  • Here we take a look at the beautifully engineered ATB diff from Ashcroft Transmissions. I will also remove the crownwheel from my old Diff and take a look at my rebuilt swivels.

    Thanks again Nigel. Looking forward to seeing it being fitted! I haven't found a guide to this anywhere else on TH-cam so it will be extremely helpful.

      @@defender90keswick.nigelsla59 Thanks Nigel - much appreciated. Getting the pattern on the crown wheel right and the preload are a couple of things I would want to get spot on. But I'm sure you'll cover this anyway as you are so thorough in what you do. Cheers

    Another benefit of this over a locker upfront, is the improved breaking and traction control. Unless you’re doing some fairly extreme off-road, I can’t personally see the value of a locker over an atb.
    With your centre atb in the transfer box, this is going to be unstoppable 😀

    i had an ashcroft atb in the front axle on my puma 90 with an ashcroft locker in the rear, i found it great off road but not so good on the road, felt like it was trying to straighten the steering up going round bends🤔

      Thanks for your reply Chris. Sounds great!! That means it’s doing it’s job and keeping traction on both wheels. In a fwd car the feeling is awesome, kind of like getting rid of understeer.

    Looking forward to the build Nige. Interested whether you use the genuine pinion height block which is rather expensive, or if you have an alternate method for setting pinion height. Cheers
