If you want a GT that can really handle, grab a DH. If you just want a DH for the rarity, grab a DH. If you want to supercharge a Mustang and not have a worry about cast rods, grab a DH. If you're just in the market for a Mustang, grab a GT. They're more than fantastic.
I own a DH exactly as you describe. Regular seats, 6-speed manual, no performance pack. It’s my daily driver (if snow isn’t in the forecast). I love it. Upgraded from a 2012 GT used in the same fashion.
Surprised they didn’t dial in that 10 speed a little better. It’s an extremely cool looking car, but I always struggle with the top end Mustangs. I feel like they are super fun GT cars, but I feel like for the top end money there are just too many other things I’d rather buy. I daily a 2016 Mustang, and I actually can get two toddlers in the back pretty comfortably, but I know my days are numbered before I really need a 4 door.
Totally get it! But I think the nice thing about the Mustang is that it's now unique in the space. Nothing else can replicate the experience, which is cool... And sad 😰
I have a 24 gt pp and the 10 speed is damn near perfect compared to previous years it always knows what gear to be in and when in sport or track it always keep it at the lowest gear possible, shifts are always on point , and it’s the smoothest ride I’ve had yet
I got the s650 GT vert with PP +Magnaride, race red, NPP, beautiful ride. But for what I paid new I'm seeing very slightly used DH for same price or lower already. I'm considering the trade up. I LOVE being able to put the top down but man this is clean. Did I make a mistake? Should I make the trade? One thing I like about my vert that even with the top up the exhaust is LOUD. I test drove a regular GT coupe and it sounded so quiet.. community give me your opinions! Is the DHHP that much better (comparable to PP2 vs my PP1 if I've looked into it right). The ability to track it is also very appealing.... any thoughts?
She just nailed it and my last two Ex's couldn't give two shi@ts about my S550 and didn't even care to drive it! Women just loves shopping, shows, purses and very expensive rings and those are all of the things I try to stay away because "shopping" means us men have to spend $$$, I prefer mine to go on my car! :-0
mag damping system is standard equipment on all Dark Horses. trying to decide between an entry level Dark Horse, and a GT Premium with performance pack. today is test drive day! gotta visit 2 different dealerships though. same price of the two I am going to look at. Same suspension, but 500 hp vrs 486 hp, plus cosmetic differences
@@jax1079 yeah, $63k is my max budget, both are that price. dont really care about the extra hp, I just like the looks of the dark horse more, as well as the interior. This dark horse has the indigo blue cloth seats which I prefer over leather anyway. The GT is loaded with the night pony package.
Hahaha! I might skip it. If you're truly going to daily it, you're going to chew through expensive tires more than you'd like, and the ride handling difference in the normal world is negligible.
I optioned mine with the normal seats cause I’m a bigger guy and I sat in the recaros and didn’t find them comfortable especially on my thighs. The normal premium seats are super comfy have some bolstering and the added plus of being power/heated and cooled was a no brainer for me. I have the handling pack and the tram lining is noticeable but I can live with it. I also have the 6 speed and wouldn’t have it any other way! The only “con” with it is pretty much renders the cup holders useless. Even small coffee cups get it the way of my forearm when shifting. Good luck with that Stanley in a 6 speed lmao
I think you have not had time with the 10 speed long enough. You need to learn the hyper gears of the car. 2nd gear is a hyper gear. You cannot rev out in first gear and hit redline then shift. It will fuel cut. You need to shift between 5200-6400 or you'll miss the shift point. So learn your hyper gears, the car likes to go and stay in the 3400-6700 band. Gear 2, 5, 7 seem to have shorter gears. What you did was bang off the limiter and it fuel cut to save the engine. It pretty much saying you missed a shift like if you miss a shift in a manual car. You won't get to 7500 the manual cuts power @ 7250 so yeah. The auto will let you but immediately fuel cuts @ 7500. So that why when you rev'd frist out, I knew you was doomed 🤣. I damn near hit my head the first time it happened... it is very jarring! I'm @7800 miles, and I still forget to shift early. But is nice once you learn what the car likes.
Excellent response! I was unaware that you should early shift first gear to get to second. That's great information and helps to explain a lot. I appreciate the clarification. Thanks for watching and commenting!
If you option up a performance pack and keep a Dark Horse resonable, the difference isn't all that much. I'd probably go for a less extreme Dark Horse over the performance pack, mainly for the better manual transmission and slightly better steering feel.
Love the intro of this video--the music and switching the still shots on the beat is a great production technique that so many TH-camrs fail to do these days. Personally, I thought the logo looked like a Doberman Pinscher, but what do I know? 😉 Would have loved to seen the road as you punched the throttle going down Masters Rd. to get a better sense of how the car handled. Still good video from a new subscriber! Enjoy the day!
There’s two levels of the dark horse Mustang. He’s driving the track version there’s a day later street version but this invention is different and the size is different. It comes in around 68 grand.
so kids 7-12 or so can't ride in the back seats? if they can't thats such a waste. ima GM guy. i have a Blackwing, Vettes and ZL1. helping someone research this. she's leaning towards auto. the GM autos outperform manuals. are you saying this manual outperforms the auto? thanks
Depends on how big the kids are. Mine? No way they could've fit back there when they were 7, but we're all very tall. And the auto vs manual depends on what you mean by "outperform." From a technical standpoint at maximum attack in a track scenario? Sure, quite possibly. From a daily satisfaction standpoint? No way. But if the transmission must be an auto, there's certainly nothing WRONG with it from a daily driving perspective. (And I'm a GM guy as well!)
@@jax1079 okay. ive had kids that age in the Camaro. yes im referring to just the quickest possible shifts. the woman im researching it for will only buy the manual if it's quicker on the track. my first car was a stick. my last manual was a C7. traded it for an auto. at 51 my manual days are over. hopefully my Enthusiast Card isn't revoked. 😂 thanks

They definitely can. I'm 5'7 and fit in the back seat fine. My brother who's 6ft is definitely uncomfortable back their though as his head is pressed against the roof/glass.
So I don't mean to sound rude by saying this but theirs a clear reason you have low views compared. Just to point some of the issues in your review out. Which Ironically youve stated the opposite of actual reviewers on. The backseat is fine for kids. Im 5'7 and fit perfectly fine but my brother whos 6ft definitely doesn't though. Most kids arent 5'7 though as thats the average adult males height. Have you ever actually drove on a track or even drag race? Automatics are faster than manual's at shifting and more accurate. Hence why automatics are recommended for racing while manuals are more for the street. Obviously manuals are used in racing but its not at the pro level. The tires dont make you follow the imperfections in the road thats just your bad driving.
Hey, with a car like this, we'd LOVE to have more time to get to know all the nuances. While some have pointed to ways to make the 10 speed faster and shift more reliably, I'd still maintain that the 6 speed manual would be the way to go. Any time you lose to human ability would pay off more with satisfaction and just plain fun.
Totally get it. Automakers are having a hard time making it look not tacked on, and as a tall guy, it's frustrating because it rarely lines up at all with my seating position and steering wheel.
