    Beats are the best, I know, I've reviewed them at The Verrge. in a in depth comparison we compared the Beats to
    a. A Potato
    b. 7 GB of RAM
    c. Ray Tracing Etch a Sketch
    d. 5 Gallons of Mayo
    In conclusion, the Beats EASILY sounded the best with the Potato coming in a close 2nd. But the Mayo was the most comfortable to put on your head.

    I spent a lot of time with both the Bose and Sony headphones trying to choose between them so I'll just go ahead and write my full hot take on them here. They were hard to choose between at first but after a lot of use the Sonys proved to be far superior.
    Similar:
    -Sound quality and noise canceling were pretty similar between them. The Sony has a slight edge but I wouldn't make any decisions based on that.
    -Also similar is comfort. Both are equally comfortable under normal conditions, but excel in different area. The bose clamps a little more and goes all the way around your ears which is good for keeping them on, but the Sonys lay more flat and don't rely as much on the cups for noise canceling. You can hold them surprisingly far off your ears and still get effective noise canceling making them much better for using over long hair or a beanie if you want to exercise with them without ruining them with sweat.
    -Both headphones are also equally useless with voice assistants. It's probably more Google's fault than anyone but no matter what you do it always somehow forgets that it's already set up and stops what you're listening to lecture you with useless drawn out instructions. Don't buy any of these based on that functionality because it's only good as a demo.
    Bose victories
    -The lack of physical buttons are my biggest complaint with the Sony. Imprecise gestures, brushing against something or even poorly placed long hair can cause you to skip tracks when you didn't want to. They apparently know it's a problem because you can turn off the touchpad and just control it with your phone so why didn't they just use physical buttons to begin with? I'm hoping the next generation fixes that. The Bose has them, they work well and they also have a power toggle switch so you don't have to hold it down for 5 seconds and then put them back on to see if it worked. It's a surprisingly big quality of life difference.
    -The Bose ability to simultaneously connect to two bluetooth devices should go here, but it doesn't really work. If you have it connected to your laptop and your phone (I can't think of any other use for it) and pause one to listen to the other it works if both connections are perfect but if there's a stutter in the connection or a peep of static comes through from the paused device the other connection becomes a stuttering mess. It's not just an occasional problem either, your connection is just always crap when you have two devices connected and it does it automatically so you have to manually disconnect from the other device if you happen to be near two paired devices at once.
    Sony victories
    -Included app: I feel obligated to put the app first because the Bose app triggers me so much. You have to turn your GPS on to use it at all, and if you turn it off while it's open it refuses to work. I would have switched to the Sony's even if they were inferior because of this affront but thankfully they aren't. You don't technically have to use the app to use either one on any device but you will constantly run into pairing issues if you try to go without them. It's oftly suspicious that $300 cutting edge bluetooth devices have this much trouble pairing without their data harvesting app, but at least the Sony app is tolerable.
    -Battery: I don't particularly care that the interface happens to be USB C, but it does allow super fast charging. Not that the Sony's need it, the battery will last for days of heavy use before it needs a quick top up. The Bose battery isn't bad but it feels like a completely different generation of device compared with the Sonys.
    -Max volume: I've always been very careful with my hearing so I typically only use the bottom quarter of the volume bar when I'm using wired headphones, so it came as a shock to me when I found myself regularly maxing out the volume on the Bose QC35s. I used to sometimes wear earplugs under my QC15's to listen to stuff in very loud environments and they were more than up to the task, but if you find yourself listening to a poorly mastered (too quiet) audiobook in even a somewhat loud environment you likely won't be able to compensate enough to make out what's being said. Beyond that it makes me very skeptical of their long term reliability if they're always running at max volume, one of the sets I got was already starting to have problems. The Sonys suffer from no such shortcoming, they don't get as loud as older wired headphones but they're far louder than I've ever needed.
    -I'll mention the NFC here but it's just a gimmick. It's only for pairing and you need the app to make it work anyway so it doesn't really save any time.
    -One other interesting difference that I noticed. If you're using them in a plane, or even just a car in a very hilly area you'll notice that the Sony's do a significantly better job at not making your ears feel full as you change altitudes. I don't know what they're doing differently but it's noticeable.
    Anyway, that's about everything I have to say about them. The Sony headphones are clearly superior in my opinion, hopefully someone actually reads this and gets some useful information from it lol.

    To my ears these 3rd Gen Air pods are more comfortable compared to the newer Pro version with the soft gel tips. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxgl8SzyQoymMu-S3V55Dskg5QJ8xr1yCR That said, compared to the 3rd Gen, I notice these do not stay planted in the ear as well. One design issue I think, is you squeeze the stem and click it twice to advance your songs. On 3rd gen you tap the large speaker. The difference is by grabbing the stem each time, you tend to loosen the bud fit in your ear. Not always, but the bud falls out a few times while running. The old tap to change never had that problem for me. I would not have changed that tap function. That said, the newer Pro version sticks in the ear, almost airtight if you want that. I do not like that Airtight fit. So that's why I'd stay with this version as the best trade off of comfort, use, and overall feel.

Controls are easy after you get used to it, also they didn't show or maybe they didn't know that if you keep your hand over the side of the headphone so your music quiets down and then headphone starts its own mic listening to the outside. Also very quick charging. I charge them for like 10mins and lasts me a day and over. I've used both bose and sony one, they both are good but as they said, sony is bit more comfort, and bose has a but better noise cancelling. Just comes to personal preference after if you prefer techy sony are to go if you prefer simple and easy bose.

    • @Akira-kd6us
      @Akira-kd6us 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ohh dude I disagree 100%. They're far from okay regardless of the price. Shit noise cancelling, cheap material, cheap button(they sound like "ka-ching" and it's uncomfortable), shit ear pads (and deformed because of how it folds), headband is like non existent, literally no swivel(our ears face slightly forward so it needs the swivel), and now the sound, the most important thing. The bass are more pronounced than the mids and highs, but it isn't necessarily bassy. It's just that the mids and highs don't have clarity. ZERO soundstage. Not even worth comparing to Bose and Sony, that's a disrespect towards them.
      Some people say they bought beats for the looks, let's be honest. They don't look good. Those cheap plastics and fake leather shows itself. If someone bought beats and they like it, hey good for you, I think that's great, not trying to be harsh. But I'd hate to see a person buy them without proper research and end with a disappointment, so here, this might help someone.

Still sound wise they never stopped working really well. They were also my first pair of expensive headphones at the time. Yesterday I found some studio 3's for 90$. would you think it's worth it or should I have gone for a used pair of sony or bose ? I only saw those over 250$ (CAD)

If I'm on a tight budget, the little improvement bose and sony has compared to soundpeats is not worth the price gap.
      If you came from studio 1's especially the one that came from monster(apple bought beats and sound quality declined imo), you might find the studio 3 lacking in clarity and overall sound quality.
      But hey, if you liked your purchase, I completely see no problem! We all have different ears and preferences so I respect that, what I said is just my honest opinion. Have a good day!

    Well, you guys have forgotten a few things about the Sonys.
    First, if you live in colder areas in close range to, or even sub zero degrees (Celsius that is) Sony's touch interface DOES NOT work. There are even a few cases when they activate random gestures, but occuring very rare.
    Then it would be great if you would have mentioned the gesture to cover the earcups with your hand, to let the microphone funnel all sounds through the speakers, letting you hear ambient sounds normally. Another thing you can do with Sony's headphones, is that you can set up different noisecancelling profiles, depending if you are walking, waiting, or travelling.
    If you live in colder areas with long cold periods, I would consider going for Bose. I am using the 1000-xm3 daily for 3 months now, recommending them to everyone.

      Sennheiser has IMO the better sound over the 4 they show here, cost the least (particularly my wired PXC 480), noise cancellation is a bit behind the Sony (but I think it’s a trade off between cancellation and quality), Sony and Sennheiser PX550 have the best battery life (Sony with ANC is ~30 hr, PXC 550 up to 30 hr, PXC 480 in “active” mode lasts ~50 hours), Sennheiser’s earcups are more plush, deep, and ergonomic, Sennheiser’s earcups also hinge flat and fold compact.
      I’m grateful to the Sony’s because their noise cancellation saved me from headaches and ringing ears while I was at a very loud (100-102 dB) trade show, but I’ve had the Sennheiser’s longer and I love their sound quality and super battery runtime during long trips.

    Just recently got my pair of Bose QC35II headphones and couldn't be happier.
    During my own research I was struggling to come at any solid conclusion between these and the Sony WH-1000XM3's. It was a very tough call but eventually what drove me into Bose headphones were two things: long use comfort and the ability to be connected to two devices simultaneously.
    While Sony's are technically more advanced and packed with more features (usb-c, quickcharge, better mobile app) and it seemed that many like the more bass oriented sound of those headphones, I also read many comments and reviews from people who have used both, that when you use headphones long consecutive hours at a time, the comfort of Bose's headphones were pretty much always preferred over Sony's. And when I often use headphones through the working hours that was definitely a selling point for me.
    Another reason for me was the ability to listen my music from my personal phone while simultaneously be connected to my work phone and receive calls to that without having to remove my headphones or do any fiddly re-pair with my work phone and vice versa. Now it automatically pauses the music when I receive a call to my work phone and it seamlessly switches back to my personal phone after the phone call has ended and continues with the music. This may not be important to you but for me this is perfect.
    Third reason - while I didn't take it as a concern for me personally since I quite rarely use headphones outdoors - were the multiple reports of Sony's touch controls going haywire in cold temperatures. Meaning if you are outgoing person and live somewhere cold (e.g. Canada or Finland like I do) you cannot use your Sony headphones in near 0ºC temperatures or colder. Apparently Sony has admitted this issue and as far as I know they have no solution to it. Of course, your mileage may vary but that's definitely something to keep in mind when making decisions.
    Hopefully this can help someone else's decision making process.
    Cheers!

    • @oprime
      @oprime 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm wondering if the cold and/or moisture is causing the shorting of the touch controls?
      At least normal over-ear headphones can act sort of like earmuffs during the cold weather AND give you something enjoyable to listen to (if you're using Bose or anyone else, I guess?) In-ear headphones will do little to keep your ears warm during the cold or windy days. :)
      I personally own a pair of Bose noise canceling headphones that I had bought for a long plane trip and I'll tell you this, it made the trip so MUCH more enjoyable. Normal headphones just can't cut it in an airplane if you're trying to listen to music or watch something on your phone/tablet as far as ease of listening and long term listening. Just never use them when you're at the Doctor's office or you might not hear your name called! LOL!

    • @tokeeptrackofrandomsubs5899
      @tokeeptrackofrandomsubs5899 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've used the older Sony MDR-1000X for quite a few years now and can't say I've noticed the issues due to the cold. It doesn't get that cold here often but there were a couple of weeks in the 0C to -5 C range (with a couple days close to -10C) during which I've had 0 issues due to cold alone, I can only assume the WH-1000XM3 are similar.
      One big potential outdoor issue to be aware of is rain and wet hoods of jackets. Wet hoods can trigger the capacitive sensor giving random inputs that are... quite inconvenient, but since I don't tend to walk long distances in the rain I consider it a non-issue in my use case (it also really seems to vary with how much this happens between my summer and winter jacket).
      I personally don't have a need for two connected devices at the same time of the Bose, but I must admit that it's a great feature to have. I've had a chance to borrow one for 3 days and get a feel for it, ended up with a slight preference for the Sony sound and a strong preference for its touch controls. But either pair of headphones would easily be good enough, what it comes down to is personal preference of the controls and if the two connected devices has a use case or not.

    • @Excalibugi
      @Excalibugi 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@tokeeptrackofrandomsubs5899 What I've read so far is, that the cold weather problem is only with the newest XM3's. Older ones, the 1000X and 1000XM2 seems to be unaffected (moisture is a whole another matter). It seems that Sony did something differently on their newest model and that hasn't worked out perfectly. I have no idea about their testing procedures but hopefully they learn from this and test the next ones more thoroughly.
      Glad to hear that you are happy with your headphones though! :)
      And I agree that a lot of it is down to personal preference.

    I’ve had my Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones for 1.5 years now. I considered the Bose, Beats, and MS headphones before I got them and the Sony’s were the only ones that had all the features I wanted. I’m so happy with them. They’re very comfortable, still the best noise canceling available, excellent sound quality, they’ve held up after using them almost everyday, and I really like the combination of touch and physical buttons (but that’s personal preference). If I got a new pair today I would still go with Sony. My wife has the new Bose 700 headphones and those are a close second but I just feel they are not as comfortable for long gaming sessions for example. IMO you can’t go wrong with either the Sony WH-100XM3 or the Bose 700.

Clarity and bass are both better on the Sony by leaps and bounds. Weirdly though it's very hard to tell the difference on the demo units in the store - probably the sample they play is crap.
