🎶 “They say that in the Army, the coffee is mighty fine…It looks like muddy water and tastes like turpentine!”🎶 Yes, fond memories! Thanks for the great content.
Favorite cold soak is Milk & cereal, put 1 cup cereal in a freezer bag + 1/4 cup NIDO, add water, shake, instant milk & cereal. Put 3 packets instant grits + 2.5oz packet Bacon pieces in freezer bag, add 12oz water, ready in 15 minutes. Instant mash Potatoes cold soak instantly and are good with bacon pieces. Always bring 1 pound of Walnuts (3000 calories) or Mixed Nuts (2500 calories). Can eat SPAM cold, it is already cooked ready to eat. Skippy Peanut Butter gets into bloodstream immediately and gives instant energy.
Brother John, thank you for another camp recipe. I have never considered cold soaking Ramen. Glad to see you out in the woods and you look like your old self today. Hope all is going well for you. Blessings, David.
Thanks for sharing the knowledge. I would much prefer to do this method than to be hungry. Hungry takes all enjoyment away as so many people will tell you
So Very True! With this prolonged heatwave we've been enduring, I've found several things that not only taste good cold, but are down right refreshing. I have to be honest with you, I Poo Pooed this technique for a long time. But like so many food items I enjoy now, at one time, I refused to eat them.😉😀👍
I dehydrate my quading food ground beef and sausage work vegetables I eat like a king. Two of Dave’s bottle cup ,two qt bush pot with stove. ISO burner in polish bread bag Bread bag fits a Arizona ice tea rug with room to spare
How ya think they eat em in prison? 🥶 🤮 Well actually that was the county jail, prison provides a microwave, hot water, showtime, and you can order food and cigarettes from the store if you have someone to send you money.
If you are in real need of a hot meal and want to dutifully obey a burn ban, one of them solar ovens would work great if you didn't have any other MRE FRH type solutions to fall back on. And if you also didn't have much sun, well, I hope you like cold to lukewarm food 😅
I talked to a dude once that said he was on a recon and found a way to reconstitute beans much faster. But wouldn't say how no matter how many times I asked. So finally I asked why he wouldn't tell me and he said " after those RECONstaTOOTS I decided it was best to cold soak anything else." Thanks for reading 😂

Consider getting a sun kettle for solar hot water
I'm not familiar with that. I will certainly look into it. Thank you very much for the suggestion!
Yes: we are losing a precious season of campfires and outdoor experiences. (Sigh.) So: get it while you can and when you can.
as a Brit, do understand that your not aloud to use camping stoves?
In most cases, self-contained camp stoves are allowed
Or just bring a thermos with hot water
That would definitely work for several hours, depending on the quality of thermos.
