Most people don’t even know who this guy is. It speaks to his passion of playing what he loves rather than playing what would sell. He is truly one of the greatest guitar players in the world.
A wooonderfull, faaantastic lesson from him/ TrueFire!!! Check the TF lesson with a headphone because this P90 Gibson has an awesome sound. Like all the great new music from Luther Dickenson and his Band!!!
I'm not a new guitar player but have been so interested in Blues delta style guitar. I recently picked up a used Resonator and am confused on the different tunings. I want to invest in lessons but want to know what tunings does Luther use and compared to Rev Robert Jones Courses. the open tunings scare me not for what they actually are, but too many tunings may not be good for learning . anyone with suggestions please reach out .Thank you
I've seen this done a lot of ways but the best way is to find someone to learn from and use the tuning they teach in. The most common are open D and open G or tunings based on them. Some teach in standard. Whatever, the key is to learn the technique, slide and string management, touch, right and left hand and palm dampening, the many kinds of tremolo, and the horizontal. That trick that Luther used to dampen strings between two strings that your playing, All that. You can take that foundation to any tuning and at that point you're learning the tuning and not a lot of the rest.

I first saw him in Memphis in the 90s. I’ve watched him become a world class guitar player. I know his whole family. Fine folks! 💙
