuff. No one expects the cool stuff from a brand new car for their 10 year old used car. But it still runs.

    • @LamarBurgess-s6u
      @LamarBurgess-s6u ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thejasontlewis You are right. I did get what I paid for, more fool me. I see your point but we have to compare apples with apples so to speak. Your car analogy enforces my point and lessens yours. I can strap on a turbo, upgrade the tyres, change the 'carby et al and the car runs. I could even attach a computer management system to run all the 'cool stuff'. ( Now there's a debate for another day) I can upgrade the engine and the windscreen wipers etc. etc.. I can't do the computer equivalent on an Apple computer because the hardware is made finite by the O.S. and nothing on my car is. I can change it all and it will run. Apple intentionally change the software to not run on existing hardware.
      I'm comparing Microsoft and Apple, not cars and computers.
      I did buy new 'stuff': 'it's called Windows 10 and Windows 11. (Sorry, got it all for free actually). All my software still runs on my new Win 11 partition that ran on Win 7. I can still update all my software and it runs. I only had to buy the software, not a whole new computer. I can't update Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Logic or even that nice little Garage Band app. My Apple 'sunk cost ' ( who thought up that groovy term) is no fallacy. I, in my ignorance, bought a Mac Pro without knowing it would be totally 'OBSOLETE" in five years.
      Nothing I say here is a criticism of you. I don't know you other than by what you present yourself as to me. I would concede that you are probably much smarter than me, but hell, that would be very easy. Good luck in the future. That's all I've got to say about this. source: Forest Gump

    No way am I subscribing to any DAW.
    Better to BOYCOTT this product by Apple
    before they try to start imposing subscriptions
    on Logic Pro X for the MacBook and Mac Pro.
    This is a ‘Test Run’ by Apple to ‘test the waters’.
    If we let them get away with this now,
    you should be aware of what the future will hold.
    I recently walked away from Pro Tools for this very reason.
    BOYCOTT each and every DAW Company
    that attempts to impose subscriptions.

    Typewriter jockeys are all whining about this or that but it’s all in your head . This is so great even in this first version. If you take a deep breath stop worrying about which plugin you can’t use ( yet) or what key command isn’t available. This is a touch device . It’s ten times more intuitive but your marriage to the Qwerty and mouse isn’t . It’s pointless to keep complaining because you guys with typewriters under your arms all resent having your exclusiveness threatened. You know people who Don’t resent this are seizing your missed opportunities in the field were your not stuck in front of your computer. Give it time you won’t regret it. The typewriter won’t be going into the future with us because it’s a boat anchor accessory. I’ve already paid for my Mac ultra twin with two gigs using Logic on the iPad Pro …cause it’s a game changer.✌️👽

    • @christoroppolo8742
      @christoroppolo8742 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@xray2785 the reason this happened is because developers of apps couldn’t continue unpaid for updates much less do Logic in a freaky new streamlined version . Remember audio-bus? Etc etc . And the other reason is exactly what you just said people who used the old version want it for free too including free updates and they are reluctant to use something without a QWERTY and mouse which are both right in front of your iPad Pro I noticed . They are also tracking how many people are using it ( the real reason it’s pay to play ) so if you want to see a one time pay version with paid updates ( a more realistic request) or one with an educational discount which I’m sure is in the works for students just like the desktop version is set up that way too. I’m glad this is available and you can still use the old version which was just updated for free so what’s the problem? Give it time and use it like you want to get to own …maybe apple will respond to positive reviews better than negative ones if they are to even consider what your saying this early …yes? 👽✌️
