Because I recognize that "Pile-Of-Cursed-Bones" anywhere: Captain Jolly Roger. I was only wondering because I played Pirates of the Caribbean Online many times before they canceled its use.
Thank for this very informative history of the timeline of Pirates of the Caribbean. I love the films especially the Gore Verbinski pirate trilogy. I love the ride and a good time on it. Captain Jack Sparrow became legend into all of us. These films will live forever same with Jack. Remember it's a Pirates life for me savvy!
Aye, a Pirate’s life for me! I’m very glad you enjoyed the video. That trilogy is one of the most underrated stories ever told, and Gore Verbinski deserves more attention by mainstream audiences. Drink up me hearties, yo ho!
Jone’s imortality was a gift and not a curse however his heart being his one weakness was a curse so with all the curses being lifted he is once more imortal and has no weaknesses
His heart was the only thing that could kill him. He is now dead. He was in the Sea of the Damned in Sea of Thieves time. If he was still alive he would’ve stayed in the land of the living and never been able to follow Jack into the Sea of Thieves.
Totally tracks. Jones curse wasn't originally a curse. It was part of the natural order of things. Kinda like an embodiment of the grim reaper. But for the sea, Honestly you could push that further and say he was akin to the boatman of the river Styx, Not a malevolent force. Merely a necessity. The "curse" part of his curse was the inability to set foot on land for ten years. To be bound to the Dutchman, that's the same curse that Will received for striking the heart. For what we see purely in the films. We assume he died. But he wasn't really a man anymore. You can't kill the grim reaper. It's more accurate to say he was supplanted in his role by Will. We don't know he died, for all we know the now uncursed Jones merely tumbled off the deck of the Dutchman and spent 20 odd years being tortured by Calipso. A being we know can resurrect the dead. Ie Hector. So if all that tracks. The second the Dutchman's curse was broken. Will is no longer supplanting Jones, but as the movies state "The Dutchman must always have a captain" No one supplanted Will, there was no one to supplant him, the curse doesn't exist anymore. Yet the role remains. Not the curse. Thus, Jones becomes the Captain again. It's even pointed out in the movies with Jack. "Just because you didn't own the ship, didn't mean you were captain for 13 years"
Will would still be the captain, he is just not bound to the ship anymore. There is no reason for Jones to be the captain either because he has nothing to do with the dutchman anymore because as you said Will overtook the curse. So the only logical reasoning is that either Will is the captain or that no one is (contradicting "The dutchman must always have a captain" but that quote could be in regards to the curse of someone being bound to the captain since that always was the assumption since no one would expect the curse to ever be broken.

Well, now I know where the story of the ride fits into the timeline. I've been trying to figure that out for years! I just always assumed it was a prequel to Curse of the Black Pearl but I guess I was wrong!
I haven’t finished the video yet but so far I’m really enjoying it. Just a heads up though boss, Davy Jones became Captain of the Flying Dutchmen some ten years prior during the time when a young Jack Sparrow served aboard many ships specifically the Wicked Wench which would later become the Black Pearl. The young adventures of Jack Sparrow tells a short tale about how he and his crew were going after Fitzwilliam’s watch, an item that can stop time. Davy Jones was also in pursuit of this magical relic and it can be assumed that not only was he a pirate lord within the first brethren court it was also during this time that he helped them bind Calypso to her human form aka Tia Dalma. When he failed to retrieve the watch his form became corrupted as stated in Pirates 3 for not ferrying souls to the next world including breaking the rule to not step on land for at least a decade. Years later Jack loses the Wicked Wench to the Cutler Beckett and the East India trading company in retaliation for his betrayal. It’s also worth mentioning that the books and comics aren’t actually cannon.
The only weird thing about all of this, is that there’s no mention of the Dutch East India Company which was arguably way bigger and more important than the British EIC. And I don’t mean personally by you as TH-camr and writer of this video but from the writers of the POTC which would make it historically way more realistic. But what do I care, it’s a movie franchise haha. Really nice video tho.

It wasn't Flameheart junior, but he is connected to the man that resurrected Davy Jones. The man who resurrected Davy is the same man who gave Flameheart junior the skeleton curse
Man, when you went into Jack's history with Beckett, I genuinely had to wonder if I missed that or not. I just rewatched the trilogy, and I always wondered what was the relationship between the two, with the only hint I could find being Beckett's line "we both have left marks on each other", and I was able to catch the brand on Jack's arm. Did I miss something, or is it written somewhere else? Edit: ok, just rewatched the clip of them talking, and Beckett also mentions "you and I are no stranger to betrayals".
Actually, it’s mostly shown through the deleted scenes. During the negotiation scene in At World’s End, while Barbossa, Sao Feng, Elizabeth, and Will are bickering, Jack and Beckett go over their history. “I contracted you to deliver cargo on my behalf. You chose to liberate it.” “People aren’t cargo, mate.” And in the expanded universe some books go into more detail on this too
@@TheSEAempire YES 👏🏽 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽In other words Captain Jack Sparrow was totally against SLAVERY. Beckett was so enraged by the “perceived” betrayal of Jack by freeing the slaves that he branded him with a “P” for Pirate. I feel as though there may be a deeper story behind this. Where they friends, longtime business partners…?
Love the video! Love all the context and confirmations of fan theories! My only question is is Pirates of the Caribbean Online canon? By this time line I can see Jack and the crew having a side adventure between Curse and Chest where they fought Jolly Roger!
I think it’s a little funny how you didn’t explain Wanda/The masked stranger and duke and the dark brethren after a pirates life but then again it would get to be more of a sea of thieves timeline than pirates
Not sure if you're aware, but there may be more details for your timeline: On October 31, 2007 Disney released the video game Pirates of the Caribbean Online. It was an MMORPG with many characters and story elements from the movies. The basic premise of the game is that Cutler Beckett and the EITC have captured the Black Pearl and Jack needs your help to gather a crew and steal the Pearl back. Disney closed the game down on September 19, 2013, although it does still exist today under a different name, maintained by diehard fans. Because it included Jack, Elisabeth, Will, Barbossa, Tia Dalma and Gibbs, as well as some music from the original movie, it was highly engrossing for hardcore fans of the movies. It included Port Royal (with Fort Charles), Tortuga and Rum Runner's from the movies, and other real and imagined islands in the Caribbean. I'm not sure where that game would fit in your timeline, but the fact that Cutler Beckett is mentioned multiple times (being referred to as alive), and members of Davy Jones' cursed crew (although not Davy himself) are present in the game, that might help.
Some more sea of thieves context with the GMU is the developers wanted to call it the East India trading company but someone else bought the trademark for it. So in my head cannon the GMU is the EITC
Sao Feng only made Elizabeth captain & pirate lord because he still thought her to be Calypso; so he dies believing that he gave captainship to Calypso. In other words it was more dumb luck than chance that made Elizabeth Swan captain and pirate lord(sort of like it was by dumb luck that Willow defeats the wicked witch of a queen in "Willow"). Just thought I give a little heads up; That's all.
Three things, One: great video, I don't want to come off as not liking the video because of these things but it was really a great video. Two: about Jack not going through with bringing the slaves thus leading to Lord Becket to sink the ship and brand him as a pirate seems a bit out of character as well as him leaving the pirate life to become a member of the Indian trading company, I don't know if that's just me or something can you please explain it a bit more? Three: I noticed you didn't mentioned Calypso giving Jack the compass, I'm going to assume that you did that because of the Dead Man Tell No Tales retcon but I'm not entirely sure. please let me know if I'm wrong and again great video.
Funny enough my next video is exactly about the history of Cutler Beckett, and it will go into detail about Jack losing his ship. As for the compass bit, yeah I kept that out since we really don’t have a true canonical answer… I really wish DMTNT didn’t try and retcon that.
By chance you have the bibliographie? i would like to learn more specialy the firt and secon brethern court and the adventures of young jack, basicly all that doesnt happends in the movies including all that happends after and before the movies, Thank you
There are various books out there that do cover some bits of information, but nothing too extensive or that go into full detail. If you want a good site for information, the POTC wiki is a great starting point 👍
Upon rewatching dead man’s chest I had a question regarding jacks morals. In the price of freedom Jack turns outlaw upon being asked to transport slaves, he also makes a jibe at Beckett saying people aren’t cargo. So we’re supposed to believe that Jack was even considering selling 100 souls to the Flying Dutchman? He attempted it too had Elizabeth not showed up to make his compass functional he would have done it.
I believe you got a most of the information from Merfolk's lullaby? they haven't updated the timeline for a few months, as they are still reading through the heart of fire novel (so they don't have any of the following in their timeline: a hunters cry, the heart of fire novel, the sirens prize, herald of the flame, return of the damned, or season 8) Cant wait for this video to get remade with the new info abt the ancients and present times in about 4 years 💀💀💀 the sirens prize released before this video was posted though, which included lore drops about how the ancients travelled to the sea of the damned, or as the called it, the sea of tribute. also Mercia is a woman...
Will you make an updated version with the inclusion of Monkey Island because it is canon because of the Sea of Thieves Legend of Monkey Island tall tale?
It isn't technically the same universe. While Monkey Island is literally in the same world as SoT, it was made very clear that Jack bridged from one universe to another, which means he's still seperate
Pirate Lord: and remember it's not about the gold it's about the glory. Davy Jones: do you fear death life is cruel don't you think the afterlife will be any different. :Captain Jack sparrow: savvy. Mr Gibbs and Captain Jack sparrow: take all of it and don't give it back. Lord Beckett: it's nothing personal Jack it's just good business. Elizabeth Swann: what is the colours!!!!!. Will Turner: my father was not a pirate. Also to everyone "dead man tells no tales"
Which curse do you all think is worse; the cursed treasure of Cortes (unable to feel and unable to taste food or drink and starving to undeath over and over) or the curse of Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman {Unable to touch land for ten years between voyages of ferrying souls and punishing the dying spirits or become so far gone as part of the ship you lose the sense of who you are as a crewman}?
there is some missinfo : jack sells the wench and then is name captain of by becket he is taking to pistols shot and is left to die on the burning wench and then calls davy jones minus this, excelent video
I was wondering if you can make a video of a Whiddett pirates of the Caribbean series maybe that sounds like what is this character than die or win if this didn’t happen or what is this did happen
Dead men tell no tales was a big disappointment! They broke story on everything from how Jack got his compass to Will being cursed instead of ferrying the dead like he was suppose to!
He was one of the pirates on the Black Pearl crew who mutinied against Jack and took the cursed medallions, the same one seen with Will in the opening of the film. They need to repay the blood dept, so they need Bootstrap’s blood, since the rest have paid their debt.
I am guessing that the pocket universe might be the dimensional split of the main timeline; disconnected but drawn by the pre-golden past of the first pirate brethren court. How would I know that? It is just a guess.
Preeeetty much, yeah. Makes sense though. Pirate fiction eclipsed real pirate historical knowledge, and by the 50’s and 60’s with a bunch of pirate media, it pretty much set in stone that the real history was lost.
The books are in a weird state of semi-canon. Personally I have not read all of the POTC books (though I would love to someday), but unless something contradicts them, I would say they should be considered canon.
I always wonder about whose curse is worse and I do not understand why no one else ever thought of asking that question before? If they have at all, then that must've been in chatroom sites which I am never subscribing to; I barely remember more than half of my old friends anymore anyway and there is always the high risk going on with chat rooms that might run afoul with hackers who would try to steal my identity and get me in trouble with any one of those sites.
@@Pyromaniax yes but after the pirates life tall tales, Jack goes home. So while it would be a good video idea to make more SoT history, it doesn't need to be tied in to PotC
Did you know that Davy jones his real name was Willem van der Decken he was dutch (in real life) but in the Pirates of the Caribbean he was Scottish but the curse of Davy jones is also Dutch the Flying Dutchman was a VOC ship so that was also a Dutch ship you can see it in his name (the flying DUTCHMAN) but a nice video tho but I just wanted to share the info

When faced with an inescapable and total death/punishment for eternity, I could see Jack betraying his morals a bit.
I am guessing that Blackbeard's sword that we see him wield in "POTC: On Stranger Tides" was the same sword owned by Cortes?
dude im gonna be honest im kinda disappointed you didnt explain the rest of the timeline. its a lot more in depth than this
I believe you got a most of the information from Merfolk's lullaby? they haven't updated the timeline for a few months, as they are still reading through the heart of fire novel (so they don't have any of the following in their timeline: a hunters cry, the heart of fire novel, the sirens prize, herald of the flame, return of the damned, or season 8)
Cant wait for this video to get remade with the new info abt the ancients and present times in about 4 years 💀💀💀 the sirens prize released before this video was posted though, which included lore drops about how the ancients travelled to the sea of the damned, or as the called it, the sea of tribute. also Mercia is a woman...
Awesome video! Thank you. ❤️ 😊
Pls clear this- was Jack Sparrow born in 1690 or 1690s?
Why does this only have 100 likes
Will you make an updated version with the inclusion of Monkey Island because it is canon because of the Sea of Thieves Legend of Monkey Island tall tale?
Come on you forgot to thank Jerry bruckheimer who was the one who put it together.
Very true! One of the best producers in the industry!
Smh I was just waiting for the Jean Laufitte jumpscare. 😅
Pirates of the Caribbean existing in the same universe as Monkey Island through SoT seems so odd
It isn't technically the same universe. While Monkey Island is literally in the same world as SoT, it was made very clear that Jack bridged from one universe to another, which means he's still seperate
@@flap.d.jack247 ah okay
Finally
The curse of Cortes isn't as bad because it's much easier to cure
@@flap.d.jack247; Which part of the "Dutchman" curse do you think is worse, the Davy Jones part or the Crew service part of the curse?
there is some missinfo : jack sells the wench and then is name captain of by becket
he is taking to pistols shot and is left to die on the burning wench and then calls davy jones
minus this, excelent video
Missing the whole Neptune and his trident arc or the sword of Triton!
I was wondering if you can make a video of a Whiddett pirates of the Caribbean series maybe that sounds like what is this character than die or win if this didn’t happen or what is this did happen
Great timeline and video
Subbed. Dope video man
Dead men tell no tales was a big disappointment! They broke story on everything from how Jack got his compass to Will being cursed instead of ferrying the dead like he was suppose to!
i love you for this
And I love you for watching! 😎
I Love Weddings!! Drinks All Around!!
45:17 You forgot Bill Nighy.
That I did 😔
So canonically Sea of Thieves is basically Pirates of the Caribbean: Sea of Thieves (PotC 6)
If we get a miracle and get a 6 PotC movie with Johnny Depp, I really hope the SoT gets referenced.
hey can we be pirates of the carribean fan buds
Was there ever an explanation as to why bootstrap bills blood was so special that it would break the curse? Seems super random
He was one of the pirates on the Black Pearl crew who mutinied against Jack and took the cursed medallions, the same one seen with Will in the opening of the film. They need to repay the blood dept, so they need Bootstrap’s blood, since the rest have paid their debt.
@@TheSEAempire ohh ok thanks. That makes sense now
No worries!
When did the Black pearl were built 1780s-1790s!?
I am guessing that the pocket universe might be the dimensional split of the main timeline; disconnected but drawn by the pre-golden past of the first pirate brethren court. How would I know that? It is just a guess.
The Pirate lore in Pirates of the Caribbean is based on a General History of Pirates? Almost everything in that book is wrong.
Preeeetty much, yeah. Makes sense though. Pirate fiction eclipsed real pirate historical knowledge, and by the 50’s and 60’s with a bunch of pirate media, it pretty much set in stone that the real history was lost.
We have our heading
Here we go!!!
So you’re telling me Jack was 60 when he went after the fountain of youth?!?
What made Black Pearl the fastest ship? Was it part of the deal with Davy Jones? If so, couldn't he make Dudchman equaly fast?
It was just built to be really fast
I’m pretty sure Henry wasn’t trying to off himself lol
What about Pirates Online? It still falls within the timeline. It had to have happened between the first and second movie
Great video, we’ll done!
I'm just a bit confused when the age of bronze takes place up to bold new horizons? Are those books not Canon?
The books are in a weird state of semi-canon. Personally I have not read all of the POTC books (though I would love to someday), but unless something contradicts them, I would say they should be considered canon.
It's names like "Flameheart Jr" and "wrathbone" that makes it hard to take video games narratives seriously.
Never forget that two famous real pirates were named Blackbeard and Hornigold, with the latter being his birth name.
How was jack 60 but looked younger
I guess he ages like Tom Cruise lol
Now redo it all.
The fact that sea of thieves is canon
so how did his life truly end? on the sea? surrounded by friends?
I always wonder about whose curse is worse and I do not understand why no one else ever thought of asking that question before? If they have at all, then that must've been in chatroom sites which I am never subscribing to; I barely remember more than half of my old friends anymore anyway and there is always the high risk going on with chat rooms that might run afoul with hackers who would try to steal my identity and get me in trouble with any one of those sites.
And now you gotta tie in Monkey Island and Sir Arthur Pendragon's Adventures
Why? This is a PoTC timeline, not a SoT timeline
@@flap.d.jack247 bc potc continues in sot duh, and it would be a good video idea
@@Pyromaniax yes but after the pirates life tall tales, Jack goes home. So while it would be a good video idea to make more SoT history, it doesn't need to be tied in to PotC
Am probably guessing he continues living to the 2000s since he’s immortal 🤔
Did you know that Davy jones his real name was Willem van der Decken he was dutch (in real life) but in the Pirates of the Caribbean he was Scottish but the curse of Davy jones is also Dutch the Flying Dutchman was a VOC ship so that was also a Dutch ship you can see it in his name (the flying DUTCHMAN) but a nice video tho but I just wanted to share the info
