- The FLC, An Ideal Defensive Rig For The Average Joe! Howdy Folks! This video is a thorough beginners guide to the Fighting Load Carrier (FLC) Used as a Personal or Home Defense Rig.
I have played around with "BUMP" bags and I personally don't care for them. The FLC is essentially a vest that can be put on quickly and will keep all of your defense items secure and organized.
The FLC can be easily upgraded to a Combat Rig if needed. FLCs are very inexpensive and readily available. The can be used as purchased (most are UCP, the "camo" no one wants) for home defense or Dyed any color you desire with RIT Dye to blend in easily with your desired environment.

Buddy. I couldn't agree more. I purchased the full rifleman set up for 79.00. Assault pack, vest, sling bag and pouches. HUGE FAN of all the gear. I dyed it all brown and OD and use it all the time. The pack is 9.5/10. SIDE NOTE: You look 10 years younger. Keep up the fitness and facial grooming!! Thank you for the vid!!
Cheap, available and practical what's not to love? All this Crye gear or tacticool kit never made anyone a better shot.
Hahahahaaaaaa!!!! Thank You!
Truth!
John over an hour! Boy are you back!! I agree with you totally, all the Gucci gear in the world doesn't make you some sort of super soldier. I've put equipment on thousands of times but I've put a jacket on innumerable times and muscle memory when your heart rate is 140 is essential.
We use the KISS numonic in the British army Keep It Simple Stupid. Know your kit, practice with your kit and watch Boonedockery videos!
After seeing recent events in the US I'm praying for you all John. Hope for the best but keep your powder dry my friend.
Edit: we appreciate you brother, through it all you keep us on board. God bless you, keep the faith John he has a plan for us all. My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with you. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Thank You Brother AND God Bless You And Yours!!!!
Well said and love you both ❤🤛😉💪🫡
The best advice to people that are new to self-defense preparedness is to make sure that your flashlight has some kind of red-light ability. I use a combination of red lenses and red LED flashlights. White light (especially with a super bright ones) will destroy your night vision. It takes 45-60 minutes for you to regain your night vision from white light exposure.
TRUTH And Thank You For Pointing This Out!!!!👍👍👍👍👍
I like the way you think- You have the right idea- But I prefer the 5.11 Tactical VTAC LBE system for my load carrying needs. More comfortable.
Brother I honestly couldn't tell you how many different rigs I have. All set up for specific firearms and purposes. It really depends on "The Mission" as to how much I like a particular rig. By your choice in rig selection I can tell your pretty knowledgeable or had/have an excellent mentor. As far as a one only tactical rig, I think the FLC is "okay". But with training it can prove very good. With all the variables I mentioned on the video, I truly believe that the FLC is an IDEAL option for the average Joe. Prayerfully, I hope we never have to put our rigs to use. However I have always been the kind of guy that "Prays For The Best, AND Prepares For The WORST". I personally believe you have to do both with equal intensity and dedication.
Thanks and all the love for you and yours 🙏
Going out on a limb here. I've messed with surplus for 50+ years. The absolute best rig for the M4 type of rifle is the LBV 88.
FLC is awesome. Its like an ALICE rig +. easier to wear with a ruck, holds more stuff, easy to set up with comms, still breathable, CHEAP!
I Agree Completely!!!!
Yes, good! I have 3x US FLC vests. Each one equipped with 2x Triple Mag-pouches (left + right), 2x Canteen pouches ( left + right for oasis nalgene water bottle), 1x rear admin pouch for one day hiking without any issue.
Excellent Loadout!
Been waiting for you to show up again. Welcome back!
Thank You! You should be seeing more of me now.
Awesome Video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Dude your channel is cool AF!
Thanks, Glad you think so!
I prefer usmc chest rig and the alice LBV with belt and a butt pack.
I did give the FLC a shot i didn't care for it.
I'm curious, what were the things about it that you didn't like?
@@limasierraone7107 I couldn't get it to feel right. I tried both ways of setting up the waist belt. But once i had full pouches on it seemed off. I can't say specifically. I never took it out to train with because of how it felt to me.
It probably didn't help that my perfectly adjusted LBV i been using for about 30 years was in the same room. Or that my tap panel I love was hanging in there too.
@@joedamore9350 that's interesting. I guess this stuff comes down to personal preference. I have had good luck with the molle II flc
@@limasierraone7107 Ya, it does come down to the person. There was nothing wrong with it I would def make it work if i had to and be happy to have it. I gave mine to my gf she likes it.
I really like the TAP as well. I have only had very limited experience with the LVB.
I believe I have the exact same vest; only in black! Welcome back, I hope all is going better.
I have a lot of rigs! The FLC has everything going for it as a "starter" rig, However, It can be configured for a one and only primary rig. It doesn't matter how awesome your rig is, if you don't train with it, you might as well not even own it. I'll make a post on my community page about my life situation later today.
@@boonedockery7220 Oh I understand for sure; I really need time to train myself, its been a hot minute. Also sounds good, if you need anything feel free to reach out!
Best advice I can give is "it depends" 😆.
Whats the intended use?
Is it meant for an at home bump in the night?
Stored in a vehicle as a responder kit?
The dogs and sheep are going nuts homestead predator kit?
For anyone wanting a "grab and go" satchel/purse style bag I highly recommend the minuteman bag by Sewjournegear or the adventure bag from Refuge Medical (especially for a car/homestead medical kit).
The FLC is a nice piece of gear (especially for the price) if you want the load spread around you better than a chest rig. Its pretty intuitive to put on too since most people get the idea of a vest but might not right away with a H or X harness on a chest rig system, let alone how to size/adjust them to the right placement.
The TAPS is still my preferred, but then I also use it with a belt system and pack and go on rucks "for fun" lol.
Chest rigs will also have added layering options (concealed or over things like armor) if thats a factor for people.
Lots of things work for a variety of uses, just some better than others for a given task, and some cross over more than others (but might not be "the best" for either one).
Whatever the use, having a system that stays in place (and thus keeps items in place too), and a way to carry medical/ammo/commo and retain other items are pretty universal for most scenarios.
No matter what those scenarios are or how crazy the world gets, theres a line in the Book that Ive had impressed on me for a long time and strongly about 2018, we were made for such a time as this, He saw fit to put us right here right now to accomplish His purposes. Go be a reflection of the Light. 👍⚔
Thank You and Amen! This is exactly what I was hoping for as far as "helpful" Comments! Thank You! Thank You!
If you like milsurp stuff, an old school bread bag is a great bump bag. Inexpensive too!
I like my Czech MNS-2000 FLC. It's a little older before the Czech army adopted MOLLE gear although it has a couple MOLLE areas. It has many pouches. AR mags fit. I can carry a knife. It even has clips for the army issue rucksack. Only problem is I bought the woodland pattern and I live in the desert. So if anyone wants to trade the Czech woodland for the arid pattern, let me know!!
I am familiar with the German WWII Bread Bag but not the Czech. I will research it. IMHO the design of the German WWII harness assembly is brilliant, merging modern (for the time) with tried and true kit items from the past.
I just looked it up, and it looks like an excellent piece of kit! Thank you for sharing this info with all of us!
Very underrated piece of kit!
I agree! If I had no other options, I could definitely max this rig out and be perfectly content with it.
I'm a civilian and on my flc, i have 4 30rd mag pouches and 3 9mm pouches, a tourniquet and a knife. Also i have a lc2 belt with a Y harness, with a ifak, more 30rd pouches, 2 water canteens and my secondary weapon. It seems that this is all i need.
That is a great and versatile Combo!
I have the 3 pocket ammo pouch on mine, but I removed the thread on inner pockets making it one big pocket. It opens possibilities as to what can be carried in them.
Thank you for your hard work and prayers to you and your family.
I'd like to know what is the Dye color you used on the FLC.
Thx
Thank you! It was OD but I did add a few Coyote pouches to the FLC as well.
Great video brother
Thank You! Glad you liked it!
That flc is cool, but i also feel its got limitations. I like going prone the flc wouldn't suit me of i do stuff in the woods, but inside my house or in my truck absolutely. I obsessed over MOLLE for years and now im 43, I like A.L.I.C.E. and i have a disdain for MOLLE. I am open minded to a flc and a.l.i.c.e rigs.
By 'home defense' you must mean working outside the structure...or firing through windows to maintain a perimeter. Your setup is for defending against a 'massive' attack.
Great educational video bud I have a coyote tan flc that is set up for my AR-15 great vest for the money and modular....is that dyed ACU vest you have or OCP I couldn't tell lol
It was UCP. I got Dye formulas from RITs website and dyed a ton of UCP stuff O.D. and Coyote. I posted a few videos about it if your interested in learning more about it.
Is this your olive drab mix? On TH-cam it's looks almost ranger green too.
Yes it is the O.D., however, I've also got a couple Coyote pouches on there as well.
Sportsman's guide...FLC with 6 pouches =
BAZINGA! Yes! Thanks for sharing this!
I think you need to do an update on the Wilderness Innovations video. After seeing your video on the gear I spent $500 plus on a poncho and a osni it’s been over 6 months and I still haven’t received my order. I am not the only one many others are experiencing the same thing. See below link:

Amen brother God bless you and your family
Im retired Army...in my opinion and some may disagree but I would have 4 double mag pouches on front and 2 canteen pouches on sides/rear or in that area i. A run and gun scenario you gonna need that water having said that...be aware the double mag pouches are mean for the aluminum issue mags magpul mags prob wont fit 2 per pouch also you will want to have a IFAK
Excellent Advice Brother! This is exactly the kind of comment I was hoping for! I have been surprised at the "inconsistency" in all the types and styles of G.I. Issued magazine pouches I have purchased. Some will ONLY accommodate aluminum magazines, while others will accept a full load of magpul pmags???? The more heavily used two mag pouches with "dead" elastic will take two pmags, but with good condition elastic only one. Thank you for taking the time to post this! I really appreciate it and I am certain it will be very helpful for the newcomer!
