Dude this was one of the best reviews I've seen. You've covered everything I've wanted to know and plus some. I'm between the MSI Optix MAG342CQR and or AOC CQ27G3Z 27".
Thank you for saying that. We still feel like we have a long way to go in these videos! If you will mostly be gaming via PC then do the MSI for the 21:9 (and its cheaper) but if you plan to do more console vs PC then do the AOC since consoles won't support 21:9!
Of the 34inch ultra wides you have reviewed. Especially toward the more budget end of the spectrum. So this MSI. The Koorui and other similar types. Which has so far bene the best gaming monitor you have reviewed? All other tasks being secondary which would be the best gaming monitor in your opinion Also unless I have missed it none of your tests have mentioned contrast levels?
Fantastic video but I want to know something. Is it better than the Odyssey g5 34 inch ? G5 34 inch has 1000r curve and 165hz RR but its expensive. Like in our india the msi is 390$ whereas the g5 34 inch costs more than 450$. I have heard that Odyssey g5 has not good argonomic design. I just want to buy the msi as its a dream for me from a long time. Msi has thinner bezels, crisp display but don't know about the g5 ? You suggest. Whats yoir opinion ?
Thankyou for the great review of this monitor. I am looking for an ultrawide and cannot decide between this or the HP omen 34c. I am currently using Benqex2780q and the HP is very much identical on Rtings minus the fact it's IPS vs VA. I've not checked if you have reviewed that monitor but currently they are the same price £300 in the UK. What would you recommend? Also is the brightness good on this monitor as mine is roughly 340 nits* and I know the HP is brighter but i care not for HDR etc. As I will be using this side by side with my current monitor I would like it to be as similar as possible.
Great Review but Is the monitor that dull like its showing in the video or is it just because of the camera? becuase it looks kinda dull and not very clear colors
Just bought mag342cqr today. Couple of things I noticed and would like to ask you. * What is the most recommended profile? I do not understand if choosing pro profile cancels the gaming one and vice versa. Pro one seems to disable control over contrast and other settings. * Then, I find the red a bit to bright on this monitor. I always go with warm settings. Is there a way to change this? * 3rd, I also bought it because it was advertised with OSD software, but I cannot find it. All I can find on MSI website for this model is Display Kit which is useless for me. * Last but not least, I bought it to also use PDP as I really need it, but the aspect ratio for each source is weird and cannot set it to full screen. I mean to have half the resolution with 1400 but full screen. Like 1720x1440. It just sits on the middle and is really hard to see anything and work like this. Am I missing something? I know there are a lot of question, but I would really appreciate if you can help me understand if these are the limitations or I am missing something because it sits on my decision to keep it or return it and buy G5 which seems to have the best PDP aspect ratio so far.
Recommended profile varies based on content consumed. No straight forward answer as it is case by case basis only you can decide what looks best. Changing profiles will "cancel the other" if that makes sense. The way to change that is to do your own custom profile and adjust reds/color temp as needed! I am not sure I know what was advertised. OSD as just their built in menu settings? You'd need to contact them for further clarification. In regards to PDP you have limited functionality on the menu so if you can't configure it how you want then you need to change it at the device level. Even then if that is what you did then you might be better off the G5 if PDP is what you are after most!!
I would probably land on the MSI since it will save you a couple of $$ and be good enough for gaming and work! Love LG monitors though and they might get a slight nod in the color accuracy department!
Usually I let price be the deciding factor. Both are so similar you can't make a bad decision. With both being equal I would side with the MSI but that is because I use a lot of MSI products in my pc builds! What one did you end up getting?
It is close! I love IPS colors but I think this would be good enough for you if I had to guess... always buy a monitor with a return policy because somethings you just don't know until you see for yourself!!
Hi Chef! Great review! How would you say this compares to the Sceptre equivalent? this seems way better and the price is too similar. Would this be the one to go with? I'm mostly planning on gaming and also connecting my work pc to it. Also I noticed that the picture by picture mode on this monitor puts the aspect ratio of both sources on 16:9, dinstead of what we've seen in your other reviews where we get a boxy aspect ratio, is this adjustable?
This would be the Sceptre equivalent that we have covered: th-cam.com/video/HAMnQALuYoM/w-d-xo.html I would pick the MSI as I like its colors a little better than Sceptre. In regards to PiP no adjustments that I am aware of! Let me know what you end up getting and how you like it!
