7:33 Yes, it is 100% normal. The USPS is not a free pick up location for their competitors. Out of the goodness of their hearts they will accept the package and hold it for you. Then let you pay US postage for it. Then they will just pretend it was shipped though the USPS, and let you have your package. USPS to the Post Office. UPS to a UPS Store. Always check the tracking to make sure it’s going to the right place.
Mosquitoes function best at 80 degrees F, become lethargic at 60 degrees F, and cannot function below 50 degrees F.
that seems just…😉
Yay! Glad Boujee will come to you guys after the wedding! It is probably for the best since he isn't planning to hike the whole thing on this stretch and he gets to stay with his tramily for as long as he can! Well deserved nearo (nero?) and zero! 😊
Good morning, Juliane. Ya'll truly make tracks on town days. I know burgers are calling your name. Glad Somewhere joined you at the campground. At least you're able to touch base with her occasionally. How neat that someone treated you to Starbucks and you treated the tramily. We thank you for taking us along on your neros and zeros. We know it's a lot to remember when you're doing chores and relaxing with friends. Take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.
Raley's is a grocery chain that specializes in serving mountain communities. But it is fancy, and VERY expensive. On the opposite end of the spectrum if you have an opportunity to go to a WinCo, they are perfect for resupply because they are inexpensive and carry not only freeze dried meals but bulk foods that help you do your own meals.
I miss Raley's / Nob Hill. I wish we had them here in Oregon. I don't recall them being overly expensive. Prices maybe a bit above Safeway, but way below Whole Foods. They used to have good sales that matched the prices of any other stores.
I retired from the USPS, UPS has been dropping packages off to be delivered for years. We never charged for holds or pickups...uncool.....
It's a newish thing from the last few years. Some post offices do not even allow UPS delivering.
I thought it was common knowledge that you have to send packages by USPS to get them to be held by the post office as General Delivery. UPS, FedEx, DSL, etc have to be delivered to private addresses like hotels, hostels, or trail angels. Usually post offices just reject them, so this was an exception. I think it may have to do with the fact that private mail companies now pay the USPS for delivering packages to mail boxes instead of having drivers deliver them.
Well, you must have been a very bad postal worker then. Because you clearly don't know the postal regulations very well. All items delivered by the Post Office must have US Postage paid on them. Postal workers are not allowed to give any one a freebee. If US Postage is not paid on the item, then the postal workers must try to collect the postage due from the recipient. If the recipient refuses to pay, it must be returned to the sender with a notice of insufficient postage.
@@MaxZomboni no, I was a very good employee that played by the rules. UPS, FedEx and Amazon all drop off at our PO's and the mail carriers deliver those packages.
It is in exchange for the other delivery companies to fly our packages on their airplanes so the PO doesn't have to own planes.
So yes it is a real thing the postal service does.
All packages they deliver does not have to have USPS postage .
@@ajparks79 None of what you say makes any sense.
Domestic Mail Manual P011 Payment
1.2Mail Without Postage
Matter of any class, including that for which special services are indicated, received at either the office of mailing or office of address without postage, is endorsed “Returned for Postage” and is returned to the sender without an attempt at delivery.
If the item is delivered to the Post Office by UPS, then it is mail without postage, and must be returned to the sender. Though, as a courtesy most postal clerks will try to collect the postage from the recipient before returning it.
The mosquitoes go back to where they're from and where it's warm, hell.
That’s a Boujee 😊 Rayleys in SLT, been there many times. I always get excited and spend waaaay too much on their high end travel sized products. Very nice to hear that the campground supports PCT hikers the way they do.
the usps makes zero $ on that so I think it's fair and much better than refusing delivery which has happened to me before
Would you still recommend the HMG Unbound over the Southwest?
Love South Lake Tahoe and Truckee (North), now that I know the PCT goes through I'll be dropping off some magic.....love love love your vids....Glad Boujee will be back!!!
Wow that looked like a great sandwich you made there. Yum! Looked like a nice campground too. Amazon must have messed up the shipping 'cause we've had UPS hand off to USPS to deliver and never been charged.
Knowing how much you love the trail, you really know have much you need that zero! Enjoy 😊
The mosquitos are taking refuge in the fur trees and bushes around you. Slap a limb and watch them swarm out. I always try not to bump bushes and trees at campsites...it makes them worse.
Lol...take care and be careful.
I think I was in that burn zone on the ridge above 50 about a week before you were! What campground was that? I might drop off some food myself when I'm up there next week.
PS Surprised you all went to Raley's! It is indeed the fancy grocery store chain.
Beautiful morning hike. Thank you be safe.
Has anyone on here recently seen a hiker doing PCT called Dusty Street or Ambassador? Last seen at Idylewilde campground April 13-14. Thank you ❤
I wonder if there has been a time when someone left their campsite and someone else comes along thinking it's trail magic and it wasn't intended. That's what I would think every time I would find trail magic and no one was there. Unless there was a note.
A cloud of mosquitoes falling straight to the ground...nice visual! The sun on the mountains making them look gold is stunning!! Town days & that campsite look amazing!! Happy trails! 👣
Yay for Boujee coming right back to you guys. I mentioned that to him on his channel as well as many other people said. I'm so glad to hear you guys took a zero!! Thanks for the great video RR!!! Happy Trails!!
- Shybee
Hey ....they can't bite through it......and ticks don't like it either.....
Gotta be a lot of fun to be hiking on a trail that you have been to before. Enjoy the zero and glad your new pack came in. happy trails..
Love some Truckee town!
Awesome place!!
Keep on North!
Mosquitoes are thermaltropic. Like people they are more active at certain temps.
Many mosquitoes will die off when the thermostat drops below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. However, other types of mosquitoes will only go dormant or reduce their activity come colder weather.
Which campground did you all stay att in South Lake Tahoe? Will be there in late July as I close my pct miles from last year. Thx love your videos.
Tahoe has got it going on in the Summer, except for that USPS charging to hold packages? Love the area in the Winter, got to visit in the Summer!
I remember that big fire that closed the TRT. A few years back. I showed up to one of the trailheads with my pack and plans to through hike the TRT and a ranger said “nope…trail is closed”. 8 months of planning out the window. I believe the fire was so bad that they evacuated S Lake Tahoe.
Yes, the Caples Fire in 2019.
@@SandraMessier-qb1ug This was the caldor fire of 2021...I live near PCT on echo lakes
OHH so glad you all got to share it!!! That's exactly how it should be. Delighted Boujee is going to join you all again. Yaks on the 5 for 5!
Glad you are relaxing for an extra day.
6:42 For a "$400" backpack, that is shameful. Same with the Altra's of Birdcall and Boss Bae. Not even halfway thru the hike and this "ultralight" gear is already falling apart. I'm starting to think that" ultralight" also means "ultra-cheap" LOL. Is all this gear just "hype" now?
The company has said that batch was defective, and they're replacing with a new one.
All of us from Tesla keep talking about it
Hike a lot faster on town day!!!!
Keep going! All the way😊🤟🏼
Nice to be able to take a zero and relax 😊
you are a smart cookie, high EQ
Yes! I had that same problem with USP
I called it. Awesome sauce!!!!!
The mosquito population fly into the vegetation when temperatures drop at the end of the day.
Trail runners scootin'
You know, for trail running and moving efficiently - i always think about keeping my "dancing shoes" on . . . as soon as the "hiking boots" take over, I slow way down. I think this gave you an edge in the snow traverses. Gives your more reflex - connection to your feet.
LETS GO!
Bravo....wind break material.......nylon.....magic.....cheers
Hello Roadrunner! Please wear your mini spikes and carry ice ax in your hand when crossing the steep snow covered passes. The ice ax is your breaking mechanism so you don't hit the rocks. Boujee slipped down the mountain couple days ago. Looks like he slid down 500 to1000 ft. He was going towards the rocks but he was able to turn away from them. Boujee Video day 64
