I've watched a bunch of videos on this car, and not one of them shows the boot with the back seats down. You're the only one, so thank you for that! Greetings from the US.
Hey, what is your opinion on the hybrid engine refinement? I drive an A class 250e and im not satisfied with it. I have a dead spot on the accelerator sometimes which delays me moving for a second and don’t want another car with the same. I had my dealership check it out and apparently no issues.
@@paddy8046 I think this problem exists on all plug-in hybrid cars including MB. I noticed it in Skoda and then in RENUALT, Captur. in my GLA it happens but very discreetly. The reason is bad switching between petrol engine and electric motor. Mostly I drive only in EL-mode and this perfect, acceleration is really soft.

One of the main complaints is that you can accidentally brush the steering wheel while your driving & your display then alters which is not only annoying but could be dangerous !!....why car manufacturer's do this on models is perplexing !
Used to have a GLA but swapped it for a CLA then sold that last January because I'm not commuting anymore and couldn't justify keeping it. So my wife and I then swapped her Mini for a very nice Volvo XC40 to share. It's comfortable, smooth and well equipped though also understated compared to the Mercedes. This GLA looks very smart. You really can't beat the Mercedes interiors for style and I still enjoy Nick's quality and informative videos about Mercedes. I'll be back. Just got to persuade the boss...
Awh awesome thank you! Glad you’re still enjoying the videos! Hey I’ve been in a Volvo before and they’re really nice! All down to your preferences and what you like the look of etc 🤓 I’ll keep the videos coming! 👀
is the ride more comfortable in the XC40 than in the GLA? I own the 1.3 petrol basic version with 163 hp. The car is pretty nippy but the ride is somewhat unsettled and can be bit crashy over continuous bumps and potholes. I found the ride in Skoda/VW/Seat or even newly Hyundai Kona more refined and comfortable
I'd say that the ride is better, you feel higher up and it's smoother, in the XC40 but I'd also say that the dashboard is more Spartan because everything is focused around the single, central touchscreen and the whole set up before you is less showy. Both have their merits and lacklustre elements. The Volvo seats are excellent.
@@jcrosby8357 what surprised me negatively in the GLA is that since 20000 km it already developed some rattles in the cabin while i drove last week a Skoda Karoq with 54000 km and was driving like brand new.. Most disappointing was that in the delearship the mechanic said better not to touch these rattles. We may do the car worse.. Infotainment and technology is excellent in the Merc, no complaint there, though for the money i'd expect adaptive cruise control and Apple/Android connectivity as standard, like in the VW products and not to pay extra.
Hopefully the transmission is better in this one. I have a 2016 gla and my transmission just started giving me issues. It sucks, however, I am ready for a new car.
First time watching your vids..awesome video! Thinking of purchasing my first Benz, and am considering the GLA 200/250? Its just my fiance and I so I think it would be a good fit. Is it roomy enough to fit a car seat in the rear, with 2 adults and 2 kids? Would appreciate your thoughts.
Hi Nick love your videos . I’ve just bought a 2023 GLA 200 it’s a lovely smooth drive but just one problem the reversing camera opens and closes while driving forwards , any ideas ? Thanks .
Ah thank you! Glad you enjoy them! I asked Mercedes this years ago and this is what they said. Reversing cameras used to be just mounted on the exterior exposed to the light conditions which made it show the image instantly. Because they were on the outside they got dirty very quickly. However newer styled cameras now have a retractable housing which is good for keeping it clean but the camera when it pops out has to expose for the light (daytime / nighttime / low light etc) and it can take seconds before it actually shows you an image. To combat this Mercedes will have the camera “pre-pop out” as you slow down so when you do select reverse, the image is shown instantly.
Thanks for your reply Nick so if I took car back to dealer they won’t do anything about it ? Sorry to be asking awkward questions . Thanks in advance and keep the videos coming !
Thanks for your quick reply Nick it’s a shame because it’s spoils an amazing car , I may not have bought car if I knew it was going to be this annoying 😡keep up the good work Nick !
Thanks for that video Nick, well I have to disagree with the poster so far. Have just taken delivery of my new GLA200 sport in Patagonia Red, because I wanted to keep it in the lower cost of road tax, and I thoroughly enjoy it, lot better than my old GLA which I had for 7 years. 😂 Only gripe is the little touch pads on the steering wheel can be bit fiddly. It has lots more room in the backl, did not know about the boot shelve could be lowered. Good video again Nick
Glad you enjoyed the video! Yes that’s why I pointed out to advise people to try You do get used to it after a while (it’s the same as my car). I do love the design but personally prefer physical buttons
Hi Nick, love your videos, your a great presenter. I recently bought a GLA45s and love it! it's brand new but I was wondering what would you recommend to clean the brushed aluminium interior finishes with (door handles, steering wheel, etc), thanks
Awh thank you! Personally for the exterior I just use normal car shampoo (Autoglym) however make sure nothing harsh rubs on the silver chrome on the exterior and especially alloy wheel cleaner. It shouldn’t be used on anything other wheels anyway, but if the wind caught it as you’re spraying it can eat away at the coating on certain chrome surfaces on the exterior. For the interior I just use a lint free cloth and for stubborn stains, I have a bit of glass cleaner that usually works to remove smudges and finger prints etc.
Great video as always Nick! I just bought a brand new GLA facelift in spectral blue. Still have to wait until march - april 2024 to have it delivered, so watching your video's is making the wait even harder 😂
@@joedandrea3707 i already recieved mine a week ago. Unfortunatly the dashcam can't be voice activated, and you have to start the recording manually every time. I hope they will update the system to autostart the dashcam, but i doubt they will.
Thanks Nick for all your videos. I was a A class 220d 4matic (2017) owner. I just changed to the GLA 220d 4matic (2022) its a far better engine. I to need to refit my dash cam.
Hi Nick! Really good job with this video! I want to ask about the new software of the mbux. The gla 2021 will get the new software from mbux 2024 in some update later? Thanks
Hi Nick, I expect to get my gla 200 at the end of March and I have a couple questions. Firstly, on the instrument cluster can you move swap the speedo and rev counter displays. Secondly, I currently have a B Class AMG black edition (71), are the air con and heating controls the same of the GLA? Regards Harry
Hey Harry! Ooo nice! Sadly no you cannot swap the mph and rev counter displays, I’ve found that it varies across car manufacturers as to what way round they are. For the A/C controls they should be the same I would have thought 🤓
I’m trying to choose a GLA but not sure of: 1. If the AMG ride is harsh with the bigger wheels and engine note. 2. Petrol or diesel. Never owned a diesel before but is 1.3 petrol refined and has a good pick up ? Thanks
Is that AMG Line you’re referring to? If it’s a Mercedes-AMG like a GLA 35 then that will have a harder ride. But for sport vs AMG Line the differences is minimal. Mercedes fit comfort suspension according to their brochures on all variants excluding the fast ones (Mercedes-AMG). I own the 1.3L in the A-Class and it’s pretty punchy considering its size!
Well you would get a higher MPG per fuel top up but it depends on the cost fuel. You typically in most cars can further between top ups with a diesel anyway 🤓
Hello Nick. Thank you for your detailed and instructional video's. I wanted a GLA as my first Mercedes, however couldn't get all the features (drivers assist) as they were limiting parts. So while I had a build submitted to my local Mercedes dealership and was going in to talk time frame, they had a 23 C300 Cabrio come off the truck that was beautiful. So I decided to buy that, and think about the build. While helping a friend steer away from Lexus, that dealership had a 23 GLC Coupe come in and was trying to get my friend to look. As he was not ready yet, I decided that I wanted "me" to have it. Both are Diamond White, and fully loaded with all options. Due to your excellent video's, arming me with information I now have 2 new Mercedes. Oh, and my roommate purchased a 23 GLE AMG 53. Thank you again. Look forward to more videos.
Hello Nick. Great review once again. I own a GLA 250e - Prod. date July '23 . Do you know if my car will get an update for the MBUX? I have the full digital double screen like the one in your video. I am from Greece if that makes any difference...
@@npoleary ok. I understand that but it is a pitty to consider my 6 months old car, "old"... At least I have a touchpad :) Thank you for the quick reply!
@SpyTaZz wouldn’t describe it as old at all. New models and generations of everything (tech, cars, tvs, phones) come out all the time. I’m sure it looks awesome! 🙏🙏
@@npoleary Thank you Nick. Keep up with your great work. BTW I have a question about the remote close of the tailgate from the key. Although I can open the tailgate from quite a distance, in order to close it I have to go almost 3m from my car... Is there a trick or a bug? Thanks!
Ah thank you! 🙏 Yes they’re all like that, sadly can’t do it on mine (mine’s manually closing) but yes you need to be very close to the car to close from the key
Volvo and GLA are very similar in terms of ride comfort GLA has options for different drive modes where as the Volvo has one mode only. Both in many aspects are the same. Volvo does however have a portrait screen with Google built in whereas Mercedes have a landscape screen with them own system built in. Other things to keep an eye out for, Mercedes will have wireless CarPlay and wireless Android auto but Volvo will have wired. But on the Volvo front it has options for heated steering wheels which don’t exist on the GLA.
Thanks alright! I don’t mind! I try to reply to everyone where I can and when I can! 🤓 You’ll have to check with Mercedes or check their eBrochures, it can vary round the world and over time as well. I’m sure it was available in the UK on Premium Plus packages though.
Thank you! Sadly I’ve not owned a GLA or fitted any accessories to them (I was only with Mercedes for the couple of days filming this one). I’ve heard some bike racks can go onto a towbar or even the roof but I’d just suggest contacting a Mercedes dealer, they’ll be able to quote for that type of thing. Or visit Thule on their website: www.thule.com/en-gb/ They’re pretty good for car accessories and I’ve bought roof bars before for a car from them.
Hi Nick , firstly thank you for all the advice you have given me concerning my new GLA. Could I ask another question? When I first start my car, for about the first 30 minutes roughly, if I slow to a craw or stop and when I pull away, I get a clicking noise from under the boot floor, after that 30 minutes it stops. Any ideas? My car is a mild hybrid so I wondered if it was part of that system? Many thanks Harry
Thank Nick, I will speak to Mercedes of Salisbury, they supplied me the car. It’s probably me having an attack of the stupids!😂😂😂 thanks once again Harry
Having said that, funny you should mention this I heard a clicking this morning on my car 😂 And after looking it was the exhaust system heating up 😅 So just throwing it out there, not sure if you described it from the interior or the exterior but I thought I’d share as it could be the same. Unless of course it’s very prominent on the inside then yeah, not sure what that is..
Hello again Nick, what they told me it was the reversing camera, it stops after a short time. If you go into settings then camera and open and close it, the sound I heard is produced. It stops after about 20 to 30 minutes and only happens at low speeds below 16 kph. Harry
Thanks Nick. I would be very grateful if you could do a driving review of the new 2024 GLA 35 AMG. Your videos are very clear, thorough and educational with an authoritative tone, so I hope Mercedes-Benz will give you a 35 to review.
Looking at NTG7 on a smaller screen, is the next/previous track button visible in navigation when music is playing? Also, is there a fingerprint scanner to log in to the user profile for the new GLA?
Didn’t see a fingerprint sensor, think that’s just on the vertical screens in larger models of Mercedes. But handily noticed if you swipe up from the bottom of the screen, you can do previous / next track there 🤓
im a professional photographer looking to purchase a GLA but i am also considering the GLB due to the extra cargo space and adjustable back seats. do you think the GLA would be able to fit a good amount of large photo equipment (light stands, etc.) with the seats up or down?
I can fit all of my stuff in my A-Class (just depends how big the light stands are) Here’s a snapshot of mine (excludes the Mac too) You also fold the seats down 40:20:40 as well 🤓 th-cam.com/video/6fzmUlmXcw4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PqxD3fvn_AMiEnnN&t=58
Really sorry you’ll have to check with Mercedes as specs vary round the world (really hard to tell where everyone’s from on TH-cam 😅) I don’t believe you can get it in the UK though but double check with them or on their website on the configurators and eBrochures to be sure 🤓
Great video Nick. I hope to buy a new GLA 200 soon, my only concern is, as an older driver is the technology inside getting too complicated for us oldies to navigate?
Not with my videos on TH-cam! 😅 But on a more serious note no not at all It’s easier, you don’t go into the settings menu everyday. For the most part, on the main Home Screen you’ll have Navi, Radio and maybe Media if you listen to other music. That’s it, there’s loads of other things in the cars too but you don’t have to use every feature 😇
Hi Nick, i've got a problem with ambient lighting on my 2021 gla. The lights are incorporated but when i go to "comfort", the only thing i can find there is the seat adjustment. How can i enable the ambient lighting? Is there anything i can do?
It should be in there, that’s how you adjust it I’d defo recommend getting in touch with Mercedes to check it out. What colour are they set to at the moment?
@@npoleary there's no color. They're closed. I looked in the settings too and there's nothing about it either. When i searched for them it said they're unavailable or something similar. As far as i know, if they're already incorporated it should be an option.. I'll get in touch with Mercedes but until then, i'm trying to find some way, maybe i can do it on my own
hi Nick, thank you for another fantastic video, I own a GLA 250 4Matic and I do not like the fact that they have removed the touchpad, no, I don’t think that’s a good move, but anyway, I want to know if it is possibleto upgrade to the new NGT seven that was in the car that you drove, my car is from 2020 and probably has the previous version, perhaps NGT six, anyway do you know if it’s possible to upgrade that system?
Hey snugglees03! Thank you glad you enjoyed it! Yes I’ve certainly used a lot of cars with a touchpad over the past few years and when I bought mine, my hand did go to use it a couple of times. Having been around a few now without it, you do get used to it (been a few months for me) Sadly no NTG is a new generation multimedia system, it’s not a software update it’s a brand new computer inside with new hardware, faster processors and graphics etc
Hi Nick, I've watched a lot of your videos and I found them very interesting and well made. I want ask you one thing but I don't know if those are a little bit away of the videoes you like to do: I've searched for videos on the 654m engine and basically I haven't found nothing all over the world, on youtube and on the internet himself. I would like to know the technical specifications, not only the boring numbers (those I can easily found) but explanations on how does it works in detail, in particular on how does it works the mild hybrid sistem in detail. For example: how and when the brakes charge the battery, if the energy charge works always in pair with pads and disks or the system can charge the battery (obviously braking a little bit the car) without touching the physical brakes. Or if the OM654M has double or single turbo etc... Excuse me for my english, and hope you will found interesting the video on the 654m engine.
Thank you! Glad you enjoy them! Possibly for the future, would love an in depth video of engine tech but it’s a bit out of my depth! 😅 I know how they work from the cockpit but mechanically, I might need someone from Mercedes UK or Mercedes Germany to explain the details 😂. However…I did find this for you 🤓 group.mercedes-benz.com/innovation/diesel/new-diesel-engine-om-654.html Lots of info on the OM 654, might be what you’re after? 👊🏼😎
I would imagine so, there’s an amplifier in the boot even with the standard sound system and I’ve never seen it compromise interior storage. But check with a dealer to be 100% sure
Getting my new GLA next week, excited!! Daft question probably but any tips around moving from manual to automatic gearbox. Super helpful videos, I think i've watched most of them lol
Ah very nice! Mainly just generic ones maybe, so 1) of course you don’t use your left leg, you keep it pressed down to the space on the floor. In a manual you only use your right foot for braking and accelerating so the same foot for the same functions. The gearstick in Mercedes is super easy. Down for Drive Up for Reverse Button on the end for park 🤓
@@npoleary fab thanks for your reply. I really feel like I’ve got to know my new car before I’ve even got the keys and that’s down to your videos, super informative and so easy to follow. No doubt I’ll be viewing again when I can’t work something out… there’s no escape now 😁
Hi Nick, could you confirm if this new facelift GLA has HUD? i tried building on the merc website and it doesn't seem to have it. weirdly, the a-class does have it on higher trims.
You’ll have to get in touch with Mercedes near you or they do have brochures etc online. I try not to go through specs too much as it varies round the world, just want to cover the car itself 🤓 I don’t recall seeing head up display on the cars available to drive when I was with Mercedes on the day (they usually have a variety)
Nice one Nick. My lease expires this month on my GLC facelift and i don't know what car to pick up next. The new GLC is nice but very expensive, the EQC looks nice outside but inside is already dated and then the new EQE witch is very expensive too. Probably i will keep my glc for another few months or a years and then will see. I can't like a car right now.
Stick with your GLC, don't entertain this rubbish. Never had a car with so much rubbish on it. Your GLC may be a little dated, but believe me, I wish we had kept our's.
@@npolearyjust taken delivery of GLA 200 petrol, which has a 7 speed automatic. It seems to jerk at low speeds when you want a bit of power. Shame 200 petrol has 7 and not 8 speed, which might be better.
Ah nice! I think the way Mercedes have set that engine and gearbox up is that it feels very lively and responsive at lower speeds giving the feeling that it’s faster than it is. Mine’s like that, you do get used to it, I just very lightly touch the pedal and it goes.
Definitely not a change for change sake, most car manufacturers have a product cycle of approx 6-7 years. And halfway (which is this one for the GLA) they bring out a facelift. A facelift are very small updates, multimedia system, engines possibly and a few tweaks to the exterior. The shell of the car and dimensions remain virtually the same. They all do it, so it’s no different to others who bring out small changes halfway though.
I wouldn’t describe it low at all. It’s raised off the ground slightly and has more headroom. It’s basically a small entry level SUV, but is higher off the ground compared to my car (which is an A-Class). Next size up would be GLB or GLC 🤓
Don’t worry I’ve heard this many times before but rest assured the entry level engines in the compact car range are not just "Renault engines", Mercedes and Renault have combined their efforts together to produce a very highly economical, low emission and powerful engine. It’s common for some manufacturers to share designs with each other. Others include Mini Peugeot sharing their engines, Volvo and Noble, Mercedes S-Class & Pagani Zonda and many others too. For the engine you’re talking about, Mercedes also put their own tech and spin into it and designed Formula One technology such as Nanoslide and even cylinder shut-off called CAMTRONIC allowing the cylinders to go down to 2! None of this is found in the Renault’s engines so no, they are definitely not the same at all. Even the new variants feature mild hybrid technology which also is not found on Renault models. Hope that answers your question!
@ Thanks for the quick reply. I want to upgrade soon from bmw X1 to Mercedes. But I read a lot of forums that the early GLA’s are purely renault engines. And they were using these to A class and B class too. I was put off by all the reviews and negative feedbacks. But thank you for enlightenment. I will be looking to get the amg line.
It’s just a collaboration but if jumped into a Renault, the engine is not identical. You could flip it on its head and say the Renault has a Mercedes engine 😅 It’s just a collaboration where they both worked on it together. There are quite a few similarities of course between them but I highlighted the differences above. I bought an A-Class last year and A180 with the same configuration. It’s a brilliant engine! Outputs 136hp or 163hp from a 1.3L. I even did an mpg test at various speeds if you’re interested: th-cam.com/video/OAYWKrKu7kI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_kCi3m78viJpvynB
Sadly I couldn’t check that when I was there as I only had a short time with the car during the day. But looking at their brochure it appears it’s only on the GLA 45 S. This is for the UK though so check with a Mercedes dealer to be 100% sure 👍🏼 Brochure: tools.mercedes-benz.co.uk/current/passenger-cars/e-brochures/gla-SR062023.pdf?_gl=1*lyd88r*_ga*MjA5Njg3Njk0Mi4xNzE4MzQ1NDI1*_ga_38LJSJTYP4*MTcxOTQ3OTcwMC4zLjAuMTcxOTQ3OTcwNC4wLjAuMTI3MzkyOTY5Ng..*_fplc*NGxWZ3F3VE9MMjNqM093NXZXbkNlck5FWUF1MDRsYiUyQmhocXpkZUxUblozODg1UXZUT3gxV3BnJTJGa1ltUm5wMSUyQlZzNmtFb05NT1VSJTJGSTRNdVh5dzBlQmNZUDhmR01yJTJGZ1c2WkElMkZYZmlYbmlMRUZ6Y1VHSGtwSXltWklaamFRJTNEJTNE
Sadly not seen ventilated seats on any car in that kind of segment on any manufacturer. Normally you might find it on a car that’s a little bit more expensive that’ll have a higher spec or of course in hotter climates
I live in Southern California so ventilated seats are a selling point. Lots of Japanese and Korean models have them as options or standard, possibly because the countries of origin have hot sticky humid summers.
Possibly depends on the spec I doubt it would be standard equipment but keep an eye out for Premium & Premium Plus packages if you’re based in the UK. That’s where you’ll find it when configuring one

Hey larsgreen4292, oh no I don’t work at Mercedes UK directly! I run my TH-cam Chanel full time. I cover more than Mercedes on my channel, I cover Volkswagen and BMW too. For any technical questions like that you’ll have to chat to a Mercedes dealership and they’ll be able to help 👍🏼
Sorry you’ll have to check with Mercedes for the exact specs on the car you’re looking at 🤓 I believe it is available but it may vary round the world (depends where you’re based) sorry it’s hard to tell on TH-cam in the comments section!
Took delivery of this model few days ago. The engine often stalls when I park on my driveway, as it has a little incline. It rolls back as I have slam the brakes. Pressing the gas pedal often doesn’t work and I don’t want to press it hard as I risk slamming the car on to my house wall!
He nick 😊 great review ! Do you maybe know why i cant watch this in HD? Only 480 pixels. I am at home on wifi 😮 Update: i see different use of camera's 😊 its now a bit higher res

Hi Nick, Rita here from the Netherlands. I always watch your videos on Mercedes with great interest. I have now placed an order for a new Mercedes GLA 250 hybrid and I am very curious what your findings are. My GLA, AMG line, has 19 inch wheels and a dashcam. A super nice star grill and a sunroof. They say the hybrid can go up to 50 km on the battery but opinions are quite divided on this. Thanks in advance and a warm greeting from Rita Jansen.
Hey Rita! Ooo very nice! Range is always a hot topic because many see the range quoted and assume that’s what they’ll get 24/7 which is far from the truth because we all drive differently, we all drive in different places and we all hit traffic at different times. Range is measured by WLTP in the UK and I guess should be in Europe too. It is done by someone who knows how to get every single mile out of a fully charged battery which is great for comparing between models (so you know what you’re buying). It’s important to note, yes you can achieve the stated range, but you’ll need to replicate the same conditions that it was tested in. So if you charge the battery up, travel between 40mph and 60mph and avoid traffic almost completely, drive in Eco with A/C and heating off then you’ll hit and even beat the quoted range. When starting a journey though, we often are in a built up area and speeds of 40mph and 60mph are often not achievable so range will quite often be less. This is completely normal and nothing to worry about. Opinions as you said are quite divided because each person drives in a different place, encounters different traffic, one person will brake later than the other, one person may travel at higher speeds than the other or even use their heating or A/C more.
Hi Nick Another good & detailed review, thanks. However, all-in-all I don’t think the changes in the facelift amount to improvements or anything worth having really. Like many others, I think the loss of the touchpad is a big negative as touchscreens are inclined to get fingerprint marks and it’s a further stretch away from the driving position. The 'new' led light is quite boring and goes back to the straight line-strip we say years ago. I own the current GLA hybrid and I struggle to get excited about anything in the new facelift. Not worth the effort Mercedes. Ken
Well when a facelift comes round, I don’t think it’s meant to be an upgrade for people who have the direct model before. Much like iPhones, if you have the previous one, the next version up will only have slight improvements over last year’s one / the model before. Facelifts in cars are always like that, for a complete model change that’ll be 3-4 years time 🤓
@@kencarruthers6714 I agree... The only think that looks better are the extra led stripes in the interior and of cource the updated version of the MBUX.
Ah nice thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! It’s a lovely car and quite spacious inside without being anymore difficult to park than a hatchback. It’s primarily just taller 🤓
Great review Nick I have A200 now the GLA 200 will be my next car reasonably priced as a friend paid £34000 for a KIA Sportage fully loaded though. Can’t beat the Mercedes badge though
@@npolearyHi me again just to let you know I’ve now bought a GLA200 AMG-Line Premium so watched the video again. Great car I needed the extra height on the roads near me. Keep up the great reviews.
I ordered a new GLA 250 from Mercedes but when it arrived Mercedes had lowered the spec considerably but charged the same. I kept it for 3 months before selling it back to Mercedes and going elsewhere, nothing wrong with it, just not what I ordered or expected on delivery. Not willing to take the risk in ordering a new vehicle.
I heard that there was a semiconductor shortage impacting all cars specifications across all brands of cars. I’m surprised the sales person didn’t keep you in the loop? Did you get something sorted in the end? 🙏
Unfortunately no. The semi conductor shortage was responsible for the lack of electric seat and remote hatch but does not explain other downgrading such as audio etc. You live and learn, otherwise it was a good vehicle but not the vehicle I ordered spec wise. Keep up the videos they are excellent.
It has a rear camera but that has been set by the software to recalibrate itself frequently and this is very noisy and noticeable. It sounds like a large bolt being slid open and shut every few minutes and it drives me and my wife nuts and makes us sorry that we bought the GLA. Our dealership (in London) has tried to fix it twice and now tell us that it is a known experience and no solution has been forthcoming from MB.
Most new cars do yes but it depends when you live / where you’re based. Sorry it’s very hard to tell where everyone lives in the comments section. If you’re in the UK, yes reversing cameras are standard 🤓
I didn’t notice one on that car but check with Mercedes when you’re shopping for one and they can check the specification of the car you’re looking at. Really sorry it’ll vary round the world so depends where you’re based etc so in try not to go through specs to much on my channel.
Awh thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! It is a very good entry sized SUV and rides beautifully! I do have another entry sized SUV from another manufacturer showcasing on my channel next week so make sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss it! Both are very good though, you’ll have to wait and see what it is 😜

So i would love to see some specific tips maybe for that car or cars of that age. Much Love, continue the good work/vids :D
Awh thank you! I wish I could but sadly Mercedes Press Office and my local Mercedes dealership only have cars over the past few years and I only started my TH-cam Channel in 2020. I have a bit of coverage for cars prior to that but sadly it’s tricky to get hold of anything past that.
@@npoleary ah sad to hear, would have loved vids for those cars but all good. i will still continue watching your vids, and just as information the double tap break so its on hold also works on my c180 2013 thx for that :D
Nick I'm from Australia and have you heard of an issue and fix for mbux 6.5 i think i have? I have a 2022 glc 300 where the map always shows only the main city not the suburb. Example if your driving through clapham the map says the suburb is London. MB said to disable the local search toggle in the navigation section of meredes me. That fixes it most of the time. But not on my samsung s21 and s23 phone. Maybe if works for you you could also do videos on common issues and how to fix??? Just an off the cuff thought. Thx again I watch every week cheers from Perth Western australia
Thanks for watching every week! 🤓 Not heard of MBUX NTG 6.5? Unless it’s different in Australia (which it could be). Could you send me a quick photo to my email? I’m planning to do a another tips and tricks video somewhen so might include it! 👀 “contact@npo-media.co.uk” Thanks 🙏
Hi Nick Trust all's well. Many thanks, for your in-depth reviews. You have inspired me to order (May 2024 Delivery) GLA250e. Executive. Would you know, if I can programme the same to only use electric mode for speeds below 35 MPH and combustion mode above 35 MPH with the flexibility for both in case if required for e.g. overtaking ? Many thanks Nick in advance for any help you may be able to provide. Regards Shaheen Jeewanjee
Hey! Yeah good thanks! Ah awesome! 🤓 Well the default mode of a plug-in hybrid is to run on electric first and up to speeds of 85mph. I’ve heard that some new Mercedes can now integrate with the Sat Nav to kind of make it last longer throughout a longer journey but haven’t managed to test that out yet. Need to ask them if they’ll lend me a hybrid! Haha 😜 But in any case, you’ll be able to change it manually if you wanted to. Electric mode for driving on Electric and Battery Hold for engine, you can just swap it manually when you’re travelling faster if you wanted to 🤓
just want to ask honest opinion about noise insulation ,I've heard the road noise is quite noticeable. second question is Mercedes dealership UK doing 24 hours test drive?
Build quality is sometimes a topic that crops up when reviewing any car but happy to answer 🤓 Mercedes in this case of course sell many many models with varying levels of luxury. The A-Class, CLA, B-Class and GLA kind of fall into the same category. They are all premium models but of course there is a difference when going up through the Mercedes range to others like for example GLC, GLE and GLS / S-Class. But so does the price! 🤓 It’s all down to what you’d expect from a car and to be honest whoever said the noise is noticeable, it’s what they expect from a car too. I would actually say that I noticed the ride quality to be softer than an A-Class (having driven one everyday for the past few months). But again it’s what you’re after. If you drive cars priced £100k+ and then drive a £40k car, you’ll probably notice. But if you’ve never had a German car before and looking to get your first, you’ll fall in love 🤓. But try it out when you test drive, really sorry though not sure on the 24 hour one. I can’t see why you couldn’t but probably better to ask your local Mercedes.
@npoleary I just love merc design always been mazda guy but gla or cla shooting brake really tempting me to try something different but also solid and reliable 😃
👍🏻 Evening Mr O. a quick on your last video weight is going to compromise distance example fuel tank drive with least fuel on board and dump any luggage etc out of the boot, I even myself dump the spare tire get the weight down now a wee word on the braking your own hybrid car, you should be break hard that will put energy back ino the battery extending your range i had a Evo 7 Mitsubishi, that was half rally Car 276 horse power supper small tank as Mitsubishi wanted to lower the weight the range was Mitsubishi said 200 miles i managed 300 and i still had fuel in when filling up however, to achieve this distance, I had to drive the car like a nuns hammock take it easy 👍🏻
Ah thank you for watching! Yes that other video was quite a long one! 😅 Yes there are quite a few things I could have done to improve it even further but I think it was pretty good! Ah now with a mild hybrid according to the screen, if you brake hard, it won’t use brake regen. It only uses it if you brake just a little. Probably different to your one. Glad you enjoyed it though! 🤓
last video was magic and this video was magic. all your videos are magic not one bad one why wood there bee any bad one s ah no i dont have a car yet im still saving up my deposit PCP im still trying to make my mind up however the car will have gear shift paddles. not regen paddles like the EQC BMW X5 or Mercedes-Benz coupe thats where im at now. however if i change my mind it will be a EQC white black mu;ti spoke wheels plus i like long videos so don't be put off from doing them. light breaking that makes sence once i thought about it. makes sense for safety like if a baby is on board say no more.
Not heard of that before… So when you plug your phone in, CarPlay takes over and all of the audio will route through the car (unless of course it’s wireless CarPlay) What happens when you plug it in?
Good analysis. In india the GLA 200 with the 1.3L petrol engine should be best.l choice for a compact SUV that allows easy man entry. However Mercedes has somehow managed to market the 220D and it’s certainly the more popular model. I was also told by the Mercedes service centre that statistics show that the Petrol version has always more issues with the fuel injection valves and that there is lesser maintenance on the Diesel version. Is this a fact or a myth? I would have thought diesel is always tougher to maintain and a little noisier. Any comments?
Thank you! Oh interesting…I mean well I own a Mercedes A 180 petrol with a 1.3L engine so wouldn’t know what the diesel is like long term but the petrol’s absolutely fine! 🤓😎
Just ordered a gla 200 premium and I can’t wait for the delivery, but I’m still a lil disappointed about the touchpad. Regardless the time couldn’t arrive sooner
Ooo nice! Similar to mine, I have Premium on my A-Class. Honestly don’t worry about the touchpad, most cars only have one way of controlling the screen. For some reason Mercedes have three or four. Losing one of them isn’t that bad, I bought one knowing that 🤓
@@npoleary now that you mention it, you’re right. I can just do it from the wheel but aesthetically it looked nice. One question tho, seeing as though the premium version has the advanced sound system which is 225w instead of the 100w system, how much better would you say it is?
@Imanul both sound systems are good but I specifically went for Premium because of the upgraded sound system. It is very good, it can basically go louder and has a very nice punchy bass while being very clear. For audiophiles though, the difference between the one on the Premium package and a branded sound system like Burmester / Harmon Kardon or Bang & Olufsen is that the latter is even more clearer and sits in speaker housings that ensure you’re hearing the best the way the artist intended. (I haven’t seen those for a Mercedes A-Class anyway) For most people, the standard one and even more so the Premium one is even better. The average person may not even notice the difference. But me being picky, I do like my music and it suits me 👍🏼
@@npoleary nice to know since you review mb a lot, we’re definitely alike in the sense that we chose premium versions specifically for the upgraded sound systems. I do enjoy my music and love a song with a lot of bass so opting for it was a no brainer. I also noticed that on the website, it says that the gla premium has a rear armrest but I didn’t notice it when briefly looking at it, do you know if it does?
I don’t recall it being there when I reviewed it so might be best to check with whoever you’ve ordered from. They may have changed it since I made a video showcasing it 🙏
Loss of touchpad on all the affected MB models is very regrettable. This latest GLA has now been downgraded in the same way. Touching the touchscreen while driving is very difficult. This MB has been removed from my 2024 new car list.
Honestly having used my car without the touchpad for a few months, my hand went to use it for the first couple of weeks (it was bound to! Muscle memory!) but then you do get used it. Most cars do only have one form of touch interface anyway, so it’s not as bad as it seems. But if you haven’t driven one, just take one out for test drive at your local Mercedes and try it out and see how you get on 🤓 If this one’s not on your list, what’s on your list now? Still a Mercedes? Or a German car (I do review others!) or something completely different? 🤓
Well it is something you get used to, I bought my car and used it a fair bit. Certainly didn’t put me off buying my car 🤓 The other improvements kind of make up for it! 🤓
Hello Nick, thanks for the video. I just got the new GLA 250e amg line with all options and noticed that the navigation screen on the drivers display has a pop up function when you approach a junction on the road and you are supposed to take a turn at the junction, do you know how can we disable that pop ups on the driver display because the problem is the pop up blocks the view of the navigation maps and its hard to know exactly where to take the turn when you have multiple lanes close by. I will try to post a video if I can to show you what I mean by those annoying popups. But I am sure if you put on navigation and drive along the motorway and an exit comes you can see the pop up in your driver display where the map is.
Thank you! Not sure what you mean by pop up? You can always email me “contact@npo-media.co.uk” I can try and help if it’s the same as my A-Class. It might be!
I really appreciate your comments I totally agree with some of the comments made about the GLA. One of them is the alert system. I am a disabled driver and was not even going across any line. The alert system has nearly caused an accident in my car. It’s very frightening I did tell my dealership about it I really didn’t want to hear. I think I care less. This is one thing that would stop me from buying another GLA. I really enjoy your help and assistance with some of her problems if they don’t login to them they’re losing customers Alice Burke
Hey Alice! Sadly it’s not a Mercedes thing, as I test a variety of car manufacturers virtually every car will have a similar system these days (Mercedes called it Active Lane Keeping Assist). But it’s good to know when it’s active and when it possibly might intervene for example above 40mph and if the car drifts over a lane marking. However if there were say not very clear road markings in the road then it can be turned off on the settings menu for that driving session.
Yeah! I’ve covered the differences here between the two multimedia systems: th-cam.com/video/Ft318ejsnu0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=u69uZOVREUtxmIpL Make sure you’re subscribed with notifications on so you don’t miss out! Plus I’m open to suggestions about future videos! 🤓
Nick, can you please mention the ridiculous rear camera problem. It’s causing so many GLA owners problems. Read up about it on many Mercedes forums. It’s so bad I’m going to sell mine and only owning it 6 weeks.
@@npoleary Nick, I mean where the camera keeps popping in and out at low speeds. Mercedes say it’s normal but it’s very noisy and annoying constantly hearing it.
I’ve heard that before but it’s just where the camera pops out to expose the image ready to show on screen From reading online I think it happens more on vehicles with the 360 degree camera (I’m led to believe)
Hello sir, I 😢am asking myself everyday, why Mercedes not include a spare tire on their cars like in this gla even on other model like glb,gle ,I would to know why is Mercedes benz doing this because other brands do offer spare wheels for free
Excellent question! I asked Mercedes this too! So basically changing a tyre isn’t something Mercedes expect you to do. Plus it’s also quite dangerous to do this at the side of the road (hence why on a motorway, they advise you to stand on the other side of the barrier). Mercedes actually offer Roadside Assistance for up to 30 years from the car’s registration date (here in the UK). The only catch, as long as it has its routine service then they offer that cover completely free. Plus from many many comments on TH-cam, I’ve heard nothing but good things about that level of cover. I’ve got it on my car, something that I hope I don’t need to use but it’s there just in case 👍🏼
It’s a facelift so facelifts have very small changes halfway through the product cycle of a car Most car manufacturers do this small update but the updates are very welcome! 🙏
Luckily, in the U.S. market, we have GLA 250 with 220HP. I just received my 2024 GLA 250, and I love it in every single aspect. 😊
I've watched a bunch of videos on this car, and not one of them shows the boot with the back seats down. You're the only one, so thank you for that! Greetings from the US.
Oh awesome! Thank you! 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍🏼

I've had my new GLA 250e (PHEV) Premium Plus now 3 months, I'm still in love with the car.
Ah awesome car! 🤓👍🏼
Mostly I drive only in EL-mode and this perfect, acceleration is really soft.

amazing car! I have done. 400K miles on this and it still goes like. a new car
One of the main complaints is that you can accidentally brush the steering wheel while your driving & your display then alters which is not only annoying but could be dangerous !!....why car manufacturer's do this on models is perplexing !
Quite agree...
All down to your preferences and what you like the look of etc 🤓
I’ll keep the videos coming! 👀
is the ride more comfortable in the XC40 than in the GLA?
Again another great video! Thanks Nick! 👍
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for another great video Nick - love the GLA in the new spectral blue paintwork 👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed this one! 😇😇
Hopefully the transmission is better in this one. I have a 2016 gla and my transmission just started giving me issues. It sucks, however, I am ready for a new car.
Great tutorial, driving an A200 and will upgrade to this
Awesome! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey thank you! 🙏
Yeah defo (of course depends on how old your kids are) but there’s loads of headroom enough that I can sit behind myself too!
It’s not a fault, it’s designed to do that
It pops out to expose the image ready to show you on the screen 👍🏼
Thanks for your quick reply Nick it’s a shame because it’s spoils an amazing car , I may not have bought car if I knew it was going to be this annoying 😡keep up the good work Nick !
Thanks for that video Nick, well I have to disagree with the poster so far.
Have just taken delivery of my new GLA200 sport in Patagonia Red, because I wanted to keep it in the lower cost of road tax, and I thoroughly enjoy it, lot better than my old GLA which I had for 7 years.
😂
Only gripe is the little touch pads on the steering wheel can be bit fiddly. It has lots more room in the backl, did not know about the boot shelve could be lowered.
Good video again Nick
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Yes that’s why I pointed out to advise people to try
You do get used to it after a while (it’s the same as my car).
Ooo nice! Awwwh thanks! I’ll keep them coming! 😜

Ooo nice! Super luxurious car!
Hi nick glad to see you back at mercedes got the gla 200 petrol 163hp with amg body kit last Nov very happy 😊
Aha yes there was a new model that I got the chance to check out! 🤓
Ah nice! 👌🏼
Hi Nick! Really good job with this video!
I want to ask about the new software of the mbux. The gla 2021 will get the new software from mbux 2024 in some update later?
Thanks
Thank you!
Sadly it’s not software it’s a new generation of MBUX, so only new facelift models will have it.
I’m trying to choose a GLA but not sure of:
What would you say better for fuel 1.3 petrol or diesel
Oh wow two Mercedes very nice indeed!
I’m glad you enjoy the videos! I’ll keep them coming for sure! 👍🏼
Another brilliant video
Thank you! 👍🏼
Hi Nick, simple question: in your opinion, would you go for the GLA250e Executive (Black) or CLA250e Premium Plus (Blue)
GLA for me as I have a dog (well puppy technically) 😅
But if I didn’t I’d have the CLA if it has all the gadgets! 👀
Blue’s easy to clean too! 😉
@@npoleary I went for the CLA250e Premium Plus in Spectral Blue 😍😍😍
@harrysidley5134 ooo very nice! 👌🏼
Hello Nick. Great review once again. I own a GLA 250e - Prod. date July '23 . Do you know if my car will get an update for the MBUX? I have the full digital double screen like the one in your video. I am from Greece if that makes any difference...
Thank you! Sadly this MBUX (NTG 7) is a new generation it’s only on new cars. It’s not software and has new hardware too.
Yes they’re all like that, sadly can’t do it on mine (mine’s manually closing) but yes you need to be very close to the car to close from the key
Which do you prefer gla 1.3 or volvo b3 xc40?
Volvo and GLA are very similar in terms of ride comfort
GLA has options for different drive modes where as the Volvo has one mode only.
Sorry for commenting again does it have a heads up display
Thanks alright! I don’t mind! I try to reply to everyone where I can and when I can! 🤓
You’ll have to check with Mercedes or check their eBrochures, it can vary round the world and over time as well. I’m sure it was available in the UK on Premium Plus packages though.
Brilliant video thank you just ordered one
Ah awesome! What colour did you go for?
Grey not a fan of white or black
Nice! 👌🏼
Hey Nick, thanks for the video. Could you give some advice on bike racks compatible with GLA?
Or visit Thule on their website: www.thule.com/en-gb/
They’re pretty good for car accessories and I’ve bought roof bars before for a car from them.
Ah thanks for watching!
Not heard a clicking sound before, have you spoken to a dealer or Mercedes staff at all? They might be able to check it out
Thank Nick, I will speak to Mercedes of Salisbury, they supplied me the car. It’s probably me having an attack of the stupids!😂😂😂 thanks once again Harry
Having said that, funny you should mention this I heard a clicking this morning on my car 😂
And after looking it was the exhaust system heating up 😅
So just throwing it out there, not sure if you described it from the interior or the exterior but I thought I’d share as it could be the same.
Harry
Oh yeah the reversing camera will pop out from time to time but that won’t stop after 30 mins of driving. That just happens at lower speeds 😎
Thanks Nick. I would be very grateful if you could do a driving review of the new 2024 GLA 35 AMG. Your videos are very clear, thorough and educational with an authoritative tone, so I hope Mercedes-Benz will give you a 35 to review.
Thank you! 🙏
That would be good! 👍🏼
I can fit all of my stuff in my A-Class (just depends how big the light stands are)
Here’s a snapshot of mine (excludes the Mac too)
You also fold the seats down 40:20:40 as well 🤓

Hi Nick, does gla comes with a heated steering wheel? Thanks
Really sorry you’ll have to check with Mercedes as specs vary round the world (really hard to tell where everyone’s from on TH-cam 😅)
I don’t believe you can get it in the UK though but double check with them or on their website on the configurators and eBrochures to be sure 🤓
Great video Nick. I hope to buy a new GLA 200 soon, my only concern is, as an older driver is the technology inside getting too complicated for us oldies to navigate?
Not with my videos on TH-cam! 😅
But on a more serious note no not at all
It’s easier, you don’t go into the settings menu everyday. For the most part, on the main Home Screen you’ll have Navi, Radio and maybe Media if you listen to other music.
That’s it, there’s loads of other things in the cars too but you don’t have to use every feature 😇
We love ur videos can u make a new Toyota Sienna video? Have fun making it!😊
Thank you! Glad you enjoy them! Sadly not covering Toyota at the moment! Just Mercedes, BMW and Volkswagen currently.
Hi Nick, i've got a problem with ambient lighting on my 2021 gla. The lights are incorporated but when i go to "comfort", the only thing i can find there is the seat adjustment. How can i enable the ambient lighting? Is there anything i can do?
It should be in there, that’s how you adjust it
I’d defo recommend getting in touch with Mercedes to check it out. What colour are they set to at the moment?
@@npoleary there's no color. They're closed. I looked in the settings too and there's nothing about it either. When i searched for them it said they're unavailable or something similar. As far as i know, if they're already incorporated it should be an option..
I'll get in touch with Mercedes but until then, i'm trying to find some way, maybe i can do it on my own
Oh if it there’s no colour then it sounds like you don’t have ambient lighting
It’s an option at factory usually on Premium packages etc
@@npoleary ah i get it. Thanks for helping out!
@toviatoris2642 no worries!
hi Nick, thank you for another fantastic video, I own a GLA 250 4Matic and I do not like the fact that they have removed the touchpad, no, I don’t think that’s a good move, but anyway, I want to know if it is possibleto upgrade to the new NGT seven that was in the car that you drove, my car is from 2020 and probably has the previous version, perhaps NGT six, anyway do you know if it’s possible to upgrade that system?
Hey snugglees03! Thank you glad you enjoyed it! Yes I’ve certainly used a lot of cars with a touchpad over the past few years and when I bought mine, my hand did go to use it a couple of times. Having been around a few now without it, you do get used to it (been a few months for me)
Sadly no NTG is a new generation multimedia system, it’s not a software update it’s a brand new computer inside with new hardware, faster processors and graphics etc
However…I did find this for you 🤓

Lots of info on the OM 654, might be what you’re after? 👊🏼😎
Looking forward to the next one Nick 3 days to go till blast off
Haha 😜
Nick help me if you know - the gla with burmester have the option to adjust the floor of the boot? thank you!
Mainly just generic ones maybe, so
1) of course you don’t use your left leg, you keep it pressed down to the space on the floor. In a manual you only use your right foot for braking and accelerating so the same foot for the same functions.
The gearstick in Mercedes is super easy.
Down for Drive
Up for Reverse
Button on the end for park 🤓
@@npoleary fab thanks for your reply. I really feel like I’ve got to know my new car before I’ve even got the keys and that’s down to your videos, super informative and so easy to follow. No doubt I’ll be viewing again when I can’t work something out… there’s no escape now 😁
Haha awesome! Awh thank you! Well certainly got loads of Mercedes content on here!
Hi Nick, could you confirm if this new facelift GLA has HUD? i tried building on the merc website and it doesn't seem to have it. weirdly, the a-class does have it on higher trims.
You’ll have to get in touch with Mercedes near you or they do have brochures etc online. I try not to go through specs too much as it varies round the world, just want to cover the car itself 🤓
I don’t recall seeing head up display on the cars available to drive when I was with Mercedes on the day (they usually have a variety)
thanks for the response. will try to visit my local showroom 😊@@npoleary
@louiecarlson8991 no worries!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video! I’ll keep the videos coming!
Stick with your GLC, don't entertain this rubbish. Never had a car with so much rubbish on it. Your GLC may be a little dated, but believe me, I wish we had kept our's.
Ia the gear box any better in the new facelift one?
It was certainly smooth, I didn’t notice anything that stood out.
What didn’t you like about the previous one?
@@npolearyjust taken delivery of GLA 200 petrol, which has a 7 speed automatic. It seems to jerk at low speeds when you want a bit of power. Shame 200 petrol has 7 and not 8 speed, which might be better.
Ah nice! I think the way Mercedes have set that engine and gearbox up is that it feels very lively and responsive at lower speeds giving the feeling that it’s faster than it is.
Mine’s like that, you do get used to it, I just very lightly touch the pedal and it goes.
I have one and the “chrome” internal and external fittings are a nightmare to keep clean! This model is a ‘change for change sake’ and very subtle.
Gla 250e hybrid how many miles battery range full charge
They quote up to 48 miles WLTP 🤓
Hi I heard its sits low I mean not feel like commanding sitting position compared to other suv is that true
I wouldn’t describe it low at all. It’s raised off the ground slightly and has more headroom.
It’s basically a small entry level SUV, but is higher off the ground compared to my car (which is an A-Class). Next size up would be GLB or GLC 🤓
Can I ask if these GLA models uses renault engines?
You could flip it on its head and say the Renault has a Mercedes engine 😅
It’s just a collaboration where they both worked on it together.
Does it have door projection of Mercedes logo?
Sadly I couldn’t check that when I was there as I only had a short time with the car during the day. But looking at their brochure it appears it’s only on the GLA 45 S. This is for the UK though so check with a Mercedes dealer to be 100% sure 👍🏼

Changes for the worse include the lack of a touchpad and the lack of ventilated seats
Sadly not seen ventilated seats on any car in that kind of segment on any manufacturer.
Normally you might find it on a car that’s a little bit more expensive that’ll have a higher spec or of course in hotter climates

Took delivery of this model few days ago. The engine often stalls when I park on my driveway, as it has a little incline. It rolls back as I have slam the brakes. Pressing the gas pedal often doesn’t work and I don’t want to press it hard as I risk slamming the car on to my house wall!
That’s not normal, I would definitely suggest that you get that checked out. No automatic should stall under normal conditions.

I have a 22’ Gla. In the past 2 yrs I only saw 2 other GLAs on the road. I feel like no one has a GLA except me.
It’s a good car! 🙏
Facelifts in cars are always like that, for a complete model change that’ll be 3-4 years time 🤓
@@npoleary yes but I wanted to point that in my view the changes are mostly a backward step. Ken
@@kencarruthers6714 I agree... The only think that looks better are the extra led stripes in the interior and of cource the updated version of the MBUX.

Does it have parking cameras?
Any chance to do GLB facelift presentation?

Would you know, if I can programme the same to only use electric mode for speeds below 35 MPH and combustion mode above 35 MPH with the flexibility for both in case if required for e.g. overtaking ?
Many thanks Nick in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

Shaheen Jeewanjee
Hey! Yeah good thanks! Ah awesome! 🤓
Well the default mode of a plug-in hybrid is to run on electric first and up to speeds of 85mph.
I’ve heard that some new Mercedes can now integrate with the Sat Nav to kind of make it last longer throughout a longer journey but haven’t managed to test that out yet. Need to ask them if they’ll lend me a hybrid! Haha 😜
But in any case, you’ll be able to change it manually if you wanted to. Electric mode for driving on Electric and Battery Hold for engine, you can just swap it manually when you’re travelling faster if you wanted to 🤓
I could live without the touchpad, but I cannot stand the new buttons on the wheel! Feels a lot cheaper than the lovely cold metal on previous models.
just want to ask honest opinion about noise insulation ,I've heard the road noise is quite noticeable.
second question is Mercedes dealership UK doing 24 hours test drive?
Build quality is sometimes a topic that crops up when reviewing any car but happy to answer 🤓
Mercedes in this case of course sell many many models with varying levels of luxury. The A-Class, CLA, B-Class and GLA kind of fall into the same category.
They are all premium models but of course there is a difference when going up through the Mercedes range to others like for example GLC, GLE and GLS / S-Class. But so does the price! 🤓
It’s all down to what you’d expect from a car and to be honest whoever said the noise is noticeable, it’s what they expect from a car too.

I’m considering this car from my X3 to this. I would do GLC 300. I think this is more practical as my entry to the Mercedes world 😊
Just ordered a gla 200 premium and I can’t wait for the delivery, but I’m still a lil disappointed about the touchpad.
(I haven’t seen those for a Mercedes A-Class anyway)
For most people, the standard one and even more so the Premium one is even better.
But if you haven’t driven one, just take one out for test drive at your local Mercedes and try it out and see how you get on 🤓
If this one’s not on your list, what’s on your list now? Still a Mercedes? Or a German car (I do review others!) or something completely different? 🤓
Or just use "Hey Mercedes" to make alterations...?@@npoleary
@@npoleary I use 90% the touchpad, 9.9% the touch pad on the steering wheel and 0.1% the screen... And I am not the only one.
Well it is something you get used to, I bought my car and used it a fair bit. Certainly didn’t put me off buying my car 🤓
The other improvements kind of make up for it! 🤓
GLA base model is priced at 72K USD in India that’s getting ridiculous here with luxury tax 🙃. Good review though 😅
Ah okay, I know prices and specs vary round the world! But glad you enjoyed it! 😎
You can always email me “contact@npo-media.co.uk”
I can try and help if it’s the same as my A-Class. It might be!
Is the mbux improved from previous generation because it looked good but the performance was bad
CarPlay Fullscreen ?
On the facelift: Yes 🤓👍🏼
@@npoleary Wireless ?
Yeah! I’ve covered the differences here between the two multimedia systems: th-cam.com/video/Ft318ejsnu0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=u69uZOVREUtxmIpL
Make sure you’re subscribed with notifications on so you don’t miss out!
Rear camera problem? I didn’t have any issues with reversing when I had use of this car
@@npoleary Nick, I mean where the camera keeps popping in and out at low speeds. Mercedes say it’s normal but it’s very noisy and annoying constantly hearing it.
I’ve heard that before but it’s just where the camera pops out to expose the image ready to show on screen
From reading online I think it happens more on vehicles with the 360 degree camera (I’m led to believe)
@@npoleary Hello Nick, no it’s constantly popping in and out as the car drives slowly.
Yeah it’ll pop out under 20mph I believe and pop back in once you travel faster.
Even BMW cheaper models like X1 and 2 series have the middle touchpad / iDrive controller is being removed. That’s something I don’t like but it’s ok
How is this an suv?
Entry level SUV 🤓
It’s a small one but it still counts!
shame it doesn't have the front grill update like new a class
Well not all models of Mercedes will have the same grille
Some are slightly different 🤓
Not sure if the UK market is behind, but this is identical to the GLA I bought back in 2021.
It’s a facelift so facelifts have very small changes halfway through the product cycle of a car
Most car manufacturers do this small update but the updates are very welcome! 🙏
