    Hey Trevor, ever since I’ve been studying about these semi hermetic Compressors, I’ve saved a few customers time and money just by taking a few extra minutes of taking apart the compressor. I really love and enjoy these videos. Please keep them coming.

    hello Mr Trevor thank you very much for this video too! I have advanced more in my skills about These semi-hermatic and scroll compressors I have been able to prevent liquid flood back avoid flood starts and avoid overheating many of my customer equipments had a lot of errors in their installations and because of you I am so happy of what am i becoming. thank you! Then could you have covered screw compressors too! could you be having the same video covering screw compressors the same way like in this video! screw compressors for chillers!

      You could have damaged cylinders and piston rings from overheat which is causing blow by. But it could be other things as well. Great question.

    Can the oil pick up tube be accessed with out taking off the bottom plate on a 4D compressor? I just liked/subscribed

    • @RefrigerationMentor
      @RefrigerationMentor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. There is not an oil pickup tube in the 4D compressors it has ports drilled out in the casting to the oil pump. K body compressors have pickup tube and you can sometime get them out without taking the bottom plate off but you have to be careful not to break it.

    • @RefrigerationMentor

    Do you have to drain the oil in order to clean the pickup screen while in the field? I am having low oil pressure issues on 6D compressor

    • @RefrigerationMentor
      @RefrigerationMentor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have always pulled and changed the oil to check, usually the oil was dark in colour anyway but I have friends who isolate the compressor full close suction, discharge and oil line as well as electrical safe the compressor and they put a vac pump on the crankcase. While in a negative pressure they pull it out quickly to check the screen than pull the compressor into a deep vacuum to get out any moisture. I have not tried this myself personally.

    Quick question.
    What does it mean if my net oil pressure is above 60PSID?

    • @RefrigerationMentor
      @RefrigerationMentor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a spring inside the oil pump that will bypass the the oil.

    • @unknownsf0
      @unknownsf0 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RefrigerationMentor Thank you.
      What would cause high net oil pressure? I recently check the net oil pressure and my crankcase psi was 1 and my oil pump psi was 83 - 82PSID

  • @AirsoftColeraine

    Great video. Trying to learn a little more about these. Going to look at one this week. I am getting it tripping on High oil pressure overnight. Any ideas what would be causing that? The compressor is actually low on oil although sight glass is very dirty and cant see for sure. Separator float may be jammed i suspect. Thanks

    • @RefrigerationMentor
      @RefrigerationMentor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What is the oil pump pressures and the crankcase pressure? When it trips?

    • @RefrigerationMentor
      @RefrigerationMentor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Intermittent oil warnings or a lockout is
      possibly a symptom of a plugged oil pickup screen. Symptoms of a plugged oil pickup screen is a return to higher oil pressure after the compressor starts again, followed by lowering
      oil pressure as the run time increases. If these symptoms are observed and other common causes of low oil pressure are ruled out (e.g. refrigerant dilution or low oil level), removal of the oil pickup screen to drain the sump and clean the screen will likely solve the problem.
      If the oil protection system is generating low oil pressure warnings or lockouts but the measured oil pressure is adequate…inspect the screen on the oil pressure sensor for debris.

      @@RefrigerationMentor Oil pump pressure 75psig and crankcase 15psig when at set temp of -12.. on the controller inside it reads “high oil pressure” on the history but I suspect it may mean low or high as it’s only one 1/4” transducer. I am going to replace it to eliminate it. Check oil screen as you say. I may replace the separator as it’s a sealed one as a precaution.
      It is on a Copeland semi running a bread retarder it trips at night intermittent. Thanks again

      @@RefrigerationMentor got it repaired today, oil change, blow by ok, oil pick up screen very dirty and cleaned out, oil was very low when I got there, 700ml drained and 1400ml new in, it’s been working ok, they said they,ve only been using it through the day no overnight programs as it’s for retarding and proving bread. It tripped 2 early mornings previous displaying high oil pressure on the history, no way of checking back what the pressures were unfortunately. I’ll keep you posted you,ve been a great help .
