Too many of these children don't know what a brilliant adventure Goku has in his youth.
Especially some of the best choreographed fights in the franchise. Goku vs Jackie Chun, Goku vs Tenshinhan, Goku vs Piccolo Jr. All hard fights that are super underrated.
Dragon Ball has some of my favorite fights in the entire series.

Just finished og Dragonball the first time this Piccolo Daimao arc might be my all time favorite of the entire series. When he punches through him and says I won. Avenges Krillin and Roshi plus was a great fight

One thing I've noticed with Piccolo, even when reincarnated, is that he LOVES the Shovel Hook. He's landed it in basically every fight so far.
Absolutely. Another one I didn’t mention in the video that I should’ve is that he loves to push you back with Ki and when your stance is compromised he sprints at you to land. He tried the same thing against Frieza in my last video.
It's awesome how a lot of the characters have go-to moves. As a casual viewer, I never noticed, but Toriyama and the other anime animators must have had individual fighting styles in mind when making this. The attention to detail is really cool.
A throwback when we only had monkey boy vs. demon. We do not have the concept of Saiyans or Namekians yet.

It's been so long since I watched OG DB that I forgot how long it took for Goku to grow. Literally, man went through childhood and teenage years looking the exact same and suddenly getting a growth spurt that leaves everyone flabbergasted.
I will say Goku definitely did look a lot older here than he did in the previous tournament. Bro was puny
I feel the opposite, Goku did change but rather slowly and almost imperceptibly. I even remember a teen Goku right before he became an adult in DBZ
This is a guess but it could be because he was Saiyan. After all, Saiyans keep their youthfulness for a long time before they hit their 80's, so maybe that meant it took longer for Goku to age.
In the manga its much more noticeable how Kid Goku changed. Toriyama actually had a moment at the 22nd tenkaichi budokai which mirrored a moment at the 21st Budokai and you can compare them.
Goku got a lot taller and looks much more mature than he did at the 21st but its almost unnoticeable if you don't compare them side by side
It helps the theory that full blood Saiyans take longer to mature, as we saw Gohan grow and mature all through Z. It's oart of what made Goten and Trunks so annoying ao long. Like they should have had a growth spurt by Battle of Gods

Piccolo may have developed into the goofy uncle later on, but people forget just how heated this rivalry was. I kind of wish we’d have gotten another true bout between Goku and Piccolo to start DBZ. Great videos bro thanks for the content.

@@SensibleSaiyanto be fair Goku was locked in during the 22nd tournament. From training his tail, learning how to deal with the solar flare after only seeing it once, and countering Tien’s four arms, Goku really developed as a fighter from the previous tournament

Goku had his fair share of fights that pushed him back a little up to this point in OG Dragon Ball. But it was this battle against Demon King Piccolo where he was really pushed to the edge

im doing a rewatch of all of dragon ball and just done with goku's second fight with the Dimao. GOKU WHEN HE FIGHTS A PICCOLO IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT BEAST. He is fighting with more than a joy of fighting he wants all that smoke death be damned, he REFUSES to die or take the L. BROKEN LEGS, GIANT HOLE IN THE CHEST, OTHER BROKEN ARM. In the manga for this fight its made hellla clear how much he's hurting goku. When he gave him that stiff left, that broke his tooth and it stays in the manga chipped till he gets that senzu bean

Yeah I agree man this was indeed the most brutal loss he took. Arguably the fight with the son, his brother and the Saiyan prince is out there as the most brutal for Goku. But I think non compares to this one. I am still waiting for Goku vs. Freeza on Namek but I do love OG DB fights and always love what you do man. 2 fights that can't be skipped in the future in my opinion- Goku vs. Tenshinhan (22nd TB) and Goku vs. Piccoro Jr. both legendary epic MF fights.

this is just me, and it might not be anything you’re interested in doing, but im salivating thinking about a series like this for Samurai Jack fights. yes, weapons are USUALLY involved.. so the typical fight scoring is prolly unrealistic in that context, but the level of detail you provide when tracking a fighter’s split-seconds decisions and how they influence the progression is just unreal. not to mention your commentary on how these decisions reflect each character’s personalities / motivations / arcs, im just so impressed
