I think this was basically a tech demo for the actual third game in the series. They wanted to see if it could work as an action rpg and this was something they made to test it. @@punksnotdead5367 I’m not saying it’s a bad game or that it should have been the third game in the series. It’s just that it should have been more for its own good. With more levels, more emphasis on story, maybe a party system that allowed you to choose one of the South Park kids as party members (and allow another player to jump in and control them at any moment) it would have been better. But it’s clear that it’s never going to be more than a side game in the franchise and that they won’t expand it with much more content other than an additional game mode, some (useless) cosmetics and a couple more weapons.
This game seems like a result of all the deals Matt and Trey have made where it seems like the IP is just stretched too thin. Having to make 2 lots of specials for 2 different streaming services and trying to make a game at the same time resulted in a pretty average product.
the game came from the other half of the pair getting the two RPGs and avoiding burn out issues working on a different type of game. there is a reason why its 30, they wanted to keep the first 3d game lower scale.
I like how this game release's less than a week after Spring officially starts and winters over just to remind us of what some of us just experienced a month or two ago in January and February of this year.
With a title like that and the intro being what it is, this game REALLY shouldve based itself off post apocalyptic movies and games more than doing stick of truth again. It would work way more with the new gameplay style and allow for more original jokes and plot lines since the neither the show or games had really had any apocalypse setting (beyond like two episodes technically)
I was really excited when this game was first teased. I thought a snow day would be the perfect setting for another great 2D game. But when actual gameplay footage started to come out I was very disappointed.
I feel like they took a step backwards in a couple ways. South Park in 3D animation kind of died out with the N64. And medieval fantasy RPG in South Park? I'm pretty we already played this game before.
That wait to hear if not just "Snow Day", but the listed schools in the areas mentioned. You listened for your area and school, for the most we used an old school wall outlet Radio that also used C batteries. Thing still worked for a while after that.
Its absolutely wild they went from an amazing art style and direction from the first and second amazing games to this. They were sitting on a literal sandcastle of childrens perspective stories they could have gone with but instead we get a snow day. And I know Enter The gungeons a coop roguelike as well as Gunfire reborn but theyre kinda neat kinda genre merge.
CO native here. There is a town called South Park here, but its nothing like the show lol. We also just had a huge blizzard last week, so this is fitting!
I think i would still pick this game up for 50% off because it doesn't look like _complete_ garbage, but they definitely went backwards by 20 years. I actually played the first and second games of South Park a couple months ago and I enjoyed them a lot. I accepted that there wouldn't be a third game since The Fractured but Whole came out in 2017. So imagine my surprise when I heard that a third game was coming out a month after I finished the last one. But sadly, it didn't live up to the previous two. Hopefully, South Park Studios will attempt to make a game again in their original 2D style.
My fav part of the dev blogs for this was when one of the lead animators said that they couldn’t get the run animation right for south park so they just added higher snow so they create a trail and it hides their legs.. That shows how little passion they had. I knew it was gonna be shit as soon as I saw that
@@marcelosoares7148 apparently Matt and Trey wasn’t happy with the run anim because it didn’t look like South Park. It was a more conventional run animation.
Why do people keep saying "the first game" or the "the second game"?. Just because fractured was a direct sequel to stick of truth doesn't mean every south Park game that comes after will also be. There were a bunch of south Park games that came out before them and it's a safe bet to say there will be many more in the future as well. Let each product stand on the merrit of it's own two feet instead of comparing it to something it was never gonna be
I do think visually it looks good, especially with trying to bring the style to 3D. That being said…I don’t think Trey and Matt thought this one out very well
@@almightyk11it's a really enjoyable game in my opinion! I don't see what the complain is about 😂 I'm glad they are making more games! The game play is actually fun, the only real criticism I can see is it's short, but onimuhsa warlords is seen as an awesome game and I agree it is but it's really short! I don't think the length of the game and the quality of the game is the same thing!
I would agree this game is underwhelming compared to the previous 2, but it's far from a bad game. I did manage to find people giving genuine criticism about some of the games weaknesses, but a lot of it just whiney nonsense. I usually don't like this argument, but this does feel like a case of "you're just mad it's different and wanted the same thing" as if there is some unspeakable law that every South Park game has to be a 2D rpg with the shows artstyle. I don't remember people thinking Simpsons Hit and Run was bad because it was 3D and didn't look like the show.
Oh I found it ok, just platinum’d it like a hour ago. For £20 can’t really go wrong. Is exactly what I expected. I absolutely love the stick of truth and fractured but whole, and this game does follow those two but feels like a 2.5 game, a true trilogy game like the two before is needed, but yeah this Snow day game is decent mindless fun. Also found it funny constantly farting using the right button on the D pad (not the fart power that shoots you up in the air that you guys used in this video) 😂😂😂 and giving my character chin balls (testicules dangling from the chin) 😂😂. Yes I’m immature 😂😂
They tried to cook something up but I feel like it didnt work at all, compared to the other 2 games it is just not comparable and its better in 2d than 3d
I skipped out on this just because it looked so barebone. I'm wondering if this is like a stepping stone to something greater? Like they only released this to test the waters for a bigger 3D world RPG that we actually want.
I honestly love this game. It's obviously not as good as Stick of Truth or Fractured But Whole, but it was never trying to be; comparing it to them is unfair to what it's trying to achieve. It's a spin-off, not a direct sequel. It's a great experience from start to finish, and I like how much changes with each playthrough. It's definitely more of an episode than the other 2 too. The other 2 LOOK like an episode, but feel like movies; Snow Day FEELS like an episode, a good 1 at that. It really felt like it could've come straight out of a random season. Anyway, yeah, I love it, it's definitely getting way too much hate. Expecting another SoT & FBW when they're not even aiming to do that is setting yourself up for disappointment, when you could instead just be having fun with it.
@@gracekim1998Spin-offs can still reference previous games, especially when they're as meta as South Park. A direct sequel would be another game that's exactly like the other 2: same style, same genre, same sense of a movie-size plot, etc. Glad to hear you like it too though!
@KungFuKamehameha The other 2 are the same genre. They don't have to be 1:1, but Snow Day isn't even close to what they are. Yes, it exists in the same universe. Yes the story continues. No, that doesn't make it a DIRECT sequel. That'd be like saying the Loki show is a direct sequel to Avengers: Endgame. It's not, it exists in the same world & references events from it, but it's clearly a spin-off.
@KungFuKamehameha is the Simpsons Game a direct sequel to Simpsons Hit & Run? The game is 30 dollars & is more of a sequel to “The Problem with a Poo” episode, plot-wise. This is more of an “offshoot sequel” than a direct sequel.

The thing about snow in the uk is that we get more ice than we do snow so that’s why it’s seen as a big deal when we get a decent amount of snow although we rarely get snow nowadays
Where did you hear that? King and gollum got consistent 3-4s and this games been getting 6-7s. It's mediocre for sure but by no means a bad game. People are just salty cause they wanted a sequel to the stick of truth and fractured , despite Matt and trey saying specifically they wanted to do something different and hence this games getting a lot of hate from fans for being different, the games biggest fault honestly is that it's just mid. Not great at anything, not really bad at anything just kinda mediocre. Funny but mediocre. And the live service part kinda blows but hey what can you do
They should've really stuck to the 2D aesthetic as all the series needed was a better Stick of Truth but this 3D thing just feels totally off with the Show.
I think this game would have been fine normally as a smaller and cheaper release but The Fractured But Whole was 7 years ago so this being the first game in that amount of time isn't good enough.
I'm confused by your comment , this game is both smaller and cheaper in everyway , literally 30$ and made by an indie studio as opposed to stick and fractureds' triple A game studios. Is it because it's been 7 years since a game has been made at all with the IP that's the issue? It wasn't advertised as a sequel to those games , quite the opposite actually as they literally said they wanted to make something different since everyone loved those games so much people wanted them to just keep making them but that's not creatively fulfilling for them

This game looks more like an experiment. They wanted to try something different and that’s also why it’s not a full priced game. It looks fun for what it is, but I’m curious to see where the games go after this.
My school refused to cancel school when there was a blizzard and it ended up with the health teacher dying in a car crash driving to work. They refused to take responsibility. No other drug can solve as many problems as weed.
The current gaming landscape are such whiney spoilt brats. The game looks amazing, it’s funny to play and is a blast with friends. No wonder most games tank, the people playing them expect perfection or send it to slaughter. If you don’t want to follow a sheep’s opinion, give the game a go and see for yourself. It’s a fun game and is by far the best looking 3D South Park yet!
Haven't played the game, but I have watched interviews with Matt, gameplay reviews, and watched the cutscenes "movie.: The first 2 games are more based on Trey's preference of games while Snow Day is more Matt's preference, which is more just fighting games. I imagine they decided to jump into 3d to switch from turn-based combat into hack-and-slash combat. There are also some cutscenes with Mr. Hankey that I'm sure they loved animating in 3d. I was skeptical about the 3d when first seeing it, but it looks great, a lot better than I would've thought. The story is pretty good aswell, obviously not as fleshed out as the other stories which does make it feel rushed since every plot point is usually solved at the end of a mission then it moves on. I doubt this will be the last South Park game and we will get more RPG ones. It's also being speculated that Snow Day might be live service, so more stuff might be added to flesh it out even more. It also seems like if you can play the game co-op with a friend or two, it makes the game much more enjoyable, which was the game's goal. So while it's not the game a lot of people were expecting and hoping for it does provide a quick but fun story, and if you're able to play with friends it's worth a shot
I just wish they would’ve built off the story more from the previous two episodes. It’s just so white and I get it’s a snow day but the previous two games were better combat and just mission wise.
I love that the person complaining about Wokeness specifically asked that they not be asked to actually define what "woke" means. It really is such a brain rot buzz term that has no meaning other than "thing I don't like"
Grant it this was made in a small period of time I believe so it can never compare to their other games that were made by a different company for a 3D game it’s not that bad. It’s not great but not horrible
South Park in 3D just looks so wrong. (granted it doesnt look completely terrible) Game seems to be a bit lackluster compared to Stick of Truth and Fractured but Whole
Glad you guys are back to uploading more often, missed your chaotic duo dynamic. Thinking about it, I watch a lot of channels that are specifically about 2 people playing video games together…

We’d play games, then everyone would make themselves invincible, and it wouldn’t be fun anymore, so we had to change to a different game, then, guess what, same thing happened and the same kid wanted to be op, and ruined it for everyone else.
They're only asking $30 for it, so i can't be too upset. If they asked full price, then I'd be unpleased. Still, I'll wait until it's under $20 to give it a try.

@KungFuKamehameha is the Simpsons Game a direct sequel to Simpsons Hit & Run? The game is 30 dollars & is more of a sequel to “The Problem with a Poo” episode, plot-wise. This is more of an “offshoot sequel” than a direct sequel.
