Great video…as always! You can actually select multiple notes by tapping, holding and dragging a selection box around the notes. You don’t need to be on the selection tool either. You can keep the trim tool active.
Great video! We've been making videos about producing music on iPad for years in Cubasis so it's so fantastic to see a truly Pro DAW drop for iOS!! For those of us that have been investing into the mobile ecosystem for years in the form of AUv3 apps this is a Godsend.
@@annuartv Both DAWs can literally produce anything. However yes it's true logic has far more features and you might even feel at home there since the UI is similar to Cubasis, but personally for me Cubasis just has a faster workflow. Since "the best" is 100% subjective the only way for you to know is to try it out :)
Great video! Thanks for focusing in on the Sampler! BTW, you can loop your Stems easily with the Loop glyph next to the scissor icon-no Copy Paste needed if you want the same notes/audio to repeat in the timeline...Cheers!
I've watched many Logic Pro for iPad video's and I thought I knew the most things, but this dude delivers me a lot of things I didn't know. All with tasteful musical demo's 👍🏼✌🏼
This really works out to be a Garageband on mescaline, which ain’t the worst thing in the world. It’s the ability to use Logic without being tethered to a Mac for me. And $5/month? I hate sub services too, but I already do that for some services now, so what’s another Lincoln a month for something I actually use a lot? I look forward to when you do a vid for tracking vocals!!
I struggle to see the real life, use case scenario where someone has a great big Arturia midi controller and hooks it up to...an ipad? Surely, it would give a better idea of the difference over the desktop version and the characteristics of the product by imagining you were indeed in that park and just had the ipad to make music on?
Seriously... just an iPad... has a mic, a battery, a speaker... TONS of storage... it's about time we had an app like this!!! (I was the biggest whiner about how lame the iPad was for music production!)
Wonderful Jef! I'm heading to the App Store. Maybe a neophyte, nearly tone deaf individual like me can have some fun. Please keep going on using the iPad and Logic Pro for producing fulfilling music. Sound sampling is also something I would really like to dive into. Where I live there are loads of unusual sound from nature and industry. Thanks
thanks for the tour. quick question about the midi. Can it receive an external midi clock and can you send out midi signal for triggering hardware synths?
Jef - thanks for the intro video! Take the next quarter of subscription fees on me. :-) I'll be putting Logic on my iPad, and using it as a sketchpad during my many business travel nights. I'll need to figure out how to export the sketches to Studio One or Ableton Live (my studio DAWs), but I'm sure that should be pretty easy stuff. I hope this will prompt some of the other major DAW companies to build/offer FULL-featured iPad versions(!).
Great video! Could be expensive for some of your viewers though 😂. Glad to see you widening your video subjects. Your fantastic video talent deserves a larger subject surface. Back to the topic at hand: Using sampling, rather than complex synthesis also has the advantage of being easier on CPU consumption and therefore battery longevity. Albeit at a cost of increased storage requirements. And arguably it’s easier to begin a journey into original sound design via sampling - especially with a builtin mic.
Thanks a lot for the amazing content. Just started with Logic for iPad and you provided helpful input. Keep it up. Could you please help as i downloaded a vocal preset (.patch files) to help me record my vocals. However, none are showing up when i open Logic! Should i copy them to a specific folder ? Thanks
Can you help me? Can you import video into logic pro on the ipad to edit the sound track?? I know you can on a mac but can not find this for ipad pro (I record live music and need to add it back to the simultaneous video taken on an iphone).
Nice review. I tried Logic on iPad briefly on Day 1, but got frustrated at some of the simple things: as you said, selecting notes should be easier-just a drag 'around' the desired notes. Also-and shame on me, but it wasn't as intuitive as i expected-i couldn't even find the quantization function for a long time. I would think it would be in the top bar, or *much* more prominently featured as a standalone 'button,' not within a nest of other features. But, now that i know, i guess i'll have a smoother time. Your video is inspiring me to have another go at it, but now i'm going to decide between using this vs full Logic on the Macbook Air i just ordered..... Ahhh, First World Problems, right?
Anybody knows if there is possibility to import instrument to iPad version? I need Metal Drum (Palm, Ping and Slap) instruments which exist in desktop version of Logic. But I cannot find them in iPad version (I downloaded all available packs). Any way to import?
Man no one is listening to me about Roland Zenbeats😔. I use Reaper mainly but also uses Zenbeats on my Mac and iPad. I think it’s better than daws and the only limitation is … was gonnna say limited auv3 development, but man I have everything and both loop based and time based . Plus you have amazing Roland sounds.
Bluetooth midi is the future surely ? No dongle as far as midi capability between controller and iPad. Of course as yet though , no audio over Bluetooth?
Subscription isn’t the only downside, Apples very aggressive with iOS updates with their first party apps, you’ll inevitably have to update iPad to relatively frequently.
It’s a total buzz kill to creativity. There isn’t even a four bar count in by default. The song sections functionality in garage band blows the marker garbage out of the water in Logic Pro when composing! It’s the same thing with the horrible browser in this clunky version of logic . The attempt to emulate the daw on the computer is the result of professionals forcing apple to make it an emulation of the daw on desktop. It’s so fussy to get tracks going without stopping to fix or correct something. And I never use loops in their garbage disposal of a third party shit show loops that someone else created for their music it’s a rompler festival as an excuse for a daw on mobile . Nothing works as you would expect it to at all and everyone I talk to hates the subscription and the interface . I’m super disappointed . They need to take a real hard look at garage band and combine the two into one instead of two incomplete or too over engineered crap. Apple doesn’t listen to anyone who want to help get it useful to everyone just the tech wizards. And they want people to pay for this with a subscription too! Electronic music isn’t fun anymore because of focus on bells and whistles. Sickening 😖👽

Looking forward to more Logic Pro + Logic Pro for iPad content!

Maybe this move by apple will reinvigorate Steinberg and make them improve Cubasis which has so much potential but so many pain points and bugs.
@@WarrenPostma Totally agree!
so Im reading logic is better than cubasis? very hesitant here because of the subscription model

Loved the walkthrough and positivity about the Sampler and the app… super inspiring! 👏

Thank you

excellent tutorial Jef thanks
That chord pad blew my mind.

Most welcome! Glad you caught it!

I’m using it as my main daw….I don’t need anything else for guitar music with some synth
Yeah this is super dope
Would love to see notation and ability to enter notes with the pencil
The chord strips have been there since the very first version of GarageBand!
Hi Jef, I think it's great that you've added Logic to your arsenal. Looking forward to seeing some Logic video's from you.
I am excited!
🔥 🔥 🔥 Dope Video . I'm picking it up for sure . Thank you Kindly Bro

Could you tell us where you got that iPad stand?
Can you map midi yet? Such as the volume faders? I am still waiting for this day to come!!
I travel a ton and something like an MPC Live 2 is too big to carry with me everywhere i go, so this is soooo useful for me!

Thanks for the huge tip! So much appreciated… I’ll see about getting another Logic for iPad vid for you in the next month or two!
Hey man try this; tap & hold, then drag to select midi parts.
thanks for the tour.

just saw your Cubasis vid, would you recommend Logic better even with the subscription?
Definitely! It’s far more advanced… not a fan of the subscription though!!

Just wondering if you have gotten Scaler to work in Logic Pro - iPad?
Can the chord mode be used for melody
Hi do you think its possible to integrate the iPad with a machine plus workflow?
You best translate the operation of Logic Pro on iPad, please more, thanks, ;-)
Does anyone know whether this software could map the midi controllers?
Luv ur videos bro, I got a ? I accidntally uninstalled kontact 7 on Windows. Having trouble finding files in preferenceces and on NA. Got a ticket
What iPad stand are you using? Is it stable enough?
Great video.. Btw.. what mac are you using for the moment? Not the Ipad 😉
Thanks! Using the 16" MBP... I LOVE it.
what about Cubasis?

Fantastic video. Great content, provided clearly with no fluff, and in a workflow approach. Thanks!
Thanks for the tip Lucas!
Still has a long way to go to be perfect. Missing some key elements.

Doesnt let me export mp3
And this is version 1.0. Crazy.
Honestly… super impressed!
🌚🖤🎶
Imagine working on a project on the ipad and then paying 60$ per year forever just to access it.
Actually you don’t as you can stop your subs and access it in normal logic
Stem all your projects in the likelihood you won’t pay for the subscription forever.
