I have the sawyer squeeze. I’ve utilized the outlet and discharge in-line adapters, fabricating a shoulder carry rig by means of web strap. I keep it under my arm (near body heat) and it won’t freeze. I have the asters tied in a way which won’t ever touch each other or the ground thus contaminating. 👍👍😁🇺🇸
Here in Brazil, we have clean and drink safe water straight from the tap, but we still filter our water regardless. The chemicals used for water sanitation aren't really a concern (they are perfectly safe the way they're used) but we never know what sort of contaminants might've gotten into our pipes or reservoirs (for real, check your pipes/reservoirs. You'll be surprised how much stuff builds up in them). People usually have a simple small filter connected straight to the kitchen faucet, or a separate filter just for drinking water. Really simple stuff, but really helps us stay hydrated safely. I always found weird how in some countries people drink straight from the tap. Where people don't have access to drinking water, we use some drops of a solution of very diluted bleach. The bleach bottles you can buy at the supermarket here even have in their labels the correct recipe for how to purify water. It's pretty neat.
I use membrane solutions it's a great design. I picked it because it is rebuildable and has carbon filter inside as well. I just can't justify the Gryal when mine works well and is easy to get more filters. Freezing is a issue with all filters so i carry extra rebuild kits. Im guessing a few handwarmers in a good container would stop the Freezing. Im guessing best way is keep your filter on your body under your jacket. I really like that 3liter bottle. That could be very useful. I should say i use 2 filter system. I filter once with the membrane solutions filter into my 4liter bag in my pack. My pack has a inline filter. Might be over kill but i don't like the Hershey screamers in the middle of the night. Call me crazy but anyone thats had a stomach virus knows what I mean. Truthfully in winter i don't worry about filter i pack clean water and boil everything else.
I would imagine you would have the OG USGI Arctic Canteen + Cup and the Canadian 36 oz. Cold Weather Arctic Canteen being a military surplus collector ?
Good tips & tricks. I heard that if you stand a USGI canteen upside down, it stops the neck of the bottle from freezing & forming an ice plug
good advice my friend
