Don't usually comment but I'm really glad I found this (basically the only video review of this specific model), and I really appreciate all the work and knowledge you put into this review. As someone who sells these, it's really nice to see someone who knows what they're talking about and can break everything down and do the testing that I can't. You're doing great things here, keep it up!

    My adjustments on this monitor:
    Brightness 90%
    Contrast 70%
    R 46
    G 50
B 50 (or 51, depends on your environment)
Gamma 70 (-30 in nvidia control panel)
    Sharpness 1 (preference)
    Response time fastest
    Anti motion off
    Low latency on
Running 144hz over the included displayport cable, and ensured i was 32bit x 10bit on the colour. Also ran windows clear type to ensure text was as crisp as it could be.
With these settings, it looks similar to my previous IPS panel, less grey and washed out than it does from the factory. Their default color sertings were surpringly good, just a touch red heavy, most noticeable on white. Reduce red and bump up blue a knotch and its a solid display for the price. Extremely minor ghosting, virtually non existant. Really good VA panel all things considered.

Was looking at this or the newly released MSI MAG342CQR. I think the CQR difference is 144hz, 4000:1, DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.0., 10bit on CQR vs 8bit on CQRV. 300nits vs 250.
That's just specs wise but in real time usage, is there much of a difference? Considering the cost has dropped attractively for the CQRV.
The current price I've seen for the CQR is $480.
Other monitors I've considered are the Gigabyte G34WQC, AOC CU34G2X,
I've also considered maybe just sticking with a 16:9 traditional 1440p monitor. Good deal on a Dell S3220DGF, or the 32" Gigabyte G32WQC, Viewsonic 32". Basically any 32 high refresh 144.

I guess there is a setting somewhere that may help when I can be bothered to look into it. It's great on my video programme having a much longer timeline helps a lot. Whilst the single pedestal looks good, unless you have the monitor positioned well over a foot (305mm) from the wall the cables are clearly visible, as the pedestal swivels as the monitor is moved, so defeats the object.

@@vattenflaska8 I just received mine and I absolutely love it!
I upgraded from a 24" 144hz TN panel and the decrease from 144hz to 100hz is pretty noticeable on games like CSGO but honestly that's the only game I get above 144fps to take advantage of the high refresh rate. Other games for me generate around 100fps on high so I can live without 144hz on a 1440p 34" screen.
I doubt my current computer can push farther than 144fps on other titles at 1440p and I'm pretty happy with the MSI ultrawide.
If you are patient and play more competitive FPS shooters, then the 144hz is the way to go but if you're more casual I think this monitor ticks off all the boxes at this price range.

Actually, none of those marketing response times are close to the truth and should be ignored while reviewing. For example my super fast IPS LG 27GL850 is marketed at 1 ms, but is closer to 4 or 5, which are still great. Maybe reviewers should just start dropping scores on false marketing and see if that makes any difference in the long run?

I bought this monitor few months ago. Had to send it back because i had a black smeared line after hours of gaming. I still bought the same one and have been enjoying it till now. (Might have been the model i had) If you are looking for a good ultra wide 1440p monitor and a good price then take it. I did see a lot of ghosting when i played a raytracing beta for minecraft, but it is fine in all other games.
I also saw the samsung g5 34 inch with 165hz and 1000r curve for about €490 here. Would have maby bought that one, but can’t be picky with a already great monitor.

Thx for the vid. Btw, I really wanna know that the panel is VA panel with 6 subpixels in one pixel or 3 subpixels in one pixel. Because it matters when we get to see the texts in the screen. And as I know, 6 subpixels seems to bring eye-tiredness more than 3 subpixels. If I get to know it is 3 subpixels, I will definitely give it a go, but I cannot find any info about it. Thanks for the video! I just bought mine. The screen is very pixelated in regular use, also seems to only run up to 50hz not 100hz as promoted by MSI. Do you know how to get up to 100? Maybe the cable that came with the purchase does not support the 100hz of the monitor itself. My review: it is a big screen, but thats it. Don't expect screen quality, because you'll feel like you are back in 2005ish. Per example, if you see the circle around your user icon in the comment section, I do not, well I do, but it is very pixelated, not a circle.
