Rather than chop away the wheel well liner you can heat and re-shape it with a hot air gun. The plastic is a thermoplastic and so easy to mould when hot. I made a wood former block and simply heated till quite soft and then reshape around wood former,in sections. Done well it's possible to make look factory.
Anthony Giron why not? Did for me. The plastic was marked as HDPE which stands to reason- tough and flexible but easy to mould with reasonable heat. I have plastic welded repairs to them with no problems. This leads to the possibility of making a modified one by welding two different ones together? Another option would be to cut and widen just like a metal panel but not tried this yet but will give it a go if the need arises. The brilliant thing with these plastics is they are even easier to rework than metal.. grab a scrap one and have a go, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I have also heat formed louvres and ducts into plastic front panels. Gives a great and unique look. Can look factory if done right and confuses a lot of people!
Now that you own the garage, you can always rework part of the roof into a cathedral-like setup... that will net you at least 3~4 feet. Probably only have to rework 3 or 4 trusses. As far as the lift, get a 4-post if you want the ability to open the doors without the post in the way... then you have the ability to adjust suspension with the weight of the car on it. Of course, there are pros and cons to both 2 and 4 post lifts... so get one of each! ;-)
Well, the Fitment you managed to get with this kit actually looks way better then the promo pictures from the manufacturer that you showed(especially the black one @15:28 looked shockingly bad), so I'd say well done.
All I have to say is that I’m glad to see your making strides on your channel And that your growing up and doing builds in a timely manor and not cramming a lot of crap in 1 Episode, looking more professional everyday So happy that you have your own shop now
Despite TJ Hunts negative qualities, USE A TRICK HE SHOWED - Use weather stripping in between the kit and body panels! It helps with sealing the kit to prevent debris dirt etc getting in between Edit: looks like you read the comments about weather stripping GJ
Impressive work Chris, I'd be more than a lot afraid to cut into someone else's newish car like that. If people don't like seeing a car cut then they should go buy a car and not cut it up. Now that the shop is yours you can finally install insulation, drywall and heater; bonus of that is that drywall would help lighting a ton!
Use rubber edging trim for the metal wheel arches you cut, the sort you get under engine bays to edge off sharp metal or plastic where contact is made, you can buy it in strips in all sizes, i use that and body panel glue to seal the edge of arch, it also protects the Tyre if any contact is made on suspension compression.
I would do it different: Cut a little less (maybe 5mm) than desired, than fold the excess to form a lip on the edge, like the original fender. Would need to be repainted, but will keep the rigidity of the fender, and be a more OEM finish.
Still my favorite youtuber :) I feel the same way you do about being able to freely express yourself through your car. It's not our place to judge what someone does to theirs!
I love this because this is the same kit I was planning to put on my 14 and that's now going on my 19. It's the only actual widebody that I've found for the newer years that isnt just flairs. After watching the first vid... I'm not 100% sure now 🤣
B is for build, spring fest is tomorrow (the 4th) up at the wild waves theme park, parking lot and a bunch of us are driving up tomorrow morning around 8 and meeting in Vancouver. You should go ;)
The spacing at the bottom of the flair is so that you can mount it with double sided mounting "tape". This would mount it solidly and pull it flush with the rocker
Love the color of the car! Hope he gets those painted, I mean it’s not like you could have done that for him too and had more video content. It’s not like we don’t enjoy watching you paint.
I like these episodes!! i really enjoy when you take a break and work on other peoples cars! it was fresh and neat even tho weve seen 1000 widebodys by you. Keep it up, really enjoyed the vid!
Drill first two holes hold the parts together with Cleco fasteners and then drill the rest of the parts, get two screws in then remove the reusable Cleco rivets ;-)
If they're offering a free lift I would Take it! It will be seriously handy to drop a drivetrain. Just lower it to the ground and lift the car off. Just be wary that a 2 post will need a certain thickness of concrete to bolt to.
Have you ever considered getting a 3d printer to make custom spacers/adapters/brackets for your builds? Ive used mine to make alignment jigs for parts on my car, and even made a gauge cluster for a friends 240.
I would like you to make an addition. "Everyone has the right to do whatever they want to their own car as long as it doesn't endager other road users"
I love bendpak's stuff and am going to be ordering a QuickJack kit, but you may want to check out the MaxJax 2-Post Vehicle Lift if you want something that can be rolled out of the way when you don't need it. I'd have that as well if I owned rather than rented.
Does that CF vent is actually'operative'or just for looks..??..I hate fake or useless vents or scoops, just like on Chargers or mustangs(Fastback 1965) on the Fastback, you can make them use full for cooling large rear brakes for example,Anyway, good luck for the kit, greets from France, and don't forget that BMW V10 BUILD......!!!!!
Hey Chris, just an idea... ChrisFix does tool reviews and puts affiliate links in the description. He also does the same with whatever he uses in the video (i.e. those lifts would be great to advertise at 5% per sale...).
If you had the opportunity, would you get an NSX as a project car? I think that'd be awesome. I really enjoy your videos by the way, and it has been an awesome journey watching this channel grow into what is today. Between you and TJ, you guys have really inspired me as an enthusiast, going deeper into the mechanics of cars, thank you.
Makes me so nervous seeing you pre drill and rivet in my experience with jacketing 90degree insulation jackets it's best that after you got your first two drill holes to then do one at a time otherwise at the end usually has move 8th to half an inch different then you thought. But glad your seem to have come out well.
you definitely need to clean up the shop, give it the love it deserves teespring seem to be pretty good. i know they ship to nz so they must ship elsewhere.
just a thought. wuldnt it be possible to buy a second fender liner and cut them both around the center of the wheel and plastic-weld (or glue) them together to make a wider liner that meets the kit sorta close. worth a test.
You probably won't see this since this video is old but man I've been watching your videos for years since the first brz and I just saw this car in person at a local car meet in Georgia "blue" me away I had no idea it was the same car
Widebody the shop

Andrew Wilson ^^this^^
thanks for the tip
" Done well ......" I'm guessing you're new around here ;)

Why would that not work bud?
in all seriousness, id really like to see a shop build!
yes i would love to see walls and shiny new flooring in the shop :D
I just want to see it cleaned, the over spray is literally on everything from when he paints
I was looking forward to cleaning up the shop :[
zee same haha
Shouldn't you put some primer or paint on the metal that you cut from on the car? Gonna turn to rust one day...
I would. All those holes, even with the rubber, will start rusting.
Darkside1355 remind me not to buy a car from you
He said the car is going to get professionaly painted.
Arent the fenders aluminum?
Dude's not done yet...
I thought I recognized that car! TH-cam collabs are the shit
JLA Garage iiiiiiii

Revive The True ///M i wouldn’t say it was his, he uses it but thats been an industry option for years.
Tom Y fixed*

Jeezuz I would never put something on my car that would require me to hack body panels...... Impressed with your work Chris

Great work man. You have a great attention to detail. Keep up the great work.
I love this because this is the same kit I was planning to put on my 14 and that's now going on my 19. It's the only actual widebody that I've found for the newer years that isnt just flairs.
After watching the first vid... I'm not 100% sure now 🤣
I’m here from My wrx channel for the sti wide body install 😁
I love B is for Build but can we get some mad props for this guy that gave Chris his brand new car to cut into and install this kit? Brave man haha.
B is for build, spring fest is tomorrow (the 4th) up at the wild waves theme park, parking lot and a bunch of us are driving up tomorrow morning around 8 and meeting in Vancouver. You should go ;)
Good work on the ride, but as for the bend pac lift.... pour a small concrete pad outside, install an outside lift for warmer days! lol. peace!!!
lmao. Chris going on vacation then coming back to see a random car on his lift.
+Nstg8a ,could always add a carport later. lol.
His shop is outside Portland. 295 days of rain a year. It would cost some but modifying the trusses to stick built would give him the clearance.
The spacing at the bottom of the flair is so that you can mount it with double sided mounting "tape". This would mount it solidly and pull it flush with the rocker
B is for "but officer the electrical tape was just sitting there. I didn't steal it".
Love the color of the car! Hope he gets those painted, I mean it’s not like you could have done that for him too and had more video content. It’s not like we don’t enjoy watching you paint.
Nice job man, you made that kit fit better than the reference photo's from the manufacturer.
I'm not going to lie. I LOVE THAT BLUE! I want one.
That rubber fitting behind the bolt is the best!
Now, That's a bad ass STI, You should build one. You won't regret it!
Two of my favorite channels
I like these episodes!! i really enjoy when you take a break and work on other peoples cars! it was fresh and neat even tho weve seen 1000 widebodys by you. Keep it up, really enjoyed the vid!
Tj hunt take some notes lol
Eddy R for real 😂😂 like I like tj hunt and all and I’m not trying to throw shade but his cuts are so good!
I unsubscribed to TJ because he was cutting the BRZ Panels 😢
Drill first two holes hold the parts together with Cleco fasteners and then drill the rest of the parts, get two screws in then remove the reusable Cleco rivets ;-)
Wow awesome, i'm gonna do this to my car next!
Wanna buy my joying android radio for cheap?
FINE I WONT
why???
Use 3m double sided tape for the overfender/sideskirt. Should be close to 1/8th inch thick and fix that gap along with securing it.
Oh my...I remember the first time I drilled into my car, it was stressful. Nice Work!
If they're offering a free lift I would Take it! It will be seriously handy to drop a drivetrain. Just lower it to the ground and lift the car off. Just be wary that a 2 post will need a certain thickness of concrete to bolt to.
I really like what you did with the grommets. Looks really clean.
Bolt-on fender flares: The new tribal window stickers and neon underglow.
turning into a legit workshop now, awesome!
Dude I just saw you on T.V. On the Velocity channel. It was the BRZ build 👍
the last part where you told people to FUCK off if they don't like what someone decides to do with their own GODDAMN car.... BEAUTIFULLY SAID.
2:20 “start breaking everything down from a fundamental standpoint” -Kent Murphy
I'm a Honda owner and even I'd never put that amount of stickers on my vehicle. Subaru owners are truly something else.
B is for Bape!!! let’s get it boys we got some Rumble in the Shop 😉
kustomkat is a great print to ship company and that way you will never run out of stock and you can expand your merch
Have you ever considered getting a 3d printer to make custom spacers/adapters/brackets for your builds? Ive used mine to make alignment jigs for parts on my car, and even made a gauge cluster for a friends 240.
DOING A BETTER JOB THAN MOST SHOPS.
Oh WOWW, best color by far. Hooray hyper blue.
I would like you to make an addition. "Everyone has the right to do whatever they want to their own car as long as it doesn't endager other road users"
dig the floor out and add a slanted drive way.
add a thin drain across the front of the door for rain
Man ive been watching your videos for yeeeeaars now, i live in salem, im so excited for the day i meet you!! Love your videos!
as an STI owner, not a fan of wide bodys. that being said , i appreciate the build, and would like to see it painted.
Can't wait to see the shop get a remodel
This is brilliant!!! Keep the amazing fresh content coming mate :) Didn't see this one coming!
I think that the rubber mounting nuts are called well nuts - at least that is what we call them here in New Zealand....
This guy deserve 1 million subscribers faaaaaaast!!!
Chris, what are the rubber grommets/rivets called? A brand or link would be great please! Thanks.
Just use flexible plastic garden edging with some silicone and rivets for the waterproofing. It's cheap and available almost everywhere.
Falling in love with your channel. You deserve every positive thing coming. Good luck man :)
You can always use a heather gun to form weatherproofing to new shape.
I love bendpak's stuff and am going to be ordering a QuickJack kit, but you may want to check out the MaxJax 2-Post Vehicle Lift if you want something that can be rolled out of the way when you don't need it. I'd have that as well if I owned rather than rented.

watching shrouds stream and working on the car, nice multitasking
How much room do you have to expand the shop? You should make a vid walking around the property!
Hey Chris, just an idea... ChrisFix does tool reviews and puts affiliate links in the description. He also does the same with whatever he uses in the video (i.e. those lifts would be great to advertise at 5% per sale...).
That is the cleanest cut
Such a clean work, I always learn something new in this Chanel god bless you men
The rubber pieces are "nut Certs" we use them a lot for armor on jeeps.
The weather liner extension can be made of kydex cut and shaped with heat gun to fit. .
I understand what you said at the end, but I feel like a future episode could be 'This time we fix an STI that someone ruined with a widebody kit'
Picked up the TJ syndrome, widebody everything
I only have one thing to say : just beautifull
Would you ever give us a tool overview/tour? And if we can't get everything you have, maybe which tools you use 80% of the time you're working?
Lol i liked it when he said there is no going back know this babey is choped up
Those rubber nuts you used to attach are called well nuts
Makes me so nervous seeing you pre drill and rivet in my experience with jacketing 90degree insulation jackets it's best that after you got your first two drill holes to then do one at a time otherwise at the end usually has move 8th to half an inch different then you thought. But glad your seem to have come out well.
Damn I really got excited when you said you were cleaning the shop lol
you definitely need to clean up the shop, give it the love it deserves
teespring seem to be pretty good. i know they ship to nz so they must ship elsewhere.
You had as much progress in one day on this widebody as Calvin had on his brz in several months.
just a thought. wuldnt it be possible to buy a second fender liner and cut them both around the center of the wheel and plastic-weld (or glue) them together to make a wider liner that meets the kit sorta close. worth a test.
I like the kit so far , let’s see what the rear looks like
Kasey has a sick sti!!
slam the shop and put it on tarmacs
I see you have Chelsea working off the BMW in sweat equity. That moment you realize you just sold your soul to the devil, lol.
Amen brother!!! Your money ur car. Do what you want.
You probably won't see this since this video is old but man I've been watching your videos for years since the first brz and I just saw this car in person at a local car meet in Georgia "blue" me away I had no idea it was the same car
You’re on Rev’d Up on Velocity channel! Sweet!
B is for body mods 👌🏼
Tj needs to see this, it aint that complicated:Ddd
This car is awesome!
No fn way!!!!! This collab is amazing!!!!
little rubber things are cool rivnuts are the metal version with actual threads
I love it !!
That Sti will be a rust bucket in 2 years with all those holes drilled in the body work- especially a Washington (rain ) exposed vehicle... Good luck
That car will look sick when it's done
put that car lift(main 2post one they offered) outside, outdoor lifts work great (if weather is good in that area)
Hey B is for Build on the t-shirts company thing, you should try the company Forged From Freedom. He is a Tshirt making guy. Cool builds!!
yesssssssss! Subarus are bae
Great video mate liking the wide body kit
