I ate soy for decades because I was told it was healthy food and I was fighting for bad aches for decades as well. Once I read that soy is actually bad. Not sure why I decided to experiment to cut all soy from my diet . Sure enough, all my acnes were gone , skin is clear like it’s supposed to be. I did food allergy test and the lab result showed I have no allergy to food.
Thank you! I can't imagine living without regularly eating tofu stir fry, adding soy milk to my coffee or snacking on edamame. I've heard a lot of animal eaters spew false information against soy, and appreciate all the information here that confirms the healthiness of this powerful plant food.
Have started eating a lot more tofu since I realized that the reason I didn't care much for it is that restaurants tend to just whack up big chunks of it and throw it in. Once I started preppping my own in smaller cubes and started learning how to season and bake it I really started to like it.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful 🙏 information on soy. My family and I ate soy products for years, then stopped eating it because of the negative information. I didn't have any problems with hot flash during menopause.
This is truthful information for the benefit of humans, unlike some "foundation" I won't mention, paid by the farming lobby, whose only interest is money and don't care who suffers in the process. Thanks for your valuable work, PCRM and Chuck. ❤️
Were you missing the intro? He is the executive director of the Soy Nutrition Institute! Yep, he has no interest for sure. He doesn't get money from big soy. Definitely. Damn... Listening/reading comprehension much?
I decided to start eating tofu and about a couple days of eating it I broke out with tiny pimples all over my face. Didn't link to the tofu. Kept eating it. My period that was regular for years was all of a sudden irregular. I'm sure that someone will say it's something else I did. But all I know is that after I took out the tofu my skin cleared after a week and period went back to normal. Listen to your body. If it works for you great. But not everyone is the same.
@@alaayahia8704 not allergic, intolerant. I can eat something with soy in it once in a while, which I do, and I'm fine. But if I add it to my everyday diet it messes up my hormones. My body does not tolerate it well on a daily basis. That's just how it is.
Same happened to me. I saw a video that talks about soy and they say that the reason is because 99%of the soy they use in products in USA, is not fermented and is not organic.
If I drink regular soy milk or eat tofu ,I have terrible bloating. However , if I eat fermented soy milk or yogurt, miso , tempeh etc. I don’t have any issues.Lots of westerners can’t brake down unfermented soy like Asians.I am surprised they didn’t mention it in the video.Bottom line is I can eat fermented soy without any problems and my body feels great after eating it.
There are so many cancers that are running rapid in children. Infants are given soymilk formulas all the time, a lot of them are allergic to it and there could be some good reasons why.
Human babies are meant to have breastmilk. It is alive and protects them from any disease mom or baby get. Any chemical concoction based on soy or another animal's milk is not going to be the same at all.
Amazing video, and great questions, thanks very much! I think some of the bad rep for soy came from the meat industry which saw soy as a legitimate competition!
Glad i finally listened to this. Been vegetarian for 1 year. I was vegan for a bit and when my baby was 8 months old got pregnant again, so Ive been eating eggs and cheese on occasion (cant help myself!) I'm always nervous about my soy consumption and nervous giving my now 13 month old soy. My intuition tells me its safe but I've always felt conflicted. Thanks ;D
Truth be told, vegan isn't really the best diet, it's very good though. The best diet is the pesco-vegetarian diet. When they looked at the adventists who live in the blue zone in loma linda, the pesco-vegetarians outlived both the vegans and vegetarians. Oily fish like salmon and beans are probably the best proteins on earth for our health. I eat 1 serving of soy per day on average.
If we observe the longevity of the Japanese population the answer becomes self evident. I will never give up my natto, miso, shoyu, tempeh (Indonesia), edamame, tofu ... The list is long 😂 I am not very fond of industrialized soy stuff though.
I love Natto! It’s my favorite version of soy... The first time I ordered it from my local Japanese restaurant, the chef made the server come back and ask me ”do you know what Natto is?”When I said “yes, and I love it” she exclaimed “oh, no white people like Natto!” 😆 🤣 ... now they all know I’m the Natto girl 😋

My hormones have been changing over the past few years. I was just thinking yesterday that I have had absolutely no hot flushes or night sweats. I have been drinking organic soya milk in tea and coffee for years and often eat plain organic soya yoghurt with fruit for breakfast.
All these "doctors" on the internet like Dr. Berg who speak badly about soy, really don't know what they are talking about. Doctors get very little education in nutrition in med school. They cherry pick out a few studies, and ignore 99% of studies showing soy is healthy to consume. My mother in law has hypothyroidism, so I was always a bit concerned about her eating soy foods with me and my wife, since we are vegetarian. Glad to know it's safe for her to consume.
I’d love to see Dr. Barnard brought in as he has had success with reversing endometriosis with the WFPB diet and with soy, also, I believe. If you have another interview with Mark Messina, PhD, I’d be curious to find out if the endometriosis study with soy was to also reject all dairy products. The same goes for breast and prostate cancer. In a fire, you can put out the flames in one room, but if you are starting the fire and won’t stop lighting it up at the same time, what sort of a show of success is that for soy?

GMO soy is mostly fed to animals. I don't know how it is in the States, but in Europe GMO soy isn't processed into human food. I know this is not what you asked, but it might still be helpful.
@@11235Aodh yeah I don’t think that is the case in the states. They are also not required to tell us if it is GMO or not. So as a result some company’s do certify as non GMO which we pay a high price for. I’d like to know if it something we really need to be concerned about.
@@bonniemckee9389 If it were just the GMO, no i don't think so. But the reason why it's geneticly modified is a reason to be concerned about. They make the crops resistant vs. pesticides like glyphosphates (like Monsanto's Roundup) so they can spray a lot of that on the crops without the crops dying.
I miss eating tofu because of the big soy scare. I think it’s so sad that I stopped eating soy products. I love soybeans as a snack. From living in Hawaii in 1971 soy was huge in my diet. Disgusting. Thankyou for this research being brought to light. I have hashimotos and hope adding it back in my diet will help my thyroid malfunction.
Thanks for this video! Trying to find ways to incorporate soy into my diet without adding processed foods and gaining weight, as it contains more fat/serving than I usually prefer to eat.
it wont make you gain weight , unless you eat more calories than your Body needs ...plants are no different , we can just eat higher volume for the amount of calories equal to oil or meat and dairy
I agree with that. There is not enough study related to women who have oestrogen dominance (brought on by high animal products) and the effect of soy on maintaining that dominant state and encouraging fibroid growth even after the women give up dairy and animal products.
I love tofu which I eat almost everyday as part of my meal and of course soya milk. I seldom eat meat. My mens cycle is normal ever since i was young, haven't encountered any issues.
If meat will kill you why is it the only food that matters in survival situations? Watch any tribe in the amazon or even the reality show called Alone. Meat is all that matters for survival.
What do you consider to be good quality? I just need to know what to look out for bcus i think im going to stop avoiding it . Its hard to be vegan without soy .
I am not vegan but I do include natto and non-GMO tofu in my diet. I have never experienced bad effects from eating soy. People who have problems from eating soy are most likely allergic to soy and should avoid eating it.
My 3 year old pretends he is going grocery shopping and he usually just buys tofu. Obviously we have been eating a lot lately. I'm glad It's one food that my picky eater always eats.
I wish the study also included the prevalence of hip and knee replacements in countries who used a lot of dairy products in comparison to women who gave up dairy and replaced it with soy and also women who have lived their whole lives or most of their lives using soy and not dairy products.
9 years estrogen posetive Breast Cancer free this year also 9 years Vegan this year ...eating soy regularly ..Tofu , Tempeh , soy milk , soy curls all delicious
This is SO misunderstood by MDs, including oncologists. Women still think soy products will give them breast cancer, as they were told by doctors years ago that soy promotes breast cancer. Please use some of your efforts to present this information to the segment of the medical community that has a profound influence on health - doctors. Need to also point out that Asian countries have very low incidences of breast cancer with high intakes of soy.
One Japanese study showed an association with non fermented soy products...but its only one study and more research is needed. Most studies show a positive or no association with overall cancer risk. The foods to avoid to reduce pancreatic cancer risk according to the cancer society and health organisations would be red meat, processed meat, alcohol and refined sugar.
I want to eat soy, I actually love tofu but I've been driving myself crazy trying to figure WHY every time I eat a large amount of soy like tofu, my breasts hurt the next day. Every single time! I already already have a begin fibroadenoma so I'm worried breast tumors. I've had issues with excessive estrogen but now I'm perimenopause so my levels are up and down.
What are you putting on the tofu? And is the tofu organic? I can eat tofu, tempeh, soymilk(just soybeans and water) all organic but, soy sauce and miso bother me. I have been eating those other forms of soy for decades. Breast pain is not a symptom of allergies. Caffeine causes breast pain and hormones.
I hadn’t considered the fact that tofu is a processed form of soy. So, is it good for you or bad? It sounds like there isn’t research around this topic. Now I’m confused…
I just recently finished reading The Starch Solution and Dr. McDougall recommends limiting soy, especially soy protein isolate. And yet here, I’m hearing the opposite info from some of his colleagues. Can anyone help me understand this?
Soy protein isolate is where the do a lot of processing to make the soy protein into flakes that has been used in soy protein powders. It is a refined food and something you should stay away from. You can make soy milk at home. It has to be cooked, but it’s doable. You could also make tofu at home but you do need a enzyme to help it coagulate and it’s a bit messy.
The problems with soy I believe start when its used in highly processed forms that are only possible with industrialised means of production. I eat tofu, Tempeh, and edamame the way they've been traditionally produced in Asian countries for centuries, but I avoid all the "westernised" UPFs with hydrolysed soy proteins, refined soybean oils, etc. The book 'Brain Food' touches on this issue, though I can't point to the specific studies. Anyway, the UPFs are the real villain. When soy is used in UPF forms, it will produce negative effects just like how any other ingredient would cause negative effects in UPF forms.
I’ve been using soy since the late ‘70’s when I was in high school, raised 9 kids on soy and now several of my grandkids are drinking soy. We have always been healthy and so are my grandkids. :) Good interview!

I drink organic soy milk too....what's difficult to find these days is frozen organic shelled edamame....I used to be able to find it at one of my nearby Publix ...WOODSTOCK brand but they seem to not carry it anymore.
@@valerietomsic8454 in the UK they have it everywhere. £1.50-£2.00 for a 500g bag of frozen organic shelled. Yutuka brand I think. Also a lot of supermarkets make their own like Morrisons
Great information I really needed to know about soy, because I have thyroid. Thank you so much
Thank you! I can't imagine living without regularly eating tofu stir fry, adding soy milk to my coffee or snacking on edamame. I've heard a lot of animal eaters spew false information against soy, and appreciate all the information here that confirms the healthiness of this powerful plant food.
It is great to have such info... we need to be well informed... and truly helped with my questions 👍
Brilliantly useful information update. Thank you
Have started eating a lot more tofu since I realized that the reason I didn't care much for it is that restaurants tend to just whack up big chunks of it and throw it in. Once I started preppping my own in smaller cubes and started learning how to season and bake it I really started to like it.
Yes!!! I absolutely hate it when they use those big chunks of tofu. The tofu ends up just tasting plain af.
My hot flashes stopped using soy milk. I tested this a few times before coming to that conclusion.
Wow. I just made soy milk again and cultured it into soygurt. Next I'm going to turn it into tofu. So good and so economical.
Exactly! Plants don’t want to be eaten, so that is their defense.
so you are the 1 of the 1000 who is allergic to soy, as all other foods.
Hi, Chuck! I enjoy your shows. 👍
Amazing video, and great questions, thanks very much! I think some of the bad rep for soy came from the meat industry which saw soy as a legitimate competition!
THANK YOU so much for this interview -very informative.
This is brilliant! Thank you.
Awesome! He is so informative 🙌👍
This is a great podcast!
@@missy3240 😂😋
Natto provides one of the most powerful digestive enzymes outside the human form.
To bad every1 isn’t Japanese, with the same hormone levels and body structure, then it would make sense. Like me saying gee wonder why there are high levels of skin cancer in Holland and not in Sudan, people in Sudan have been hanging out in the sun for yrs, then point out the evidence. I wouldn’t be wrong, but we’re not all the same
Why would it be soy and not raw fish ?
Tofu, peas and corn seasoned with Braggs was a staple for our girls growing up...their favorite! Love all the science that makes soy ( we eat our 2.5 servings a day!) such a wonderful source of nutrition! Long time listener! Chuck really appreciate your excellent interview skills and all your 5 star guests!

Hi Sedona, Could you give me the recipe for the Tofu, peas and corn? Thanks
Excellent video
I just read “Eat to Beat Disease “ great information on food
Thanks, Chuck!! Us women appreciate you asking about our health, too!! 🌱💪🏽💚
Glad you did this interview. Thank you. We eat soybeans none GAO. I hoped this Dr. would have addressed that. That is important. I make fries out off tofu in my hot air fryer. They are so good. Organic tofu is the best.
THNX FOR THE TIP! I' DEFINITELY MAKE THAT TODAY MY TOFU WAITING IN THE FRIDGE.

Which Tofu do you use and the recipe please? Thanks!

Before going vegan my cycle was 25 days and now it is 28. Definitely thinking it could be the soy… 🙌
I think I need to up my soy intake then!! Mine is 23 - 25 days.
I have the same problem. I went vegan a month an ago, incorporated tofu and soy milk, and already saw the cycle is a bit longer plus no blood clots. I am excited and going to continue.
After my hot flash has started for 3 weeks or so this year, I started to eat soy products (Tofu, Tempe, Miso etc) every day then after only about a week, hot flash was gone and it has not been back! Unbelievable!
I make organic soy milk, too, with a lovely soy milk machine and it is so delicious in coffee and chia seed pudding. I have been consuming soy since my 30's (now 71) and I had no hot flashes at all. Absolutely love soy!

My hormones have been changing over the past few years. I was just thinking yesterday that I have had absolutely no hot flushes or night sweats. I have been drinking organic soya milk in tea and coffee for years and often eat plain organic soya yoghurt with fruit for breakfast.
why soy milk creating mucus ?
Why doesn’t the US import high quality soy from Japan with its high mineral contents?
All these "doctors" on the internet like Dr. Berg who speak badly about soy, really don't know what they are talking about. Doctors get very little education in nutrition in med school. They cherry pick out a few studies, and ignore 99% of studies showing soy is healthy to consume.
My mother in law has hypothyroidism, so I was always a bit concerned about her eating soy foods with me and my wife, since we are vegetarian. Glad to know it's safe for her to consume.
So many people need to see this
I’d love to see Dr.
WFPB??

I'm wondering if these studies did GMO soy or organic soy and was there a difference because I got a feeling the gmosoy is probably harmful where is the organic so he's probably healthy please let me know thank you I only buy organic soy by the way it's the only soil touch..
What about GMO soy? I would love to know the research related to genetically modified soy. Does it change how it is metabolized at all?
Gmo soy worries me too.
It's not the GMO per se that's harmful, but the higher level of glyfosate in GMO soy. Glyfosate has adverse affects to our gut microbiome.
Great info
I like slices of firm tofu marinated in tamari, then baked...so simple but tasty.
What about it's impact on fibroids? So many women believe that it makes them grow and worsen.
I agree with that. There is not enough study related to women who have oestrogen dominance (brought on by high animal products) and the effect of soy on maintaining that dominant state and encouraging fibroid growth even after the women give up dairy and animal products.
coffee and chocolate is the culprit , it actually increase your own estrogen
I understand that the cause is insulin resistance, stemming from high refined foods diet.
I love tofu which I eat almost everyday as part of my meal and of course soya milk. I seldom eat meat. My mens cycle is normal ever since i was young, haven't encountered any issues.
Where do you get your tofu and these products ??
I eat meat and my cycle still going I'm almost 60 I never eat soy every body is different
Great video! Soy is king 👑. Went vegan 3+ years and increased soy, beans, legumes consumption, no problems at all.
Soy in good quality will give you a boost and vitality- meats will kill you and it makes me laugh how people fear a little Tofu cube lol 😂
@@ms_jadah organic non GMO. Tempeh, edamame, etc
I am not vegan but I do include natto and non-GMO tofu in my diet. I have never experienced bad effects from eating soy. People who have problems from eating soy are most likely allergic to soy and should avoid eating it.

The problem is dairy, dairy is scary!
I just finished a block of tofu... super anabolic
No gmo/ Roundup question?
Thank you for your podcasts! My one concern about soy is that majority of the soy produced may be GMO. Would you recommend taking only organic soy?
Yes go organic
Organic would always be preferable but at least ensure it's non gmo soy. Where I live you can get organic and non organic soy that is non gmo.
I heard soy tufo has allergies please advise, thanks
I would rather trust independent studies on soy, rather than studies by scientists that get paid by soy companies.
What were the studies Dr. Messina referred to about soy and thyroid hormones?
Is there any relationship between consumption of soy and pancreatic cancer?
You may be allergic. Thats your body asking you to please stop. Everyone is different. I would be very concerned if I was you. Use your own judgement.

Hurting breats aren't allergy-symptomes....
Don't consume a large amount!
Now I’m confused…
it's fine; it's just soymilk + acid.
I just recently finished reading The Starch Solution and Dr. McDougall recommends limiting soy, especially soy protein isolate. And yet here, I’m hearing the opposite info from some of his colleagues. Can anyone help me understand this?
I stay away from all of that crap too, I eat WHOLE ORGANIC FOODS. That's real food I can trust. Edamame on occasion.
Soy protein isolate is where the do a lot of processing to make the soy protein into flakes that has been used in soy protein powders. It is a refined food and something you should stay away from. You can make soy milk at home. It has to be cooked, but it’s doable. You could also make tofu at home but you do need a enzyme to help it coagulate and it’s a bit messy.
any difference in white soy beans and black soy beans, both organic?
is soy milk different from soy protien?
I make my own tofu. Taste fresher and better. Just use organic soybean and lemon juice.
I have endometriosis ... so ... should I consume soy or not? Much or a little or doesn't matter, please?
Does it matter if it is GMO or not?
Yes! Organic all the way. GMO soy has glyphosate just like mon organic wheat…scary
♦️Thanks for this information. I feel more comfortable consuming food products containing soy snd tofu.
Tofu and soy milk are my almost everyday thing.
