    if i am after a particular set on bricklink i'll first load it up in studio and remove everything i don't require. Then I'll upload that to bricklink and create carts from the upload. After that i'll go through and look for any parts that look expensive and see if a slightly different colour will bring the cost down. Eg (for the winter village bakery) part 3308 in medium dark flesh is around £5.00 used whereas the same part in dark orange is £0.12. In that case i would most likely go back and change all the medium dark flesh to dark orange then reupload and compare costs.

    Print out complete wanted list first, then go through your collection and remove what you already have off your wanted list before searching for stores to Buy.
    IMO, unless you have a large portion of lots already, the example you showed of UCS 10212 will have minimal savings for NO minifigs, display stand, stickers, instructions or box (all of the real exclusive elements that make up the set). In this case, I would just pay the extra $100 to get a complete set from a single seller.

    • @Bricksie
      @Bricksie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agreed. In this example you would be better off spending the extra money for a more complete set with less grief. The example somewhat backfired on me. But I was doing it non rehearsed and this method can save you money under different circumstances.

    Bricksie, I’m trying to make more buildings in my city, but the plates I want to use (16x16) are all $1.00+, and while buying one or two wouldn’t hurt, I need easily 10+, something that adds up with tax and shipping cost. What bottom plates do you use for your custom buildings? I’d love to know if I can find any cheaper bases. Thanks for reading, very helpful video.

      @Bricksie  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately for a part like a 16x16 plate your not going to get it much cheaper then that

    9:20 you added on $80 extra for shipping, but you only needed to add on approx $40 (just for the TBD ones) as the $9.75 and $28.95 were already included in the Grand Total of $379.48. So you saved even more than you thought, right?

    This method doesn't work for the Lego Technic sets for cars, since the price for parts only is more expensive than buying new. I've tried with the chiron, 911's, land rover etc.. i guess it works if you're into Star Wars though

    after doing this it still looks like buying it from sellers whole is still cheaper, I did 4 situations, 2 for brand new (box and everything) and 2 any condition, all 4 came out more expensive that the whole you can buy on the item listing
