I bought two of Clarice Lispector’s books bcs of your recommendations and The Apprenticeship literally changed my life and made me fall in love with reading again so thank you ❤ I also bought Agua Viva (also incredible) and I can’t wait to read more of her books!!
I'm so glad to see Broder's Death Valley on this list. I was pleasantly surprised by her previous novel, Pisces, for it's bold writing style and protagonist that you love to hate. I still haven't gotten around to Death Valley but really want to read it (even more so now that I've heard your thoughts on it).
I read so many great books in 2024, but I think the number one is "I who have never known men". I read it months ago and still think about it all the time. Could not put it down and finished it at 4 am on a week night when I had to work the next day - it was worth it!
My *Top Books of 2024* : 3. A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers 2. I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman 1. Orbital by Samantha Harvey *And a few that would definitely make it onto a longer list* : It Lasts Forever and Then It's Over by Anne de Marcken The Six Deaths of the Saint by Alix E. Harrow The Measure by Nikki Erlick
If you love the concept of sentient homes & building carrying memories can I recommend North Woods by Daniel Mason - it’s a historical literary fiction novel that explores one house & everyone who lives in it over the course of a few hundred years, as well as how their stories all intertwine in the end x
bought it lasts forever because of you and it also made my top 10!! if youre a fellow melissa broder fan (like me) try anna dorn, her book exalted was my number 1 of 2024 💙
